Inca X Mobile - Live Media GPS - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Recently I've been testing out this GPS software, and I love it so much I figured I'd post and tell you all about it.
The software uses the Titan's GPS along with its camera and captures video simultaneously with GPS data. You can either broadcast live to their site, or record and upload later. The newest build just added audio support. You need to create an account on their site to be able to upload or broadcast.
This is an example of what it does, recorded by me earlier tonight, and uploaded: http://www.ix-m.com/sl-demo/MoviePlayback.aspx?movieID=22454_24072008193915 (you must install Microsoft Silverlight first)
In live broadcast mode, anyone can log on to the site and watch a live stream from your Titan's camera, as well as see where you are (and how fast you're moving if you're traveling).
I think this is some badass software...and currently it's still in beta.

Great app...thanks for the tip.

thats pretty sweet

cool stuff gonna give it a try, I "had" go to Cape Cod for "work" a while back, its nice up there.

Very cool.
It may just be my crappy work computer, but the gps seemed to lag behind the video by about 5-10 seconds. It was noticeable at the exit ramp. As I said, it could be the PC I am on at the moment .

This seems really neat.

there was another program i tried a little while ago that i think did the same thing.
the name escapes me right now, but ill find it and post it. i know the one i used, used windows media player for the video and google maps for the gps.
not to knock on this one in any way, just thought id share(and i will once i find the link)
edit:
http://www.comvu.com/
i havent used it in a while, but it does what i think is the same thing.
enjoy

Nice find gonna give this a shot.....

I think my carrier would molest me with some kind of serious charges if I were to use this on a regular basis despite my "unlimited" data plan.
Looks pretty cool though.

Who's your carrier? I have unlimited data on Verizon and I tether my heart out...as well as use this quite a bit, no extra charges at all...
P.S. Tried out that livecast app gbenj posted...it's ok, but not as good as this in my opinion. Livecast is very bulky and is difficult to use, plus it doesn't allow to save videos locally and then upload later.

nice program good find

Whats the OS like? Better than iPhone/Android?
Its pretty good. The quality of the GUI is brilliant. It seems a little buggy with the marketplace. Before adding any exchange or Gmail accounts it was really snappy. Since adding the accounts it seems to have lost this edge (android was just like this too).
I've also got a Desire and they are almost identical in size and layout. I prefer android and its widgets though winpho isn't without its charm. I liken the experience to when I got a HTC Magic... not too many decent apps and only a few firmware updates and apps from being brilliant.
Apple UI and app store still make the platform impressive.... not really enough for me to hang onto my iPhone 4 for more than a couple of weeks.
There are some things to really like. Especially, the HTC hub from what I have seen so far. However, bugs are everywhere. Get errors when trying to install apps, says licences are not valid, or other errors and you just keep hitting retry until they install.
My computer wouldnt recognise it at first when I connected it to usb. It said unknown usb device. The driver install failed, then followed some windows updates for windows phone, a reboot, then it recognised it as a HTC and eventually as a windows phone. C'mon MS get the basics right.
I expect to like the phone eventually, but tomorrow I will still be using my HD2 with either WM6.5 or Android. Android just works and works well...
A disappointing start, but hopefully, it will come together soon!
thanks for the replies guys.
i am torn between this and omnia 7. am leaning towards the omnia 7 for the better specs! I cant wait to get one though. I sold my iPhone 4 to get one of these!
I'm using the mozart and am quite impressed. Although dont really l like the blocks without a nice background.
Keyboard is uber snappy though! :0)
I've had a few high end Samsungs and support, ie firmware updates etc have always been rubbish, whereas HTC are always pretty great.
Just my 2 cents.

Yepp, that´s the reason I won´t buy any Samsung product anymore. Firmware updates are crappy, the build quality of the hardware has become crappy, too.
Oh, and KIES? I think WP7 users will be happy not to be forced to use that impossible piece of software. KIES is an absolute no-go, killed the Galaxy S for me, next to the extremely cheap plastic feeling.
I´ll stick to HTC, either this one (Mozart) or HD7. But I´ll wait for a couple of months to see how the overall development looks like. And I still believe there is a slight chance that there will be a WP7 port for my HD2...
wow
I have had a number of phones over the last 3 years from HTC HD and HD2, but this Mozart is seriously quick. Bootup time is quick, the UI is lightning fast and good for big fingers which anoyed me with 6.5 and Android.
Keyboard is the best ive used so far, and ive only started to learn its capabilities.
I had it connected to my work Exchange and Live accounts in a few mins, and it hasn't slowed one bit yet.
More updates as i get more time to play.

It would be pretty bad ass if some of the XDA devs found a way to replace the black background with wallpapers!
Also, I wish the Mozart worked for T-Mo USA.
Talk about basics.... Try connecting to a WiFi network which has ssid broadcast disabled. I dare you to.... You can't. WTF!
Or try and find the mac address for the phone.
And another thing.... What's the point of being able to select a word in the browser when you can't copy and paste...nor does a co text menu able if you tap and hold the selection.
And for the encore... 373Mb downloaded over 3g in about 12 hours...most of which I was asleep! On my desire after a month of exchange and Gmail, downloading apps over 3g all the time I barely use 300mb. Interesting when every app I tried to install failed???
Bah. I really wanted AMOLED but the sammy is butt ugly in person and its huge...the mozart has a way nicer form factor. Dunno what I want now D=

Hmm, the Zune had the same issue connecting to hidden SSID's and adhoc wifi (main reason I never got one), so this gives me cause for concern really.
Forgive My Brevity. To Be Or Not To Be...
Really undecided now
Kinda relates to this thread but not from a user perspective.
I was really looking at getting this device over the Desire.
Now with some research I'm seeing some stuff that really has me leaning back to the Desire.
Batt life seems to be short (anyone remember the first release of the Diamonds)
No copy & paste out of the box... What the f...?
Most of this I'm hoping will be fixed with updates but when will that happen and how soon will the carriers pass them on???
Update: Yes trinest it is.. Its a base function in a business used device and very applish of them to leave it out.

From what I've read Battery life is fine- idoits just leave Wifi and every other thing on- gee- I wonder why the battery is draining.

Honestly, there is no reason for the Wifi chip to drain that much battery if you're not connected to a network. It might be polling too much on the background and burning through battery life.
I've had iPhones and an android phone for a few months and both of them had a longer lasting battery even with Wifi on all day and syncing stuff constantly so it is pretty obvious that Microsoft needs to work on power management in WP7.
I'm using an HTC Trophy and battery laster 13 hours yesterday even after spending most of the day in a 2G-only town. It's not horrible, but could be better.
I've had mine since Saturday and absolutely love it. Killer features for me are the Sharepoint, Exchange and Zune integration. In fact the latter is so good I'll be retiring my iPod and ponying up for a Zune pass when the trial runs out.
Downsides so far have been bloody Orange having two phone masts down in London till the 29th Oct which has made 3g patchy as hell and Twitter occasionally crashing the whole device, and the lack of backgrounding updates in apps. The first is clearly just one of those things (I work in tech support....), and I really hope the latter will be sorted in the next OS update.
I've had/have at various points Windows Mobile 5- 6.5.5 devices, Android 1.5- 2.2 ones and an iPod Touch and can honestly say that WP7 is the most pleasurable to use OS of them all. I'll be keeping my HD2 around for gaming and comics, but my daily phone is totally going to be the HTC Mozart.
Battery life I've had no issue with- seems easily on a par with what I expect from a smartphone.

I have an iPhone 4, and it doesn't last through the day if I leave Wi-Fi on accidentally in the morning and move around town during the day a lot. It is never connected but encounters lots of hotspots in the meanwhile. I guess that drains the battery.

[Q] Awesome setups and must have apps?

I've had my gtab now for over a month and I just installed my first ROM last week. I went with the Calkulin+Clemsyn V6 for the 1.2 BL. So far I have to say I love it but I don't know what it really excels at. Therefore, I thought maybe you guys could help a noob out and at the same time be able to do a bit of bragging about how bad a$$ your tablet is. What I would like to know is:
1. Share with the community about your bad a$$ setup. What do you have? What can it do? What makes it so bad a$$? And what are its cons?
2. What are some of the must have apps? What makes them a must have?
3. Can someone tell me what my ROM really excels at doing? Every ROM is especially good for something? What can mine do other than just being really fast and stable?
Just thought this would be fun for everyone to see what each of us have done with such a powerful blank slate and at the same time maybe get some ideas from each other on how to improve our own setups. Not to mention maybe a bit of bragging, which we all like to do, especially when you have an audience that can appreciate it. I try to brag to my gf about how bad a$$ the gtab is but since she knows nothing about tech toys, it is lost on her. So everyone whip out there metaphorical "you know what" and let's start measuring lol.
Well, speed and stability really is a universal need for you to do anything. I use mine for presentations, showing people autocad sketches, and reading and writing stuff at work. It really is a cheap and light weight way for me to achieve most of the things I'd normally do with a laptop.
My "girlfriend" just finished her graduate degree in something medical (trying to keep a level of anonymity here). She's a tech dummy, so I got her a transformer with a docking station for her to deal daily with her patients.
I use mine for research and school. I use adobe PDF to review lecture notes, I use Droidiris to search the web for pictures of medical $hit I have to learn (and just searching images too, searching "lazers" gave me an hour of solid lolz)
My gtab is badazz because I'm running the latest compile of cm7, I have used system app remover to cut all bloatware out of the os. This has resulted in an average 5% drain per hour in active use and a 2% per hour drain in stasis and a quadrant of 3450.
I'm running a red&black theme with a red glowing Keyboard, black&white background and black and white app icons. Its a simple mix of black, white, and red that to me is sassy as hell.
I use wiimote controller app to play snes and GBA games with a wiimote through Bluetooth. (Which blows people away when they see it)
I got Netflix, I got hulu and I got xda access, I am in love with this 2lb piece of plastic almost as much
as I am my wife. Luckily my wife has the specific ports needed to mount my other tab and transfer
data to internal SD.
Yes... we have a kid...
That's why that last part is funny.... not just because I said "mount" in a non technical refference but that I referenced her lady bits as internal SD and my genes as data.
Sounds pretty sweet

Your gtab sounds pretty sweet. The Netflix and Hulu are a couple of the things that I would like for mine to do. It may do those things now, but I haven't tried them yet. I like the customization with the colors that you did. It sounds like you have taken yours in a direction similar to where I would like to see mine at some point. I'm trying to learn which ROM does what, and what makes one better than another. Once I get that all figured out, I'll make my customization a bit more permanant. This is awesome. You guys keep posting your own bada$$ gtablet setups and customizations. I look forward to reading about them.

I use this as a guide,
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Barebones
It tells you what's safe to remove and what's not from cyanogen mods. It also tells you the free way to remove apps using terminal. I personally use system app uninstaller, it was a buck and is a worthwhile investment. Sets up a slick UI for deleting both system apps and normal apps.
In most cases if you have a favorite browser(I use dolphin 5.1) you can delete stock. Same with keyboard(I use better keyboard 8), launcher(I use VTL), video player(I use FLV player), music player (I use power amp).
Other things like private virtual network or stock live wallpapers that most don't use can go in the bin as well.
Hope that helps
As far as customization goes cm7 has a good theming app stock and free themes in the market. Vegan 5.1 has some sweet themes made by GTO777 in the apps and themes thread.
When I was shopping for ROMs GoodIntentions suggested that I might like Calkulin/Clemsym 1.5 V6. He was right. I like it for what I've been able to do with it. I didn't want to start customizing my tab just willy nilly without knowing what my ROM's capability was. Maybe you guys could point me in the right direction if I tell you what I want to do. Then you could tell me if it's even possible to do it with this ROM. I would like to be able to run the dolphin browser but was unable to find it in the market. I would aso like to be able to watch Netflix, Hulu, and various formats of video (Xvid, Avi, Mp4, etc.). The swype keyboard found on my cell phone would also be awesome. I'd like to be able to connect to my cell via bluetooth so that I could put the pictures and video from it on my gtab. This blows my mind why this simply doesn't work out of the box. Finally I would like to tether to my cell via USB. The reason I want it USB is because my phone gets really hot when tethering with wifi, which will cause the phone to shut down. Not to mention it can't be good for it. Please help me out guys and keep posting your setups too. Mantara has some great ideas he used in making his tab personal and it gets me thinking of stuff to do to mine.
Have you used barnacle to tether? Using barnacle to tether through wifi on my OG mytouch 3G never overheated and battery drain was reasonable. It was the only one that worked for extended periods of time.
Netflix only works on cm7 with some slight modifications and vegan 5.1 with a patch that breaks YouTube to get Netflix.
Hulu is available by using a modified flash apk. You can find the most recent modified apk on this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077914
you just need to turn flash to always on and user agent to desktop in your browser.
Here is dolphin 4.6, not the newest but its stable and plays well with hulu. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7828279/Dolphin Browser HD_4.6.1.apk
I heard there is a swype designed for tablets. Haven't used it yet but I know there is a thread in apps and themes all about getting swype to work.
That's all I can think of now, I wil edit if I think of anything more

I've been able to tether my laptop to my phone using Easytether. It works really well eventhough it's a free version. The thing is that requires software to be loaded on both the phone and the laptop. That software on the phone is for Windows so I haven't figured out how to make it work in the gTablet. Is Barnacle different in how it functions? Is there software for both the phone and the tablet? Explain how it works if you don't mind. I would love to figure this out.
As a side note, I would love to see a picture of your tablet homepage and keyboard. Could you get a screen shot? I gotta check it out.

There's some quick shots. Color Is odd because the crap free screen shot app is crap and couldn't get shots of red browser theme or the red and black Google Widgets and powerstrip because said crappy app only allows 3 free screen shots. But you can get the point from the pics I did get.
I see, your phone is win mob, barnacle is for android phones. No software on recipient end, only on parent phone. Works good though, I used to play Xbox 360 online through my barnacle adhoc

Man, I went back and reread my previous post. I made no sense. I have a Samsung Galaxy Indulge a la MetroPCS. So it is an Android phone. The problem is the software that I suppose I would need to load on the tablet to tether it to the phone. I had to do it to the laptop so it would connect to the phone, so it only make ssense that I should have to do it to the tablet as well. I have Easytether on my phone, no problem. What about software for the tablet? The laptop software is for windows so I can't load it on the tablet, and the software on the phone isn't what I need for the tablet even though they are both android. Seems really confusing, but it's really quite simple. Maybe it would be easier if you told me how you were able to make this connection using a barnacle USB connection. No wifi. Make sense lol?
Nice looking tablet by the way. I looked for some themes or skins for mine but I'm using VTL launcher and everything in the market says it's for ADW launcher. My name must have been Murphy ina previous life lol. Thanks for your help and input.
Most adw themes work in vtl. Vtl is built around adw source.
Barnicle makes a wifi connection available for your gtab to use. It links to your phones wifi and passes on its 3g signal. Only need to have barnacle on the phone. I have never actually "physically" tethered an android so I can't offer any advice on that.
I'm kinda screwed there I guess. I haven't rooted my phone yet, so it won't act like a wifi hot spot. Power control plus will do it but no one can break the wp2 encryption. Therefore I'm limited to the usb tether but those that have rooted their phones report extreme heat coming from it while in wifi tether mode. Not sure what to do about an internet connection since there appears to be no usb software at this moment. Thanks for the help though.

I've read through that thread and it only focuses on themes and home page screen shots. I want to know what people have been able to make their tablets do as well as seeing some of the visual stuf they've come up with. An example of what I'm talking about is some have synced their SMS with google voice and are able to use their tables to text. Some are making phone calls, using skype, watching hulu and netflix, and some have even turned their tabs into mobile nostalgia gaming devices. There are tutorials on how to do some of this stuff, but not all of it. I am interested in meeting these people and seeing how well these operations function, and how they did it. The other thread doesn't share this information and rreally doesn't go beyond the visual aspect of the homescreen. I hav noticed one thing for sure in these forum and that is that people love to brag about what they can do with thier tablets. I was merely offering them an opportunity to do so. What can yours do?

Looking to possibly go from G2 to TB....help please?

Hey all,
I have had a G2 with tmobile from practically day one (and a G1 before that). I use cyanogen roms and enjoy the crap out of my G2. Long live android and all you devs that put in absurd amounts of work and let us lay-people reap the fruits of your labor!
However, tmobile's service is driving me up the walls. I live in a metropolitan area (Seattle) yet I still drop calls like no one's business. The 4g coverage/speeds is great sometimes, and crap at other times. I've been flashing different radios, but that doesn't seem to change anything. A friend telling me that they got tmobile to waive the termination fee because of poor coverage and the TB price on wifefly recently both got my attention.
I scanned through a series of posts and searched a bit, but wasn't able to find exactly what I'm looking for, so here are my questions for any of you peeps rocking TB's who would be so kind as to answer:
1. I dig the built-in wifi hotspot on my tmobile G2. They don't get to charge me any BS extra fees. I can wifi hotspot my laptop wherever I have data coverage. Is this the same with a cm7 verizon TB or are you subject to their data gestapo charges?
2. I REALLY dig my raised-key physical keyboards (G1, G2, notice trend) but have gotten pretty good with Swype on my G2. It looks like Swype does not come stock on the TB but can it be added?
3. The camera on the G2 is RAD, if you have a tripod nearby to stabilize it on... :-/. I find it super difficult to get a non-blurry shot if the subject or myself is moving (and the earth is continually rotating, so this is a problem). How's the shutter speed/general performance of the TB camera? Does it take pretty clear photos even if the subject is moving or do they look like a blurred out spirit-realm being?
4. Similarly, I feel that the camcorder for the G2 has poor FPS for its class, as 'HD' video gets all blurred with only minimal movement. I've tweaked it a bit but it never can quite cut the cheese as a legitimate memory-capturer (). It irks me to no end that my gf's iphone 4 gets way better video quality than my G2. I want to end this nonsense. How's the camcorder on the TB? A little action shooting gonna look OK or no?
5. The rooting/flashing of the TB looks fairly straightforward. Looks like there's tons of dev support and some kickin roms. Late nights in adb shell on my laptop here I come!!! Correct me if I'm wrong.
6. Battery life sounds like an issue when you're running stock, but significantly improves with the right roms/settings (duh). I also use a charger at work, so I'm always able to give my phone some juice. No reason to freak out here, correct?
That's it, that's all. If you feel like only answering one, please do. I'm just wanting to make sure I make a good decision before I try to deal with tmobile & waiving my termination fee (FML). Even if I only get some of this info, it will help.
Thanks a ton ya'll.

To answer your question about rooting, I am a noob when it comes to understanding this stuff. I was able to successfully root my tbolt, twice I might add just by following instructions. The dev support is incredible and the roms are superb. I know the battery life thing is an issue to some people but the newest kernels out there definity make up for it. Also Verizon is getting rid of their unlimited data on the 7th so better make a quick decision.

Thanks.
Ya, I'm planning on making a move in the next few days if I get comfortable enough with the thunderbolt and get t-mobile to take a hike.

I run CM7 wifi tether all the time without worrying about data charges..I believe the stock app is free for a while as well.
Swype isn't included stock on the TB, but it can indeed be added if you sign up for their now open beta.
More than half the time if the subject is moving I am able to get a clear photo of them..just went on a safari ride down at Disney and was able to get a ton of very good pictures.
I've never had a problem with aaction shots on my TB either all my videos look crisp.
There is a lot of Dev support for such a new phone.. cyanogenmod is currently in alpha stage because of problems with 4g surviving a reboot but that's to be expected, just like the Evo. We have froyo sense roms and gb sense roms as well as sense 3.0 roms to go with our two AOSP builds that suffer from the 4g issue but if you don't reboot your phone a lot it's a non issue and data isn't that hard to toggle
If you are near a charger all the time at work you should have no problems with battery life when rooted/rom'd. There was a deal on HTC express where they were selling two 1700 mAh batteries and a wall charger that charges batteries as well as your phone.. there's debate as to whether or not they have the capacity that is claimed but they definitely last longer than the stock battery so I just keep one in my wallet.
Hope that covers everything.. if you have any more questions feel free to ask

Regarding wifi tether : Verizon will charge $20/month starting July 7th. Unless you root, then it's free.

+1 for awesome dev support on the TB. And with the recent GB kernels the battery issues are not much a of a problem.
Here is my experience:
I rooted the OG Droid with a one-click so I was pretty nervous using ADB. I followed all the instructions and it worked just fine.
For battery life - I found a good deal on Amazon with the 1600 Seido battery and a wall charger that charges up the extra battery. I will keep the extra battery around if I am going to be out for 12+ hours, but I use my phone a ton, with Navigation and browsing, etc.
For Swype - the new Sense 3.0 ROMs (I use BAMF's which I think is the only one right now) have a "Trace" option in the keyboard. I think it is similar to Swype, but I haven't personally used either. I did find myself missing the hard keys less and less in a matter of days after upgrading though.
Good luck!
Thanks everyone. Really helpful info.
I actually used the Trace keyboard function, and will say that it is quite well implemented (first tried it on the HTC Sensation, then installed the BAMF RC3 ROM) though not as accurate as Swype.

[Q] Using an 800 as a PDA?

I'm still making my way through the impressions thread, so far it sounds like a fantastic deivce, but I wanted to get the folks of XDA's opinion on something.
I won an unlocked 800 (not sure the specific model, find out tonight) in a Qualcomm contest, but I currently have Sprint for a carrier so I can't really use it as an actual phone. I was thinking of just using it as an old school PDA with WiFi, but I'm totally new to WP so I'm not really sure if it'd be worth it. Any thoughts in using it in that mode? Does WP play nice without a SIM? Thanks!

It works just fine I guess. It won't be great as a music player because sound quality isn't that great, but it can definitely be a good browsing machine, IE9 is a beast

That's now fixed with the latest ROM update.
It works great without a SIM, I have one in the office for testing the mobile site.
Awesome, thanks to you both! I'll probably load some music onto it but it wouldn't be my primary PMP, good to hear it's fixed though.
BlitterTwisted, for the one you use without a SIM are there any particular nuances to using the device without a SIM (other than a no SIM warning)? E.g., carrier updates, carrier applications that aren't provided with an unlocked device, etc? After using WinMo for years I feel like such a noob with WP

I can't think of anything. I should have said, the one in the office is a HTC Radar, not a Lumia, but the OS is the same.
You can add all the same accounts, fill the people hub with data, use the marketplace, play music and games, pretty much everything except SMS and make calls.
As long as you've within Wifi range you're set
and the battery life will be great. should easily last you upto 3 days if you just listen to music and browse..

[Q] Using i717 as in car GPS/mp3 player

I've got 2 Notes to play with as my gf and I both got new phones last week. One is going up for sale but the other is staying around as a backup device incase one of us (her) breaks our phone. I wanted to repurpose it to act as GPS and audio source in the work van. It currently runs Liquidsmooth 4.4 which I was happy with as a phone ROM.
Question is does anyone know of an even slimmer ROM since I do not need phone functions at all? Would it even make a difference if I was to strip it down to the functions I want to lighten it up?
Pretty much all I need is tablet functions, my S5 will provide wifi for streaming. Even the browser is extraneous, beyond Pandora and Play Music I won't need much besides Maps.
The device will work fine for me with full LS, but I was curious how light I could get the ROM. I've never tried such a thing.

If you have TiBu, you could freeze anything you dont use. Dont want to delete as you dont really know what itty bitty things you may need for functionality.

Yeah I was thinking the same. I was hoping someone had built a ROM off the media player Samsung made but no evidence of it. For the time being I'm just gonna run LS with no unnecessary apps added. I may reinstall it with the bare minimum of GApps to further clean it up but I kinda like the idea of having a mini tablet for the work day. Because the S5 and Nexus 7 I carry just aren't enough!
It might even be a good reason to try to learn to build a ROM myself although very few people would need it. I've always wanted to try it.
So my experiment in repurposing a Note as my GPS isn't going very well. It has a fresh 4.4 install with almost no unnecessary apps. I've disabled all the apps that I can.
I use the S5 as a hotspot to feed data, since although you can cache Google Maps apparently you can't search them without data. Other free GPS apps have not panned out well either. The open source maps they use are often missing street addresses and/or whole streets. I may spend a few $ on a prepaid SIM to to solve this.
1st - Battery Life is horrible, I can't figure out why. I'm running LiquidSmooth which gave me great battery life as a phone, even using GPS didn't drain like it does now. I even bought a new battery to try to rule that out. 1 hour of driving up to Seattle today killed 50% of the battery. Perhaps the lack of cell connection is a problem here but even wifi with airplane mode enabled (yes you can do this) this setup eats battery at a rate faster than the charger can supply. I can use a 2A charger but am low on outlets and work would dislike a hardwired charger.
2nd - Frequent reboots when using any music player while using GPS. I've tried Apollo, Play Music, PowerAmp and a few I don't recall. Players work OK; GPS works ok; but together... I rarely get more than 15 minutes with no reboots. If I can't have music and GPS it defeats the point of this.
3rd - The screen just isn't bright enough, in the few sunny days we've had it is difficult to see the maps in some lights. I dislike spoken directions (see #4) so this is a real problem and likely what will doom this plan since I can't change this.
4th - Spoken directions are the same volume as whatever media I am listening to, so they regularly blare out repetitive instructions at high volume.
5th - I need a better keyboard to operate the device at a distance since Google voice search is not good at understanding addresses.
Any ideas to mitigate these issues are welcome; I especially dislike the battery and reboot problems. Perhaps I'll install the mini or micro GApps package to dump some unneeded Google Apps?
It's only been a few days but if this stuff continues I will not keep using it as I already opt to not turn it on sometimes because it likes to reboot at crucial times. Unfortunately I modded my proper GPS cradle to hold the Note so a new GPS may be in order.
