I have done some research on this on the board but cannot find it...
Where is the reg location to remove the CommManager.exe from the startup? When I open MemMaid I see it but I do not know where to look in the reg to keep it from starting up.
I still want to use it. I can kill the task using MemMaid. However whenever I need it I just press the button and it loads back into memory which is OK with me. So if I can load it on demand, I do not need it to launch at startup. So how can I remove CommManager.exe so it does not start when the device starts?
this type of post should be in the titan forum, please.. not titan upgrading.

Hi all,
Normally when you are wokring in a program (say messaging) and press thbe red end button you are taken back to the today screen but the program continues to remain open in the background.
Just wondering if any one knew of a software so that I can use the red end key to kill the running program and take me back to the today screen.
Will appreciate your comments and suggestions
Regards
This is intentional (as with all WM devices). Keeping the most often used programs running in memory allows you to switch to messaging / calendar / contacts etc. near instantly. If you had to load them from ROM every time you would soon find the delays very frustrating. Try killing the running programs manually with the Task Manager to see what I mean.
I've never suffered a slow-down from working this way, unless a program goes awry (which I then just kill with Task manager). So I just let WM work the way it was intended. But if you need a more convenient way of managing tasks, have a look at xBar.
Here's a neat trick that completely hoses your memory management. Hopefully somebody can tell me why. If you have other directories in Start Menu, you can only run one program at a time.....??????!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use Quickmenu, and like to set up my windows startup folders like so:
Programs
Media
Utilities
Office Apps
Settings
This allows me to be just a couple clicks from everything.
I recently flashed DCD's latest and LOVED all the extra memory to play with. I could just see myself driving down the road, listening to S2P, following my progress in Google Maps, switching over to check scores on the browser then answer a text....
AND I COULD! when I first loaded the ROM, I didn't have time to make my normal changes to the windows startup and went to work doing just what I illustrated.
Then when I got home, I sat down to set the folders up.
next day on the way to work...I had my music pumpin and opened up Google to check traffic....the music stopped....I lost S2P.
in fact...I could only run one app at once....seriously...if I was browsing this forum and tried to answer a text message, the browser would get dumped....
I couldn't figure it out....I started uninstalling, stuff left and right...but nothing helped. Then I moved my folders out of Start Menu and dropped them under Program Files
Program Files
-----Media
-----Office Apps
-----Utilites
Settings
Low and behold...I could run more than one program again...
SOMEBODY TELL WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! ;-P
I haven't set up subfolders in Quickmenu for several ROMS now, but...
just guessing, what do you have your "ok" button set for in the Quickmenu options, or for that matter the "x-button" setting? I would play around with those settings. Maybe if the setting is a certain way, scolling and selecting an additional app through the menu structure also simultaneously closes the one thats active?

Thank you for the reply....If what you are suggesting is true, then I wouldn't matter how my folders were set up....the mere fact that I'm using QuickMenu is somehow closing the current app because of settings.
1. My settings do not change based on folder setup
2. Only when I have more than Programs and Settings in Start Menu do I have the problem.
I'm tellin' ya...there's something funky going on.
I find that even using task killer my phone slows down, if i reboot the phone, its super quick again, any ideas?
I would also like to know why. Over the period of a day the phone slowing loses memory and slows down, and each time I use task killer I end up with less memory than the last time I used it, this continues until I reboot the phone and it's super quick until then the whole cycle starts again which is very annoying. I'm using MoDaCo 3.1 on GSM Hero.
Try to search in the forum!

Hello u there!
First, try to use the search button and u will find out, that the others are annoyed about the same thing.Inclouding my self. What i read on the forum, there are a few things to speed up your phone: uninstal the application what u don't need, clear the cache, and history and data from your browser, check if one of your aplication is making data folder (there are a few on the market, but i don't remember which one), or root your phone .Beside of that if you search and read in the forum u will see that the OS is using a lot of memory to run, so it is someting left for aplications like 150MB, or something like 30 pcs of aplication from market. P.S.In the task killer there is a optinon on the menu, sayng "kill all app when the screen goes off". Hoppe this is help u some how
Sorry, I couldnt come up with a good topic subject. What Im hoping to find is a program like backgrounder for the iPhone. I didnt care about the the backgrounding function of the program, I used it to disable backgrounding on apps that I didnt want to stay in the background.
So, is there a program that, for example, pressing the home button for a few seconds will close the app, instead of backgrounding it?
Thanks!
Try autokiller memory optimizer. I've always ran it on my EvO. Instead of it hindering AOS, it helps it along, unlike ATK. Unfortunately we need root to run presets but you can go in and one-click the apps you don't want. I'm using it now just for that, but not @ it's fully potential @ the moment
Thanks - Yeah, I downloaded that early and notices without root that its "crippled" but its a start....
Hi, I like android for the multitasking but i think it is done in a bad way. I wish the 'task management' would behave more like for example a windows taskbar.
I have open apps. I can switch between them. I can close those apps (ok i dont care if they stay in memory, i just dont want them cluttering my 'app switcher').
Also when I re-open a 'closed' app, i want it to start from the beginning, not where I left it. Only the apps that i keep in the 'taskbar' should stay where i left them.
Basicaly, simply the way a windows taskbar works. Even if you close interner explorer, it does stay in memory, but it appears closed. It starts up very fast coz its in memory, but because you closed it, it starts from the 'begining' (unless otherwise specified).
I hate to have 2 different 'settings' apps open both pointing to some 2ndary settings app and they open somewhere i left them, but maybe I want to do a whole new thing? I then have to press back multiple times to get where i want. Or Opera staying open all the time, and when i'm done browsing i want to quit it. I don't care if it stays in memory, i just want it to get out of the task switcher and start from the 'beginning' when i re-open it. I hate opening opera and it has 3 taps open from something i was looking for earlyer but i don't care anymore. I then have to close those 3 tabs to get a new clean browsing experience.
Understand? I wish someting like this would exist, but they all want to 'kill' tasks. I don't want that. I just want them to APPEAR they are closed. Also i only want to do that with APPS. Not processes or even services.
I hope the task switcher in icecream cookie will be like this!
