XDA Comet = Atom Life??Really?Wich Rom?? to use?? - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom ROM Development

Hi,
i have recently bought an "O2 XDA Comet".
As i have read it should be the same device like the Atom Life.
Well the original ROM is a little bit buggy!!
The device sometimes hang and must be restarted.
I would like to change the ROM.
Is here any one who has the same problem?
Maybe somebody could give me an advice.
Ahh! And how can i make a Backup of the original ROM??
Thank You a Lot!!!

hm.. why atom have a lot of bug?? i hear many people complaint.. hmm..

Well as i already mentioned i have a german O2 Version and the Problem is, that it sometimes "hangs". I think it has something to do with the CPU-Management.
So i thought, maybe the AtomLife ROM is better in this way.
I also read that tere is a PowerManagement utility.

Well if it would not hang sometimes, i would change anything then.

Safest WM6 Rom

All,
i've tried several Roms in the last few months, and they all have their advantages and disadvantages. Each one has some nice applications and functions, which others do not have.
It's all fun to play with....but, with a risk: problems.
Unfortunately, my Prophet is also the one i must use on a daily basis for business use, so really must minimize the risk, i.e. freezes, lock ups, hard resets, etc.
Now the question might be a bit unfair, because we all have fun playing with the various ROMs, but, which WM6 is the safest ROM?
I mean, which does not have the following problems
Regular Freezes (occassionally is ok, but not regularly)
Hard resets (deadly)
Bluetooth not working
WLAN not working
Charging not working from USB or car or etc.
etc.
Again, don't misunderstand me: i have as much fun playing with the various ROMs as anyone, but the problem's mentioned above are starting to really bother me.
So, in the absence of someone telling me i must go back to WM5 (not!), which is the most robust WM6 rom?
thanks.

Your prophet is a QTEKS200?
It is a Neo (O2)
I think the best thing for you is to use WM5 since there are too many known issues with WM6 on the prophet. the most stable ROM I've personally ever used was the shipped ROM from the manufacturer. Otherwise, you should have a good idea of what wm6 rom works for you since you've already tried them all.
I agree with Yellow. If you have to depend on your device for bussiness purposes, don't fool around. If your budget can carry it, find yourself an other for fun!
well, to be fair he only said he'd tried several, not all of them...
I agree with you, though, people should stick with WM5 for now if you/your work depends upon reliable features and rock-solid stability...Having said that, IMO the later WM6's are getting pretty good, general consensus seems to be pdaviet atm although i found fantastic mobiz to be pretty stable too.
I'm also hearing good things about Gullum's efforts...
to be honest I doubt there will ever be a fully bug-free+stable WM6, but then what do I know?*
*answer=not much but I'm learning (thanks to this forum! Cheers everyone! )
i also got the o2 neo, and there are no problems with the newest WM6 RomZ witz freezing or WLAN or whatever. I suggest u try the newest touch releases 4.0.0.6 . if it dosnt fit your needs just flash back to original o2 release u can find on the o2 homepage. greetz vince^^

Just wondering if O2 has release an official english version of WM6 somewhere?
I am using my s200 for business to. But as the autor said is funny to play with our gadget. I am using now CrystalV4(personal).I will not say is the best rom here but is the best for my needs. Fast, not many programs inside(The programs are good) but i dont need them. I just want office-some util for maintance-Gps softare & some games.Cube also is great but after sometime it get boring.
So +1 CrystalV4

I use my XDA Neo for work related purposes, too. I use Crystal V4 for about 3 or 4 days now and I have had no problems at all. And it is a very fast and responsive release, too. So this might be worth a try.
My take
I have tried several and found gullm's Touch VIII to be the best allround. It hasn't locked up and battery doesn't drain away. Everything I use seems to work fine.
Touch IX is absolutedly problem free here.
Some beauty-glitches, but works, and is pretty darn stable. Just avoid soft-resetting too much (bootscreenlockup, i believe every wm6 has that now and then). I have a full spritebackup on my SD, so when things do go wrong, hard reset, sprite, and in 5 minutes full running again. Now, I don't reset anymore. And, in 3 weeks, I did not HAVE to reset either ... It happens about 1 resets out of 10.

Install a safe boot mode and you'll be able to bypass bootscreenlockup and avoid hardreset
Personally, i prefer Mysterious, its been so nice on my o2 neo. no hangup, no freezing, moreover its fast and stable.
but its totaly depends on your way of using prophet.
WM 5 is the safest but I have WM6 touch VIII and its been a few months with very rare soft resets. I do notice that you may also think it has to do with the rom but it really is the radio rom that is causing the freezes. My main rare issue is I cannot hang up the phone when it is linked to my car's bluetooth. This happens once a month.
Mysterious on O2 Neo- GREAT!
I use Mysterious on an O2 Neo with only ONE annoying problem - battery drain! The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. Soon the Polaris (P3650) is coming to O2 Germany (called Orbit II) - and I will switch! Until then, my trusted Neo will bet there!
Cheers -
i was using touch 8 for a while then contemplated on whether to upgrade to touch 9, but after following the thread, opted for crystal v4.
v4 is running quite fast & stable at the moment. no hangups or anything.
haven;t tried mysterious or pdaviet at all, so can't really comment on them.
Most stable ROM
Personally i found that Prophet Touch IX is the most stable ROM i am using the same PDA as yours O2 XDA Neo German ROM downgraded to Aku2.2 and then flashed Prophet Touch IX and the device is working fine so far no bugs i have encountered (( i have been using the ROM for about 1 week now )) .
I've stuck with Touch VIII and had less problems with it than IX. Generally it's very, very good.
I prefer Crystal V4 with 4MB pagepool. Runnin SPB PocketPlus 4, HTC Cube, HTC Home, QuickMenu, S2U2, BatteryStatus, Lexisgoo/PocketMusic/SPB Insight/SPB Time/SPB Diary - all integrated into PocketPlus
And stil have 24.5MB of free RAM after loading them all up after a soft reset (and then closing all, ofcourse)
I haven't restarted my fon for 4 days now. And now hav 18.6MB after using IE, ActiveSync and many other pgms.
Its a solid ROM too... thanks to HMA for keeping it clean so that i could fill up wat ever I want

[ATOM LIFE]I would like the most stable rom with the most simple M2D

could anyone please introduce the most stable rom for Atom Life with M2D?
or I should install M2D seperately?
Mine is now having a big problem, once it suspended, it never wake. And I have no way to know that it is dead, coz the light is still flashing.
That's really bad, I missed a lot of calls.
I think Medkid has lot of stability to offer than the other ROM's but personally speaking I didn't find problem with PDAVIET Atom life ROM's either. Now they are with TF2D it makes things much more prettier.
Did you find any problem with TF2D? I guess they are less buggy now.
Let the developers know if you are facing any specific problem they will surely love to remover the hiccups.
Regards
Saksham Katyal
I am experiencing machine dead after suspend.
Random crash (screen freezing)
can't accept as a phone.
Oh thats unacceptable at any cost
Did you get your device checked from the vendor. I am afraid if everything is right with it. Try to change the ROM & I am sure you will see the difference[if its not about hardware]
Check my signature, this is one of the best ROM with stable TF2D. Just give it a try & let us know. Good luck.
@mcdull
try removing the sd card and then rebooting. It might work.
Also which ROM are you using?

Any Chance of a WM 6.1 21000 ROM ?

Is anyone actually working on a WM 6.1 ROM with a post-21000 Build Number for ATOM Life ?
I'd really like to be able to use the Rhodium Menu Enhancements (FingerMenu is just not the same) but I find myself unable to cook a ROM on my own.
I tried to register an account on PDAVIET where the ROM comes from i'm using right now, but to no avail as I can't read Vietnamese and Google Translator somehow can't translate it...
someone close this please, no one is interested in this Thread anyway... hope y'all are happy with your WM 6.5 Betas...

Yes of course almost all of us are now on 6.5 and really happy. Latest 6.5 roms 21728 Lite and 21812 Lite are running on our device better than 6.1. More stable and faster and errorfree. Why dont you try 21812 Lite just released and experience for yourself. I am sure you wont be coming back to 6.1. By the way my device is Atom Life. But there are variations of roms for other devices too...
Dont worry for word "BETA", currently all are tested ok and working well.... Beta in these forum, does not mean they are in developement. They are only ported from latest releases and customized with software bundle. Rest OS is basic and work well for Atom Life or comet you have. See my signature down there, all listed roms are stable and fast and tested ok. Rest I have not mentioned.
No need to reply.... bye
WM 6.5 is a Battery-drainer... also, I would need a ROM where Manila 2D runs, as I tried Titanium... and hated it.

wm6.5 WAS a battery drainer, but not now. i am using 21812 lite with longer battery time, say 3 days standby and 2 days with phone use. better than 6.0 or 6.1. seems you do not read the post carefully. LITE version does not have titanium and we are using M2D without any problem with moe memory free and longer battery time. Now dont comment without trying it. read my signature too..
Alright, I tried it, and went back to WM6.1 as WM6.5 was constantly taking up 80 Percent of the Phone's Resources (RAM) with Manila2D active.
It only takes around 56 Percent of it when using WM6.1.
I'm not going to make the switch to WM6.5 as it seems.
And my next Phone is going to be an Android Phone... i'm sick of resistive Touchscreens, i want capacitive ones.
jadephyre would you mind sharing what rom you are currently using. I am trying to find a rom that doesnt wolf down my battery.
indiacam: I really dont know how you are geting very good battery life.
Im using the same rom as you yet as jadephyre said ram usage is very hard.
Interface is very nice though

Specifically two reasons
1) My battery is XP-09 Lithium Polymer and not Li-ION and distributed with most PDAs. Its really a good battery O2 have distributed in India. Working like new since past 17 months.
2) And yes there are some additional memory setup required to be done in Registry Settings with the help of ACT. Click here for more information http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4081622#post4081622
@indiacam
I got the same powerpack, but what is of more interest for me is how to preserve RAM...
Thanks fellas,
I got the same battery pack also!
My battery performance is really horbile even with your settings Indiacam.
As for Ram, im using about 63% on 6.5 lite by uninstalling some things like the htc album. I shall try to flash again using both

It was very very diaspointing for me too when i first bought my Hd2. I had to reemove battery at least once a day. I had to restart all the time. Booting was taking a long time. Battery life was so poor. It was very laggy almost everytime.
All of this were until i started using minimalistic custom ROMs. Now everything is much more stable and reliable. So i dont complain anymore. Just do the HSPL and install a light weight ROM + latest radio. I also recommend MIUI Android builds.
When i tried to install a Custom Rom my HSPL version was 2.10 which wasnt support and it said "bad id model" . but if you could assist me in doing it correctly i would appreciate it
İf you have T-mobile US version with 1024mb memory go here:

If you have regular Hd2 with 512mb memory go here:

After this, i suggest you to install any Energy ROM you like... All good
Thanks for the help baybenbey i successfully flashed Energy Rom

dang.. too bad i didn't saw your message earlier
is the problem the same after flashing? If so... check out your sd card... HD2 likes to come up with "buggy" ones. and thats a pretty common thing. And it was same for me as well Yeah i know its a funny thing but IF your phone is SLOW... then just take off your SD... and i bet it will be ultra-fast once again. Anyways you can buy a new one right? like i did
