how do i access the extended rom? - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

i want to backup all the stuff that comes with the latest leaked rom, sprint telenav is working for me and i want to install it on dcd rom

Just download and install the CAB directly from Telenav.
The other apps that you wish to keep you can probably also find CAB files or OEMs to add to the kitchen of your choice.
Anyways, here's a link to the extended ROM contents from the 3.35 release:

How to unhide ExtROM with DCD 2.2.6

Yes, I have used the search trying to answer this question. Before I upgraded to DCD 2.2.6 ROM, I was able to hide/unhide the ExtROM in the EXT_FLASHDRV registry entry. Now, after installing 2.2.6, the EXT_FLASHDRV key is not present. I have tried adding it with no luck. So is it possible to unhide the ExtROM after installing 2.2.6 or do I need to go back to the stock ROM, unhide, then reinstall 2.2.6?
I do not think rolling back to the stock rom, unhiding and then flashing Dcd's 2.2.6 rom again will keep the extrom unhidden. The rom currently flashed will install in it's originally fabricated state.
Unfortunately with this in mind, I do not have a answer for unlocking Dcd's rom if you have already tried with no success the registry edit. Maybe Dcd will release a version that implements the same extrom unlocker like no2chem's nueExtRom which is available on build 5047...

physically, the partition is still there but the driver is not loaded and the device will not see the extrom at all. what do you need it for?
i don't know if it is in there, and some people will probable think i'm crazy (which isn't too far from the truth), but i was wanting to get the sprint yellow today color scheme. just got used to it and personally like it better than the ones availabe.
install htcustom 1.8...go to the last tab on the program and u should see unhide ext rom or something similar...select that and click save...u might get error...just quit...soft reset using a program not the hole on bottom...and u should see ext rom
With advanced configuration, I believe you can both unhide the ext rom, and unlock it, allowing you to clear the contents.

Kill the customizations when using DCD 3.2.5?

Quick semi-noob question...is it necessary to kill the customizations that run after first coming into the OS after loading DCD 3.2.5? I've been looking around, that would make sense if loading a carrier/OEM ROM, particularly where you have put a SPRINT ROM onto a VZW phone etc...but I would think DCD's ROM is not carrier-specific in any way...so my assumption is you let it run because it has some clean-up/util installations, then go ahead and run your carrier-specific CAB afterwords???
You are correct. You only need to kill the customizations if you are running an official ROM on an unsupported phone (ie: Sprint Rom on Verizon phone)
The customizations on the DCD ROMs are actually user customizations off the SD Card. You can set up a bunch of CAB files, etc. to be installed automatically after a hard reset. For instance, mine is set to reinstall all my applications and set the registration codes for purchased software after a reset. More information can be found here. It's really quite handy and can save a lot of time after flashing. In a way it's better than a backup and restore because a lot of backup programs have some issues after a ROM change. In other ways, it's not so good (still haven't found where opera stores it's registration code for instance). It also gives you a clean system without the grunge from your old setup that a backup/restore would put in.
Thanks guys...yeah, I knew about the user UC stuff you can do to install CABs, etc. Pretty neat stuff, this is my first time using DCD as my prior phone was Apache with various Helmi ROMs. I will look into that, nice way to get it all back on quickly if things get hosed up. I just wasn't sure if I short-changed the DCD ROM by aborting the customizations, I noticed a couple of often-desired utils aren't in the image (like PDF viewer) and wasn't sure if they get installed with letting that fly instead of killing it...but do see that the idea of the DCD ROM is to be pretty stripped/clean anyway.

Anything on old Extended Storage I need?

Before I flashed my custom ROM (dcd) I saved/backed up the old Verizon 'Extended ROM' area. Is there anything from that that I need to run after I do my custom install? I didn't know if it had specialized software on it (like the voice dialer, etc)
Chimp (Tom)
No, there is nothing you will NEED, but I just put those files on my storage card for safe keeping. Storage cards are huge and chep, so may as well just keep itm that's what I did...it takes up very little space.
Connor,
Yep, that is exactly what I meant - I saved the files to my MicroSD storage card. Just wanted to make sure I didn't need to run anything off of that.
Thanks!
Chimp (Tom)
Yeah, this is all I install/download when I want to update my phone:
1-DCDs latest pre-made ROM (I do not use the kitchen, it's pointless)
(always being updated)
2-Verizon carrier cab
(can also be found on DCD's latest ROM link)
3-Arcsoft MMS cab

4-Optimized 3D Drivers
LINK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416640&highlight=3d+driver
Then for myself, I install: TomTom 7, HTC Home 2.1, Agile Messenger, a few games like Znax, then set up my email and reimport my contacts, then I am done

I Did, currently google apps flash-able package is available for CM7 ROMs but cant find for froyo.
And another point is, i corrupted my market app.. cant download any app now
I think Google talk is also not available in the android market.
why i posted:
ROM developers may have it that's why i posted maybe someone can provide one.
otherwise i will extract apk from ROM and try to create update zip. might be useful for others too
GApps packages are only for CM Rom's (And AOSP ones), since, those ROMs by themselves do not have any Google copyrighted stuff.
Sense based ROMs do not need GApps packages because most of them include it by default. Or, even if they do not include the apps package, they include atleast the Market app,
Seeing that, as you have put, your best bet would be to extract the APK and create the Update Zip yourself.
Looks like there is more than corrupt application in my case. I have created and flashed update even individually installed apks and services over existing ROM but getting FC on launching the application. Setup Wizard doesn't seems to work anymore and getting FC in loops.
Some unknown system components or services also seems to be affected. I think I would need to go back and restore nandroid or reflash the ROM
time to flash a New ROM for primary use. and keeping nandroid backups for test purpose. as a Primary ROM I will prefer CM 7.0.3, Wildpuzzel freezes sometimes during a call. i have used cm7 before but for test purpose. So i till go for CM7 and look for solution to connect ad-hoc wifi
why not just reflash your rom and make a backup of any data you want before hand

[Q] How could I backup my entire rom or the installed apps?

Well since WM 6.5 is closed, I would say I should worry if I ever had to hard reset. So trying to secure myself now. Now I know how to back up the prefs and so, also have my other cabs that auto install. Its just those apps from Windows Market that I need a way to back up. Anyone have some insight into this and that could guide me to the right spot? Thanks. =)
backup entire rom with spb.
you should find all the apps on some of the forums if you google.
I never used the market as google found me the cabs & I kept the best builds of all my important apps.
Make a list if you need some & see if we can help ...
15-20$ app? Really? Is that the only real way?
you could use the cab extracted from asian rom
