New Verizon XV6800 - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

hi, i just got the XV6800 from verizon today because my Moto Q9m died after only 7 months. so they gave me this for it. now after reading the forum and many other sites and tutorials. i am ready to flash my phone. is this the easiest "[Tutorial] Verizon xv6800 Custom ROM Flashing" to follow? i read it and it didn't seem that bad. just wanted to know and make sure if the names of the files he speaks of are the most recent one's. and i take it i should back up my factory setting file off the phone before i attempt to do this. a few of my friends at work has this phone and i liked the fact they have it doing somethings the iphone does. like you can scroll through contacts by just sliding your finger and all. i would like to do this stuff as well. is that all then included in the flash or must i install other apps.
Phone has
Software Version: 2.09.605.8 (ROM version)
Firmware Version: 1.30.60 (radio version)
please help, really appreciate it
thanks

His guide is pretty good. Everything is up to date except for the SPL. I would recommend using the latest bootloader put out by No2Chem - version 2.47, but that's my only change from his guide. It installs via an SD card only, whereas his guide uses the computer to get Olipro's 2.4. You should be able to find a guide to using SD cards to flash as well as links to 2.47 throughout this forum and ppcgeeks.
Or you can certainly follow his guide as written and you'll be just fine.
Ivan

Keep in mind that using No2chems SPL you cannot go back to stock Verizon radio and ROM..... So if your phone breaks, you have to bring it in as is and chance they don't notice the difference.....

ok on the fact that once you go new flash you can't go back to factory. so before i do this i should back up my contacts. since the phone is new i don't have anything else on it. is there anything else i should back up either? so after its flashed then how do i get the programs on to scroll by just sliding? is that stuff that can be put on with out flashing this. but from what i read on here flash makes the phone run much better anyway

You can flash the old bootloader back on the phone after upgrading to 2.47 though then go back to the original ROM and radio, you just cant flash provider ROM from 2.47 just like you cannot from 2.40.
Am I missing something about what you are saying?

so i can flash to newer rom and be able to go back.. now i'm confused

if you i install themes must it be a new roM

I'm pretty sure he's simply saying: if you use No2Chem's 2.47, you can't directly flash back to Verizon's stock firmware, but if you flash back to the old bootloader (factory bootloader), you can.
and LilSnoop40, as far as I know, all of those files are the most up-to-date that I could find. I may update the guide because I am noticing (from other people's experience) that after the 3.42.02 firmware (which I flashed to, not 3.42.30), that you need to use a Low-density MicroSD (not MicroSDHC) card to flash on the new radios.
If you need help with any of this in more detail, feel free to contact me.

serfs - As I understand it, once you flash to No2chems SPL, you cannot go back to a non GPS rom. I asked this in his thread and it was confirmed. Now, they didn't say whether you could flash Olli Pro and then use his re-locker and then flash the stock ROM.... Look at this post....

Help! Bricked an Alltel PPC6800

I spent all day yesterday researching the DCD upgrade until I thought I was ready - boy was I wrong. I'm not computer challenged! I've been writing FW for over 20 years. Things shouldn't be this hard. Anyway, here's what i did:
1) Downloaded olipro 2.4 (except somehow I got 1.2 - not really sure how that happened). Installed it and everything was fine (expect it saysSPL-1.20.Olipro)
2) Downloaded DCD_3.0.1_Alltel.exe and tried to install. It appeared to work, except I never got to customization screen and when the phone re-booted, I just go the Alltel splash screen.
3) Tried to soft-reset, same problem
4) Tried a hard-reset, same result
5) Went into the bootloader and notice I was at 1.2 instead of 2.4, so I downloaded Hard-SPL-MFG.exe (which I believe is the code name for Olipro 2.4) and tried to run it. The batch job fails because it can't talk to my phone (says no device detected) I suspect this is because the phone cannot run ActiveSync.
6) Then I read that 2.4 should be used for GPS ROMs and not for non-GPS, So I thought I needed a non-GPS version of the ROM. So I downloaded DCD_Titan_3.0.0_Alltel.exe and tried that. This also appeared to work (dl to 100% and the phone reset). But again the phone hung at the Alltel splash screen (now it says "no Radio")
7) I'm begining to panic. I trie to download the original Alltel ROM, but they've just put up a new version. So I try RUU_TITAN_ALLTEL_WWE_3.35.671.9_RS_TITAN_03.37.20_Alltel_2.01_AM_PPST_Ship.exe. It causes the phone to reset after downloading 12%. Then stops with a "Command Error"
8) Finally I decide the bootloader must be hosed, so I tried to use the re-locker. Titan_Relocker.exe. This also will not copy the files (due to no ActiveSync) so I extract the files and try to run the RUU directly. Still no joy, the download immediately goes to 100% and when the phone resets it still says SPL-1.20 Olipro.
9) Searching a little more I found the microSD upgrade option. So I copied each of the NBH files (one at time of course) the the root directory and renamed them TITAIMG.nbh and reset into the bootloader (yes, I formated to FAT32 first). The loader never seemed to even ready the SD. It never asked if I wanted to upgrade.
So, here I am. Stuck with a phone that only seems to be able to run the bootloader. The BL does change between USB and serial when I un-plug and plug the USB cable. I can boot to the Alltel splash screen - it says "No Radio". The other red letters that used to appear when the HTC splash appeared are gone.
Any advice? I'm pretty desparate.

Pop Out the Battery for a minute
Have you tried popping the battery out for about a minute while its not plugged in yet?
Your problem is you didn't read the instructions carefully enough.
First, you never should have flashed a 3.x.x ROM without making SURE you properly had the 2.4 bootloader installed.
Second, you tried flashing a 3.x.x ROM BEFORE updating your radio to 3.35.04. It says in numerous threads as well as on the first page of the thread that NO radio is included.
What appears to have happened, is you have a 3.x.x rom installed with no radio, and the 1.2 bootloader which can't even boot 3.x.x roms.
My question to you is, have you ever unlocked this phone before or before all of this were you running stock? If you still have the stock bootloader installed and not 2.4, then you need to find the STOCK alltel radio AND rom. You then must flash the stock alltel radio, followed by the stock rom. All you need to do is plug the phone in with usb, manually enter the bootloader and run the RUU's for each.
Once you get your phone back to stock and it boots, only then continue on to reflash. Now, this is VERY important...DO NOT attempt to install any 3.x.x rom without first making SURE you have the new bootloader installed correctly, and second, running the sprint update to get the 3.35.04 radio installed.

Yes, numerous times. Sorryy I didn't mention this in my post.

Agreed, but what is done is done
Second, you tried flashing a 3.x.x ROM BEFORE updating your radio to 3.35.04. It says in numerous threads as well as on the first page of the thread that NO radio is included.
I thought the DCD_3.0.1_Alltel.exe image contained the radio. Obviously I was wrong.
What appears to have happened, is you have a 3.x.x rom installed with no radio, and the 1.2 bootloader which can't even boot 3.x.x roms.

I was running stock.

I'm pretty sure I don't have the stock bootloader. It says SPL-1.20.Olipro

I've tried the latest stock ROM RUU_TITAN_ALLTEL_WWE_3.35.671.9_RS_TITAN_03.37.20_ Alltel_2.01_AM_PPST_Ship.exe but it re-boots the phone while downloading (@ 12%)

IF I get the phone back as stock, I doubt I will EVER try to re-flash it again.
Here's the link to the old Alltel Rom and Radio. http://www.htcamerica.net/support/ppc6800/software-downloads.html
If that doesn't work for you, you should be able to load up any of the older 2.x radios with an older dcd ROM, then upgrade to OliPro 2.4, then load the new Alltel Radio and Rom which you already have.
I've had this exact same problem (almost) except with Verizon (shouldn't be any difference whatsoever.) With the "No Radio" error messages and such -- and the key is the microSD flash. The reason it didn't recognize the image is (probably) because of the way you formatted your SD card. It can't be formatted in windows and work, you can't use a quickformat, and it has to be unconditional. The /x dismounts the volume so the volume is totally accessable. /a:512 tells it something about how many sectors to use or something -- idk -- but it works.
Open a DOS window (start, run, type "cmd")
this is your command:
format x: /fs:fat32 /u /x /a:512
Replace x: with the drive letter of your microSD card. Be sure of this.
Other than the drive letter type it exactly as is says.
1. Run the titan relocker.
2. Rename the stock alltell rom(s) as TITAIMG.NBH one at a time if there is more than one (radio and rom, unless they are together) and put them on your microSD one at a time (in the root directory.) Order shouldn't matter, but I ran ROM then Radio. Open bootloader and make sure it's not Olipro. The screen should pick up the image on the microSD card.
Flash, after 100% remove the battery, replace, and then hard reset.
These are the steps that I took with my Verizon issue and it worked perfectly.
Once this is done don't give up on the modified ROMs. Sometimes when I upgrade friends phones it won't let me go directly to 2.4 Olipro. I have to flash 1.2, then a 1.2 compatible RADIO and 1.2 compatible ROM. Then I have to flash to 2.4 unlocker, 2.4 compatible radio (usually 3.27) and then a radio 3.27 compatible ROM (pref. DCD 2.3.2.) After which, I can flash the stock Sprint 3.35 (without ever booting the OS) and then flash the DCD 3.x.x ROM.
Hope this helps you out --
I've tried the latest stock ROM RUU_TITAN_ALLTEL_WWE_3.35.671.9_RS_TITAN_03.37.20_ Alltel_2.01_AM_PPST_Ship.exe but it re-boots the phone while downloading (@ 12%)

The latest stock alltel rom is a 3.x.x rom as it states in the file name...3.35.671.9
As I said before, you need the 2.4 bootloader to boot any 3.x.x roms.
If you have unlocked with 1.20, then you have a little more work cut out for you.
This is what you need to do:
Since you have 1.20 and you can't get an activesync connection, you need to first flash an old custom alltel rom (NOT the stock alltel rom). DO NOT flash any dcd 2.x.x rom as the poster instructed above as it also requires olipro 2.4. I believe if you search for dcd's 1.70 kitchen and roms you'll find one there. You also must flash radio version 1.40. THIS will allow you to boot up into windows mobile and finally get an activesync connection. Since you can't boot right now, your best bet is to flash both of these with the microsd card.
The next step is now that you can boot into windows and have an activesync connection, you need to RELOCK your phone using the titan relocker, follow the directions carefully...and if you get stuck in the bootloader after the relock, you need to use the titan exitbl application that will force you out of the bootloader.
If all is well you now should have olipro 1.06 (stock bootloader) back on the phone. Here's the catch, you won't be able to boot the 1.70 rom anymore...so now you must manually enter the bootloader (power+camera+reset) and NOW flash the stock alltel rom and radio again with the microsd card. Once you flash the stock rom and radio, you will now have the stock bootloader, stock rom, and stock radio.
Now just unlock with olipro 2.4 and MAKE SURE it is on there correctly. Then run ROM RUU_TITAN_ALLTEL_WWE_3.35.671.9_RS_TITAN_03.37.20_ Alltel_2.01_AM_PPST_Ship.exe which DOES include the 3.37.20 radio as it also states in the file name. After that, you are free to flash a dcd alltel rom, as you will already have the proper bootloader and radio.

excuse me, but if you read my directions in order, that's not what it says to do in the section about fixing his current situation.
AND,
If you carefully read what I had to say about future upgrades:
"...Then I have to flash to 2.4 unlocker, 2.4 compatible radio (usually 3.27) and then a radio 3.27 compatible ROM (pref. DCD 2.3.2.)"
In no way do I mean to flame, but please read.

Thanks dizwayney. This was the link I needed. From here I was able to re-flash the original Alltel 2.14 ROM and radio. It is back to it's old self (well - except for all my data).
Oddly enough it still says SPL-1.20.Olipro for the bootloader. Oh well, as long as it boots I really don't care.
One other thing I learned during this adventure. You can't flash form a 4GB microSD, it must be 2GB or less (in order for the 512 byte allocation to work). If I'd known this earlier it might have saved a lot of time.
Again, thanks to everyone who responded.

Revert to other bootloaders after NueSPL

I saw something here about this from azclown and really want to know if it is true.
After flashing nueSPL is it possible to downgrade to other bootloaders?
I tried to run unlocker (Olipro 1.20) and it wouldn't connect right. Do I need to use relocker then load 1.20 then load stock rom. I am testing this out for another phone right now and am a little curious why this would be created so that no other bootloaders could be reloaded.
What I am realizing is that this bootloader is not such a good idea for Verizon users, being that they will not be able to revert to the stock rom (as Verizon has not released a GPS Rom yet).
Am I right here?

um, DO NOT attempt to DOWNGRADE your SPL unless you want a permanent brick.
reasoning:
ALL ATTEMPTS whatsoever to downgrade the radio to a pre-GPS radio have F-A-I-L-E-D. They have all resulted in BROKEN BRICKED IRREPARABLE devices.
1.xx SPLS are not (at least that i'm aware of, compatible with GPS radios)
therefore, you cannot downgrade your radio to 1.xx.
You can downgrade to olipro-2.40, but thats pretty much it. Unless your device is SuperCID, i would NOT ADVISE locking your device, because you will only be able to download updates signed by VZW, and as we all know - there are none.
If warranty is a concern,... it would be better to turn in a complete brick than a partial brick. flash a modified VZW OS Only with proper OEMDRIVERS, then run my relocker and lock the SPL down, then warranty it. /... I wouldn't suggest this for anything else, because in case of a bad OS flash, you'd be pretty screwed...
Thanks for chiming in on this no2chem, there's a lot of good information in that post!

now, by that do you mean they werere were bricked by downgrading the radio with nueSPL previously (or currently) loaded on the device, or downgrading the radio on a device that never had nueSPL loaded on it?
the only reason i ask this is because ive done several radio downgrades from olipro 2.4 to 1.2 to the stock radio/ROMs for refurbishment and ive never had a problem. i dont use the stock SPL because theres no tech around here smart enough to check it.

No2chem.. I think I am an exception or my XV6800 must be special because I actually messed up my phone because i wanted the new Radio 3.42.02 but couldn't get my Phone to Flash From SD.. So I had to flash a sprint 3.56 ROM to get the Radio and then flashed Verizon kitchen before Sprint customization started.. but for some weird reason.. Sprint customization still ran after i flash the Verizon ROM.. My EPST Settings were all Sprint.. lols..
These are the steps I took to bring it back..
1. Ran Titan_Relocker to relock SPL from version 2.40 Olipro
2. Flashed Stock Verizon ROM and let Verizon Customization run
3. Unlock using NueSPL2.47 letting it format my SD card to enable Flashing from SD [Thank GOD you added this feature]
4. Placed the new Radio 3.42.30 onto my SD card and enter Bootloader and Flashed it [Thanks to You]
5. then flashed my Verizon kitchen.. All with no problem..
I've discussed this method with some of the guys over at PPCKitchen.org and they were concerned about me bricking my phone.. but I said oh what the heck.. my phone is already messed up..
every one was supprised that it worked.. lol.. I must be one of the lucky few..

weird. what were you running before step 1?
the problem seems to manifest itself when you take a GPS radio, and flash a 2.xx RADIO onto it. When you flashed the verizon stock rom, are you sure you had the 2.xx radio on it?
the reason everyone was concerned about your phone though, was because there were several bricks produced by downgrading radios - ask ImCokeMan, he'll tell you..

I didn't quite understand your question..
"When you flashed the verizon stock rom, are you sure you had the 2.xx radio on it?"
When I ran Titan_Relocker.. it installed version 1.06..
Before the Sprint radio upgrade I had...
Hard SPL2.40 Olipro
Radio 3.39.10
No2chem wm6.1 5067 Kitchen
I have also went from a GPS radio to the stock verizon radio/rom a few times because of accidentally letting sprint customizations run.
i am not 100% sure if i had the stock radio on my phone. however it worked with stock verizon rom and phone/ data/ text all worked in stock verizon rom/radio.... so i assume it was the correct radio since it worked with the stock rom...?
EDIT: i do believe i had verizon 1.3 radio on my phone after flashing back from a GPS radio
also i remember reading somewhere that if you do flash back to a stock radio/ rom that it might say stock radio but it will still have components of the gps radio's... i think i read it at ppcgeeks

i also have downgraded radio from 3.xx to 1.xx without any problems.
I flashed back to non gps as well. I was having bad experiences with dcd's 2.x so I went to his 1.7. No issues flashing at all.
I have also downgraded to 2 different phones from GPS radios to NON-GPS radios.... Verizons stock radio is 1.30, not a 2.x radio, so that may be the issue for some other folks on different carriers.... It may be an incompatibility with 2.x radios and GPS radios.... I have a folder on my desktop that has all the files necessary AND the instructions clearly written out on how to downgrade..... It has saved my butt 2 times now....

Ya I used to switch from gps to nongps all the time back when the original leaked radio was the only one out... I also converted my last phone (sent in for broken button) back to complete stock vzw (locked and all) as well....
I haven't tried doing any downgrading after installing nueSPL though... are you indicating this is a probelm after flashing nueSPL? Your post has me a 'lil scared now but I'll wait for followups before I attempt anything.. no plans to go back to nongps anyways, though... the new radios seem to have the bugs worked out.

Only No2chem knows for sure, but after reading his post again I think he's saying you can downgrade to Ollipro 2.4, if thats the case then one should be able to downgrade back to stock as well....
I think no2 is onto something here. I am on VZW also and have gone back to stock from a 3.xx gps radio --> stock 1.30 radio.
I have a feeling that for once we may be glad that verizon never does any updates - they still use 1.30 radio - and that may be the common thread in all our (vzw) success at going back to non gps.
I'd say that I was onto this before him.... He just knows how to verify it...

Speaking of the man himself ^^^^ .. I would note that you had all the data, I just thought it was odd that anyone who tried to go back to a 2.X radio would brick it, while us verizon folks would go back to 1.X and have no issues....

Cricket XV6800 Bricked

I currently have a Verizon Wireless fully flashed to cricket XV6800. I decided to know about hacking the Mogul so what I try to do was Look up WMDC 6.1 and apply it to my phone. When i did this the screen stopped at 11%. I took out the battery and tried to turn it on and i get a Red, Green, and Blue color on the start up screen. The words that are on the phone are TITA100 SPL-1.20.Olipro and on the bottom it says USB when connected and Serial when not connected. I looked every where to and figure it out how to get my phone back to the same way. I downloaded so many programs like Titan Unlocker, Titan exitbl, but all these programs do is say my phone is not connected when it is connected. I hear the Sound when the connection for the USB is connected and disconnected. What can i do Will i ever get my phone back to the same state that it once was. I was wondering also that since my phone was flashed that the software will be erased. Is there any way that I can get my Cricket Service. By the way before i did all the hacking what i did was back everything up on the memory card. Is there a way I can restore that through the phone even though i cant access the menu?
I'm going crazy--Thank you for your time to read and for those who can give me some word of advice or some way that my problem can be solved.
Thank you
if u are using xv6800.. i believe u have to install bootloader 2.40 or 2.47.. maybe that might be the problem when installing wm6.1
First, your phone is not bricked.. bricked means broken.. unfixable.. a brick!
You also need to let us know what you software you want to run... DCD 3.2.6?? WMDC 6.1 is Windows Mobile Device Center.. it's not a rom?? So I dont know what you tried to flash.
You need to read the instructions!! Sounds like You upgraded your rom (or tried to) with a non compatible bootloader.. if you dont want to bust your $200 - $500 phone perminently.. you should read the directions twice.. (I read them 4 times, then asked questions before the first time I flashed mine)
When you plug in the device and hear the usb sound.. check device manager.. make sure you see a usb device.. Your OS shoul have installed drivers... Then try the info below.

1. Download OliPro 2.40 and run it. Ignore the part that asks you to verify the Active Synch connection. Its not needed for anything but a connection confirmation.
2. After running OliPro 2.40 you should be stuck at the three color bootloader screen, Like you are now. If not hold Camera and Power and use stylus to put phone in bootloader. Make Sure it says OLIPRO 2.40 for the version on the bootloader. If not then re-run oliupro and make sure to follow the directions. Especially noting that it asks you to disconnect then reconnect the device.

After that you can Flash a Radio, then a rom (I recommend the SD method)
And the versions in my signature.
You can get the SPL 2.40 here:
http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/titan/spl/
You should also read this WIKI
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanProblems
If you cant flash SPL 2.40 you will need to flash back to a ROM compatible with SPL 1.20
Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392133
I'd try to grab one of thoise older Roms and flash using SD card method.
Then from within Windows Mobile (on your device) Upgrade bootloader to 2.47 (Available from the same link as 2.40 above)
Then flash the radio and rom version I have in my signature.
And dont forget to install carrier cab.
I can't seem to connect my xv6800 to the computer so I can run that program.
I plug it in and the sound comes up and I run the program but it says that it can't copy to device.

Then you need to get a Rom and radio compatible with SPL 1.20.. You'll need a SD card thats Equal to or less than 2GB (NON SDHC)
Check the compatibility here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392133
Read the instructions for flashing this here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TITAN_GettingStarted
Check the Flashing with a SD card section.
Process is the same for the radio and the rom.
I cant seem to find an available rom that you need though.. I'll post back when i do.
Unless someone else has a trick for you...
You can also try a another machine that may recognize your phone.
What did you actually try to flash your phone with, and how did you do it.. this is important to help you.
Download DCD 1.6.10 and flash it to your device with the SD card method (Instructions and links in my previous Post) I couldnt find the rom, but I downloaded the kitchen and cooked a rom that should work for you.
Download it from my webserver here:
http://x51.nx-1.com/TITAN/Roms/
Remember you need a proper SD card for this.. if you don't have one, you'll need to buy one.
After flashing this rom.. Assuming your radio is compatible... You should boot into the OS (forget making calls or getting data connection) Just download SPL 2.47 and execute it on your device.. once the SPL is upgraded, Flash the newest Radio, flash the newest rom, run the carrier cab, install aplications..
Let me know if you run into trouble.
okay so what I did was cook up a ROM and then added the Radio 3.37 from alltel on it. I restated the phone and waited the windows mobile 6.1 load screen did not change I moved my keyboard and the sound functioned. I did a restart a hard reset everything I believe it is something with the rom. Any suggestions?
Thanks

do you have one of the correct bootloaders? because just flashing to a custom rom and adding a new radio doesn't give you the bootloader that you need so you have to have that too...you can check it by holding down the power button, the camera button and inserting your stylus into the soft reset hole at the bottom of the phone and to get back out of it just do a soft reset but it needs to be be either 2.40 or 2.47 not 1.20 or anything else

if you now have the correct bootloader and radio...try flashing with a pre-cooked rom like dcd 326 or the rom from the links that i gave you...the popular one was the black pill and there is one that's specifically for cricket
do I just google that build number or is there a specific program I should download?
Thanks

I included links, and all the information you would need.. (Like the Rom/Radio/SPL compatibility list) yet you didn't read it.
I spent time finding those links, downloading a rom.. cooking it for you, and uploading it to my webserver so you can download it.

I also explained that once you boot into windows with that rom, you need to upgrade your bootloader to 2.47 (with instructions) and then your radio, and then rom.
The path was simple..
Flash dcd 1.6.10 (compatible with SPL 1.20) so the phone will boot
Upgrade SPL (bootloader to 2.47)
Flash new radio (3.47.50)
Flash new Rom (3.2.6)
Run carrier cab.
If you are still asking about where to get the (SPL) bootloader.. I guess I cant help you....

Uh Oh. Did I just trash my Titan?

I've been a long time lurker here and I just recently acquired an XV6800 (currently suffering with an i760). I have read the Titan Wiki (as well as countless other pages, and yes, I did search before asking) and I think I may have just made a mistake.
I had a stock 1.04 bootloader on it and following the directions I found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome
I upgraded to the nueSPL 2.47 package. I used the SD card to do the upgrade. From what I can tell, the bootloader installed just fine. The program ran successfully and when I check my bootloader (camera-power-reset) it shows that 2.47 is installed.
What I neglected to do was read the "IMPORTANT" section first. (I know, I know...) My phone has a version 2.xx (stock) ROM on it, not 3.xx.
Did I just brick my phone, or is there something I should do to try and reverse changing the bootloader? Or, am I fine, and I don't really need to worry about this?
Thanks for all your help in advance,
Dustin
lol no your Phone is OK.. and this goes to ANYONE .. if your Phone boots
(to the bootloader 4 color screen) your Phone is ok .. just need to load
up the correct Radio or OS ROM / custom OS ROM..
ok DustinEarnhardt
to fix your issue .. I take it .. you just unlock your phone and loaded a GPS Radio?
if so all you need is to load a new OS ROM, put your Phone back in bootloader made ..
connect it to the computer .. when you see "USB" on the screen you are ready to load a new OS ROM ..
simple download any custom OS ROM you like then run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe
thats all you need to do.. unless you did not load the correct Radio .. then
you'll need to load up a new radio as well..
BTW the only time a Phone is "trash" is when you can't get in to SPL bootloader mode
BTW you can load a new Radio via Flash or USB ..
I made a little RUU for USB Radio flash .. but its very easy
via an mSD card .. just put the radio file with the name "TITAIMG.NBH"
on your mSD card and plug it in .. you can do the same
for OS ROMs as well..
Thank you for the quick response! This place is great!
To clarify, basically right now, I have a stock ROM and radio, with a 2.47 bootloader. I can get the 4 color bootloader screen no problem, and the phone boots normally to the stock OS ROM and operates.
My next step (again following the guide here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome ) is to upgrade the radio ROM to Titan Radio ROM 3.42.02. I'm basing this on the decision to use the dcd 3.2.6 kitchen. It was recommended here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=dcdtitanroms to use that Radio ROM. (Oh and I'm using dcd 3.2.6 because from everything I've read, its the most stable at the current writing.)
Hopefully there are no huge problems with what I'm about to do, but if there is, maybe someone can stop me before I try to do this later tonight.
yp thats about it..
Load up a new Radio .. I like "3.42.50" then load up any OS ROM you like..

[Q] Reverting to factory default consultation needed pls?

Due to display flickering issue which is worse and worse from day to day. I decided to restore stock rom for my T-Mobile MDA Vario IV to make a complain.
My device is Security Unlocked, with different Radio and ROM so i would like to know if my steps for reverting is ok. I do not want to make my device bricked!!
I have EXE file with ROM from T-Mobile www which includes all like SPL, RADIO, ROM etc.
So my conclusion what i have read is that i have to:
1) restore stock Radio
2) remove security lock
3) remove Hard-SPL
4) flash stock ROM from EXE file i have already downloaded. It will overwrite 1.90 SPL to 1.69 which was my default and overwrite ROM too.
Can anyone experienced with this stuff tell me if i am right? thank a lot.
With the steps you have listed you will be good to go. Just follow your steps and you are good.

I am not a noob i have read this many times, so i know what is the "official" routine. But this (official) routine was, i think made, for people who had no choice (as me with original exe) and they had to dump their ROM first, and than reconstruct part by part. And because the dumped ROM will never be CID safe, they had this tutorial 1. Radio, 2. OS, 3. SPL and it rally does make sense for me.
But i am lucky, because my operator (T-Mobile) shipped the device with EXE, which contains all the stuff (Radio, SPL, OS, RUU) and it is directly for my CID. So that is why i think my tutorial in the first post will work. And i think it should work though if i only remove Security unlock and Hard-SPL. Because it will overwrite all partitions in device even restored Radio, OS etc.
So am i right ?
your right and to save you step dont worry bout radio removal since its in the stock rom pack like u said just load the 1.90 for warrenty in the hard spl thread and relock your phone as an extra precation(some carriers care some dont) the run the exe and ure golden
ps. PimBackup is your friend (just in case u forgot)

Dear not a noob,
You asked a question, and you were given the "official" routine. If you knew the "official" routine, and you were going to do it your way anyway, it kinda makes your question unnecessary. I remind you that you are not the only person who reads these forums. In fact more than a hundred have read this thread. Some of these people "noobs" or not may want to know the "official" routine.
I personally don't care what you do or where you put your phone. But if anyone reading this thread follows the official routine they will not have any problems.
I understand why people don't like answering questions in these forums. No good deed etc etc......

Dear Ray,
you did not understand my question. That is all that i can say about it. I know about official routine to restoring stock defaults, but i was asking if my routine could lead me to same result. Because as from what i have learned in this forum this routine should lead me to the same result more easier way because i have RUU with stock ROM direct for my CID.
Your way i have to first extract nbh image from exe. Second i have to extract each nb from nbh. Third i have to make nbh from each nb, radio is not necessary, because it is already here. And for fourth my SPL is 1.69.0000 which is different from SPL contained in the Hard-SPL removing pack and it does not work for me just to replace the SPLs. And until now i did not find out why. Someone few months ago told me that i can use the SPL from Hard-SPL removing pack (1.90.0000 i think) and then overwrite it with my stock ROM package, which will restore my stock SPL and Radio, OS again as well. So official routine works for those who had to dump their ROM to backup their stock ROM, those who were not as lucky as me to have stock ROM with RUU for their CID. This procedure, i personaly think is OK, is not covered here on the forum, and that is why i was aking for blessing from someone more involved in this problmes...is it ok now?
PS: anything i can flash after removing Security Lock and Hard-SPL is my stock ROM and that is what i have. So it should work if there are not some any other things which i have missed somewhere!
Tom
bah dont worry bout them crackheads say i can speak from experience that your way work since thats exactly what i did last week only att exe pack and it did overite the 1.90 stock spl, changed to 1.95 in my case, like u say along with the radio and os. only diferance is i never security unlocked my phone sincei was happy with the raphel radios . now im happy with my new(well refurblished ) fuze.
p.s. i had defective screen too incase you were wondering
Everybody play nice
Ok, that being said, since you have the "official" exe from your Carrier, all you really have to do is:
Run the .exe from your Carrier - this will replace the stock Radio, ROM, and boot splash.
Install the warranty stock SPL 1.90 from the Hard-SPL thread (using the Hard-SPL RUU, of course).
Re-run the .exe from your Carrier, which will overwrite the 1.90 SPL with the stock version.
Other methods will likely work too, but IMHO, that's the easiest .
