No Radio - No GSM. Any ideas? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

A friend of mine complained to me he could't phone with his hermes, which he had gotten from someone he knew..
It didn't take me long to find out that Hard SPL was installed and the radio was damaged - no GSM.
Eventually I managed to update to HSPL v7, but I still can't flash a radio.
I tried downgrading to MFG, flashing an original ROM (WM5 & 6), using the SD-card, using the pc (with a Windows Server 03 OS), tried 5 different Radio ROMS, and so on. The only thing I haven't tried yet was the Hermesloader for Linux - mainly because I don't use linux and wouldn't know what to do (although I might have a Suse live cd somewhere).
Anyways, point is, when I update from PC it loses the connection before it starts updating and when I use the SD card it stops at 11%
Any ideas? Please don't tell me to read the forum or the wikis, because I've read anything I could find and I know a fair amount of what I'm doing, after having owned 4 HTC phones. Unless I've missed something (which is what this post is for) I've tried just about everything, but I don't want to give up on it unless I know I've tried everything I can.
Oh and I can boot into the OS btw, so it's just the radio. Bad blocks maybe? Anyway I can defragment or format them or so??
All help greatly appreciated. thx

i have posted many posts on the forums and have emailed you for help but you never seem to reply sir ,and you seem to be the only person who can actually help me if you can pls sir as i cannot get my wallaby working like i said ,,all i get is when i plug in the usb sync lead on my pc in device manager i get HTC USB SYNC ,,what ever flashing software i use it wont work it says please connect via active sync but i cant as i have no rom on pda also i have no bootloader to flash via sd card ,,and fix bootloader tool wont work either as it wont connect with pda or communicate
i no the device can be recovered because its still working just needs the software rom and bootloader back so if you can show me how to flash my pda back to life i would be very grateful ,i have checked continously on the entire forum for my problem and i coudnt find nothing related to it
I agree
Tends to be a common problem and I've been coming to the site for months looking for help and have yet to find it. Any help would be appreicated.
Hello pdaman.
Sorry, that you didn´t get an answer from me, but do not know any other solution than mentioned here in the forum. I think the device is stuck, because you don´t have access to the bootloader to flash a new ROM via SD, and you can´t repair your bootloader, because the device do not came up , so that you get an connection via ActiveSync.
I personaly do not know any other solution to reflash the device....
Stefan
maybe this for the bold and brave
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WallabyJTAG
i dont get it ,,,,if the device shows HTC usb sync in device manager and the device is working fine just needs bootloader and rom back how can you say i,m stuck ,,,i spoke to many pda engineers all quoting me around 30pounds sterling to fix it so it is possible to do so oh welll it seems 1000's of people using this forum hasnt come across htc usb sync before? when i check on google htc usb sync i see that the treo handset uses similar features theres even special rom flash software that communicates with my pda right now but again there for treo and i contacted the software developers but no reply
i am trying my best to find a cure for this ,,,i,m so glad my blueangel device isnt as crude as the wallaby as i destroyed the bootloader many times on my blueangel and recovered it in seconds but the wallaby is so delicate
i will keep everyone posted if i find a way of flashing a wallaby device while theres no bootloader and os on it and it shows HTC usb sync in device manager and if theres anyone out there reading this please please share it with us as i,m sure i am not the only one who has this problem
know that ur frustrated but if the Stefan said that he honestly dont know the solution than why blame him bcoz "device is stuck", he helped to a tons of people about software problems with wallaby and Im sure that he would help you too if he know the solution

constant crashing

after installing any of the new roms my phone constantly crashes, and i dont know why...
is there a way to pull up an error log? or someone who would know how to stop it from crashing?
ive tried, DCD 2.1, and nueROM v2, they both crash on me.
searched around, and it said i need to use a relocker after flashing the custom rom?
but i cant find a relocker for the titan.

Have you thought about searching for the term...relocker...? Just a guess.
actually i searched "titan relocker"...
and im actually wanting someone to confirm that could be the problem before i waste another 40 minutes of my life.
now im sad, are you happy?
Yes, yes I am. I had the same problem day one. If the SPL doesn't match up right, your phone will freeze minute or two after it starts up. Mine would not as long as a USB cable was plugged in. Try using this.
Hard-SPL-240-MFG.exe
yes, mine seems fine, then i unplug it and it crashes over and over again...
ok...so im using that as an unlocked which is flashing the spl.
then install the ROM, then flash the radio and it should stop crashing?
yes.

Sim Free Tytn Upgrade To Wm6 Help Please

Hi, Let me honestly admit that I am a newby and have read the threads over the last few weeks so much that I'm really confused now. I read one thing which then asks you to click and read another, but the answers I want are only partly found.
So I hope someone can please take pity on me and answer the following:
I have a TyTN SIM FREE phone which has a Orange sim card. In fact, Virgin & o2 cards have been used on it but Orange seems the best at the mo'.
Does that mean its unlocked?
I am trying to upgrade to WM6 (without even thinking about WM6.1), but "Error 260" comes up each and every time. I have tried 150+ and its still the same.
Please believe me that I have tried every way mentioned on these forums. I've tried on a xp (I have Vista) and its still the same.
My phone screen just goes black when trying to install, then the error comes up.
What exactly is "OPEN PORT" ? I cannot find a thread that actually EXPLAINS that. What do I have to do when it says:"Reset your computer"? Which one, the desktop or the TyTN? If the latter, I have reset so many times. If the desktop, what do I have to reset?
My TyTN tells me that its a HERM 200 IPL- 1.00 and HERM 200-2.03.
If someone can just list in a order what I have to do in order to get this upgrade I would be for ever grateful. HTC do not want to know & London HTC Support Hotline was a washout.
I do hope to hear soon, cos' its started to drive me mad now.
reset both, try unplugging usb cable and plugging into another usb port if prob persists...
1). download and install Hard SPL ver 7. Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
This makes it easier or possible to unbrick your phone if something does(will) go wrong. THIS IS A MUST!!!!!!!
2). Once you have Hard SPL on your phone, you can either use the pc to flash OR the sd card method. I personally prefer the sd method as its harder to brick your phone. To do this, download the HERMES rom of your choice. Unzip(rar) the file and generally there are 2 files. RUU_Wrapper.exe & RUU_signed.nbh. Copy the RUU_signed.nbh onto a fat 32 formatted memory card and rename it to "HERMIMG.NBH". Put it back in the hermes and go to bootloader( hold power and OK button(above the flywheel) and then reset with the stylus. hold ALL the buttons down until it goes into tricolour screen. It should automatically detect the flash file and start the upgrade process, follow the prompts... Please remember to either delete or change the name of the .nbh file else it will upgrade next time you go into bootloader.
Hope this helps... Cheers...
Hi. Thank you for your reply and at the mo' I'm trying to get the Hard SPL7 file on my pocket pc. I've never come across something which sounds easy but being very difficult! The file is on my phone, but "will not unzip 'cos .net compact framework is not on my pocket pc" when I am staring at it in the face in my downloads.
What I've decided to do is to do a hard reset and start afresh. I'll let you know how I get on....
download it to your computer, not the phone
pls see the guides here: www.mrvanx.org
Sorry not been able to try anything yet due to illness. Going to try tomorrow & I hope it works. Not tried for a while and already dreading it.
I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for your replies.
Hi everyone. Just letting you know a friend of mine upgraded my pocket pc. He said it was "hard work" but he did it!
The phone works great and is much faster, but now I have another problem. It will not sync with WMDC.
It is possible a new thread will be following soon. I am at present, following other people's advice.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Letting us know what ROM you had flashed with would help. As the different ROMs have different solutions in solving that WMDC problem.

Rom Update - Connection Problem

I know, I know: First use the board-search and google...
I did that and I couldn't find anything useful for my issue.
I'm trying to update my HTC Prophet G4 to WM6.1...
I wanted to use SoftSPL and after executing the SPL.lnk the screen turns white as it should, but after that Windows XP doesn't recognize my phone anymore as connected.
I tried different USB-Ports, but the "ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe" keeps telling me "Error 260" which means it couldn't connect to my phone.
I'm really desperate cause I've already tried to upgrade for some days...
So if anyone knows how to fix that plz write =D English and German are okay with me

Thanks for posting, but as I already told you: I did my research...
So I already tried different FlashingTools, like ProphetTools etc.
When I SoftSPL, I get to the whitescreen but i cannot make my pc recognize the phone at my usb-port.
When I enter the 3-Colored-Screen manually it shows the usb-connectivity, but I cannot update the ROM...
There was a way (I cannot remember anymore which way I did it, cause I really tried very often) I entered the 3-Colored-Screen and there was "RUU" written in the right upper corner of the screen. But then again the connectivity doesn't work...
Also tried different usb-ports and cables...
I could say that I'm feeling like a weirdo, cause upgrading a rom seems easy and still makes my day miserable xD
//EDIT:
Didn't see the "Lazy_Tool" at the first glance, but now after trying I still get the same error...
//EDIT2:
Realized that the error-code could be useful^^ --> "Error[260]: Update Error" (Sth like that^^)
I had a similar issue. When your PC reports it cannot connect to the phone - does the phone restarts?

OK, rephrasing: the problem I had with my phone was that while a ROM update was running the phone would restart and I got the same error you did.
It turned out the battery was at fault, after replacing it with a new one - it works great.
If u do as dioxda2 says all should be fine. He is right in saying 260 is a connection error. That means unplugging all usb devices out of ur machine. It also means disabling all other connection software, like my raspberry program that display device screen when active sync'd. I always disable my anti virus and firewall (make sure ur not connected to internet at time).
i always ensure that the flashing tool is on the root drive, not in many folders (so place flash tool direct on ur main hard drive in its folder as uve unzipped) this itself can cuase connection errors. Ensure battery is 50% min too.
Good luck

HowTo go from a stock lock xv6800 to an unlock xv6800 Titan with Custom ROM

ATT: For ppl with MR1 or MR2 Rom!!! you need to downgrade to Verizon 2.09 org. stock rom!! FIRST!!
Here you go, read this: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanStockHome
When done come back for the upgrade
I Loaded everything via USB .. because I don't have a 2gb SD card, I got a 4gb SDHC card..
This is what I did, and I don’t know why someone have not made a HowTo thread
like this before ..
HowTo go from a 100% stock 2.09rom “lock” xv6800 Phone ..
To an unlock + latest Radio Rom + R4R Rom. .. all via USB.
1) [Unlock] run Hard-SPL-MFG.exe v2.40 (read each prompt and do as it say,
at the end, do CTRL+C to close the window, do not exit the bootloader mode on your device.
2) Load new Radio ROM, what I did was put the latest Radio ROM file “TITAIMG.nbh”
from “Titan Radio ROM 3.42.50.rar” into the c:\ttn240mfg folder made by “Hard-SPL-MFG.exe”
I also deleted all over *.nbh files before running “ROMUpdateUtility.exe”, once done
The RUU will close when done, but your Phone will remain in the Bootloader screen (SPL mode)
3) next load the OS ROM (DCD ROM) you like .. e.g. I like the R4Reloaded ROM
from “R4RLoaded.rar” .. just go to the RUU folder made when you unpack the
“R4RLoaded.rar” file .. and run “ROMUpdateUtility.exe”, when done your Phone
will finally reboot and OS will start up..
Summary:
1) unlock your phone (load 2.40 HardSPL)
2) load latest Radio Rom (e.g. Titan Radio ROM 3.42.50)
3) load OS/DCD ROM (e.g. R4Reloader)
* all load was done via USB .. very easy IMO..
took me about 5-6min doing each step slowly .. now I got to play with GPS lol
hope that will be easy too..

Could be a bad USB port. I had at least 5 go bad on me.
Could be a bad cable.
Reset PC
Put titan in booloader mode (always!) and try again... If a no go...
Buy $3.49 SD card from new egg and place NBH file on card. Make sure its named. TITAIMG.NBH. Put phone in bootloader again and follow onscreen instructions.
SD Card link if interested: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...E&N=2010070068 1053118914&bop=And&Order=PRICE
I would recommend a two gig but wanted to show you how cheaply it could be done. Probably releive your steress. I stopped flashing via USB.
USB flashing also takes about 3 to 4 times as long. If thats not a reason to use SD then nothing is ;c)

wow one day I got to try that lol I never had any issues with loading via USB
also never had a USB port going bad .. and will not stop anytime soon .. I got
a 4GB card so its not a matter of cost its the fact I needed to get my Phone
unlock and upgraded ASAP instead of waiting for a few days to use/get a 2gb < SD card ..
Also when I was loading your ROM it took less than 2min via USB so how
much faster is the old 1-2gb SD cards? Even when I did the unlock was under
2min .. because it was my first time I stop to read everything slowly .. I have been
back to stock a few times and unlock a few times and the full process now only
takes 5-6min from unlock, loading radio, loading os rom .. all done via usb under 6min
going to get a 2gb one day and test the speed diff. of loading via SD vs USB ..
BTW how is he going to load the files to his SD card without USB in the first place?
download via phone data-service? = cost $$.. and a ton slower download time,
than via the PC internet access ... IMO best to fix his USB issues .. + USB is not
just for loading files he may need it anyways to do other things..

So I take it you have a “USB” card reader/writer? And or moving the microSD card in/out
each time you need to do something? and or you use your Phone data-service to download everything?
[SD card reader/writer still use “USB”]
Well I got TomTom and other programs I run on my Phone .. TomTom is
over 850MB .. don't know about how ppl would download that via Phone
data-service .. best beat would be to use a card reader/write = USB!!
or just simply plug the Phone in = USB ...
So Please tell me if you don't use USB at all .. to load data to your SD card,
via the Phone USB port and or a USB SD card reader/write .. what do you use to
xfer larger files to your SD card?...

You use a card reader.
The titan is only USB 1.1.... Yeah, its true. That give a data transfer rate of 1.1MBPS.....
THE Sd card runs about twice that from card to internal storage.
So take the time you got now and cut it in half. Thats how much faster it will go.
4 GIG card wont work for flashing which is why I said what I said.
Im just trying to help but I detect alot of sarcasm in your post so I will stop helping. I really dont know much anyways.... Im sure can you tell. I just wrote the ROM in your sig block....
Stock Rom GPS Upgrade
Anyone who can help,
Apologies if this isn't the right post, but its the closest/most recent post I found. I've spent the last 3 hours digging around the posts and wikis and i guess i got myself confused. I just bought a verizon xv6800 on eBay and haven't gotten it yet. I dont know what oem rom it will come with yet but I already know that I want to use DCD's 3.2.6 custom rom, with 3.42.50 radio, and SPL 2.47. I'm not too worried abou the PRI... yet. I also don't want to use a data plan for GPS and am getting TomTom Nav 6.
The question is how/which SPL do I have to use to go from Verizon's non GPS Rom to a custom GPS-ROM and Radio. From all the posts I read people are flashing to 2.47 to go from stock non GPS to custom GPS. Neu SPL's wiki claims that trying to flash to 2.47 bootloader will brick my device if I have a non-GPS rom first. I really can't afford to brick this as I lost my old phone and paid more than I should have for this one.
I've flashed multiple devices in the past but this seems to be the most complicated (atleast alot of variations/options) and I'm feeling like n00b. I want to basically just have data free GPS on this phone and nothing else too special.
FYI I've already downloaded:
DCD 3.2.6
DCD Verizon CAB (not sure how to apply this, pre or post OS?)
Radio 3.42.50
Hard-SPL-MFG
nueSPLTitan-100-2.47-pack
and TitanUnlocker (1.20 SPL?)
Thanks in advance.
I've not heard of SPL 2.47 bricking your phone if you have an older rom/radio. As every phone I've flashed has started out with a non GPS radio/rom. You just can't use it if you don't also flash the rom/radio afterwards, or the phone won't boot. (This is normal behavior).
So you would install 2.47, then flash the radio via SD Card, then flash your rom via SD or USB.
Once the 3 items have been flashed it should boot just fine.
However, if your new phone comes with MR1 pre-installed, flash it back to the older Verizon stock rom that has Windows Mobile 6.0, then do the 3 steps listed above and you will have working GPS.
Otherwise GPS won't work.
Also, I thought I read that Verizon would no longer activate smartphones without a data plan. Or is that only on new activations?
BTC
GPS Upgrade
Thanks for the response.
I was hoping they only meant SPL 2.47 would only brick a device if you didn't upgrade the radio and rom at the same time. I just hadn't heard any word either way. Can anyone confirm this before I try it out? I'll probably end up being the guinea pig if not. If I have MR1 or MR2 i'll find an old stock rom to flash to.
Is it easier to flash to a new rom before I activate the phone with my account? I read an upgrade might cause me to lose network functionality. ASL or something gets erased, so i'd wanna upgrade first before activation and take care of it all at once?
Lastly, with DCD's rom i have to update to verizon's CAB. Do i run that after i'm back into my OS?
I Forgot
According to a Verizon rep about a week ago, only blackberry's require a data package. I can use my wifi for the smartphone and only use normal telephony access. My next question for them is if I can upgrade to the mobileemail option so I can use exchange/outlook, or do they require data for that.

After installing the custom rom, you will probably need to load the carrier cab unless you load a pre-built for verizon custom rom, it probably already has it in it.
In order to access email via internet, you pretty much need a data service, I don't think pushmail/sync will work via wireless.
You don't need either just to sync via USB cable with Outlook tho.

From what I've seen it appears that push mail and sync will work via wifi but the problem is that when the phone goes to sleep your wifi connection gets disconnected so it's not that useful.
Stock Upgrade
Thanks for all the help. My phone came in today so when I get home from work i'll start the flashing. I'm not all that worried about getting the email.. i'll use sync/wifi where I can, but i've got over 2 gbs mail in outlook on my work computer and not sure how the little phone can handle that anyway. Its really just gonna be a phone with GPS and if I can use it to stay current with emails thats a plus.
I've got a 2 gb no "HC" sd and a 4 gb sdhc card. Is the 2 gb too big to use for flashing? I know the 4 gb will be for data once i'm up and running.
I didn't see if anyone said I should flash before activating phone so avoid any A number issues or if I can activate before flashing.
I'll give an update tonite once i get home.

IMO keep the phone stock .. than activate it, once done .. unlock and upgrade the radio/rom ..
then run *228 if needed .. new activation has 24-48hr where Verizon will perform a full service
refresh for your phone .. this way you'll not need to call in for service .. I don’t know if Verizon
save any of your phone info during activation, one of the reason I feel it should be activated
with stock lock roms .. then upgraded ..
Activation
I dont have service at my actual house (I live in the boonies and work in a city) so i'll go activate the phone, come home and start flashing. Based on what was said I dont have to wait the full 24-48 hours to start flashing, as long as i initiate the activation before flashing and reprogram if necessary?
Mr Free- I noticed in your signature your running roms R4R, dcd 3.2.6, and titan reloaded 1.3. I dont know if I understand fully isn't titan reloaded different than dcd3.2.6? you can't dual boot can you? I probably just dont understand yet.
