If your intention was to SIM unlock your phone, all you have to do was to contact AT&T with with the original phone number the phone was registered with & the IMEI number.
Or get the original owner to do it for you.
Pop in your new SIM card & when prompted for the SIM Unlock code, just input the code that AT&T provides you.
No cable, no pin-outs needed.
Then, use the microSD method to flash the phone.
You're done!
But, if you want to sync with your PC, it's highly recommended that you purchase a sync-charge cable as this is about the only means to sync your phone if BT ActiveSync is not working on the ROM you're planning to upgrade to.

PLEASE HELP!!! DAMAGED SX-56!!!

I bought an SX56 on ebay, it was locked to ATT, I unlocked it with your GREAT SER and brought it to a service provider here in Mexico, he did not know the phone and did push on the right hole of the SIM card, I think he damaged the phone, the warning is very clear : 'Dont put the stylus on the right hole to the right of the SIM card, it will cause irreparable damage to your device' . Stupid dude did not read the instructions.
The device now only can be turned on when it is on the cradle.
Helpme please!!!
did it break? if not, find a way to pull it bak in place.
if anything... open the case and rewire it.
I'm so stupid. The plastic door was not well closed, the phone was able to turn on when it was on the cradle because the walls of the cradle closed the plastic door.
Thanks to the great guys at xda-developers.com I now can use my device on MEXICOOOOO
Saludos! hehehe
Hi dude, how did u unlock the device ?
Hi mate
I got the device from a friend at the US (I am in Israel)

Haim
yes! but it WILL hard reset your device!
download the 'special edition rom 1.2' from this website.
or cook your own 3.xx.xx
that one has a built in function that will permanatly remove the lock.
after that you can upgrade to any 2003 version you like.
and by the way, incase you didnt know, there are great
localizing software, in your case Hebrew, for ppc.
wich will enable you to write hebew alphabet and all...

Unable to see T-mobile network with Pay As You Go SIM

Greetings all,
I'm having the following issue with a Qtek 1020 I just purchased from Microdirect, sold as SIM unlocked. The phone just doesn't find the network when I turn it on with my Pay As You Go T-mobile SIM. No error message pops up, nothing asks me for an unlock code etc, I just get the message 'No Service' under Connectivity when I select the aerial icon at the top of the screen. When I go to Phone Settings I can see listed under 'other networks' O2 and Vodafone, but no T-mobile. I've tried changing GSM bands in the bootloader and listing networks but to no avail (I switched through 900, 1900 and 900/1800). I have also tried the unlocking tools around this site with no success. I know the SIM works as it asks for my PIN when I switch on and I can also browse through contacts stored on it. I'm wondering if anyone here has any ideas as I'm all out.
Information about my Qtek:
Qtek 1020
ROM version: 4.02.04 ENG
ROM date: 8/24/05
Radio version: A.33.02
Protocol version: 1.3.3
Model No: PW10B1
Please don't let me pull any more hair out :x
Thanks and warm regards,
Neil.
Same here
Hi,
Just wanted to let you know you're not alone! I too bought the 1020 from Microdirect and have the same problem. I've tried my t-mobile pay as you go SIM in an i-mate pda2k and it worked straight away. That made me think the 1020 was restricted to o2/vodafone. If its an unlocked PDA why do Microdirect say it won't work with Orange? Where I work we successfully unlocked an XDA and used an Orange SIM, but that was a couple of years ago.
I've e-mailed qtek but have had no response yet.
I've tried the xda developers ROM and while it is cool I still get the problem with the t-mobile SIM, although it says No Signal as opposed to No Service. I was going to try the GSM modes on the bootloader but notice you've tried that already so I won't bother.
If I get any further I'll post back asap.
Mark
Thanks for your reply Mark and now I can rest knowing I'm not the only one having trouble! I too tried the developer's ROM with no luck, although it was nice to play with the extra applications. Funny how Microdirect stated that it was compatable with T-Mobile, when it seems that it is not. I tried my sister's T-Mobile contract SIM and it doesn't work either, but my mum's Vodafone SIM works fine as well as my dad's Pay As You Go Vodafone SIM. It seems like this device is locked out of T-Mobile.
Regards,
Neil.
News from Microdirect
Microdirect have backtracked on the unlocked claim.
See link below for their comments.
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=11864&GroupID=1162
Oh well!
Yep I saw that. I decided to keep the PDA because it was such a good deal and I'm trying to go for a cheap contract with Vodafone. Check out http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/phonenetwork-84-1-Nokia_1100_on_Vodafone.html - £8 per month for the first 6 months then £16 afterwards. You get 1000 off-peak minutes per month to landlines and other Vodafone users as well as 250 TXTs plus £110 cash back after 6 months!! Sounds like a bargain to me, let's hope I pass the credit check!
Neil.
I was about to ask the very same question myself. I'm somewhat annoyed that Microdirect never even bothered to apologise or correct the mistake directly when I presented this problem to them last week - their response was to simply "return the item". For a Pocket PC PDA though, it's nice and cheap so like others, I'll keep mine and buy the cheapest possible Vodafone PAYG system that I can.
Well my Vodafone contract was approved and I immediately put the SIM into my Qtek 1020 whilst leaving the bundled Nokia phone unopened. All is well, I set up GPRS etc and my handy new PDA just got handier. Now I can sell this Nokia 1101 phone as it's SIM unlocked... might get 20 quid for it or something!
Regards,
Neil.
Okay well here's another damn issue with this thing... After a couple of weeks happy usage, the SD card slot decides to spit out anything I put into it - it just won't hold a card no matter what. I didn't force the mechanism at all or insert a card too forcefully - it just popped out one day and wouldn't go back in. I've written to Microdirect requesting an RMA, they replied thinking I was requesting an RMA for an SD card so I had to correct them and let them know it's actually the card slot in the 1020 that seems to have developed a fault of some kind. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had an issue with the card slot on their wallaby, so maybe we can say they are notoriously weak or something, or perhaps I was just unlucky.
Regards,
Neil.
Update: My replacement 1020 arrived today and all is well, well done to MicroDirect.
Rgds,
Neil.

O2 SIM in a T-Mobile AMEO

Hello all.
This is my first post on this forum so forgive me for being a noob! I have searched this forum and the web, but couldn't find help for my prediciment so, here goes.
I've got an O2 3G SIM. I originally got the SIM & contract with an ORBIT2. I lost the bloody ORBIT2! No insurance
So I bought a standard T-Mobile AMEO from a geezer on ebay. Happy Days!
I had the IMEI unlocked
I ran AthenaUnlocker.exe and followed the instructions for this
I downloaded AP DUAL 3.0 ROM with add-ins
I followed the instructions to upgrade the ROM
I got O2 to unlock my SIM
All was good when I rebooted. The screen looked good, I had all 4 bars of GSM connectivity showing, and I had a G next to it. I ran the O2 software to configure the device and rebooted.
It all went tits up when I tried to make a call. Nothing, no error or anything, just wouldn't ring.
Then I tried to connect to internet and got error message;
"Answering modem disconnected" then notification;
"Problem connecting to GPRS network"
1. Is this me putting in the wrong settings?
2. Is the AMEO just incompatible with anything other than T-Mobile?
3. Is my O2 SIM not behaving?
4. Am I obsessed with numbered lists?
Hope someone can help! Any advice would be much appreciated
Not sure what you mean...
1. I had the IMEI unlocked -IMEIs are not locked - they can be blocked if the device has been stolen but then they can't be unblocked - what do you mean? How did you do this?
5. I got O2 to unlock my SIM - as per 1 above, a SIM can't be locked - what do you mean?
Did you try the SIM bedor upgrading the ROM? It should have worked as T-Mobile don't lock their phones.
Does the SI< work in any other phone?
Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I don't know the correct terminology. I've got to admit I know next to nothing about phones!
1. I got the SIM and the phone at the same time. When I put the SIM in the phone it said SimLock and had a code window to enter a code. I thought this was the SIM code, so entered this, but it kept saying 'wrong code'. I then searched the internet and found www.deblocage-htc.com. I gave them my IMEI number, they sent me the code that opened the phone up.
5. O2 sent me the SIM as a replacement for my lost SIM. They put a lock on the SIM when I reported it lost.
I wasn't aware that T-Mobile didn't lock the phone! I wouldn't have bothered to change the ROM. The ROM does look good though, so I'd be happy to keep it, if I could get it to work.
I didn't try it before I installed the AP DUAL 3.0 ROM. Wish I had now. Do you think the ROM is to blame? I've search the web for a couple of days now and not found a similar case.
I'm gonna get my wifes old orange phone unlocked to try the SIM in that.
If it said SimLock then it was locked - you didn't pay to unlock it though, did you? It sounds like a problem with the unlocker.
download the unlocker from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315831 and run all three steps and let us know if it works.
Then demand your money back from the idiots you paid...
So are you saying that i've probably bought a stolen phone? I haven't bought a stolen phone, I've got evidence to support this. I know the email address of the guy on ebay. he's had the account for a few years, paypal account etc. Although it was simlocked I could still see the files on the phone. The guy had left his CV on there with his email address etc. So it was his phone.
Anyway, yes I did pay to unlock it. Was that stupid? I used the unlocking software after I unsimlocked it!
I've got it working now anyway, it was O2 that hadn't lifted the bar on the sim.

3125 unlocking help.
Hi, I tried to sim-unlock a locked 3125 with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?p=2459703 , after that the phone gave me a ''fatal error" "data crashes" message, I had a backup of the supercid file of the phone (file made with the spv-developers supercid tool), I flashed the file back and now I don't have the "fatal Error" message, and the phone accepts other sim cards different from the cingular sim, but the phone has no signal at all, all the other stuff works fine, I appreciate any advice anybody could give me to restore the signal (service) back to the phone, or that means the phone is still locked?.
Thank you

no signal
try to flash just the radio and see if that helps.
How to??
Thanks for your reply, I don't know how to flash the radio only, would love to give it a try though, besides I am willing to provide this phone and also donate to anyone who thinks it's able to create an unlock tool for these phones.
Thank you

Sim unlock? is it still necessary?
How about using one of the new sim-card chips which you place under the sim card (you might have to cut off a small piece of the sim card plastic) and it supposedly eliminates the need for an unlock? The phones (so I have heard) word as if they were unlocked with all cards.
The chips are called x-sim or something.
If you know if it works - give some feedback
Do you have other link?
lewnetoons, thanks a lot for the link, are you able to upload the file to a different service, I don't want to install third party stuff from zango on my PC, is it safe?.

X - sim
I think the universal or tornado sim will work, however I have not used them, I'll give them a try and let you know.
X-sim, xsim turbo sim
I tested the x-sim card and it works.
Right now I have a Nokia e51 because my Startrek died on me (power connector just fell out... can you believe it!?)
I can see no reason why the CHEAP x-sim (bought my for 9 Euros with postage) should not work on other phones.
I simply cut away a piece of the card (so that the small chip on the xsim can sit there tightly - so not too big a piece) and inserted it carefully - simply no simlock, none at all, with any card I tried.
It works on 3g sim cards as well.
@dakiro
where did you buy this x sim for only 9,= euros with postage? i can't find it that cheap anywhere.
tx in advance for reply!

lol, yes
same thing happened to me
For a 3125, call ATT, give the IMEI and they will give you the unlock code in about 5 minutes, no charge, no questions. They asked if I was an ATT customer, I said no and they still gave it to me.

Just got myself a brand new Cingular 3125 off ebay. Called AT&T to ask for an unlock code, but they told me that that serial and IMEI number is not listed in their database...and I should contact the manufacturer. Did it fall of the truck before it reached AT&T???
Anyhow I have mailed HTC for an unlock code 4 days ago and still no reply

does it drain the battery more than normal?

Can a T-Mobile SIM be used in a AT&T 3125?

Can I use a T-Mobile sim card in a 3125 (star trek)? I have a nokia phone with T-Mobile but it's pretty crappy. I have a nice star trek phone that I kept from my last job because it was actually two broken star trek phones that I combined working parts (screen) to make it work. Well I would like to use this phone with my T-Mobile sim card but I do not know the unlock code.
I see there is a page called imei-check I think that will supposidly send me files to unlock it, but only after paying them $40.25 USD. The exchange rates to the UK currency are more than 2:1 right now, so I'd rather find a program to do it for free. I used to use AT&T 8525 and Siemens SX66's and it was a piece of cake to unlock them. All it was was an executable file copied to the device and then ran under the device. Why is the 3125 so hard that no one has been able to figure out how to unlock this device? I would of thought an 8525 would be harder to figure out as it's more complicated and more powerful. Google searches yield everything for CID unlocking and Application unlocking, which is not a problem as I'm running WM 6.1 firmware on this device.
So is SIM unlocking really that difficult? Why is this one of the few devices that I am struggling to find SIM unlocking programs? Is it just not a popular device? Any route I can go? Thanks for your help.
You can SIM unlock your device for a money. There is no free service.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350278
Ok actually I called AT&T and they gave me the unlock code after knowing the original phone number and IMEI number.
