Hi,
after 2 month of using, I have BIG problem with my MDA2. Today, unawares, the "phone part" hangs up. I am using original ROM 1.52.00WWE, Radio 1.06.01 from T-mobile Czech.
If I turn on my MDA2, it's starts up, but there are "!" on the antenna icon. If I click the icon, my XDA2 will do soft reset.
I tryed another SIM. Same result. What's realy strange is, that I can make outgoing calls and SMS. But nobody can make call to me (it's rinning on other side, but my MDA2 do nothing).
If I go to Settings->phone->Network then I see message "No service". On manual netvork selection I can choose T-mobile CZ, but after "registering to network" window, nothing change.
Any advice?
For some reason today my phone has continually been wrong about how many voicemails I have waiting. I cleared all of them out and it continues to tell me I have "1 or more" waiting. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm running XDA Live .20 if that has anything to do with it. I in fact just upgraded to .20 after first seeing this problem and after reflashing it still comes up with the "1 or more" waiting, and even when I check, there are none.
EDIT:
Got it fixed from the Cingular forums... apparently Voicemail can get "stuck", I left a message for myself, checked it and then deleted it and the notification went away.
I know there are a few different MMS issues going around, so I thought I'd create a thread for my unique issue.
I'm using DCD's 2.2.1 rom, rebuilt to add the cricket OEM for carrier settings. This is the only change I've made.
When I get an MMS message, my phone gets the announcement, connects to the web to download the message, and after a second or two the "downloading mms message" icon just disappears. If it's set for autodisconnect, it also disconnects the data connection. Occasionally (about 1 out of 6 times) I'll get an error that simply says "cannot receive message. Try again later"...
Anyone had this issue? anyone have any idea what it might be? It has the feel of a timeout setting being wrong, but I doubt that's it.
FYI, all my server settings, my evdo settings, and my pst settings are correct. I've manually verified that everything is set up correctly.
Also FYI, this issue isn't confined to the latest DCD rom, it's happened with every GPS rom I've used.
any help/advice?
I'm stuck. I've been through dcd 3.1.x and 3.27 only to find out no sound and then I tried to do 3.37 and 3.0.4 verizon and no go. Phone app says "Initial Programming Required". Can't dial *228, when I do a guy comes on and says it's an invalid code or number "error number 7". Oddly enough I can receive calls and sms messages.
Is this a simple problem with an a-key? When I went to stock after the failed 3.1.1 and 3.27 radio, I got a woman saying I had an auth error and to dial #8899. Called vzw and they gave me an a-key which fixed incoming and outgoing calls.
Sounds like an a-key.
If it's the a-key, how come *228 won't work and how come I don't get the message from the Verizon lady saying the phone can not be authenticated?
Part of this problem has been solved. Based on someone's suggestion on ppcgeeks.com, I needed to grab a PRL file and manually load it. Here's the post containing the replacement PRL http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20090
Only thing is the phone was programmed successfully with *228 but thinks its roaming. Still trying to get it resolved.
Quite a while ago, I flashed to DCD 3.2.6. After that, I noticed that I couldn't dial phone numbers from my contacts, but I could dial them directly. When I would dial using the contact, it would look like the call was going through, then I would get three error chimes and a message saying the call was disconnected.
Finally, I figured out that the difference is that in my contacts, the phone numbers all have "+1" before the number, i.e. "+1(206) 555-1212". This is the international prefix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_call_prefixes#Syntax).
I assumed that this was a problem with DCD 3.2.6. However, I just flashed DCD 4.1.2, and the same issue is there. I suppose I could go through all 223 of my contacts and edit the phone numbers to get rid of the plus sign. However, this is the correct format for a number, and non-custom ROMs have worked fine with it.
Anyone got an idea of how to get the dialer with DCD 4.1.2 to work with these phone numbers? I'm guessing I just need to change some configuration relating to my International Prefix (U.S.) Alternatively, does anyone know of a ROM that does work with these phone numbers and also keeps the GPS and tethering (via Internet Sharing) working on my Verizon XV6800?
Thanks,
Jamie
Got it
Okay, I found it.
In the dialer application, go to "Menu", "Options...", "Services" tab, scroll down to "Plus Code Dialing". The rest is self-explanatory.
Hopefully, this will save someone else some time.
