Hello,
I followed the newbie tutorial on flashing WM6 ROM to my G4 Wizard. After a few tries, it seems everything went well. But now the phone seems to be bugging out. I upgraded to NBD 9.2 from the OEM WM5 ROM.
First off, I lost all my information/history such as contacts, texts, calls, etc. How do I restore these?
Alternatively, is there a way to go back to the original WM5? Do I need to remove HardSPL? I thought that was only when you were sending it back for service so they can't detect you did anything to your phone.
I am not getting any phone service at all. It won't bring up the keypad to dial either. The internet seems fine however.
Right after flashing, I think there was a program called PIM Restore, but now it seems to be missing.
I have soft reset it since the flash, but nothing. I don't want to hard reset for fear of losing all my data, even though it appears none of it is there since the flash.

First, flashing a new rom will remove all the files on the phone including your personal data/contacts/mssgs etc etc, they all are lost, you shud have first backed them up,now there's no way to restore them back, yes ! PIMbackup is the application with which you shud have backed up all your data to your pc.
Perhaps, its a bad flash thats why its bugging out, either reflash or try any other latest custom build wm6 or wm6.1,hope you'll get a much faster response and wonderful experience.
Well,as you say,all the data is already lost, there's no harm in doing Hard Reset,it might get it working correctly.Hard Reset is what I recommend otherwise, reflash.
You can download the PIMbackup software from the forum and install it anytime and backup your data.
Well,if you want to revert back to original wm5,you'll have to first remove HardSPL,only than you can revert back, otherwise you'll Brick the phone.

OK, UPDATE:
So last night I turned the phone off and turned it back on and now the phone works (as in makes & receives calls). It's still twitchy, but everything seems to work except the Contacts & PocketCM. When you try to use them, it looks like it's trying to open, but then closes.
As far as the backup, I had a feeling I was in for that but wasn't sure. Maybe we should have a warning in the newbie tutorial that tells everyone: ALL DATA WILL BE LOST! BACK UP ALL THINGS PRECIOUS TO YOU! I read somewhere that to save your contacts, you just copy your PIM file to storage and paste it back after flashing. I did do that, however it doesn't seem to work. It didn't cross my mind to copy the contacts through Outlook. I didn't have PIMbackup before flashing, but the ROM included it, but now it seems to be missing altogether.
Here's the weird thing though. So all data is supposed to be lost after flashing right? Well after my phone decided to start working again, I checked call history & all my old calls are still there, with names & everything. Is this supposed to be right? All the new calls however don't have names & I can't add them because I can't access Contacts. If all data is to be lost, shouldn't the call history be gone, too? This makes me wonder if all my data is really lost or if it is somehow recoverable on the phone.
How do I reflash? Just do the entire process over again? Do I just reflash over, or should I remove something first (sorry newbie question)? Is there a way to revert to WM5 without removing HardSPL?
Thanks.

Hello Guys.
After crashing my last XDA the "new" one arrived on Friday.
Used the home cooked 3.17. ROM VErsion and all looks fine.
After the restore from SD-Card all Application are their, just have to register new Tomtom.
But today I´ve done a soft reset to enter the bootloader. Works fine. Nothing done in the bootloader and started the device new.
All data are missing. PocketPC Theme is far far away, no Owner Information, activesync needs to be configured new, have to install all software new or restore the backup.....
Just liike after a hard reset.
What is wrong ?
Cheers
Stefan
it is not bug, it is a feature I do the same thing last monday
If you enter the bootloader on 4.x, this always happens (at least to me...)

You say restore from SD card backup, was that backup from ROM older than 3.17? If so thats what caused your problem. You can't restore from a backup of a different ROM you have to re-install all of your software.

Ok, for some reason my G-Sensor is not working. I tried to calibrate it, and still no luck. Anyway, I don't want to hard-splash it yet. So, if anyone know how to fix this, please let me know. I really really don't want to hard-splash my Fuze, but I might have to.
you mean hard reset ?
ok then, download SPB Backup and backup everything including SYSTEM
then, HARD RESET to make sure that your G-Sensor is ok.
When everything is fine, flash with Shipping ROM, than RESTORE your SPB Backup (indluding the SYSTEM) you lost nothing !.
hope this help you.
cheers,
ermen
Don't want to scare you but I had the same.
Tried a lot of things (hard reset, G-sensor fix etc. etc. etc.)
Finally I restored to the original ROM and returned the TouchPro to HTC service.
In one week (pick up service) I had the phone back with working G-sensor.
G-sensor was not functioning, hardware failure.
Good luck!
Good Evening
Excusme everyone, I own a Sony Xperia ZL and running firmware C6503_10.4.1.B.0.101 (I hope this is the right one, I'am still a newbie about this), unrooted and bootloader locked. A few days ago, I got a bootloop on my device, and after searching the solutions they told me to flashing it. Then I just flashing it, and to be honest this is my first time flashing and I don't know any effect of this.
After successfully flashing, I lost all my internal data :crying:
But luckily , I don't know why but my device auto download all of my apps and also recover my contact automatically. I also got my WA messages because still have my back up on micro SD.
But not about the SMS, not even a single SMS appear.
I already try Dr.Fone for Android software and use deep scan, but the software found nothing.
Hope you will help me recover my SMS.
Thank you

Still, is there any way to recover my messages?
No backup no recovery. Look for cwm recovery for lb bootloader for ur phone. By the next bootloop make a nandroid backup from ur damage system, flash the new rom and make a custom restore of the data only.

I believe I turn on that Sync a few weeks ago but then I turn it off because of the battery consumption.
Does the message that appear at time before I turn off the sync can be restored ?

there is also automatic restore option in backup and restore option
Google doesn't back up text messages automatically. There are apps that can back them up on a schedule to a cloud backup or on your storage of the phone. Might be something to look into. But yea, the other text messages are gone, sorry. The other stuff came back like your contacts and apps because that kind of stuff is backed up through Google's servers.
but it take backup automatically when connect to the internet if sync is on
there is option available in backup and reset

I'm unsure when I say this, but I'm pretty sure that SMS data is wiped when you clear the cache before flashing a new ROM.
I don't really understand why it would matter so much as long as you have everything else. Are they personal messages?
I got my hands on a Galaxy Grand 2 sm-g7105. Performed a factory reset from device and the system worked nicely enough. A particular third party app I wanted to use wouldn't load so I kept tweaking.
I rooted and set up a CWM recovery with Odin, then considered going with Resurrection Remix. I made a backup with CWM, wiped the device and set it up. It looked great but 'audioFX.apk' or something along those lines kept crashing every 30 seconds or so. It didn't cause me any problem besides the annoying crash notification, so i figured I could just remove the apk and be done with it. To my dismay, then the notification then piled up non-stop and the system become unusable.
I went and restored the backup on CWM. Then I'd get error notifications for this and that stopping working (basically the apps present on the backup that weren't on the stock rom), so I figured the backup was useless. Another mistake, I guess.
Performed another wipe, deleted the backup for space. Tried removing every piece of bloatware I could find before unrooting (I wanted to do that). Finally everything seemed to roll... except I deleted some important apk, SecDownloadManager I've come to believe, and at that point the Play Store couldn't update a thing, it got stuck on 'Downloading'.
So I did another wipe, just to find out that didn't restore the missing apks. Got my hands on a stock rom for my model (a different build than my origibal one, but to hell with it... right?). I got that working work Odin, but to my surprise that didn't seem to completely restore the apk mess, and I got a ton of crash apl notifications and even after logging on Google the play store didn't let me in to try and see if apps could update.
Finally, I found what is supposed to be the device's original rom. Odin'd it all the way. Everything seems to be where it belongs, but I cannot really check 'cause... NOW THE ****ING WI-FI WON'T TURN ON. It's not like it doesn't connect to my network, it just won't activate. I press the switch, or goes back off.
I tried rebooting, taking out the battery for some seconds, performing a factory reset from within the system, wiping from CWM, dialing *#0011# to access service mode and deactivating power-saving mode. Nothing works.
HELP, please.
I'd be happy if the WiFi just worked, but knowing why the hell a stock rom should give any headache or what I'm doing wrong for it to go so wrong might be a step towards the solution.
PS: I'm writing this as I recall, so the details might not be completely spot-on, but the broader problems were those.
Hi guys, this morning my father's Le Max 2 (snap820, 4/64) stopped receiving calls, and both the home and recent apps virtual buttons decided not to function, too. Strange enough, I'm able to long press them and get the action I'm supposed. Any ideas/fix? I've already checked the phone for malicious apps and misconfigurations
Hi, I have exactly the same issue, plus I cant download any more applications from play store. Can anyone help?
If you have a backup taken when the phone was working well, I'd suggest you to restore it. If not, try another ROM, or at least a different ROM flavor (if it had an EUI based ROM, use LineageOS and viceversa). If that doesn't work, you may need to get into Qualcomm recovery mode and flash the developers ROM to get the phone to a real factory state.
But first, try to revert to factory settings from the current ROM, and see if that solves the issue.
There are several threads here with info on how to apply the above solutions.
If none of these solutions works, and you still have warranty time left, you may want to contact the seller for a repair or replacement.
Good luck.
Do the notifications work?
I was on holiday, so no PC I could use for flashing or else. A reset from the settings worked, still don't know what caused the issue sadly
I couldn't find the fix for this in any other threads, can someone help a not-terribly-tech-savvy person with a fix for this
Today I also had a same problem. So just I backed up all important data's and done factory reset. Now everything works fine.
Everyone have same problem at the same time means the ROM has virus or Trojan.
What is the ROM everyone is using?
