Corrupted Image - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I recently tried to flash my 8525 with the more stable roms out there, BLINKY 3.5, PDACorner V.11. Everytime i try and load the RUU my devices starts the process but kicks out after 1% everytime and tells me that i have a corrupt image file.
I suspect the issue is with my spl version. I have 2.04 and the installer i think needs atleast 2.11.
How do I upgrade to that from where I am now?
Thanks

Make sure that you have got a full rom download. Also flash on Hard SPL. This is found in the upgrade section. Its a must as it "supercids" your device making it possible to flash non stock roms...Please note however that if your hermes is still under warranty it will void it.....Cheers...

I'd just like to jump in and say I was having the SAME problem, even with the same ROMs and I did as mentioned above.... Upgraded Hard SPL and when given the choice of how to flash choose the one that says 2.10 and check Hard- SPL.
Thanks for all the help here, these forums are life savers.

Personally, I prefer the sd card method to using the pc... I find it safer with 100% success rate...
Cheers...

Vario 2 won't flash after Unlocker3a

Hey there,
got a "new" device by T-Mob and wanted to unlock it again. So I did, and unlocking worked so far. Now I want to flash the original shipped Rom by T-Mob Germany, but this doesn't work. Device changes to bootloader and than the computer tells me to check the cable. Tried to flash the rom with changing to bootloader and than start flashing, too, but same error. I tried to flash the unlocker-radio-rom again and that works.
Now I need a solution to flash original T-Mob shipped (WM5).
Any ideas?
Update: Flashing with Custom RUU and the nbh-file from original Rom works. But still no 'normal' flashing possible.
Is it possible to set back SPL 1.04 instead of 1.40.Olipro (by the way nice work Olipro, but not for warranty-reasons )
No idea anybody?
This issue has been documented to DEAT, the reason a standard RUU program doesnt work correctly is because there is a modified (and FAR SUPERIOR) bootloader on the device and the RUU doesnt understand what it is.
CustomRUU can detect it because olipro has built the support for the different SPL versions into it.
It is highly recommended that you update to HardSPLv7 (SPL version 2.10.olipro) as this protects your device against a load of possible ways to really damage your device.
By following the guides i have compiled on "how to safely flash WM5" and the various downgrade/upgrade guides on my site you might see how much better CustomRUU and nbh editting is.....also i recommend you read the wiki before going any further.
Thank you so much! Will try it tomorrow! I know, that the newer SPL-stuff is better, but I'm not so much into it, because I just run the WM5-Rom and wanted a SIM-Unlock. Because of warranty reasons (on 2nd device) I want to get back to the original SW SPL and so on. But I really think of installing WM6 when my device is completely back alive Thank you

Orange SPV M3100 flash to WM6 (or 6.1), help needed

I have just downloaded and run this file with my phone attached to my computer and Activesync 4.5 running etc ->
RUU_Hermes_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.54.707.3_6275_1.47.00.10_108_Ship.exe
It went ok to the point where it said Invalid Operator ID or something similar, in other words, silly old Orange have stopped the upgrade from going through somehow. What are my options now? I'm guessing its still possible to upgrade (although i don't know how, as i'm very novice at upgrading phones!)
please let me know what i can do now.
hi i have a a orange spv m3100 and recently put on a wm6 rom upgrade found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320829
i did put hard spl v7 on before i upgraded to this. it all worked fine and i was not stopped by orange as it lets you put roms on that are not the same CID as your device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
hard spl v7 is on this page and once that is on your hermes the rom should go on easily
ok will look into that, thank you.
a friend at work suggested using the Black firmware, would that be advisable? he has had success with it.

The reason you get an invalid vendor ID is because you havent put HardSPL on, and your CID doesnt match that of a dopod device (see the filename). CID is something you NEED to know about before flashing stuff dude, the more reading you do the better you will understand the device and the flash process. These devices are shipped with a CID which restricts them to use only ROMs intended for them....so your device will only flash Orange ROMs in its current state.
ok i have got as far as flashing the Pro Black 3.0.1 rom, it went well, only thing was, the phone was still locked after the upgrade, so i just ran the v3a unlocker on it, and it has now been unlocked.
my question now is why did it change the radio? what radio is best for the SPV M3100?
I should mention i am in the UK.
What was the radio before? Check what your friend has as this may be the best. Don't go for the latest update and Make sure you use the sd card method to flash (less things go wrong as it is dependant on the sd card inserted in your phone and your battery being charged, NOT on a flaky usb cable and pc that can be pulled out or reset/turned off). This is the riskiest part to flash making almost 100% permanent bricks if there is a problem.
My advice, use the one that your friend is using (if he knows anything about flashing he probably is a ppc flashing junkie like just about everyone else here) and use the sd card method.
As a footnote, radio roms are carrier specific - your carrier decides what is the best radio rom and using the wrong one means call dropouts and/or severe battery drainage or you.

very foolishly, before flashing the phone with the unlocker, i didnt check the radio ROM. (though i have a feeling it was around the 1.38-1.48 mark)
i'm on Vodafone though. Isn't there one standard radio (to rule them all) that most of us in the UK can get away with?
edit: im looking at the HTC Official Europe WM6 rom that comes with the built-in 1.48 radio, it would make sense that they know what the best radio is, since they make the phones...

after much reading of the threads on this forum, its starting to make sense.
one thing i still am not sure about is SSPL.
Should booting into the SSPL bootloader allow me to flash *any* rom, cos thats what this thread is claiming -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293651
but when i just now tried starting the SSPL-HERM.exe and then running the HTC WM6 firmware that i found through a bit of guesswork, it still got to the same Invalid Vender (sic) ID part!
Am i using the SSPL-HERM file the right way?
about the radio i am using vodafone as i unlocked my spv i have 1.47.30.10 found on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326995
this is working well for me at the moment.
as for your question about flashing the roms i use the hard spl v7 which i flashed the offical htc rom with i then used this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
to unlock my phone and super cid it i have since flashed black satin and schap's wm6 pro 4.31 and both went on fine
gd luck ask if ur not sure about any of this
Flash Hard SPL back on as it has been downgraded to 1.10 olipro instead of 2.10 olipro. This is for safeties sake.
You don't need to use sspl to flash os's from the sd card IF you have SPL 2.10 olipro installed. Just rename the .nbh file (on sd card) to hermimg.nbh and reboot into bootloader with sd card inserted. Too easy..

Need some quick help!

I recently flashed my Wizard with TNT WM6 and I am getting all kinds of problems so I am wanting to bring it back to Wizard Love so I can attempt TNT's again and avoid a "bad flash".
My question is, do I need to put the phone in the bootloader (i.e. the 3 colored bars?) or can I flash it with the phone loaded and everything. I am using RUU to flash.
Or do I need to use ShellTool?
If its a G3,then simply hook up the phone with pc and run the RUU,it'll reflash, there's no need to get into Bootloaders (RGB Screen).
But if its a G4,then how did you upgrade first,if through HardSPL,then again just hook up and run the RUU,well,if you used Shelltool, then there's no need to go through again with Shelltool.Get the phone HardSPL once, then you can flash any rom as much as you like
I used shelltool for the first flash, but it kind messed up so I had to redo Wizard Love with the RGB boot loader.
If I remember correctly by "messed up" I think it froze during flashing.
Yes I do have a G4
well do as zabardast_1's has said and flash HardSPL to your g4 wizard and then you can just flash another cooked rom
and added....Don't use ShellTool again even you are using a G4! RUU can be used on G4 directly given that you have installed HardSPL and you are going to flash a custom ROM posted here.
So even though ShellTool kinda messed up, my device is still HardSPL'ed?
To be safe you can flash using Softspl , that is the way i flashed few times althouhg my wizard was hardspl and it was ok. If you have hardspl try using Mun's RUU . Both methods worked fine for me.
Ok, I just re-flashed my G4 with Wizard Love using the RUU that it came with and everything seemed to work fine. Does this mean that my HardSPL was successful? See what I think had happened was I flashed TNT's rom with ShellTool and not RUU after I had HardSPL'ed my device. Could that have had something to do with it?
Thanks for all the help so far, you guys have been very knowledgeable.

Ah! You are mixing up all three methods Shelltool,RUU,HardSPL together, they all are different methods to flash a rom.Shelltool is a different method then RUU(RomUpdateUtility) and HardSPL(Patched IPL/SPL) is altogether a different process to flash and upgrade a G4 device.
Try to read all about these methods for better understanding.
Here, I wud not like to go into details, you can read about these methods in their respective threads.
Flashing wizard_love rom doesn't mean your phone is HardSPL'd ? No,wizard_love rom is a patched rom,it'll flash to any G4 device with original official IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) running on it,but if the phone is HardSPL'd,it flashes patched IPL/SPL,thus tricking it to think its semi-permanent CID unlocked, after this its possible to flash any wm6.1 custom rom.But flashing a wizard_love,it still has its own official IPL/SPL,but you cannot upgrade to any wm6 rom as its not CID unlocked. As a G4 device cannot be CID unlocked like a G3 phone,so KardSPL is applied to make it trick into semi-permanent CID unlock, whereas, its in fact CID locked, but here its possible to upgrade to any wm6 rom, hope you got my point !!!
So,if you want to upgrade to wm6 or flash TNT wm6.1 rom,you have to first apply HardSPL,it'll change the IPL/SPL of the phone, only then you can flash TNT wm6.1 rom
Ok yeah thanks for clearing that up for me I was trying to update my phone with the RUU that came with TNT .20273, but it kept giving me an Error 300 which I am assuming that means its not HardSPL'ed. So from the sounds of it, I would probably like to get my phone HardSPL to I can flash any new roms that come out. I was under the assumption that ShellTool was HardSPL'ing my phone, but I guess not. Before I proceed to the next step, is this the instructions I should be following?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332320
EDIT:
Ok, I went ahead and HardSPL'ed my device. I followed the instructions on that thread and everything seems to be working. I get SoftSPL: something something olipro so I am guessing thats good. I am still having problems when I go to flash TNT. I am trying to use the RUU that is included with TNT, but I keep getting Error 300 (Invalid Update Tool).
ok,download 'Mun's RUU' from the HardSPL thread you just posted above and replace the RUU in this zipfile with RUU in the TNT rom and run this replaced RUU,it'll work and flash the rom
I have everything all set and I am rocking TNT .191213. Thanks for all the help guys!!

RAPH Paper weight - SPL

Dear all,
I am facing a problem here.
Had a hardware problem with the built in microphone and had to revert back to stock rom/splash screen/Original SPL in that order.
Had no problems reverting the ROM and the original screen back (just a couple of flashes), BUT when I tried to revert back the stock SPL here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=110582&d=1220406410
I renamed the file to RAPHIMG.nbh, copied it to the root of the SD Card and entered bootloader mode and this is what it displays:
RAPH100
SPL-1.90.0000 (Which means a successful flash)
!!! AND THEN THIS !!!
"Upgrade ROM code error"
"Please try again"
This message is located in the last part of the green stripe in the tri color screen (bootloader)
It is then followed by the grey screen automatically which you are supposed to press volume key to start a flash process BUT it just HANGS at Loading...
unabling you to flash anything.
It's actually a friend's phone too so I guess you understand how hard it is....
Any help is appreciated
Thanks in advance
Possible image might be corrupt on sd card, grey screen is shown when it's trying to read sd, have you tried with sd removed? if you get to 2nd tricolor screen with sd removed i would use usb flash to restore it to working order..

Also, displaying the Upgrade ROM code error, please try again message
The mode is currently serial
What can I do from here?

You cannot flash an SPL from the bootloader. You need to use SSPL. The directions can be found in the HardSPL thread.

Hey man, thx for stopping by..
If I understand correctly, SSPL runs through the device which is stuck at bootloader currently... or am I hopefully wrong??
If you're at the tricolor screen and it reads serial, that should be fine.. plug in usb and it should switch to usb.. then flash a stock carrier rom through usb.. that should get you up and running and you can then run sspl and flash your spl

Keep in mind im currently on stock SPL, do u think flashing the stock ROM is ok?
That's exactly why i suggested stock ROM, stock SPL will only accept stock ROM's (it will overwrite the spl too so make sure the stock rom you are using is the right one)
dude....i hate to say this...butyou might be s.o.l. at this point. i did the same to my fuze not too long ago... tryingto flash anything to the phone just locks it up.i was lucky enough to bs my way through an att guy to get me a new one (was still under the 30 day warranty).

I had the same problem as you and could not flash any rom, Always get Invalid vendor ID.
You need the right Stock Rom to flash and in my case in the middleeast, the Stock Rom is so far only available in at HTC.
I had to take the phone to HTC Service Center and they flashed the correct Stock Rom and charged me as they did it out of warranty.

Sorry about my last post... I misread your issue.
If you flashed the stock 1.90 SPL from the HardSPL thread, then you will need to ask Olipro (or cmonex) which WWE ROM it originated from. That ROM is the ONLY one your phone will accept.
The steps in reverting SPL for warranty / return state to always do the ROM first so that you do not run into this problem. I had the same issue when I was testing a US 3G Diamond I bought from Best Buy (to become acclimated to TF3D prior to the Fuze's release). I restored the SPL first, and then couldn't get Dutty's ROM off the phone, because I could not locate a downloadable version of the WWE ROM that phone came with. [Luckily, Best Buy Mobile's employees in KOP, PA aren't too clever, and I was able to convince them that the phone came that way. ]

Hmm, then I need to know from which ROM the SPL originated and then flash it.
Thing is, some of the shipped roms available at wiki are just nbh files..
I tried flashing with the wrapper exe and the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe and still all roms I've downloaded don't seem to work.
It's a RAPH100 untied to a network.

Post in the HardSPL thread asking which ROM the SPL originated from. Once you know that, you can download the appropriate ROM from the Wiki.

SPL has nothing to do with the Invalid Vendor ID Error, It is the CID. In another word you can flash SPL 1.95 and still can not flash the AT Rom 1.95.502.5 because the CID is different.

ViperBJK's QMAT features GoldCard generator for current HTC devices that can force RUU to bypass CID check.
Do you know what is the CID of your device?

The CID is determind by the SPL.
Look up the error code posted... everything points to HardSPL. Back in my Wizard days, HardSPL did not exist, and we just did a CID unlocking. This is not the case with newer devices.
All ROMs are not created equal. Each WWE ROM checks for specific information within the SPL, and if it doesn't find what it's expecting, fail...

I'm not sure
Where can I know that?
@NotATreoFan && Shafez,
I remember from TyTNII day when Shafez suggested extracting 3.29 and 28 SPLs from the newer shipped 6.1's for a better responsive device.
We could extract and build with htc rom tool if I remember the name of the tool correctly.
Do we have a tool as such compatible with TP? (agreeing with NotATreoFan here)
@Shafez,
Since you think it is not SPL and it is a CID issue, what can I do about it?
Sending it to SVC for repair out of warranty is an option but I'd like to leave it as my last.
Did they provide the ROM or they flashed it for you?
Were u able to make raw files out of it for future use or any1 else has it?
Thx guys and keep the help coming

Since you cannot get past the bootloader, your only option is to find the WWE ROM that matches the SPL you flashed. Even though the HTC ROM Tool "signs" the NBH file, it still won't fool the stock bootloader... if it did, we wouldn't need HardSPL.

[Q] HD2 Completely locked down

I have been searching and googling for over 2 hours straight and cant find any solution to my problem:
I was going to install the Custom HD2 Android. But my radio was to old. so I decided to update it with the newest rom.
I Installed the HSPL thingy, did the whole renaming and placement of LEOIMG.nbh
and tried to install it via bootloader. But it stopped at 9% telling me: "00028002 Not allowed"
So now I cant get passed a screen:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-3.03.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x30
Upgrade ROM code error
Please try again
USB
I'm starting to believe there is nothing I can do.. Cant access my sd card when plugged to the pc or nothing..
Is there ANYTHING someone can help me with?
I believe your problem lies with SPL 3.03. I don't think even the latest HSPL will work. I think what you have to do is flash an older stock ROM in order for your SPL to revert to 2.10. Then use HSPL3 to HSPL your device. Then you can flash any ROM you want.

won't work on none tmous phone because spl 3 won't let itself downgrade to spl1. just like spl2 wouldn't downgrade to 1.
the tmous users CAN downgrade from 3 to 2, but there are no spl2 roms for none tmous users.
@OP
if you have a tmous phone then flash a stock tmous rom from sd card.
if you have a normal hd2 then you are stuck on spl3 until hspl gets updated.
EDIT - my answer was incorrect, I was being wary until someone confirmed the spl CAN be downgraded by flashing a correct stock rom for your phone (USB is fine), or by using a goldcard.

you flashed the 3.x rom from sd card. the first thing an sd card flash does is remove hspl, and replace it with stock spl. next, the rom checks that the phone matches the rom, which in your case it doesn't, so it stops and fails.
you could try forcing an spl 2.08.0000 tmous rom on it using goldcard, in the hope it will then allow you to run hspl2.
But all of this requires me to have access to my sd card? I don't have that :\
ah ok.then its time to wait for the next hspl version to support spl3.x
Would it be too much to ask if you could send me a pm or a mail at [email protected] whenever that happens? Probably going back to a good old Sony Ericsson in the meantime, hehe
i'd like to say yes, but it could be several weeks, and i can barely remember to feed myself from one day to the next, so..... heh.
however When it does come out, it will be hard not to notice, just skim the latest thread titles every day or two.
edit - oh, and don't give up just yet, I could be mistaken, its not unusual!. i haven't touched the 3.x rom/spl yet, so i could be wrong.
this thread, for instance,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814838
suggests that the spl CAN be downgraded. reports are still confused.
you could for instance try flashing the 3.x rom over usb using SSPL, and then you'd at least have a working phone.
EDIT - MY RESPONSES IN THIS THREAD WERE NOT BASED ON ALL THE INFORMATION WE NOW HAVE REGARDING SPL 3.03
THE 3.03 SPL CAN BE DOWNGRADED EASILY BY USING THE CORRECT STOCK ROM FOR YOUR PHONE, FLASHED EITHER USB OR SD CARD.
