I've come across some people that when they see my phone, they're like is that an iPhone and im like no, its a Vibrant. It happened more than twice and i find it annoying how people can mistake the Vibrant for an iphone.
So question is Has it happened to you and do you find it annoying?
No one under the age of 40 mistakes my Vibrant for an iPhone. Everyone I know, everyone I go to school with it, etc. etc. knows it's a Galaxy S.
The only time someone ever mistook it for something else was when my neighbor asked me if it was a Captivate.

Well, Samsung did mirror the iphones physical appearance with this particular device......and since the iphone is marketed 100x more than the Vibrant, which is pretty much outdated anyway, what do you expect people to think if theyve never owned a vibrant?
WITH THAT SAID, it is quite annoying
Once I got "Is that Samsung's iPhone?" I couldn't quite fault them, they knew what it was even though it was a fairly insulting way to put it. The best, though, was going through a checkout while my 4 year old played Angry Birds. The clerk got jealous - "Is that that new Samsung???!" Asked a bunch of questions. Clearly knew it was Android, some basic specs, though she'd never touched any sort of smart phone before. Rare example of an educated (non techy) consumer.

well like the guy above me said... the vibrant is a mirror image of the iPhone 3g and 3gs ,just slightly bigger.
as far as ppl mistakingly my vibrant as an iphone,it doesnt annoy me as much as people throwing the DROID name out and about.... droid this, droid that, is that a droid phone, etc.
DROID is nothing but a BRAND NAME used by Verizon for SELECTED android handsets.
Yeah, the SGS line (and Vibrant in particular) heavily ape the old iPhone designs, even down to the fake-chrome bezel.
I'd certainly forgive somebody who had never used the devices for mistaking one for the other.
Yea I can't believe the stupidity involved in mistaking my phone for an iPhone. Don't people know anything? Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!! I have flashcards with pictures of phones on one side and the name on the other. I regularly quiz myself. The last thing I want to do is look like a complete idiot OMG

The "Droid" thing is probably more annoying than someone mistaking it for an iphone. But the best is:
Dumbass: "Is that an iPhone?"
Me: "No actually it....."
Dumbass: "Ohhh its a Droid."
Me: "No its a Galaxy S, but Android is the operating system, just like the Droid"
Dumbass: "Oh ok, so then you have Verizon?"
Me: **punches dumbass in face**
I wouldn't call people stupid for mistaking a phone that looks similar. I'll admit, I don't know much about cars. Doesn't make me stupid that I don't know all car models and may have mistaken some similar models for another one.
Take it as an opportunity to inform people about Android and the Vibrant. I tell people that looks like an iPhone but it's so much better. Then I show them examples (or course I wouldn't do this in front of strangers when I don't feel safe).

The same exact thing happened to me, except my son is 2 and the cashier thought it was some new gaming system, and she really wasn't that educated either.
OK, so it was actually nothing like your experience.
I'm sure u guys don't know every single phones name in the world.
It happens. And vibrant does look like a iPhone from a bit of distance.
I'm just annoyed when I say I have a android powered phone they auto think I have a Droid x or pro....

To be perfectly honest, I don't think comparing the Vibrant to the iPhone is an insult. The iPhone is a top notch smartphone by consumer standards and if someone thinks my phone is as cool as an iPhone then I'll suck it up and take that with stride.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Both stories had children playing AB, both involved a cashier, and there may have been shopping carts. That last part is pure conjecture, but is a reasonable assumption.

Fellow VW enthusiast...NICE to meet you!
Maybe because that iphone is more popular and having this mistakes is not stupid.
Blame Samsung, from a distance it looks exactly like an iphone. The chrome bezel doesn't help. But im probably the only user to blindly pick up my phone upside down. Lol

Yes, I definitely agree with the phone being mistaken for an iphone. Even the software (touch wiz) almost looks like an iphone. People really think its an iphone. When I tell them what it is you can see naturally that they think the phone is a knockoff iphone. We should not get mad. We knew this before we bought/traded/found/stole (however you happen to own the phone) the Vibrant.

The people they interviewed actually seemed pretty open to it - more so than I would have expected. I was expecting more wide-eyed BGR-type reactions, but at least the woman in the middle of the video seemed like she wanted to keep it.
I was slightly surprised to see that both of the guys thought it was too big for a phone, when both of the girls seemed all for it. I still don't get the first guy's opinion that carrying two devices is more practical than one that can fit both bills quite well. Also, the second guy doesn't realize the hypocrisy in his opinion. He says the stylus is just one more thing to carry, one more thing to use, and doesn't like the idea of it; even though it is stored inside the device and you don't need to use it....hmmm? Then he goes to say that he likes carrying two devices around more so than the possibility of having both in one pocket-able design. Doesn't add up in my mind. I don't think I will ever understand the full power of the iSheep.
I think the girls are smart and realize the true potential of this device. They realize that they shouldn't care if somebody thinks their phone is huge, that it is still pocket-able, and it can be a very useful all-in-one device.
Hate it when people refer to my white Radar as Iphone, the nerve.
then i have to break it down for them.
i tell them that iphone is dead n my Radar is alive #live tiles,
Haha.
I thought I was the only one who got that. Its crazy that even after they see the live tiles they still don't realize its not an iPhone
Same here, my white HTC radar was confused as iPhone, and much worse, an iPod Touch.

Funny, people notice mine as something completely different as soon as they see it. They usually think it's an Android at first though.
I've had mine called an android & an iPhone. The funny thing was that even after I explained it was a windowsphone from Microsoft they looked at me crazy, like "No way Microsoft has something that cool!"
Sent from my Kick Ass Lil Radar using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
its a nice feeling when they all go "WOOOW!!! can i have it?" n my response "sure, but not this one of mine" double
You should say it is an iPhone just so your friends go and buy a Radar themselves
No one confused mine as iPhone, but most thought that HTC only makes Android phones and mine is one of them...
When I told them my HTC Radar is a windows phone, they said "Windows Mobile sucks!"
And now when Windows Phone is mentioned, everybody thought it must be a Nokia Lumia...
LOL
(Lumia 800 is way overrated btw)
promote the os
I just picked up my Radar a week ago. I haven't been around for people to see it yet. When people do see it, I'm going try to promote the Os/phone. I really like using WP7. I have android dual booting on my HD2 also. I have been using WP7 on my hd2 for along time now and its still great. The reason I picked up the radar is because I realized I was not helping the platform by just using a hacked rom on the Hd2. It would be for our benefits if we do promote our phone a little when people ask. That if you like the OS like me.
Ps. I'm not pay by anyone to write this. I'm just a WP fan.
only a black case will solve this problem!(a little bit)!!
So has anyone had these to phones in hand at the same time. I am curious to know how the Rezound screen compares to HTC's new LCD2 screens. From everything I read they say the new HTC screens are the best they have seen to date.
So curious if anyone was able to compare to the Rezound.
Not to sound like a d1ck, but it might help if you put a q or ? in the title. You have got alot of views, and I think it is because we would like to see a comparison. Have a great weekend

Added......I was going to try and make my way to a Sprint store today to see one but never got around to it.
The Rezound is my wifes phone. I have a GNEX. I just installed a Sense 4.0 Rom on her phone and as I was playing with it, today is the first time I thought the Rezound had a pretty nice screen. I used an SGS2 prior so I am all about Super Amoled screens but I caught myself saying, this screen is not bad on this thing.
I have seen a lot of comparison's made from the One X to the GNEX screen saying it kills it but nothing compared to the Rezound so I was curious to here what someone has to say who had both side by side.
Just got home from the HTC One announcement event and thought I would share my observations.
First here is the HTC page for the new phone: http://bit.ly/12HHcc9 if you want to go check out the specs and things.
Having used the phone, I can tell you, I was not sure I could go back to a smaller device since I have a DNA and am very comfy with the size. However, it fit the hand very well, and was not so much different that it bothered me.
The main home screen now has "BlinkFeed", which if you ever used FlipBoard is very similar. You go in and tell it what information you are interested in and it assembles a mosaic of blurbs from your social media and news sources for you to glance at. When you see something you like, you can tap it to get details. It seems to scroll on and on forever.
I'm not sure how much I like this, it'll be one of those things you have to try out to see how it sits with you. I have been told it can be disabled for those who don't care for it. On top of this, you also get 4 regular style home screens for shortcuts and widgets.
Sense is very clean now. Everything has been minimalistically styled for sleek looks and a very sexy overall appearance. I was very happy with the way things looked and how they came together.
And for those of you worried about it, the original Sense WeatherClock is still in there.
It does have NFC, but they seem to have left out Android Beam. I was told at lunch that it should be back in by release day. We will see.
The camera is also an innovation. Something called "UltraPixel". They did not give tech specs, but having used it, I can tell you it is truly beautiful. They also paired it with something called "Zoe" which is hard to describe, but you will love it. It takes your stills and videos, creates a 30 second mashup, sets it to music, and you can watch it right there on the fly. Check out this vid AndroidPolice made at the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A5WXhzoCCA to better understand.
The phone has stereo front speakers and sound enhancement called "BoomSound". This really delivers a rich, full stereo sound that I was (for the first time on a phone) actually impressed with. You don't realize how bad your phone's speaker is till you hear something good.
They have added TV Remote software, which I did not try, but if you lose your remote, it could come in handy.
And finally, it has Sense Voice, which is supposed to let you make and hear calls, no matter how loud or cluttered the background noises are around you. Since the demo phones did not have service, I was unable to test that as well.
So there it is. Overall, I would say there are several major steps forward by HTC in this phone. You should definitely check it out when it hits the stores.

I wish I could have made it to the event, living in CT it's not too far of a trek, unfortunately it wasn't possible for me. Thanks for the review though - the camera definitely seems interesting. Less MP's but ultimately a higher quality rather than software process resolution bumps.
Hmm... I read on a few other sites that the Blinkyfeedy thing cannot be disabled. They also left off wireless charging. And it's coming to a bazillion carriers across the globe but not Verizon. Silliness.
Happy with my DNA.
I do appreciate the write up. Thanks man.

I touched one once for like 3 minutes...it seems like it can't do anything. I like files...and downloading things and finding them in my download folder. I also didn't like all the squinting I had to do to see the screen.

Nice to hear your review, D. The size really concerned me because my DNA is borderline for me. I'd almost prefer a 4.7" 1080P screen. It seems *just* too wide for one hand typing while walking around holding a drink. I'll probably go check it out when they hit the stores, but I'm happy with my DNA and will likely stick with it.
is the carousel swiping of home screens still there because I saw a vid and it didn't look like it the carousel effect was still there but I could be wrong.
Is the DNA getting Sense 5? b/c that would be awesome and sense 5 prototype was spotted running on DNA? But prally not because VZW is a POS and needs a year+ to put on bloatware.
