Question... can I go back to non-GPS Rom?? Possible brick???

Hello all!!!!
I updated to the Sprint Rom 3.56 and Radio 3.42... I wwanted to know if it's possible to downgrade to a non-GPS Rom again...
To explain a little bit more, I'm from Venezuela and my Company didn't offer the newest of Rom... it was very old, although it was WM6 it didn't had Rev.A nor GPS (my network supports Rev.A so i didn't understand why they did these...
The Problem is my phone is not working, i didn't let the Sprint Customization run so my phone is completly configured to my home network in Venezuela (I checked the EPST setting and everything is like it should be)...
I wanted to know becasue in last chance I want to take it back for them to put the stock Rom again, but I don't know if that would brick my phone...
thanxs to enyone who can help me!!!
Sounds like you may need to setup your PRL list for your Cell vendor. The new radio included a new pri and prl, so you may need to just update your prl for your cell, and possible the pri.
the PRL is in order, it didn't change after the update... but the PRI i think it change, let me check that...
thanks!!!

Cellular South htc 6800

I have a titan on the Cellular South network, small carrier mainly in mississippi. I want to try upgrading my rom, however I do not want to make the same mistake I made with my Palm 700wx. I would like to make a backup copy of the stock rom in case things don't work out and I need to reinstall it. I have searched heavy for backup procedures with no luck. All I have found is recommending saving the ESPT settings. I have copied some, but am not sure what all I need. Any guideance would be appreciated!
not much help or cooperation out here on the 6800; I must say the communication is much better when I was working on my palm 700wx on this site.
I'm a noob, but I too have searched heavily about how to backup the stock ROM/radio, but to no avail. If you want to try better ROM's on the TITAN, I believe from all the reading I have done that the best option is...
SPL: nueSPL247(unlocks the phone)
ROM: dcd3.2.6
RADIO: 3.42.50(GPS enabled0
also no2chem puts out nueROM which is presently up to nueROM3 (for a small donation, it can be yours).
You can also get the complete kitchen from ppckitchen.org
Good luck. If you have any success upgrading your phone, please post it here. I too am on a small local carrier probably in a boat similar to you.
stock roms are available usually on htc's site...

Yeah, but only if you are with a major carrier to the best of my knowledge. Those of us with tier 2 carriers don't get to enjoy that benefit. That is why we constantly want to know how to extract the ROMs from our phone. That way we too could try other ROMs and restore to our carriers ROM if we cannot get it working.

Yeah, with my Palm I could get Cellular South stock rom; however I have not seen it on the HTC website.
I would like to test with my Titan, however I would like to have my stock rom saved to fall back on if need be. There has to be a pretty straight forward method to backup/save your stock rom; I just haven't been able to get my hands on it!
Someone that makes/mods ROMs might be able to help you with dumping your stock rom. The names that come to mind are scrosler, dcd, and gc14. Bitserve took over scrosler's ROM so might have some idea as well.
I apologize to those mentioned above if you get unwanted attention now.
cellular south 6800
I have a cellular south 6800 and hacked it up a while back. All cell south 6800's run a stock sprint rom and just had the names on it changed to cellular south. Cell south actually bought them from Sprint then just rebadged them. You can download the stock sprint rom that is on them from sprint or from here on the forums somewhere (found it in another post a while back). Because of this I did not make a backup of mine before I changed it. I did run into minor problems during the change but only because I lost my epst settings and did not make a good backup of them before I started. I just copied what I needed off a friends 6800.
Backup your epst setting by writting ALL of them down then put nuerom2.4.7 on it and you are good to go. Write down the rom version that is listed in epst. If you ever need to go back you just load up the stock sprint rom.
Thank you greatly for your response; I have been reading and searching for days to resolve this.
Have a Great Day!

If you've worked with CellSouth phones, maybe you can help me. I updated my phone using the Sprint ROM now available on HTC's web site. I messed up, left the phone unattended, and when I got back, my daughter had performed the steps that let the Sprint authorization take place. So I have a Sprint-inized phone. I've got it working, but it keeps changing my dialer settings to a Sprint PCS dialer that won't allow me to save the user name and password.
I need to get back to the stock ROM, but I can't find one. I do find the 2.17 for a Sprint, but the radio ROM is lower than the 1.69 that was on the phone.
Or, I need to know if I can flash another ROM, keeping the current radio.
The original device info:
ROM 2.17.557.0
ROM Date 11/20/07
Radio Version: 1.69.00
Protocol Ver: ACAAAAM-4070
Hardware Ver: 0003
PRL Version: 10002
PRI Version: 1.34_013
It was running WM6.0
The new Device info:
ROM Version 3.56.651.0
ROM Date 06/16/08
Radio Version 3.42.02
Protocol Ver. DCAAXAM-4350H
Hardware Ver. 0003
PRL Version 10002
PRI Version 2.04_003
WM 6.1

I am not with your carrier but I can answer this part. If you have the correct spl 2.40 or 2.47 then yes you can flash the roms here and it will leave the radio alone.
Thanks!
So that means no locking, reverting to stock, then flashing.. just flashing the new?
In the mean time, I was able to load the Telus carrier Cab from DCD and it gave me a modem that I can edit. So, I'm able to do my data connection without headaches.
If I could get the Sprint apps off of it, things probably would be cool. But there seems to be people getting better GPS results and cooler apps with other ROMS. So, maybe I'll give one of them a try.

looking for stock verizon rom 1.14

does anybody know where I can get the offical rom that verizon put on the touch pro. They tell me its 1.14. I am working with them to get my sprint branded phone on the network. So far they are working with me but want teh stock ROM installed.
I have found the "leaked pre release rom" but this is older then 1.14.
Thanks.

I was told by multiple people that the LEAKED was the same as the stock. I dumped mine when I got it, but could never find any help getting the RAW's converted into an NBH for flashing. I still have them if the leaked isn't the same and someone wants to help
your not going to be able to find that unless verizon has released it themselves, which im almost positive hasn't happened yet
Just download this one and install it. Its the leaked version but it works fine.
Also you dont have to have stock rom, but if they really want you to, just use the one HERE
also you should check out ppcgeeks.com It is much better than xda for CDMA upgrades etc. xda=GSM PPCGEEKS=CDMA

I don't know how to do this either but ImCokeman has offered to help build these dumps into a useable format.
Check out this thread.

Can I flash the Latest HTC ROM on T mobile G2

I am bit intimidated here. Only started using Hero for a week. Used to serial flasher of Windows mobile. Anyway,
I have a G2 with ROM version 1.76; I just wondered if I would be able to flash the new 2.73 ROM (official) on G2. When I insert the my serial number on the HTC website, it says the this ROM is not suitable for my device. I guess it is because it was intended for unbranded Hero. I have downloaded the ROM from XDA. Can I just run it flash it on G2..? Is there any precautions I need to take. HTC may release a new ROM for Tmobile G2. Bur I dont have the patience to wait. Any info will be highly appreciated.
Regards
Anyone tried this..? Or will I brick my phone..?
To be honest, if you're not going to install a custom ROM, you probably might as well wait until the T-Mobile release of the ROM. I doubt it will be long now, and it will just make the process a "little" easier and you'll have less issues if you end up having to send the phone back under warranty.
For what it's worth, I flashed my G2 with Modacos ROM without issue (currently at 2.2 as it seems 2.3 has more issues).
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for your reply. I am not planning to install any custom ROMs yet. But I would like to try the official ROM. Do u think it would be problem if I upgrade with generic 2.73 ROM..?
Another issue is, I cannot sync with HTC sync. I am using vista Home premium. Phone says it cannot detect HTC sync on computer. I tried turning off the Frewall and antivirus. Any ideas..?
You won't break anything. I downloaded the "official" 2.73 ROM from Modaco and it's running fine on my T-Mobile G2.
I phoned tech support about this in the UK and after a long and heated argument got the guy to actually give me the information. He said that the Update for the T-mobile version of the Hero would be released on the 1st November. This is really poor work, especially as Orange have managed it in about a week.
According to the Official T-Mobile UK forum they are 'hoping' to get it released this week.
Also try updating HTC Sync. The version on the HTC support site is a later version than the one on the memory card. You might find it works better.

ROM upgrade required or not?

Hi
I have an Orange (UK) HTC Hero. Works fine actually. However, i spotted a ROm upgrade dated 2010-02-04 on the HTC website (ROM Version:2.73.61.66 for Orange). Currently I am running version 2.73.61.5.
Do I get any benefit from upgrading to the new ROM version, and if yes, what would the benefit be?
Also, I understood from HTCs website that an upgrade wipes out everything on my phone, including Orange's setup. Does this mean that the phone also becomes sim free?
If I do perform the upgrade, how can I restore Orange's settings? SHould I write them down before I perform the upgrade, or could I go to the Orange shop and ask them to set it up for me?
Any advice would be appreciated
Anyone ???
Bro I M Also facing the same situation .. I Also want to know the Ans. can anyone Helps me ? Should I install New RUU ? Or not ?
I wouldnt update, as this is still Android 1.5. Don't forget, that the offical 2.1 update will be released in june.
Actually, by now Orange UK is the only provioder worldwide that has not rolled out 2.1 for the Hero. So I say screw them, and I went for villainROM 12. Best thing I ever did, except I probably need to update the radio firmware, as now it seems to have degraded reception.
I now got all the goodies one would want on my hero. Now to unlock it! (but I know where to get a code for that, so no worries).
Remain in that version 2.73.61.5. it's very easy to root from there. the latest one .61.66 won't allow you to root.
