Radio 3.3x on verizon xv6800 and *228 doesn't work - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

I'm stuck. I've been through dcd 3.1.x and 3.27 only to find out no sound and then I tried to do 3.37 and 3.0.4 verizon and no go. Phone app says "Initial Programming Required". Can't dial *228, when I do a guy comes on and says it's an invalid code or number "error number 7". Oddly enough I can receive calls and sms messages.
Is this a simple problem with an a-key? When I went to stock after the failed 3.1.1 and 3.27 radio, I got a woman saying I had an auth error and to dial #8899. Called vzw and they gave me an a-key which fixed incoming and outgoing calls.

Sounds like an a-key.

If it's the a-key, how come *228 won't work and how come I don't get the message from the Verizon lady saying the phone can not be authenticated?

Part of this problem has been solved. Based on someone's suggestion on ppcgeeks.com, I needed to grab a PRL file and manually load it. Here's the post containing the replacement PRL http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20090
Only thing is the phone was programmed successfully with *228 but thinks its roaming. Still trying to get it resolved.

Radio 3.27 and Sprint Account

I just successfully installed radio 3.27 and the new DCD Gps Rom. My data connection is okay; however, when I try to make a call i get a message that account is not authorized to make calls. What happened???
YOur msid and msd has been clear out. Did u backup ur msd and msid? If not, *2 to call customer service to obtain it or request to fix your phone.
Thanks Astro!!! Phone is working and so is GPS!!
Mr_Sinister did you call sprint to get your settings fixed? I had the same thing happen to me.
I know you can get MSID from ##DATA#, but where do yo uget MSD?
I believe your MDN is your telephone number.
I had same simular problem. Tried sprint rom, dcd rom. All would allow phone calls to be made 40-50% of time after soft reboot. Followed the directions to the letter. MDN and msid were in place all the time. Even tried to reset them. Still no luck. Finally had to flash back to 2.17
If you have issues you can always dial *2 on the phone and get to a Sprint CSR..... tell them you hard reset the phone and it cleared your programming....

Problems sending MMS txts.

I'm having problems sending pictures. Sometimes it seems to work and sometimes it doesn't. I'm using GC Arcsoft MMS 5.0.31.25. Is that the latest version? I have to keep sending the picture over and over again and only sometimes it goes through. Any ideas on what might be wrong? Thanks!
Does it give an error?? You could be in a poor coverage area???

Reload the Verizon Carrier cab... then do *22899 and *228 , 2
I just recently upgraded from dcd 3.2.3 to 3.2.5, but I didn't really do any MMS messages before just SMS. It would give me two different error messages, the first one I can't remember, but the one that happens the most is, "No Valid Recipiants for this MM", but it is valid. It then saves it to the drafts, sometimes if I keep sending it over and over again it finally goes, but even though it says it goes they don't always get the picture. It's not poor coverage area. I'm sending from my house and I used to send pics all the time before I did the ROM upgrade and I just used my stock ROM. What's the latest version of the MMS software?
Also, when I do a SMS message I can type in a partial of the name of the person I want to send it to, but with the MMS not everyone is coming up like they do with the SMS messages.
Do I need to upgrade the Radio to the latest version .50? If I do that will it erase all my data or is that only when I do the DCD ROM upgrade? Thanks..

Please HELP!!! Can't Receive Calls

Sorry for the noob question, but i have looked everywhere and could not find an answer.
So yesterday I install nueSPL 2.47, on my Verizon XV6800 and then flashed to Radio 3.42.50 and then flashed to DCD Rom 3.2.6. I had some problems with authentication, so I called Verizon and they couldn't fix the problem at night because the system was down but they were able to fix things the next morning. Not sure what they did because they didn't give me a new A-Key over the phone.
So after that I was able to place calls out. I then downloaded the Verizon cab and was able to connect to the internet. I am also able to send and receive txt messages, but I can not receive phone calls. Now strangely after ending a call, I did receive one phone call but that was it. The rest of the time anyone calls it only rings on their end and then goes to voice mail. Then a few seconds later I will get a notification that I have a voicemail.
So since all this happened I have reflashed the dcd rom and reloaded the carrier cab. and called both *228 -1 and *228 -2. I still can call out, use gps, internet, and txt, but not get any calls. Any one have any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
that very interesting... I recently upgraded my father in law's phone and also experianed the same thing.
Also interesting, when I did the upgrade to my phone a few months ago I had to get an a key.. I also had to get one once after a hard reset. Perhaps they fixed something for this.
Keep calling VZW not all techs know what there talking about, eventuality you will run into one that know exactly how to fix your problem.

Phone Number Format

Quite a while ago, I flashed to DCD 3.2.6. After that, I noticed that I couldn't dial phone numbers from my contacts, but I could dial them directly. When I would dial using the contact, it would look like the call was going through, then I would get three error chimes and a message saying the call was disconnected.
Finally, I figured out that the difference is that in my contacts, the phone numbers all have "+1" before the number, i.e. "+1(206) 555-1212". This is the international prefix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_call_prefixes#Syntax).
I assumed that this was a problem with DCD 3.2.6. However, I just flashed DCD 4.1.2, and the same issue is there. I suppose I could go through all 223 of my contacts and edit the phone numbers to get rid of the plus sign. However, this is the correct format for a number, and non-custom ROMs have worked fine with it.
Anyone got an idea of how to get the dialer with DCD 4.1.2 to work with these phone numbers? I'm guessing I just need to change some configuration relating to my International Prefix (U.S.) Alternatively, does anyone know of a ROM that does work with these phone numbers and also keeps the GPS and tethering (via Internet Sharing) working on my Verizon XV6800?
Thanks,
Jamie
Got it
Okay, I found it.
In the dialer application, go to "Menu", "Options...", "Services" tab, scroll down to "Plus Code Dialing". The rest is self-explanatory.
Hopefully, this will save someone else some time.

Eris sms error code

Running xtrrom 4.6 flashed to metropcs. Everything works mms sms calls web gps the works but occasionally even though i have bars of service. It will say
"SMS error"
"error code:34
class:2"
sms error cause code 34 error class 2
I have googled and can not find a fix anywhere for this error or even what it means. Does anybody have any inclination? I believe it may have something to do with roaming settings because of the fact that it says i have service but refuses to send but could be wrong. It's never really a patterned error either it happens sporadically with no apparent common factor.
Also reading how other people got it fixed by calling vzw but since i am on metro and they don't support the eris i am almost positive that the effort to call them will be in vain. Also metro is notorious for horrible customer care and tech support.
Also have tried dialing *228 to reprogram.
I get that error code occasionally when trying to browse the internet and send text messages at the same time. I dont know how to fix your problem but you arent alone.
I think it is something that means you are either receiving a phone call or text message while you are trying to send. Sometimes I get it and it annoys the crap out of me.
