Threaded SMS sort order - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

Hello,
i m using wm 6.1 from kaiser.
the most is working great,
but the sort order in the sms chat is wrong.
example:
13/4 (Date)
14/4 (Date)
6:32 (time)
15:27 (time)
17/2 (Date)
The sort order is wrong,
is the reason that the region is german?
thx for the replies

Are you sure it's actually sorting? To me that just looks like random ordering...

thanks for reply.
yes im sure i checked it

seems to me that the sorting doesn't make a difference between date and time. Also, the time notifications are cut of after the separator to a valid date-value (in this case "2" and "3") and are therefore sorted as february and march.... Or am I thinking to complex now?

Threaded SMS

Hey i know that with WM6.1 Threaded SMS is integrated now...
however my question is has anyone made an equally small like patch or fix/ upgrade to this that would allow messages from the other person to be right justified (date/who/when with actual text still left justified) and from you to be left justified?

this is my biggest complaint. i have dcd's rom and there's an option to turn threading off, but even when i revert, the time info is missing for messages 24 hours prior to the current time.
i'd like to see a fix for this.

Running GC14's release of Arcsoft 5.0.70.24
I turn off threading, because in my particular situation, It makes text messages harder to view and work with.
anything older than 24 hours shows only the date on the main screen, but if you open the message the top line says:
To: XXXXXXXXXX <--(my mobile number)

remove phone numbers formatting (dashes)

Hello,
Me and my trusty G1 have recently moved out of the US. Im running CM's latest, and just like the stock ROM, phone numbers stored in the phone have the xxx-xxx-xxxx US format. This format does not apply to most countries outside of the US. So here when someone calls (or when im trying to add a new contact) phone numbers tend to look weird since phone numbers here have an XX-XXX-XXX format (8 digits total), and so they end up showing as XXX-XXX-XX, which is just confusing.
So in short, is there any way to stop the dashes from showing up in the call log/ caller id/adding new contact form??
Thanks alot!!
No one has the same problem or has heard of a fix to this???
Hi, my G1 & I moved out of the US recently, too. The way I did it was to change all the numbers while logged in to Gmail in my browser. It was tedious but it lets you use a proper keyboard and mouse instead of trying to do it on the phone. All you really need to do is type the new prefix/country code once, and then cut and paste it in front of all the US numbers. Gmail will then just push it out to the phone right away. Hope this helps...
My biggest concern isn't fixing the already existing numbers in my phone book. My concern is when adding a new number or when someone not in my phone book calls, the number looks confusing because of the existence of the dashes.
But thanks anyway for your suggestion.
I have MoreLocale2 installed and when i changed it to my language i got the correct formatting.
Hey I just wanted to bump this thread to point out that morelocale 2 worked like a charm! so thanks a lot for the suggestion
Sorry to bump an old thread but i'm having exactly the same problem and its driving me mad I cant get MyLocale 2 working, it doesn't take the dashes from my numbers
Old thread, but might help someone: I also had the dash problem although in Gmail my contacts had no dashes. Changing the locale from US to UK removed the dashes for me (Home/Settings/Locale and Text/Select locale/ English (UK)).

Thanks aygunes, this is a realy easy solution to have the numbers format without dashes.
Find a way to export your contacts to a CSV file or a single vCARD file. Then you can just use something like a shell command:
Code:
cat file.csv | tr -d '-' > cleanfile.csv
or just edit the resulting file with any text editor and import back. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417184
[EDIT] I forgot that probably ALL phone numbers are stored without dashes in the (latest) contacts database.

I have a similar issue. I'm in Brazil and I'm using a Galaxy S 3 that I bought in US. Our numbers are stored as (XXX)prefix-XXXX-XXXX.
When I receive a sms or a call it doesnt show my contact name... only the numbers. How can I change this?
A friend has a S3 he bought in here... when he dials any number they appear without dashes and spaces like this XXXXXXXX. When I dial it appears XX XXXX-XX.
Anyone could help?

Annoying bugs and more...

Dear XDA´ers,
Just got my hands on a HD2. Very pretty, nicely big. But some irritating flaws... wondering if you gurus could help me here. Please understand that I am a noob and have already searched the forum before. So please be gentle with me .
All versions below are stock ones:
ROM: 1.66.707.1 (76641) WWE (01/12/10) - Origin: I don´t have a clue (probably Asian, because of the keyboard options, but can´t locate the specific region)
RADIO: 2.07.51.22_2
OS Version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila version: 2.5.19211619.0
1) Buggy SMS/MMS system. I can receive MMS, but cannot read them. They appear at the initial screen, but when I click over them to go to the "threaded view" it simply disappear... so it is marked forever as "not read" (bold lines). They also appear at the "All messages" option, but again, when I click over them, I get a blank threaded view.
2) Calendar and Appointments: how the heck can I schedule an appointment if I cannot choose the AM/PM option? The respective field is blank... is it possible to reinstall or replace this piece of code only (not the entire ROM) if I want to?
3) How can I get a portuguese T9?
4) How could a $600 gadget doesn´t let you choose a snoozing time interval? Am I stuck to the 5-min original interval? I know there are some programs that let you change it, but I´d like to stick to the Sense interface... know it sounds silly, but I got used to my old mobile where I could change those parameters.
5) Is there any "Tunewiki"-like software for HD2? I used it a lot at my old iTouch and I´d like to keep the lyrics synchronized to the music...
Thank you in advance for any help about the questions above.
First off the Stock ROMs tend to suck ...
1.) Do not and did not have this issue with my TMOUS HD2, not sure why it happened to you ..
2.) Sure it is not a 24 hour clock, mine is ...
3.) No clue ....
4.) G-Alarm is a nice replacement for the stock alarm, the stock one sucks ...
5.) There are a couple of apps like this for the HD2 Search around, I don't have links but I have seen them ....
You may consider looking into a custom ROM ....
Hi watcher64,
Thank you for your reply.
2) If it´s has a 24h clock option, I really couldn´t find where I should change that. But even so, the screen wouldn´t appear like the picture below, don´t you agree? AM/PM is missing here... ("red question marks" are mine )
5) Believe me, I did. None synchronizes the lyrics to the music (I mean phrase-by-phrase while music is playing...), that´s why I came here.
Regards!

2.) Start Menu>Settings>System>Regional Settings>Time, Select HH:mm:ss .
This is also where you set your AM/PM options, maybe it got screwed up ...
5.) Look at this ... http://www.xda-developers.com/windows-mobile/lyrics-for-almost-all-songs-in-s2p/
Hope it at least helps ...

I'd advise installing BsBTweaks (on this forum) as a matter of course anyway, but there is an option to enable this feature in the program.
"Enable dismiss X time in notifications" is the one you need.

Hi watcher64,
2) My working path is different (probably because ROM version), but unfortunately, the AM/PM option is disabled (gray). I *will* consider upgrading the stock ROM. But there will be lots and lots of pages to read before that.
5) Nice try, but still not what I need. Check the S2P thread post #11 (can´t post links here), it doesn´t have autoscroll (like Tunewiki). That´s what I meant for "synchronized lyrics", maybe I was not clear enough, sorry. I´ll keep looking, anyway. Thx.

I´ll give it a try, thx. I would rather stick to Sense interface, but looks like it´s impossible. Too bad HTC did a nice interface mixed to such poor software...
I would suggest, being a portuguese HTC HD2 user, to try out the artemis roms. It has full translation to PTG and includes a portuguese T9. Try it out, i'm using it as of now and have found it quite an improvement over the stock rom.

Hi ei05035,
Actually there's no problem about using Hd2 with english version, but I miss a t9 library to help me out with faster typing during email/sms messages. So I'm wondering if I could keep the english O/S and replace some kinda T9 "language" library, if you know what I mean.
About the Artemis ROM, thanks for the tip, but I'm starting the loooong journey of learning about flashing a ROM and not turn your device into a paperweight. Even longer for a noob like me...
Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the advice, but where do I find this G-Alarm? I'm constantly late otherwise and so I've been using mums $50 nokia as an alarm, always reliable!

[FIX] CallerID Not showing w CountryCode

I've seen a few posts here with people having trouble with Mango and country codes. When people call, they won't show up because the country code is there.
Thanks to xboxmod, I've put together a little .xap that fixes this issue, by changing a registry entry. (since Mango won't allow Registry Editors)
Just deploy the attached .xap and reboot and all should be working.
(This .xap will work for Norwegian people and other's with 8 digits in their phone nr. If requested I can make for more or less digits aswell..)
Hope u enjoy, and again, all creds to xboxmod!

Thanks
I do that just because hacking the tool of HTC is an idea of xboxmod and I just can't suport it
So here are the cabs:
DEV_CALLERID_FIX.cab and DEV_CALLERID_FIX_REMOVE.cab
The advantage is that it stays in rom even after a reset or an update
I'm joking of course but I had myself troubles to think "packages" now and to no modify all in rom but let is as a microsoft release and make cabs to modify instead, was too used to do that
If every devs could do the same with already to go packages it could be nice for xboxmod and other cookers in futur.
Just have to modify the dsm, rgu and provxml with another name and guid, cooker can do the cab after.
Off course Yuki! Creds and big love 2 u too, for ur huge contribution to the HD2 development! My HD2 will live on for some time thanks to u!
Love the new .cab system also! Much easier to deploy than .xap's
Caller id almost fixed
Hi!
My problem is partly solved
When I now enter the SMS-service the names of the people I have saved in my contact list shows, not just the number as before.
But when I'm not there the preview notification popup, still shows the number and not name. Is it possible to tweak this as well. I guess the notification also needs altering from 7 to 8 digits?
I'm a noob and just grateful that somebody else understands these matters, but it would be wonderful to make the transaction to Mango complete
E.
I came here as I have the same problem on my Titan in Singapore - also 8 digits and running a UK version (11 digits).
Unfortunately, the PROV-XML solution won't work on Titan, no interop unlock available

If you got the contact saved in phonebook, then you can create new SMS to that contact and it will be send.
It's because you send SMS first without prefix, then receive SMS with prefix and the number in thread gets overwritten from nonprefix to prefix.
If you have prefix in sms center number in settings, remove it.
thank you for your reply yeah i thought that myself when the first one sent then the next one didnt i thought i wonder if its adding the prefix back on with the next message thanks for your reply i will remove the prefix in the centre number. i was in 2 minds as to do that but now i have a second opinion i will try it thanks bro for your reply
Jonny,
I had the same problem as you with this ROM (on Virgin) and nothing I did would make SMS's send - either new, or replies.
I have now installed Aeroflyluby's VDG Mango 8107 and with that ROM, sometimes I can send SMS - but it is not consistent AND GPS works on that ROM (it doesn't work for me on Miro's ROM).
HOWEVER, on VDG Mango 8107, I find it impossible to set the SMS Message Centre - when I fill in the number and hit "save" as the phone either hangs or the Message Centre number remains blank. On this ROM, I have also tried using the HTC Connection setup (which works fine on Miro's ROM's) but it complains that it's database is empty.
So, here is a very long shot. Check out HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone\CallIDMatch - which should be a dword. I think that you might find in Miro's ROM it is set to 7, but for the UK we need it set to 10 (to match the last 10 digits of a mobile or landline number).
On the VDG Mango 8107 ROM, this key doesn't exist - and I don't have permissions to create it - but if it is already there, you should be OK to change it.
Good luck!
thanks for your reply im not sure about fiddling with the registry. back in wm6.5 i was always making a mess of the registry but, i must admit i made some really good tweaks with editing the registry, but, in wp7 id rather leave it up to the experts on that one as i have never owned a wp7 phone before so im not sure how things will react.
thanks for your input tho , much appreciated
