Mogul Acting Strangely - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

So my mogul has been acting awfully weird the past couple of weeks. When it enters standby mode it won't come out of it. I have to soft reset it. But, instead of booting straight up, the HTC screen flashes for half a second and then it shuts off. If I leave it alone, a couple minutes later the phone starts to try to boot up again and succeeds. Any ideas?

Are you running the stock rom or a cooked one? What version are you running?

[Q] HD2 Screen Defect

Long time lurker, first time poster. First, let me thank all the devs and countless others for all of the support. OK, so i've had the U.S. TMO HD2 since around launch time, and its performed like a champ until about 2 days ago. The touchscreen stopped responding all together. At the time I was running:
ChuckyDroidRom w/ shubCRAFT 1.5 (8/30 build I believe)
2.12.50.02_2 Radio
HSPL 2
Had been running android for the last 2 weeks. Screen Stopped responding in both WinMo and Android. I scrapped android, and tried a few different WinMo roms. Switched back to stock rom+radio and now with constant soft and hard resets, I can get it to work for like 5 minutes every few hours.
The only relevant threads I found dealt with individuals who encountered problems after opening the housing. Also I read that flashing the stock rom via SD brought the phone back to a repairable status if I were to send it in. I tried, extracting and renaming the signed .nbh from a stock rom, then holding vol down while powering up. I get to the boot menu and a white screen flashes briefly, and then it just reverts back to the red/green/blue/white screen. Also reformatted card countless times.
Long read, but thanks in advance. Can the screen be fixed? If not, how can I get my HD2 repair ready?
almost same prob
similair situation to yours except im running MDJs cm7 gingerbread 2.6 NAND android rom right now. my screen started doing that back when i had 2.0 of the rom yet it persists after updating. my screen will let me keep going for any length of time unless i hit standby button. that puts me in a 50/50 of the screen tanking on the lockscreen. sometimes it works after i try again. however, every single time i hold the standby button to say reboot that seems to just turn my touchscreen function off flat out. battery comes out to fix that so basically i have to pull my battery to shut it off. it hasnt stopped working in the middle of anything only whem the standby/power button gets touched. this hd2 has never fallen down either so not an oops i dropped it but it didnt crack moment lol

Major issue, phone turning off, please help

hey guys
had an issue today, traded a desire for a HD2 as i really wanted to go back to winmo (crazy most people will think)
Now when i revieved the phone i turned it on everything seemed fine for about 20 mins (note i never used the phone apart from make a call to test)
by the time i had left after a good chat, i checked the phone back at work at it was turned off, i plugged in the charger, the little notification came on and i left it to charge, an hour later after a meeting i turned on the phone, it booted into windows and then after loading sense it crashed and restarted then got stuck on the splash screen
numerous battery pulls and the same issues, gets into windows doesnt load sense, freezes and blank screen, when i battery pull and turn on 90% stuck on the splash screen
installed a rom from the memory card (stock) worked for 10 minutes same issue
any ideas?
do you reckon iv been given a knackered phone?
anyone? iv managed to get it to boot, but after around 10 minutes, it just turns itself back on, pauses at the htc screen, then reboots again and gets into windows, then 10 minutes later does the same, i flashed to the most recent wwe firmware from htc, after it managed to stay on long enough to sync to the pc
im stumped

Check the three little 'fingers' connecting to the battery.

Had similar issue with my phone, random reboots after phone was working for a bit, stuck on bootscreen without displaying radio, partitions etc.
Called HTC, was a hardware issue obviously, the sent me a new replacement phon (warranty).
if you have HSPL
1. Task 29
2. when stuck in blank screen - pull battery out
3. bootloader
4. connect back to pc via usb
5. flash any stock ROM (not the latest 3.14 as it will change your HSPL)

HTC EVO LTE reboots continuosly, display dark

Weird experience today..used my phone at lunch, no issues. Went to to use it this afternoon and it would not wake up. I held the power button down for about 10-15 seconds, then it vibrated like it was rebooting. That's when it started to vibrate every 10-15 seconds, similar to a boot loop, but the display is dark. I'm unable to get it to boot into hboot, or recovery. When plugged in, the charging indicator does not illuminate. I think it's bricked. I'm running s-off, and MeanBean. This is the first time I've ever experienced an issue like this with any of my android phones.
I hope that once the battery dies, I can charge it and hope that it boots into hboot, or recovery.
Any suggestions?
Damn. Seeing a lot of posts like this lately. Making me nervous
Sorry, wish I knew what to tell you.

This has happened to me. It is in what I believe diag mode or something. I kept holding the power and volume to get in recovery, which it did go to, and I wiped all caches, and re flashed the rom, and all was good! Hope that helps.
I dropped my phone off at a Sprint Service Center today...they tried everything to restore it, or get it to boot for that matter. It's dead, replacement phone on the way.
I had the same thing happen to my phone and came across this thread while looking for a solution. I also ended up having to get it replaced. Fortunately I did a full back-up three days prior to it crapping out so I didn't loose much.

Phone broken - eternal loop of HTC/Windows Phone screen - any fixes?

My phone was working fine earlier, sent a text off, went to write another one, pressed the search button by accident and then the screen froze, wouldnt respond to any touch at all. Tried turning the screen on and off for a bit, volume was still working etc, in the end pulled the battery. Phone restarted, managed to get it to the normal lock screen (where it had my alarm/activities for the day displayed) but again, unresponsive to touch. Pulled again a few times and the same thing happened so I decided to leave it, figured maybe the heat/humidity here (on holiday in India) had wreaked havoc with some component.
Anyways, restarted again 30 minutes later and this time couldn't get past the windows phone screen -as soon as that loaded, it reset the phone and got stuck in a neverending loop. Held up and down together and got to the screen I think is called SPL (never bothered with any of the rooting stuff)
However, the TOUCH simply says "TOUCH NONE". So obviously theres a problem there. Everything else is the same.
I tried disabling/enabling the HTC log/modem bridge but that didn't help and did a reboot and factory reset a few times but that didn't help either. Now Ive got the device hooked up to my laptop, changed from serial to USB but I don't know what (if anything) I can do in this state?
I tried earlier holding down to put it into zune mode, it completed restoring the version but then as the zune software restarted the phone, it went back into the endless cycle - the zune software was still waiting for it to reconnect again to complete the process, but obviously I couldn't get it that far.

Hold down the volume up and volume down at the same time while hitting the power once you see the white screen you can let go of the power; in green lettering you're going to see the SPL, for most of us its 2.05.160023. This is the bootloader screen, everything there is done by the volume toggle, no touch screen here. Your phone is stock which means you won't be flashing like we customized folks do so let's start with the SPL, what is it and by some chance is it HSPL'd?

berrywr, TOUCH NONE on SPL screen means either corrupted touch driver or dead touch screen.

Stuck at Splash Screen

Hi,
I have a Sprint 4G LTE rooted with VIPER rom installed. Last night my phone freaked out, so I did the 10 second "battery pull" and it started up again. I plugged it into the charger and I fell asleep without much worry.
I woke up to find my phone stuck at the LTE splash screen of the VIPER rom. I've done the 10 second "battery pull" several times, and it doesn't just shut the phone off, it forces a reboot. Each time it only makes it as far as the LTE splash screen.
My experience with phones and computers is telling me that the OS might have gotten corrupt some how since it is stuck at the splash screen.
I do have access to the bootloader, so I have some paths I can go down, factory reset/recovery, but both those I'd like to avoid so that I do not lost the contents of my storage.
I have had VIPER rom installed for a good half year, so this issue isn't due to a new rom being flashed.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
-billypilgrim
When data gets corrupted, all you can do is wipe and start over. I had to do that once when running Viper as well.
Just a thought in trying to be helpful....
I used that ROM for a while myself and never really had any issues but have had a similar situation.
I pulled my sd card out and backed it all up. Replaced SD card.
Then went into recovery and reflashed the ROM.
Worked solid after that and no explanation as to why it was corrupt/hanging in a loop.
Hope this helps..

I have that happen several times. Nothing obvious that causes it. Cap'n is right need to wipe and re-flash. Here's the small trick since it just keeps rebooting on you, after you hold power for ten seconds and the screen blacks out. Make sure the capacitive buttons go out as well, that split second they go dark let go of the power button and press vol down and power to get it back into bootloader. Then you can get back in recovery to flash.
