according this french website http://www.smartphonefrance.com/actu.asp?ID=4600 (after a call to the French HTC support) HTC will provide next week a rom upgrade with wifi and gps ....

It wont happen because why would HTC release the nike without having WiFi or GPS working? Its just another rumour. I remember hearing some guy rang up customer support and they said they could enable WiFi but i doubt that. Dont get your hopes up.

I doubt if GPS can be added if no-one here on xda can do it. Wifi being added is a possibility.
As for it going against "marketing rules"; I'm not so sure. With the announcement of the Diamond and Raphael the "Niki" line of devices has pretty much run its course.
Marketing is all about selling a product, if they add wifi (and GPS. *ahem*) to the Niki then HTC could in theory regain the interest of potential buyers. I.e. reduce the cost slightly and add a feature(or two) in order to move excess stock and maximise their profits. It's actually quite ingenius.
We'll just have to see how things play out.
WIFI would be enough if this news are true!

for me the same thing... yesterday i contacted the htc support... waiting for a reply from them....
I'll check with our inside guy if this is true. About releasing of a HTC rom that is. If true instead of us having to re-invent the wheel it would have been nice if he'd share this info earlier.

Hi ... I have a Wizard right now and I am thinking of geting a startrek.
Since there are not many review of it so far to those that do have it any major complaints so far ? and where is the cheapest place to buy it from ? what did yall pay ?

yes it does.
i don't think i can help with where to get it. but i can tell you that i replaced my wizard with it because it's so much easier to deal with as a phone.
Played with it this weekend. If you're happy with a smartphone, not a touchscreen, it's very very nice, elegant, thin, and useful.

I have both... a Universal and a StrTrk...
Well, it's a personal decision. It depends on what you need those devices for...
I've had a K-Jam as a primary phone, but then decided to switch back to a Motorola Mpx220 instead...
I'm actually using the Universal as a secondary phone and the StrTrk which substituted the Mpx220...
I know I need them both, but this is strictly personal.
There is now DEFINITIVE answer, otherwise there will only be ONE device... ;-)

I have just upgraded my Wizard and c500 to a TyTn and Strtrk. Both are great phones, but have different uses like Mix said. You can't beat the form factor of the Strtrk, or the functionality of the Tytn. Unfortunately no one device has both...... yet. :wink:

Now most of the cosmetic stuff has been fixed and I think it's ready but I said when crystal was released that I would release it in about a week
I never set the date to the 10. but it's on the step of release maybe tonight or maybe tomorrow.

okay maybe i went over the line.. iam just a little mad here today as i got called by my mobile service center.. I have had a HTC S710 to service, only 3 weeks old, and now finally after 2 months of waiting, they called me to tell me that it will cost 1200 danish kroner (around 250 US Dollars) to fix it..
I just think this kind of post is uneccesary.. We all have to wait and if we all made this kind a post these forums will be spammed to death.. Gullum will deffinantly make a thread as soon as the rom is completed so lets just wait for that..

its actually the thing i need, so i can use it to call... its like a mini phone which conencts to your phone through bluetooth, and works as a headset with callerdisplay and you can dial from it

Some work others don't they were only sold in the US. I got mine off eBay and it's one of the ones that keeps losing the BT connection which is why Pawel sugested it could be a fake.

I own 2 pet T-Rex, that I walk everyday while listening to MP3's on my Athena with AP4 beta ROM. When the T's mate I'll send both you guys one each. In other words if you guys have nothing really constructive to say just keep it hush hush. It's no myth because it's not released yet, and I'm sure you don't want the team to just putout anything crappy, especially after all you've anticipated.

@rory => AP4 is not what you suggest, but Thomas did not need to touch the nail prints or put his hand into the side where the spear had gone. He simply fell to his knees and believed.
What I can't beleive is that you (collectively) would even think to bring doubting Thomas into this arena. Perhaps you are sincere in your faith, but this is a cell phone and a new ROM were on about. It may seem like eternity waiting for the official release, but on the grand scheme of things, this is a vapour, which appears for a short time then is gone. (enough for this line of discussion for now, I hope)

I do not know what is happening :O Since 2 months I am looking for this AP 4 .
The worst thing with the AP 3 is that the alarm is ringing at the past time zones ...as I change them very often...and the problem is westbound as is not nice to wake up at 5 or 6 am cause the ap is nice, but without the basic things

Thanks for all the hard work oli on the Hard-SPL getting it right, does this mean ROM will be released today? If there are other problems please sort them, just curious about what is left to get sorted before release really!
Once again cheers for all the hard work the team has put in i'm sure it will be worth it, the urge to install pre release rom is getting less!!

der einzige Laden bei dem ich vorbestellen würde, ist Amazon. Wenn es um Reklamationen geht sind die einfach unschlagbar. Ich habe vor geraumer Zeit einen Archos Medienspieler eingeschickt und hatte nach einer Woche den kompletten Einkaufspreis von Amazon erstattet bekommen. Und das Gerät war zu diesem Zeitpunkt schon eineinhalb Jahre alt.

I'm considering ordering mine from Amazon.de - as we don't seem to get the 64GB version anywhere in Denmark.
But how is the localization for the previous Transformer? Was it german only, or could you change the language as you usually can in Android?
Android always had some languages pre installed.
Guess dansk is one if them.
The keyboard layout is qwertz though, even in Germany!
And Amazon still has the release date after 24.
So guess you are probably better with a us or UK one if you do not care about the charging cable.

In order to replace the keyboard.apk, to be QWERTY, you'll need to root the device, or else you'll be stuck with the Deutsches pop-up keyboard too.
Oh? Also if using one of the Market alternatives? Like Swiftkey, etc?
I pre ordered from computer universe.net and still have no delivery date. I hope we don't have to wait till January.

But they still expect an end December or early January release.

I'm from Switzerland and the store were i preordered (digitec.ch) sets mid January as release date. I'd say dont expect it any earlier in other european countries.
And chill out guys The thing will come when it comes. Pay some attention to your wife in the meantime she wont be getting much of you when the prime arrives
