Also plz look at the thread by dcs to avoid any country-id errors (which you might encounter since you have currently an O2 rom active)
I don't understand how the Tmo Netherland applets would be usefule for a T-Mobile USA user.
Me neither, but it seems to work!
Plus: You het (the possibility) of the T-Mobile looks
Where can I get idiot instructions how to do it. I do have Ruu...edsubsoft....exe

I see, would looking forward for that.
My x01ht will arrive by next weeek too
Hi!
can I buy the x01ht sim free and unlocked? Or is it only on Contract from SoftBank?
Ofiaich
>can I buy the x01ht sim free and unlocked?
It is solded SIM-locked. There is no way to unlock it yet. You cannot change the ROM, either, yet.
>Or is it only on Contract from SoftBank?
Yes, it is only available with a contract with SB.
The price I paid for my x01ht was about US$170 under a contract with which you have to keep using the device with SB for 26 months. There is no official SIM-lock option no matter how long you use your device or phone, which is typical and common in Japan.
As long as you use it in Japan, it's a f**king great deal!!
qtotter,
thanks for your reply, I thought as much.....
I travel to Japan every year and stay for 14-20 days.
I guess I should just get a Vodafone UK version and put Japanese input on it..
Not sure just how simple that is though...
Ofiaich
Ofiaich,
Unless you use X01HT in Japan, it would be a useless device elsewhere. Anyway, if you read Japanese, visit this site for guidance to install Japanese fonts and the input method.

It is not really difficult if you understand the steps in a right order. You will need ATOK for PocketPC (which you can buy online at http://www.justsystem.co.jp/atok/atok_ppc/)
The key point is if you install ATOK on WM5.0, it tries to become the default SIP which makes the device hung up. This also happens when you change ATOK setting in Control Pannel. "Def Sip Changer" is a useful tool that detects and prevent ATOK from becoming the default SIP. http://d.hatena.ne.jp/KOTETU/00000110
There is another option. It seems like the ROM of Docomo's HTC z has been posted somewhere on the net (Unfortunately, not here... why?) If the bootloader of the Vodafone Hermes is older, you can burn this ROM to make it a Japanese device.
Good luck!

Click to collapse
Bootloader on SoftBank X01HT is 1.06, if the Docomo hTc Z rom has been released, then it will not match the CID on Softbank's device and he'll not be able to flash it
BTW, where is the Docomo hTc Z rom? do you have a link for it?
Hi pof,
I have not downloaded the ROM myself yet, but the link to the ROM is as follows.
http://www.live-share.com/files/54847/Herm_China.rar.html
I was not suggesting ofiaich try Docomo ROM on X01HT, which does not make any sense. I meant he could try the Docomo ROM on a UK Vodafone (not SB) Hermes since he was thinking about UK VF although I am not sure about the bootloader version of the UK VF unit.
Lol, downloading now... if it's an hermes rom we don't have then I'll put it on the ftp / wiki
Thanks for the link!

If anyone can provide a USB sniff of the process it would help us develop a free unlocker

Make sure you've chosen 3G connection when you created a new modem connection.
Did that - maybe I need to try another ROM....
Hi folks, I've read through the Wiki and threads but I'm unsure if I can flash my recently bought V1650 with the Orange SPV3100 ROM. Can anyone tell me if it will work? I currently use an Orange M5000 and would like to use my sim in my V1650 (It's already SIM unlocked).
Many thanks.
It'll work, just ensure that your device is super CID...
I hope you mean v1605
Oops a bit too eager with the keyboard - it's the v1605.
Will change to SuperCID and try the latest Orange Rom. Thanks folks.
If it's sim unlocked then you do not need to flash an Orange ROM for your sim to work, unless it's the Orange customisations that you're after, which you can also get as a seperate cab.
i recently upgraded my unlocked X01HT to WM6 using the 838Pro_HK_ENG_WM6_Upgrade_20070712 ROM available for this website. now that i have all my settings correct to my carrier (at&t). i have a roaming icon that comes u sporadically.
help?
This has been a known mysterious bug to do with how the os, sim card, & network carrier interact. Most fixes have been by changing roms. Here's the original thread info which might help or u can post at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295871
i was actually able to get this fixed. i found a cingular rom in the windows mobile 6 forum for this phone and found that it fixed the issue i was having.
I currently have RUU_Leo_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe but since I have a lot of problems with my Leo with that ROM (e.g. sometimes it won't charge at all until I soft-reset it, some notifications like for example PockeTwit are not working, WiFi doesn't work probably most of the times even when I'm just a few foot steps away from the access point I'm connecting to, the phone suddenly doesn't recognize the MicroSD card anymore after a Soft-Reset) I wonder if my phone's hardware is actually broken or if it might be just a problem with the ROM.
Based on my experiences with other HTC phones I previously had (Touch 2, Touch Diamond 2) I think that with HTC the operator branded ROMs are better optimized and tested when it comes to stability and performances than the generic unbranded (retail) ones.
So now I'm looking for an operator branded WWE ROM for my European 512Leo. I would go with the latest O2 ROM but unfortunately that is for the UK and so it has that stupid EU imposed volume capp and I really don't want that. Of course the T-Mobile US ROM won't work on my 512Leo so the only alternative I could think about is the Telstra Australia ROM but unfortunately that is pretty old
So does anybody know any other official branded Non-EU WWE stock ROMs I could try or is that Telstra one really the only one for my "special needs"
Thanks
karlmueller
I figured out that "RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_3.14.531.1_Radio_Signed_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_2_Ship.exe" works on my EU Leo perfectly (when flashed with Gold Card) - so no need to find a different ROM anymore
thx
karlmueller
Also, no need for goldcard, hspl will do that for you no problem.
