unlock before flashing. problems? - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

Hi,
I want to unlock my Nike (so I can use it in more countries), but one day I want to install hard spl and install another ROM. There's any problem or I have to do this first and then I unlock the device?

If you want to find the answers to your questions go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=404

I've done a lot of seach, and I really do not find an answer to my question..

Or you don't know how to read or you don't know how to search.
The first step of the Supercid and Security Unlock is:
Instructions
============
1. Make sure you installed HardSPL 1.15 MFG If you did not install 1.15 yet follow instructions (...)

Upgrading ROM without Upgrading Radio/SPL

Hi,
I want to upgrade my rom version but I don't want to lose my radio version (1.27.00.00) and my SPL (1.04) since both of them is the best one that are available right now. Any ideas on how to update the rom without updating the radio and bootloader? Thanks.
sure, if you could spend 2 mins of your precious time to search and read you could do what you want and more.

OK. From reading the wikis and the sticky posts it seems that I need to download and flash the 1.01 MFG to my device, then select whatever roms upgrade that I wanted, extract the OS only and flash it to my device. Is this correct?

Hi Mate,
Hope you don't mind the PM, but I just got my MDA Vario II replaced under warranty and have to start all over again with the customization.
I saw you had the same device and a great setup, and wondered if you could tell me the quickest/ best way to get WM6 and the ROM/Radio on mine please?
Any help would be great, thanks,
Andy

Hi!..
If you dont know some things, read WIKI, it helps (most of the time to get an answer)
First you upgrade your SPL

I dont got my warranty anymore because I made my phone simlock-free. *if you do this, READ that topic carefully!! *I just did it because I thought it was fun to mess arround with my phone..*and to tell you the truth..it was!
After that, you do this:
Ok..this is what I did, I installed this version of WM6 (for you notice; doing this is on your own risk.)
Then I upgraded my Radio to 1.41.00.10 (if you wanna know what that is, go Wiki)
Here you can find some great programs.
owyeah..here you can find the latest version of windows Live Messenger!
Hope you will learn something of all of this
cheers!

True Thq..I'd forget to note that

Noob, just a few questions...

Well before posting I have been reading the Wiki and looking on this site. Just wanna make sure that I have it correct.
Im planning to use a Cingular 8525 on TMobile.
So first I would have to use the v3a unlocker.
Then it would be wise to make sure I have the latest and greatest radio flash for reception.
Then I can pretty much throw any ROM from any provider or source on the device that I want.
If I am missing something please let me know, Im still reading and learning.
Thanks.
Welcome aboard Vasichko. Yeah, that's about the gist of it.
I'd recommend the 1.48 radio. But the quality can depend on your geographic location, so you may need to try a few different radio builds to see what works best for you.
But, all in all, you have the basics down. Just follow all the instructions with each step you take, and you'll do great.

Before you flash anything I'd recommend to flash Hard-SPL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
Here are some excellent instructions:

Im in Dallas, TX, usually dont have any issues with reception with TMobile.
Now if I do the HardSPL, should I do that first before attempting to unlock the SIM and CID?
Or, will the HardSPL unlock the SIM and CID for me?

No,first step is to unlock it. You had that right. Use pof's v3a unlocker for that.
Second, HardSPL
Third, flash whatever ROM suits your mood for the day.
Thanks for the help guys. Did alot of reading and didnt know if I was going to have to wear a flame retardant suit when posting this.

So is the HardSPL just a modified bootloader? Just from reading it this is what I am assuming.

Essentially, yes, it is a modifiied bootloader. There are several versions (I have 3 myself that I keep on DVD). Like was said earlier, use the MR VANX guide.
I had the 8525 and switched to both the Softbank x01HT version and the Nokia N95.
Any benefit of having the Softbank over the 8525 aside from the camera on the front?

Softbank is very very very durable (the 8525 I used to have was broken after 1 drop from hip level); this phone has dropped 4 times on pavement and other than a few scratches, works and looks great.

Do you have to do anything before flashing a ROM if you use HardSPL?

I've read a whole bunch and can't figure this out:
If I use HardSPL, do I need to do anything else before flashing the ROM?
There are the posts by vippie and Dr Puttingham that show how to do it that way, but neither say anything about HardSPL.
So is HardSPL something new that means you don't have to go through the CID unlocking as explained in the above guides? You just flash HardSPL then the ROM? Or do you have to follow the guides as above and then flash the ROM? Or do you have to do the above AND use HardSPL?
I have a G3 jasjam/htc tytn that has never been modified/flashed.
Thanks heaps in advance!

You do not need to CID unlock to update with a new ROM, if you use HardSPL (which is highly recommended). You can just do the HardSPL, then the ROM.
However, I do recommend that you use THESE GUIDES . I have not looked at vippies or DrPuttinghams guides, but they are both credible as well. I make the above recommendation based solely on personal experience and other user comments to me.
Good luck. It is not as scary as you think.

Just follow the link conantroutman gave you already.
Then scroll down in the first posting, there is a section called "flashing notes".
Basically you just flash the official 3.14 ROM....... then flash artemis...........
If you can get 3.14 from the HTC site then use that. If your serial number wont work you'll need to get a goldcard.
If your not that familiar with the flashing process I would reccomend reading through the stickies in the ROM development section before flashing anything.
Hope that helps.

Mate, if you would carefully read the "flashing notes" and the stuff which is linked there, you would have the answers to your questions already.
My intention is not to be rude, but I think a minimum of efforts should be done by yourself, there are masses of tutorials, step-by-step instructions, tipps and hints.
But if you don´t even follow the hints you´re getting, I get the feeling you might reconsider doing any flashing process with your phone.
