My MSL code is not working. I both called sprint and used getspc.exe and they both gave me the MSL of 057191 and when I go to my phone dialpad and enter ##057191# nothing happens. I read on another forum that you can't do it from a skinned dialpad. I'm using Nexvision's Hybrid 3.35.04 and i think it has a touch skinned dialpad (dark gray/black, big buttons).
I've been using this ROM for months now and I love it. Everything is working great, no problems, just this.
Is there something else i could be doing wrong? I need this ASAP so i can "reset" my phone on the network to allow me to use the *611 dropped call thing some more.
I have honestly tried searching the archives and didn't find this.

Probably a dialer problem. I'd try installing various other dialers to remedy your problem.
I don't understand are you already in PST? Or are you trying to get there? If your trying to get there it is ##778# or ##778 send. You may need to erase your calls, you then enter in your MSL(just the six digits and no # symbol). You should not be using a dial pad to enter in your MSL while in PST it should be they keyboard.

This is true.
The MSL is your unlock code to EDIT values inside EPST. To enter EPST on Sprint, dial ##778# and send. When EPST opens, if you choose Edit, THEN you enter your MSL. MSL is not required to simply View EPST.
Thanks, but none of the methods are working
Thanks for the quick replies. I was just following the instructions of the Tier 1 tech guy on with me didn't seem to know what he was talking about, and apparently didn't. He was trying to get me to enter ##[MSL]# without hitting send, from the dialpad. He got all bent and had no clue what to do when it wasn't working.
I tried ##778 > send and also ##778# then send and neither one gets me into EPST. It just places a call and the female recording says "the number or code you dialed is incorrect...message 637." I also tried it without hitting send, nothing happens.
Another poster suggested i install nother dialer. How do i get back to the original dialer? Also, will i have problems getting my touch dialer back with smartdial working? I've always been hesitant to go changing dialers since I've heard about and had problems with getting smartdial to work once the switching shenanigans begin. TIA
##778# is the ## code for Sprint.
If it's not working for you, one of the following must be the cause:
1. You have installed a dialer not meant for CDMA phones and it has broken your functions.
2. You have not installed the Sprint carrier cab.
I'm also assuming you're using the latest 3.1.2 rom. If not, please post what rom you are using and also what dialer you are using.
Have you tried to directly run ..\Windows\EPST.exe ??
In the Windows directly try executing that or its shortcut. If it quickly loads and exits, then try a few more times before resetting your phone and trying again.
Solved! but still trying to "reset phone on network"
well, don't i feel like an "azclown." I was searching for the OEM dialer and came across this thread, in which i found the same issue being discussed and azclown had uploaded a touch dialer that fixes the problem! i love it when people not only answer a question, but also put the file right there in your face.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2255605&highlight=oem+dialer#post2255605
that dialer is basically the same as the one Nexvision had in the ROM i am using, but it has a blue accent (and ## codes work!).
However, now on to what my real problem was that i was trying to, as the Tier 1 rep put it "Reset my phone on the network" by either retyping my existing MSID or entering all zeros and then rebooting. He said that would allow me to get more dropped call credits. i'm referring to the *611, then just saying "dropped call" to get 2 minutes of credit, which i need to repeat a bunch of times, since with so many dropped calls where i used to live, i ended up going over my minutes.
I tried doing what the guy said, using all zeros for the MSID made it so that *611 didn't work and it tried to get me to activate my phone from square one. So i put the original MSID back and it still says I've gotten the limit for the dropped call credits. Anyone know what the guy means by "reset my phone on the network" and how i can do that? (sorry for the long posts) TIA
That ROM comes with a crappy dialer which has memory leaks on CDMA phones and does not support the codes or 911. Re-cook it with the stock dialer and install dcd's touch dialer CAB. Or you can cook it with the dialer's OEM folder from the latest dcd ROM.
So wait you were able to get in to your PST? As I said before you may need to erase your call history then dial ##778 then hit send.
yes, I got into the PST just fine after putting the other dialer on (i had also deleted my call history). i used the ##778# method. However, I wasn't able to "reset my phone on the network" (per sprint tech rep's instructions) so that I could get more dropped call credits. That was the real reason I was trying to do all of this. My minutes restarted today, so I'm just going to have to pay for an overage. Oh well.

My phone has been great since updating to DCD's latest cocktail but today I started having a really weird problem.
I would manually dial a number in the dialer screen (# was not in my contacts) and it would instead dial a similar number of one of my contacts. Tried it 5 times and even tried soft-resetting and it kept doing it.
After the soft Re-set and clearing my call memory it started choosing a different number to call but still the same issue. The numbers is chose were very similar, all had the same area code and the 1st 2 numbers were the same but after that completely different.
Is there a way to go to the stock dialer? I'm on a Verizon 6800.
Thanks.

Are you talking about smartdialing? If so this is normal
What it is doing is that when you dial a number whether it is in your contacts or not, it is trying to recognize numbers that you have dialed. If it matches it will display the name of the contact and options to give information.
But if you keep dialing and the numbers don't match with any contact then nothing will appear. It will just let you dial the number that you are trying to dial with out having to look through a familiar contact.
it was doing the smart thing narrowing it down as I entered more numbers but after the 6th number nothing matched so it showed just the number in the dialing section of the screen. Hit the send button and it would then choose a contact to dial instead.

Hmm that is odd... If you dont really use Smart dial, try disabling it in the options menu of the dial screen. This might help. Are you running a custom ROM or Stock?
DCD's newest custom ROM with the custom dial. I was hoping there was a way to load the stock dialer instead to see if that helped.
Wow... funny, I had the same thing happen a few times exactly as described. I dialed the complete 10 digit number and instead it dialed one of my contacts with the same area code and partial prefix. I figured it was just me.
I'll try disabling Smart Dialing and see if that fixes it.
Also I looked at the numbers I called and I was trying to dial XXX-761-2056 but it dialed XXX-709-8039 so not even close. The other time it tried dialing XXX-701-5325.

So you guys cooked your own ROMS and when you cooked it you put the Vogue Dialer , Vouge Skin, and Smartdial?
Or the Stock Titan Dialer ?
Because I installed the Vouge options with smartdial and mine works perfectly.
I will provide you with the Mogul / 6800 Big Button CAB which will replace your dialer and the Touch Skin CAB to skin the dialer.... This might work "you can always uninstall it"
I didn't do any cooking, I just took DCD's basic ROM and loaded that but it came with a different dialer than stock for the XV6800.
I'll give those dialers a shot, that a lot.
Turns out that this is the same dialer as the one built into DCD's ROM but what is interesting is no numbers showed on the keypad. It also showed up as HTC HTC Home for the install in remove programs
Well crap. Turns out the HTC HTC Home listing in remove did remove the HTC home plug in but not the dialer and now I've got not #'s on the keys. I can't find the uninstall line for this dialer, any ideas? Oh wait think I found it. The Bullfrog Big Button Dialer right?
I installed the Wizard reTouched dialer (installing it will fix your no number issue). I haven't tried just dialing a random number though... lemme give it a shot.
Ok, I just tested it and it worked fine, let me find the dialer. It looks EXACTLY the same as the "stock" one in DCD's rom, but I found it's a little different.
Ok, here it is, it's attached in the first post of this thread. There are some skins for it too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315685
I noticed that when I tried to skin the stock dialer it didn't skin right. I'd have no numbers, or some of the buttons wouldn't map right. I installed the dialer in the thread above and I was able to skin it fine, and it makes calls without issue.
P.S. The test number I dialed has the same area code and exchange as a few contacts.
Oh, and the Wizard dialer will show up in your remove programs list.
You guys need to install the Big Button dialer along with the Touch CAB
The Big Button Dialer just installs the Dialer and the Touch CAB skins the Dialer with the key pad.
I have tried the Wizard Retouched one, but I removed it because it looks wack to me because you can't modify it like the big button can.
So for those with not having a dial pad
Install the Mogul Big Button Dialer
Then
The Touch CAB
Or they can pick whichever one they prefer.
You know, choices and all...

True, but after all it was an opinion not a fact.
Fact is that with the big button dialer and the Touch skin cab it is easy to make your own skins by replacing the ones that the Touch skin cab created.
This is meant for true modifiers. Because you wont have to be installing cab after cab after cab or even worrying about getting a gsm dialer that removes certain features on your phone.
Since I really don't care for the custom dialers I deselected the dialer skin and the smartdailing in DCD's kitchen. Now I have an original WM6 Dialer with WM6 smartdialing and I really like it.

UPDATE
I am assuming you guys use CDMA since it is a TITAN Forum. Be advised that using the Wizard Touch Dialer will not only give you memory leaks, BUT
also disable the ability to use 911 and other features such as the advanced configuration mode on your phone.
Check out post 170 on the same link that redirects you to the Wizard dialer

Workaround
I have found that when you are dialing a number that is similar, or if it happens more than once, push up on the directional pad after dialing the number which deselects the smart dialing number in the window. then press the green button as usual. This seemed to help and hasn't done it for me in several days.
Serf, Since I'm a newb at custom ROMS I didn't do the kitchen thing. Maybe I need to give that a shot so I can get the stock dialer back.
Quite a while ago, I flashed to DCD 3.2.6. After that, I noticed that I couldn't dial phone numbers from my contacts, but I could dial them directly. When I would dial using the contact, it would look like the call was going through, then I would get three error chimes and a message saying the call was disconnected.
Finally, I figured out that the difference is that in my contacts, the phone numbers all have "+1" before the number, i.e. "+1(206) 555-1212". This is the international prefix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_call_prefixes#Syntax).
I assumed that this was a problem with DCD 3.2.6. However, I just flashed DCD 4.1.2, and the same issue is there. I suppose I could go through all 223 of my contacts and edit the phone numbers to get rid of the plus sign. However, this is the correct format for a number, and non-custom ROMs have worked fine with it.
Anyone got an idea of how to get the dialer with DCD 4.1.2 to work with these phone numbers? I'm guessing I just need to change some configuration relating to my International Prefix (U.S.) Alternatively, does anyone know of a ROM that does work with these phone numbers and also keeps the GPS and tethering (via Internet Sharing) working on my Verizon XV6800?
Thanks,
Jamie
Got it
Okay, I found it.
In the dialer application, go to "Menu", "Options...", "Services" tab, scroll down to "Plus Code Dialing". The rest is self-explanatory.
Hopefully, this will save someone else some time.

Hi. I sent my rooted custom aospCMod Optimus V to my cousin as he wanted to take over my account. He says he's having problems changing the phone number to his area code. Will the phone have to be put back to stock just to change the number? Cheers. Ed
stock, or stock-based, like harmonia.
have him make a nandroid backup before flashing the froyo-based rom.
after froyo is installed, the ## menus in the dialer will work to activate, and so will the activate.apk
once the phone is activated and working with the new number, restore the nandroid if he wants to keep using aospCmod.
that rom is a little old... but it did work pretty well for me back before blarf came up with the IHO cm7 variant.
Thanks. Will have him do that and post how it goes. I also forgot to mention I changed the PRL. Will that be a problem too.? Thanks. Ed
the prl should be fine. good luck, should be relatively painless.
Got everything back to stock and now says "service is not available". Any suggestions? Thanks.
Still working on this. I am trying to make sure he doesn't have to mail this back to me. Tried reflashing stock ROM but the same "service not available". Shouldn't it launch a menu? The phone was working fine when he got it. This just started when he tried to change the number.
Should he unroot it?
Should he try Harmonia? Thanks.
Did he change the number before going back to stock? If he did they may have cancelled the service. That's the only way to get a new number as far as I know.
Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk
unrooting or Harmonia won't help.
it's possible data service is down in his area, it won't provision without a data connection. wifi probably won't work for that. vm is well known for data problems.
if his phone is programmed right with the new number, and vm set up his account on the phone, then his voice and sms service should work regardless of the data being available.
making a call to someone is a good test. *vm isn't, that works whether activated or not.
if voice is working, the phone is programmed, but it'll have to stay on stock ROM until it gets a data connection to provision 3g (it'll only show 1x at best until activate is run successfully.)
It is fixed.
He had it all back to stock and still nothing. Get getting "service unavailable" when trying to activate. Virgin actually helped him out. Here is what they sent and it got him up and running,,,,
Thanks for contacting Virgin Mobile Customer Care.
First of all, we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Your phone might be needing to be reset and reprogrammed with your MDN and MSID manually as follows:
First Step: Manual Reset
1) Turn on your phone.
2) Press the Phone icon on the Home screen
3) Dial #-#-8-4-7-4-4-6-#
4) You are now in the Service Program menu. Tap Edit.
5) The MDN field will appear
6) Enter 10 "1" (1111111111). Tap OK
7) The MSID field will appear
8) Tap the field next to "Enter MSID"
9) Enter 10 "1" (1111111111). Tap OK.
10) Tap Done. The phone will turn off and turn back on by itself.
Second Step: Manual Programming
1) Turn on your phone.
2) Press the Phone icon on the Home screen
3) Dial #-#-8-4-7-4-4-6-#
4) You are now in the Service Program menu. Tap Edit.
5) The MDN field will appear
6) Enter your 10-digit phone number 6xxxxxxxxx. Tap OK
7) The MSID field will appear
8) Tap the field next to "Enter MSID"
9) Enter your 10-digit MSID 7xxxxxxxxx. Tap OK.
10) Tap Done. The phone will turn off and turn back on by itself.
Thanks for your help.

excellent.
that's why it had to be on a stock or stock-based froyo rom like harmonia.
the gingerbread roms don't have the ## menus in the dialer, so no way to manually change the numbers. when you call vm to activate, they always have you enter the ##virgin# in the dialer and change those two settings and reboot.
glad it worked out!
I've been working at getting the voicemail for my first Android device, the SGH-i777, switched to GVoice for a bit now and I can't seem to get it working.
During the setup process [account selection, etc.] it goes to setup the voicemail and I get this error that reads:
"Error
Forwarding number changed failed"
So I found another route via the web interface with the string of numbers that reads: *004*googlenumber#.
Upon entering that in the dialer, I get:
"Call forwarding
Connection problem or invalid
MMI code
conditionally for All Basic Services"
Then I found a lead, on disabling all the settings under "Settings -> Call -> Call forwarding -> Voice Call". That gives me two errors:
"Unable to deactivate call diverting for unanswered calls. Unsupported by operator"
&
"Unexpected response from network."
Online, the web interface does show:
"Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone"
This is occurs when the device is stock and rooted, and running a new ROM. I've also tried deleting and re-adding my phone's number to my list of phones and reinstalling the GVoice app. [NOTE: It's stock and rooted right now though]
Ideas?
Check if the call can go into the voicemail message system first. If not, I will call ATT to reset the condition forwarding.
I do have a real AT&T voicemail setup and I can call it and leave a message [from another phone of course].
As for the condition forwarding, where should I take that? Tech Support via customer care? I did have to get on with tech support after they didn't switch my voicemail over from the iPhone's to a "standard" voicemail service.

Squid,
I am trying to help you here but I may have misunderstood some things that you said. Anyways, I had gVoice forwarding my voice mail just fine - actually, against my will because I wanted to stay with ATT voice and only use gVoice for text messages. Thus, if you go into settings>call>call forwarding - what does it say there? List your google number or does it list your ATT voice number? In my case it listed my google voice phone number and not my carrier number. I changed that back to my carrier, but maybe you go the opposite route. Sorry if I missed your point.

When I go "Settings -> Call -> Call Forwarding" there's another option in there with "Voice Call". There's then 4 lines, "Always Forward", "Forward When Busy", "Forward When Unanswered", "Forward When Unreachable". All of those [EXCEPT "Always Forward"] have text that reads "Forwarding to [presumably the AT&T voicemail number]".
I couldn't disable it manually, but I see where your going with it. Sadly, I cannot change any of the settings in there. Refer to the OP when I mention the lead on "disabling" the settings.

Yes I have. I've tried a bunch of things.
But amazingly, I get to close this thread now! I called up AT&T and asked about conditional call forwarding and the guy walked me through a bunch of stuff. What ended up being the issue was the number set for the 'conditionals' in call forwarding and the "carrier number" for the voicemail [just below the radio button to select Google Voice] were different by one digit. Changing the carrier number to match the conditionals let the whole operation happen smoothly.
So, thanks to the two of you who responded!

Glad it works for you! Just for my information, the "conditional" is in which menu - call forwarding? I can't find a "conditional" option. I am sure this will come up again sometimes, so I try to fully grasp it. Thanks man!
I don't understand. I've had this same problem since I got my new phone, the SGH-i727 Skyrocket. My number in the carrier setting exactly matches the number for the "conditionals"... So what gives? I'm rooted and running a custom ROM, but the issue was present before I ever rooted, when I was stock.
I had some issues setting mine up, I am also rooted. Have you tried looking at voice.google.com -> Settings -> Phones -> Mobile and seeing if its checked or even there?
Also I reinstalled all the google apps so that might have also helped.
I had a similar problem. I'm guessing you have the Google voice app installed? I would try to reset to defaults the dialer info.
Try this
1. Remove Google app.
2. Clear dialer and dialer storage cache
3. When you go to dialer, the settings should be reset. Configure it as if you have no Google voice.
4. Install Google voice, but make sure you have both WiFi internet and cell phone reception.
5. Hopefully it succeeded, regardless go to the dialer --> Preference --> voice-mail handler for me its either Google voice, or voice mail, or none(dial voice number)
Like wise if you have the number is correct on the Google voice website and you have configured the phone with the app try entering this code. Remember the number is your Google voice mail.
Remove the dashes, and the X's correspond to the Google number, these are to be entered on the standard dialer. I do recommend this be your last step

not trying to revive a dead thread, but I was going at this all night and nothing worked, (new gs3 ATT)
have used gv for everything for a long time now and nothing has worked with this phone.
Went through and tried all the stuff above, and finally I tried putting in the mmi code in the dialer as *004*(area code and number)# and it went like normal, like a regular nexus phone.
This is without the "1" before the are code.
It went through fine and changed all the forwarding numbers in the forwarding menu, and set GV as voicemail.
The reason is that inside the phone- settings- voicemail-setup, you get what looks like a GB screen with your google voice number without the +1 infront of it, and no way to change it I don't think.
this is what the guy above was taking about I think with the att person on the phone. I hope this helps someone, I could have used it yesterday

Not sure if you're trying to be a smartass or not, but....either way this is the i777 forum. Post in the forum relative to your device.
why are you guys so touchy about specific forums? Looking for help from wherever it comes from is a good thing.
That little clue about numbers matching would have helped me yesterday, regardless of what phone I was using. ANd it will help someone in the future.
If it was an htc forum I might have said something different, but I still would have said something.
Telling someone to gtf out of your forum for no good reason is just silly.
Everyone is here to help. That's all there is. If no one needed help, there wouldn't be an XDA.
but ya, I'll stay out of your guy's forum. not that I post alot or anything.

All I said was that this isn't the S3 section. Was that so wrong? Many things are device dependent. So many things can't be given support for unless you have our device.

My phone doesn't receive calls when I've used data on my phone, like launching gmail. I have to make an outgoing call or reboot to get calls to come thu. Once I use data again, calls won't come thru. Even a factory reset hasn't resolved the issue. Any idea?
It seems my phone doesn't switch back to voice once I've used data unless I make an outgoing call or reboot.

is there an easy way to get the msl code?
"The steps are as follows: using your phone dial pad dial ##3282#
Select edit mode and enter you device's msl code. Go to Data Profile then press menu and choose 'restore". Your phone will reboot and reprovision upon reboot."
sorry sorry it slipped my mind to list the steps, the neighbors do this rodeo crap on the weekends but once a month they do one whole week and I get no sleep. its really been screwing with me
if you call sprint and ask for it they technically have to give it to you. or you can use cdma workshop

did the reprovision now I have no data connection. Tried a factory reset and still no connection. Under settings it says "mobile network - disconnected" although I have it on. confused:

Sprint was able to get me back online. Hopefully the reprovision solved my issue. THanks
Sometimes updating your profile can leave things screwed up, did you update your profile before the issues started? I had a similar problem once after updating my profile, called cs and immediately asked them to escalate the issue but the lady on the other end would not, she pushed 4 profiles before giving up and escalating my call. If you can always escalate the call, 1st tier reps are peons
