Best Rom for Verizon xv6800? - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

hi, i have had the verizon xv6800 now for over 2 weeks. i have flashed this about 30 times. trying to find the best rom to cook. what do you all think is the best rom to cook i the kitchen for this phone please.
thanks

If this helps..
I'm running DCD 3.2.0 Radio 3.42.02 on my Verizon XV6800
I have no issues.. Had it since the day it was released.. (maybe 3 weeks or so?) the biggest issue I'm aware of is HTC Xbutton has a problem.. But I don’t use that. I test GPS locks regularly, and regularly lock under 10 seconds. I have one location that I can’t seem to get a lock easily (at work).. but that’s it so far.
I would recommend reading through all the posts on DCD 3.2.2 and see what issues (if any) users are having. Most of the user issues are due to the user doing something wrong, and DCD or GC will generally jump in and confirm if it's a rom issue... so read all the posts.
The only reason I haven’t upgraded to 3.2.2 is that The list of changes from 3.2.0 were not compelling enough to re-install all my applications and settings.
Here is the software I run.. and All works great under 3.2.0 (and I will go out on a limb and say it will all work on 3.2.2 most likely)
Software I have installed that works fine.
Wisbar Advance 3.1.5 (clear reflections skin)
DCD QuickGPS
Skunkworks Flash video Bundle
HTC Streaming Media
Google Maps
Palringo
SPB Mobile Phone suite (newest?)
SPB Mobile Shell 2.x (Newest?)
Resco Keyboard Pro 5.x
Resco Explorer 2008 (with Reg and FTP add-in)
dinarsoft Memmaid (newest?)
CoreCodec Coreplayer (newest?)
Vito Funcontact
HandMark Yahtzee
iNav iguidance (this has issues.. but it's common in WM6.1.. and fixable I guess)
MS Reader
Arcsoft MMS 5.0.31.19
Skype
Zimmerman Pocket hosts.

how do i get the battery icon to show up in the taskbar like it did in wm 5.0 since installing 6.1 i have yet to get it to show up

i still think 3.0.4 is the best rom

Why?
I never used that one... Why would you say it is better?

ive lightly tried some newer roms, and never liked them as much as 3.0.4, to the point that i don't even bother testing anymore. GPS locks INSTANTLY every time, the phone runs smoothly (sometimes a little low on memory), everything works perfectly. i'm just so happy with how my phone is running that i dont have any desire to change. GPS is kinda my main priority, and i'm blown away by how well it works. so im set =) i was actually thinking today about picking up another 6800 just so i could test new roms, though.

Anyone here who stick with WM2005?

Anyone here who stick and use WM2005 and no any plan of reverting it back to 2003se? i need your opinion why do you want stick with 2005 instead of se.
Becouse some of you dont have problems running 2005 some have and i have.
Well its my first ever post on here tho ive bben lurking for a year or so.ive done all the upgrades over the last year for the XDAII and i got to say the recent WM2005 O2 version found on here is perfect.
however like all new os'S there is alway going to be something that wont work correct.but this version of WM2005 is very good, for the first time ive got MSN,OUTLOOK EMAIL,O2 EMAIL,SMS,MMS all fully working without any glitches through my mobile phone isp O2-UK.
I had patiently waited for someone to crack the RAM problem and now they have id say go for it.
one tip put the HimaClearJumpCode file from a previous rom in the same directory b4 upgrading it saves having to configure it to in bootloader screen.basically just click your mouse and following the onscreen instructions!.

I am currently using Wm2003se2.2.0.7WWE I think it is, but since it was translated from Chinese, there are a few bits that don't look right, but other than that, it's fast, supports handsfree, and is the most stable 2003se ROM I have tried out of about 3 so far.
I am very tempted to try 2005, I even downloaded it yesterday in case I feel adventurous later.
I have AS4 running on my PC already, and although avantgo doesn't work, it seems much faster.
But since you are so happy with it on a UK network, I may well give it a try later on today after some meetings are out of the way, and I have some time to kill.
I installed WM5.0 a week ago and I already know that I won't be looking back to old OSes.
It's simply the best ever (I've been using Pocket PC since 2000) so I know what I'm talking about.
I can live with the few incompatibility problems I have encountered because I know they will be fixed soon by the talented people of XDA-Developers.com. They always do.
At first I installed WM5.0 to "test it" and to see what was all the "Buzz" about... (got that? hehehe)
But since that day, I noticed how quickly Buzz, Toe, JoJo and the gang fixes the "problems" so I more o less feel complete.
The overall performance of the PDA and the Phone is impresive!
The only thing I miss from previous versions is the Video Capture quality. This one simply sucks, but I'm confident that the gang will fix this soon!
P.S.- Again, I would like to thank Buzz, Toe, JoJo, mamiach and the rest of talented people for this marvelous release!
Best regards,
Rayan
OK, so far, I love it, but there are a couple of things that are proving to be a pain for me.
1) I can't install TomTom 3, need to find some GPS software that will work by the end of this week if I am going to keep 2005 on this device.
2) I don't know if my Socket BT GPS works because I have no GPS software to test it with.
Anyone got any suggestions for UK GOS software that works?
I'm sticking with WM2005
Since I installed it I have noticed the following benifits:
Performance is noticeably improved over any 2003/2003se roms I've run.
The anoying tendency to have both the BlueTooth Headset and the built-in speaker/microphone live during a call has been resolved.
My Frogpad BT keyboard is also natively supported. Overall a great experience!
The only problem I have encountered is the tendency of the MSN messenger piece to behave oddly. It'll sign on, get presence information for people, then when I try to start a conversation it will give me the conversation screen then take about 60 seconds while it claims it is 'connecting' In addition on occasion it will come back and state that a IM could not be delivered, but if I copy and paste it back in it works. It also has decided to put my e-mail attachments on the NAND partition rather than the SD partition.
I brought these issues up with my Microsoft TAM yesterday and he laughed.... Perhaps I should not have phrased it as 'Do you think it would be OK for me to open a ticket for my non-release beta copy of WM2005 that I got over the internet?'

OK, I love this, and I would really like to keep it, but, my Stowaway XT keyboard doesn't want to work either. I know it's only a driver issue, but it's still an issue for me.
I haven't even tried the VGA backpack yet :/
after all the xda is working for my every-day needs i will stay with buzzmobile 2005
I have used the wm2005, but the big thing that bothers me is that xbackup and spb pocketplus doesn't work. (battery indicator bar at the top, I love it! I first though it was some kind of bug, but now I never want any other battery level indicator.
For tomtom3 i'm using tomtom 4.40 now (works also with wm2005).
But there is nothing more worse then a sudden hard reset, and you can't restore any contacts because xbackup doesnt work.
Also I tried almost all of the roms here, and in my opinion the diamondrom 1.2 is the best complete and stable rom around here.
As long as xbackup isnt fixed on wm2005 i can't use it. Don't want to install all kinds of backup and restore programs. After a hard reset start xbackup and make a call.

What are you talking about?
Isn't persistant memory one of Windows Mobile 5.0 main features?
I have performed a couple of Hard Resets on purpose just to see if the whole system survives and let me tell you that it works flawlessly.
I can live without Sprite Backup for the time being!!!....
I successfully upgraded to WM2005 but am unable to get the hardreset to work (the key sequence I am using is power button + record button + camera button + soft reset hole, all at the same time). I have verified that each of these buttons works individually. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
Also, when my xda is off, there is sometimes a pattern of faint black vertical lines on the screen which disappear when its turned on. I hadn't seen them before I upgraded to 2005.
Any help would be appreciated!
re WM2005
I found the hard reset combination quite tricky to do, took me a few tries to do it. Just hold the camera and record buttons very firmly, press the the power button and also stick the stylus in the reset hole. Keep holding the buttons for 3 seconds after you've felt the stylus nudge the reset button.
I'm using WM2005 and have found ActiveSync using GPRS to be a little less reliable than before. I have had to soft-reset 2x in the last 24hours to get GPRS working. It simply fails to connect when requested and says cannot find www.vodafone.net.nz (the APN for Vodafone NZ). When I reset it works beautifully.
Also it seems to me to be slightly slower than 2003SE. I don't know if it's the extra animations making it *appear* slower but it does feel less reponsive. Particularly opening messages and moving them. I was using 2003SE 2.06 and then 2.20-translated prior.
However, the extra ease of use that 2005 gives makes up for this by being more productive with the time I do spend on the device.
SPB Pocket Plus definitely does not work as I'd like it to and I miss the battery meter on the top bar, plus the multiple IE windows. The IE browser is much better on 2005 though and is quicker overall.
It works great with my Bluetrek G2 headset, no change in audio quality over 2003SE.
The Pocket MSN integration with Hotmail, MSN etc is amazing and very well done. If you use Hotmail and/or MSN Messenger a lot you'll love 2005.
I'm just doing some testing to see if Intellipad is losing my predictive text words. It seems like every time I soft-reset the words I manually added disappear
Intellidialer is a big loss too which I really miss. Can't wait for the 2005 port.
All in all, a good OS and major improvements, but yep a little buggy still. I'd recommend it if you don't mind soft resetting often and living with a few quirks, for the sake of improved useability and a better (in most places) interface.
My record + camera buttons don't work either in 2005 btw.
re WM2005
Forgot to mention -- RemotelyAnywhere doesn't work with Remote control either.
The ActiveX control that is designed for PocketPCs only works on PPC2002 or 2003, not 2005.
If you need to remotely control a PC or server then you will be stuck.

Been using Buz-an-Co mobile 2005 for a while now, absolutely no intention of removing at all. Fair enough somethings dont work, but on the whole, its more stable, i find it faster, BT works the way its ment to, and it looks just so cool! i sync my contacts in outlook and store all my data on the Rom OR SD-Card so i'll never actualy lose anything of importance..... AND and by far the most important reason......I can give me mates with the XDA IIi the two fingers! ahh u may have wifi but u cant get 2005 working!! )
My only serious gripe is MSN messanger not working (fixed by using Agile messanger) and Tomtom 3's total refusal to install. (on that note i was able to start the install process and just before it crashes find the cab files in a temp directory and install them manually, it installed but when you run it, it comes up with "voice files not installed, blar blar" then the program runs for a second before crashing to desktop.)

Agile messenger works a treat on WM2005, and you can connect to MSN, AOL, ICQ etc...
Apparently WM2005 is smartphone compatible, so you could try TomTom mobile, I've heard it works, but the touch-screen doesn't (as it's built for phones). Haven't tried it myself though.
I will also not go back to 2003SE.
I'm using the full version since Saturday and I have no issues at all. All my buttons work. OK, once in a while the XDA freezes and I need a softreset, but that's more likely from the applications I installed which are maybe not 100% Magneto compatible. Also, I'm still trying to get the USB syncing to work. So far I sync via bluetooth.
I love that Contacts syncs the picture from Outlook on the PC. Much better than all the picture-caller ID software.
But really best of all: I don't have to be scared of hardresets anymore and I can use the XDAII until the battery is down.
I was thinking about buying the Mini or maybe the XDA IV when it comes out later this year. But I have decided to continue using my XDAII since it is just great with Magneto.
Cheers
Pat
I am interested to see why people think that they don't have to be scared of hard resets?
The Himalaya does *not* support persistant storage, unless you choose to save something to the flash rom, or SD card, you *will* lose it after a hard reset.
The OS does not give you the safety of the new features, that's still a hardware issue, so don't think you have persistant storage because the OS supports it.
WM2005
Hi,
I have installed WM2005 and fall back to WM2003SE twice.
1st: the chinese software CEstar cause the touch screen to hang (no respond) when I install it. Reinstall the WM2005 still face the same problem, so 1st fall back to WM2003SE.
2nd: After installing the WM2005, my Spectec SDIO wifi don't seem to be able to have the transmitter on. Able to see network available but cannot connect. Tried reinstall the driver but no result. Waiting for Spectec to reply regards to the driver. So 2nd fall back to WM2003SE.
Ric
but it does support a form of persistant storage as in permenent save / storage on the old roms
not really enough though.......
and if the persistant storage of newer devices save the data in flash then could it not be troublesome in the long run since flash have a limited times you can write on it before it goes belly up
much like a cd-rw or dvd-rw disc

WM5 's not better than 2003SE(for me) :(

Reasons:
1. Unable to connect ActiveSync even I am using AS 4.0.0
2. No Auto-Installation after hard-reset
3. Storage not accessible
4. Extended_ROM also not available even the ExtROM is unhided(for manual installation that software which should be auto-installed)
4. Camera settings and interface is not so good as the old version
5. Unable to restore backuped contacts from Storage
6. The main applications I am using was not better(such as Excel,Word, etc.)
7. Many other details(that I forget already)that let me thing about downgrade...
...downgrade to 2k3se v2.06 completed.
It's a big shame that it doesn't work as I have imagined.
Your opinion...?
I've used Buzz' version h for a while, and decided to switch back to WM2003 1.72 from O2 UK.
Mostly similar issues that you've experienced although I got AS4 working; camera / video no good, 2-soft-button format drives me crazy (somehow more taps required), I heard that AvantGo worked, but I always failed to do so. I also missed the persistent storage after hardreset. I also prefered xbackup, which couldn't work, rather than sunnysoft.
I didn't like 1.75 either, so I'm content with 1.72; it works best for me.
Just 1 question
The v1.72/v1.75 are 2003SE? Or 2003 simply? The v2.06 I am using is quite lazy/slow and therefore I am thinking about one more step to downgrade.
1.72 and 1.75 are not SE
Tomas, you really should have known about those problems before installation. It would have saved you a lot of fuking around .
As most of those problems you mentioned being fixable, I find even 1.50f to be very stable. I use my device in a busy office environment for mostly productivity tasks ie- outlook/contacts,w0rd, bt & wifi with no problems whatsoever. In my opinion BUZZMobile2005 rocks.
Im sure if you persist a little more and look past the small negatives you will find bm2005 better than all previous roms combined.
anways, cheers.

Yes. Anyone is able to adjust himself to anything. I will just wait for a while until these problems will be fixed(or until some solution will appeared). Yes I know that the new version should be much better than the old one but WM5 is at this time with all of this bugs nothing for me. As I wrote:It's a shame.

SPB Pocket Plus Problem

I'm running the DCD WM6.1 ROM for my Mogul along with SPB Pocket Plus 4.0.2.
I've noticed that often the device hangs after a reboot while loading the plugins if I have Pocket Plus enabled.
However, if I use the SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 plugin, which allows you to embed today plugins into tabs but not shortcuts and embed the Pocket Plus plugin into the Mobile Shell plugin, it works fine. (Sorry that sentence seems a little confusing.)
Anyone else have problems with Pocket Plus? Do you have any work arounds? I read something about applications all starting at the same time can result in problems but I couldn't find a way to delay the startup of a Today plugin...
I'd just use Mobile Shell but you can't put shortcuts into it's tabs other than "Home."
I have WM 6.1 & Pocket Plus 4.0.2 as well & run it with no problems. I integrate a lot of the Mobile Shell plugins into the Pocket plus tabs with no problems. DO you have the same problem when you run Pocket plus with the default tabs, i.e., no extra plugins running?
no problems
I have no problems with PP. Is it installed on the phone not the card?
I as well have the 6.1 + Pocket Plus 4.0.2, and I have had problems. Something is just not right. Usually, after a soft reset, it does hang. Takes just about 5 resets till it comes back. But, fortunate for me, I play around with a lot of different programs and have found these facts: 1) If Pocket Plus 4.0.2 is installed on the today screen, it would therefore be in the start up folder. And this is where the problem is. 2) But, if it is installed into another program that plays well with startup then, Pocket Plus is not the initial startup program and all works! So, as stated, SPB Mobile Shell is an excellent fix. But, I personally use Ultimate Launch. That program is the $*it! If your not willing or don't want neither programs this, I'm afraid will always happen. Maybe it's something with the rom or perhaps, Pocket Plus but, never the less it's there but, can be avoided.
yeah, i have the same issue, it keeps part of the green wm6.1 spash and the pp plugin is non responsive, if i let it sit it will lock up the entire device, if i hit the start menu key and launch something from there liek file explorer then close it right away its fine
In startup not the problem
I have alsways have Pocket plus in my startup. It is the core of my Home screen. It loads with no problems at all. There must be something else interfering as that is not the problem.

I am running 6.1 Professional.
With which kitchen did you compile your 6.1 rom?
Hmmm... I have personally had this problem since gettin the DCD 6.1 kitchen with Pocket Plus. And so have many others. I can not possibly see how your not having the same exact issue unless you are cooking in a different kitchen or someone else compiled the rom (using a different kitchen).

Flashed mine a while ago, but I am fairly sure that it was Randomize. It is called Storm 2.1

Rom Update ???

Well I finally have my new device and it looks like i might have a little time this weekend to make an update and fix some minor bugs in my rom. please post suggestions here. All suggestions need to be in my friday midnight EST. thanks
How about making these changes to your last ROM?
- 16mb page pool to see if it goes a little faster.
- Do not auto download the quick gps data during the setting phase, since the device does not have time and data connection yet at that phase.
- update the large menu text cab so that it works. I had to look for the cab elsewhere last time.'
- Focus on speed.
- Keep it ultra vanilla. This is your number one selling point for me. I don't want all third party application to be chosen by myself and not seeing duplicated application/old versions/unused application.
- Make sure it is spl1.2. Do not want to lose memory for useless applications.
- If you intent to use newer built (Are you thinking of Touch Pro?), make sure it still supports Gsen application, and has random access for contact application. I personally love these two features.
- Make sure it has no htc touchflo or Ftouchflo. Have Ftouchflosl trial version if you wish. Else leave it for user to decide.
- Again, leaveb out realVGA. Some of us don't use it anymore.
- Continue to leave out HTC Home, and have just one theme. HTC Home They are all add ons.
- An important bug to fix is its inabikity to delete POP3 mails. Currently I can only delete non-POP3 mail, but for my pop3 mail, I'm forced to sign into the web-mail to delete them to prevent mail-box overflow. This is a pain.
Frankly, I'm still so happy with your last ROM, although I feel the speed could be further improved. So if there is only one change, let there be just speed improvement.
Thanks irus. I look forward to your fantastic ROM.
I'm now using Michy's rom whose main merits are speed and stability, but I like your Gsen function very much. I hope you can integrate the above-mentioned features in your new rom.
I would suggest no changing from your latest rom which I think is perfect, only bugfixes.
Changing could be for a newer release while I think your last one deserves just a trimming to be a reference rom. (I can't download full messages from the mail program???)
I would say fix the known bugs, increase speed if possible. After releasing that version, you can spend sometime looking at other possibilities (lite version, other builds or base, new features, etc...).
The lite / vanilla builds never actually worked in the long run for me because it always seemed something was missing which caused other applications not to work properly. They always seemed fast and potentially stable for a few weeks. After installing my apps and heavy usage, it always seemed to have gone down hill. Nonetheless, a lot PPL here love them.
It is also very important that auto rotate, gsen, and other features continue to work because I believe a lot of PPL stuck with this base because that stuff work well with on this ROM.
I never tried your rom mainly because I had the impression it was missing MMS. I know it is fairly easy to install myself, but I hadn't time to look for a proper version.
If your rom contains MMS, then forget about this post
Yes! also mms. I would consider the missing of it nearly a bug to be fixed as it is a standard feature of the athena missing... It is true that most of us don't use mms, but just in case...
ok these are all good suggestions, i will keep them in mind
I currently use your FULL ROM/3.5 and find it to be excellent. I hope you will NOT include any real VGA additions. Every one of them I have tried so far causes display problems with my "must use" apps.
Thanks for all your hard work.
I've tested All Athena ROM available.
I am using now the Sogarth base, isn't the fastest, isn't the most complete, but it is stable, has gsensor, big htc home, audio player doesn't stop working in suspend mode, index bar in contacts, battery life is great WITH BT enabled and some diamond enhancements.
The probem is ... it has to be tweaked
.net35 AND net2.0 to have compatibility with older and newest applications (modaco netcf config), some registry tweaks to improve the speed , michy's sound enhancement are much better, athena sensor service has to be stopped, IMHO are needed:
1) a newest remote desktop,
2) wifirouter (ori ICS control) ,
3) schaps advanced config ,
4) moblue,
5) total commander,
6) irus fsplayer,
7) pocketrar,
8) omnia d3d drivers,
9) Gsen,
10) wkTask (HTC Xbutton removed),
11) cyberon voice dial
12) I need mms too
I don't need realvga, the applications I like could use VGA resolution without realvga! Last, but not least, having and athena ROM CLOSER to diamond ROM should be easy to have compatibility with diamond and raphael applications (the most "developed" HTC model)
I strongly suggest a newest Sogarth, not "Extreme" but improved one (SPL 3.5). and "Extreme Sogarth" lite SPL 1.2 and 3.5 tweaked for maximum speed

I think that app is good but only if you have the loop problem as all my roms are uc compliant, which is the same thing just launches from the sd card not ext rom.
my 2cents: irus in your knew rom maybe you can focus on a new build and speed speed speed.

[App]HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing[21/07/2009]

HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing
Thanks To Tom_Codon For Sharing the Package from his New Tom Topaz Rom.
I resized and compressed The Graphics for VGA and Compressed The Exe File.
So this looks to be Working Without any Dependencies, Please Give feedback so others know where it is or isn't working.
I know people want this, so Getting it out there was Prime Directive. (Not sitting on something that will be out in a month or two, keeping it just for myself in roms i cook, sharing it)
Share Your Internet Connection As A Wifi HotSpot, Thank you HTC for looking at what users want.
Download
It is adviced to install this with the Topaz CommManager as its an add on to a newer version.Does Not have a Shortcut in Programs because it has a Control Panel >> Connections entry!
QVGA Version By wapvirus + HTC Sroll
Some Q & AFound in the Thread
Temp Placeholder Q & A
Q: In running the app there's a possible resizing issue since you can't flick or otherwise use the DPad to go down. Regardless, you can still connect but my PC and another phone did not find the network that was supposed to be available when shared.
A: Don't Flick scroll Just press hold ad the heig of hwere your Provider connecction is mentioned and scroll a little bit up to get the rest of the menu.
A: If your using another phone to connect, you can find the Connection in the regular Wifi connection screen under "Computer to Computer" Connections.
Q: There is no Shortcut in Programs.
A: Initially the App can by found under Start Menu >> Control Panel >> Connections.
Q: Do we need to turn on the wifi in the device where the program is running?
A: The app starts the Wifi by itself.
Q: My PC or Laptop is not seeing the SSID.
A: For the people having trouble seeing the network, make sure your pc displays adhoc connections and not just access points.
Q: I have no menubuttons on a HTC TP2 (german stock ROM). Any ideas?
A: This app has a 0409.mui so it either needs that Mui translated to 0407 or a translated version, for now it's just English.
Q: Wil this work on a QWVGA, QVGA or Non HTC Device.
A: There have been some confirms and spotted ports to Samsungs, so it is possible to make these versions
Q: I cannot scroll in any way?
A: It might be your rom is missing HTC Scroll package cooked in.
Beta Cab attached to Try, (since i can't right now ATM)
It places both Shortcut in Control Panel and in Programs.
Starting from Programs is regular
Starting from Control panel, will keep backlight on during use of app.

Do not link directly to this as it's just a test version.
OK guys, I’ve collected all reports with links to the original reports. I only collected error reports of not being able to see the ad-hoc network created by the phone, NOT problems resulting from the lack of HTC Scroll.
PLEASE, when you do report FAILURE, try making sure alternative solutions all explained in my dedicated article (http://www.smartphonemag.com/cms/blog/9/the-multiplatform-bible-using-your-handset-a-modem ) (ICSControl, WalkingHotSpot or WMWifiRouter work. If they don’t, try installing kliptik’s ICS CAB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4178146&postcount=122 and re-test all the apps. It’s only when they do work but HTC’s app doesn’t that you should send a failure report. Also, Omnia users will want to try the CAB at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4187489&postcount=186 . (The latter can only be installed on genuine Omnias and nothing else, it seems.) Of the three, I recommend the WMWifiRouter trial (at http://global.wmwifirouter.com/trial/ ) as it’s much easier to use / configure than ICSControl and WalkingHotSpot doesn’t have a trial.)
If you report SUCCESS, make sure you do try the internet connection before doing so. Simply being able to install and start the app isn’t sufficient – you’ll also need to see (and connect to) the ad-hoc network it creates.
Also, please clearly state in all your success / failure posts the phone model and the ROM version you use. If you use a cooked (and not stock) ROM, make sure you also list the name / version of the cooked ROM. Thanks!

There has been some posts in this thread, other threads and on other sites that got me a bit worried.
Especially a few comparisons between this HTC solution and Chainfire’s WMWifiRouter solution.
CM internet sharing is a very simple solution that we have little to no control over. It’s nice to see that HTC is forced to innovate because of good ideas from developers. After letting users wait years for just such a solution, that should have been added a long time ago. And because it wasn’t added, a developer fills in the gap and makes the solution.
Looking at the response to Wifi sharing, it can be said that this is a much wanted and needed feature.
That said it is only logical that it has a market value.
Especially if it has more and better configuration options for some one that will actually NEED a solution like this.
XDA is not about getting everything for free, it is about understanding how things work and make them better and get them working on older devices.
And though not everyone might know this, but Chainfire is just the kind of developer that fills in the gaps that HTC refuses to fill, from working on Graphics drivers to releasing/opening GPS ports quicker and that nicely ported and Skinned Manila interface with CFC compression your probably looking at every day.
Yes getting stuff out there, that isn’t supposed to be out there, can be fun, unless it creates a reason for people to start vent their opinions in unfashionable manners.
So if you really like Wifi Sharing and believe it is something you really need, maybe it would be good to consider Actually buying a solution that can be configured. (personally i don't need Wifi Sharing but i do need a good alarm so i don't mind couching up some money for that)
And if you just want to try out the HTC version, then have fun with it.
But don’t go *****in on someone’s hard work, or we will all find ourselves on a very boring XDA when there’s no one left to fill up the gaps HTC leaves behind.
I consider my enthusiasm to get CM internet Sharing out there a Fail towards someone I find has made more important contributions then mine to this forum, for that I am sorry.

Very cool, thanks for the post!
It installs fine and the initial screens are proper. In running the app there's a possible resizing issue since you can't flick or otherwise use the DPad to go down. Regardless, you can still connect but my PC and another phone did not find the network that was supposed to be available when shared. Any ideas? I'd love for this to work I can upload pics if needed.
Wow! Wouldn't have thought something like this would come from HTC. Very cool!
thank you. such a small file
Very cool! Just make a shortcut from the Windows file on the device and you are good to go. Works very well.
i downloaded the cab and put it on my TP. Installed the cab and then nothing. I tried to find it under "programs" and i couldn't find it. I tried installing it on the device and the storage card without any luck. what am i doing wrong? any and all help is appreciated. thanks!
it's in settings - connections
here, i have edited the cab to install a shortcut into the programs directory
Nice app
WMWiFiRouter I'm sure is concerned with this app since it will cut into its $29 application.
I installed it and created a shortcut with no problem
It starts and I input the info (SID and KEY) into my Wifi laptop but my laptop can't find it.
I'm using ATT FUZE
Do we need to turn on the wifi in the device where the program is running?
I have a Touch Pro CDMA version on Sprint. Installed cab, soft reset, went to start-programs-settings-connections tab-wifi internet sharing and started. The display is fine. It would seem you could scroll down but I can't. The main problem is that it never connects. Next to the SSID it should have a green colored bullet point to indicate I'm now sharing the connection, however it just spins. Removing the program, installing the Internet Sharing fix, and reinstalling the program has no effect. It doesn't broadcast the conenction and it won't allow me to choose a different DUN besides "Sprint." Still using WMWifiRouter 0.91 for now. However, I really hope someone can get this working for Sprint CDMA WinMo phones.

Ditto here....i turned on the app on my phone, as well as wifi, but my laptop doesn't recognize it...
does anyone know what i am doing wrong? thanks in advance for the help
By the way, turning on your data conenction and Wi-Fi similarily before you "start" the router have no effect either way. It would seem this is designed to work without any dependencies.
which devices
thanks for sharing
does it work with all winmo devices ?
which os supported ? 5/6/6.1/6.5 ?
