I notice that when I reflash/hard-reset my phone, even tho I can sync with either ActiveSync or Exchange, it always resets all of my ringtone preferences back to the default ringtone. Where are these stored, that way I can back them up and restore with the UC at the end.
Thanks for any info you can provide.

i'm guessing they may be stored in your registry
if so, u can create a .reg file for the proper string then make a .cab from the .reg and UC it, i use a pc program called CeRegEditor that lets u read and copy whatever from your ppc while activesync'ed and it does the reg > cab conversions too
Thats what I had planned to use, pending it was in the registry. I guess I'll have to search thru it tonight and see if I can find it.

Id suggest trying one of the registry monitoring programs when adjusting a contacts ringtone.

Hope this helps.
It does help, but how about for contact ringtones. If I set a individual ringtone for a certain person, where is this stored? Same area?
Thanks,

when i use PIM backup to backup my messages and contacts it saves my custom ringtones and even pictures too somehow
Exchange saves my pictures, but I'll look into PIM backup software to see if it works for me. Anyone know of any FREE pim backup software?
Thanks,

Since WM2003 it's great not having to use the sms name fix programs to make names from Outlook appear on incoming texts.
However, it's still the case that if you click on someone's name in Contact and select Send SMS, it just puts the number in the To box, rather than the name and / or number.
If you reply to someone who has already sent you a text through the context menu whilst reading the message, it DOES put the name of the other person in.
Is anyone aware of any programs etc that will make the xda work in this way? It can't be that the name would cause a problem as it works perfectly fine when you reply to existing sms's with it in.
I'd appreciate any comments on this.
Cheers
Anthony
Instead of selecting the contact and creating the SMS message, create a new message and start typing the name of the contact. A pop up box appears with contact names in and when you select the contact their name is entered in the TO line.
Just goes to show you don't get anywhere if you don't ask huh?
I should have thought Pocket Outlook would work the same as normal Outlook, but just always did contacts > name > send SMS. Now it's just New > Message and type in the name.
Cheers for that!
Anthony
PS - this forum is great
What is a good ringtone prog out there, Ive DL several trials.. but they all seem rinkydink ... any suggestions, Id like to assign ringtones to diff callers..
thanks in advance
I'm not sure if this is a feature of WM6 or PocketCM but on my TyTN I have WM6 installed and am using PocketCM and noticed when I edit a contact there is a field for ring tone. This will allow you to set a ringtone for specific contacts. Hope this helps.
I was testing some software on my mogul and decided to restore a backup of the phone. I used Resco Backup to backup/restore the PIM and file system.
Resco didnt do a good job of the file system and registry...when it finished the restore my SMS/MMS and E-mail account were missing from Messaging.
I left it like that all of sunday, said i do a "Clear Storage" later that day.
Then i came to realize that people where sending me SMS but they weren't showing up....guess because they had no SMS account to show up in..
is there anyway to retrieve/redeliver these SMS?
My carrier is Sprint
you can call sprint but more then likely if the text 'hit' your phone then they should be there or lost
you can try doing a hard reset of your phone and see if the texts pop up there (in theory this would work if there is no 'text' accounts under messages)

No way is a hard reset going to make them appear. Not a chance.
I would look into how PPCPimBackup looks for text messages. If it goes beyond the Outlook account level you might be in luck.
This is for a Sprint Touch Pro running stock rom
I have successfully removed the outlook folder inside the tf3d mail window. You can do this by opening activesync on your phone, start-programs-activesync, then hit menu on the bottom right, then hit options and un-checking everything.
I also want to delete the outlook account that you see when you go to the tf3d mail window and hit inbox. This is where I need help.
I have been able to delete it but as a result I also lost the sound for my message notifications. This is what I did:
In your registry editor on your Touch Pro navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\ I then clicked on the ActiveSync folder and added a .bkp so it looked like ActiveSync.bkp I then saved it and did a soft reset. This method got rid of the outlook account inside my inbox but whenever I got a text message or email I would not get a sound notification. I was able to reverse this by just deleting the .bkp and get my sound back along with the outlook account in the inbox.
So if you navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\ you see an ActiveSync folder in there. If you click on it you see this:
Name.................................. Data
DLL .....................................syncmgr.dll
friendlyname .......................outlook e-mail
name ...................................activesync
usercannotcreate .................1 (0x000001)
If you open the activesync folder you have a folder in there called MsgClasses:
Name ..................................Data
IPM.Note .............................1 (0x000001)
I believe the MsgClasses folder has to do with your message notifications and by changing the name of the folder its in its not being recognized or working correctly. So I was hoping someone can help me out who knows what there doing. I don’t know if the keys inside the ActiveSync folder can be deleted or changed and if so to what? Or if I’m even correct about the MsgClasses folder having to do with your message notifications.
Thanks!
Anyone with any ideas? Maybe if one of the Mods can move this to the general Raphael section I'll get some responses.
Thanks

Hi, I've got the same problem and can't find the solution in registry...
you can try this...with your phone unplugged from your computer...click on the active sync icon and go into menu, right soft key, then go into options...you can delete your parntership from your phone and then go into windows mobile device center on your computer...go you mobile device settings and click end partnership...now there is no partnership...then setup a new partnership with no email sync clicked...never ran into this issue, but this might just solve yours...
cheers!!
Hi there, first of all im a noob and ive been only using this phone for a week or so. I am wondering, is there a function to set a message alert (SMS ringtone) specifically to certain contacts? Its frustrating to use global message alert for all the contacts. It would be nice if I can know who is messaging me by assigning them a specific ringtone. Please advice
anyone care to help?
Look for
oldSAP Oist v1.4 individual SMS Tones
thanks bro.. One more question.. When choosing a tone, how do I access the folder that has default msg tones?
Update: This software only plays wav files
