I have DCD 3.2.6 and radio 3.42.50 on Verizon.
When I open IE or Opera, there is no connection to the internet. When I click on the EV icon, sometimes it says there are no data sessions active. Other times is shows connectivity with bluetooth and ActiveSync. Sometimes, the EV icon isn't even there and only the two arrows icon is. The Data Connection icon in the Comm Manager is grey and doesn't do anything when I click it.
I have the correct user name and password in the data network connect settings. I have done the *228 option 1 programming.
What the heck is wrong?

could be your DMU key. If you have another old phone laying around.... preferable another Data phone.... go online and activate it under your 6800's account. Then.... after it is up and running... go back and activate your 6800. This should reload your DMU key the next time you try to access the internet

Since Yesterday my wifi hasnt been working. It just randomly stopped connecting and im not sure why. It askes me for my network code and when i type it it (exactly how it is) it says network key incorrect and wont work. and when im at my friends house whhere there is no need for a network key, it says that IE cannot display the page. Also it keeps trying to dial out verizon broadband when my wifi switch is on. Isnt it not supposed to do that?
Just because the Wifi switch is on does not mean the wireless is enabled. Have you tried using the connection management button (the one just below the power button) to bring up the connectons screen nd make sure that WLAN is enabled and it's not in flight mode or anything.
Also go to Start > Settings >Connections > Wireless LAN
Check the MAIN Tab.. you should see all the fields filled in and a signal Quality Meter.
The ADVANCED Tab will show your IP and Status..
That should help you determine if you are really are connected.
yes my wifi is enabled in the connections manager. and in the settings it does not show that i am connected to a network.
when you search for wireless networks, do you SEE yours? or are you entring it manually?
yes i see mine. It pops up to notify me and asks for my Network key. and when i enter it it tells me its wrong but i know its not beacause i was looking right at the linksys network on my home computer.
I seem to remember there being an issue with WPA keys at some point.
Try removing the security from the access point... then try to connect. (I'm not suggesting this as a perminent fix, just to see if it's a problem connecting, or a problem with the encryption. Turn the Security back on after the test.)
I know you tested at a friends.. but try this anyway. If you can connect ok, then you have an encryption issue... if you still cant, you have an issue with the wireless itself.
what ROm / Radio do you have?
What kind of security do you use? WEP? / WPA-PSK?
How Long is your key?
Yes i think its my encryption becasue i went to work today (A campground) and connected to their unsecured network right away. My friends internet is always messed up anyway.
I am using DCD 3.2.5 ROM
and radio 3.42.50
Its a WEP Encryption and the code is 10 characters long
Hey first post here... been a lurker in the Kaiser boards for about a year now and love the work everyone does.
Anyway, I got a Sprint TP that a coworker said he lost (so he could get a new one). Not using the sprint service but was thinking I could use the wifi to hop on my home network to avoid pulling out my laptop. Problem is the wifi just wont turn on. I've flashed 3 different roms and upgraded the radio to 1.11. Tried the program "AKtogglewifi" and double checked a reg entry as per a ppcgeeks tip and still get nothing. When I hit the wifi toggle in the comm manager the busy animation starts then it just switches back to off. If I go to the wifi settings page and click the "Turn Wifi on" hyperlink, nothing happens.
I'm open to any hints or suggestions and thanks in advance.
[the roms i tried are KK's loaded v1.1 and 1.2 and MightyROM v4.9.2]

I believe your issue is it is not turned on. most of the settings are downloaded from the cell system if the phone isn't registered no data no nothing. I could be wrong but I don't think it will work if it isn't turned on with someone. That and if he reported it lost sprint probably killed that phone.

The WiFi and GPS function independent of a cell signal. The GPS can work with a cell signal to go aGPS, but also can work stand alone. WiFi never gets any settings via a cell signal.
I have a Sprint Touch Pro that is not activated on the network and the WiFi works perfectly. WiFi has nothing to do with having service turned on.
Apologies if this has been resolved eslwhere, but I did a thorough search and I could not find the solution in similar questions asked for the exact problem I am having.
I have an HTC HD2, basic Rom 1.66.405.2 (76641)with Max Manilla, Radio version 2.06.51.07.
I have previously used Opera 9 and Opera 10 to surf the internet along with Skyfire with no problems when using the 3G connection or when connected to my home or work WiFi, until a few weeks ago. When connected through WiFi, having changed nothing on the network routers or my phone, I just cannot get to pages. The same is with the facebook app and any updates via weather or stocks/shares.
It seems that as soon as WiFi is connected there is no data connection.
I have checked data connection and it is OK, I have also tried the slider the best as suggested on another forum, even re-installing Opera 10, to no avail.
I am considering switching to Energy Max Sense at the moment but hesitating as I can't bear going through another hard reset and re-installing everything, but this issue might just force me down that route.
Any thoughts before being forced down this route?
Been through lots of different settings and basically it appears that once wifi is connected I lose all data connecions, nothing then connects.....Please help?
Did you ever get this fixed, because I am now having the same problem.
I used to get internet data connection via wifi by first turning off data connection in comm manager, then turning on wifi. I must have screwed something up, because now I cannot get any data traffic via wifi. I can't even get data from my cell network whilst wifi is on, I have to turn it off to get my GPRS connection back. Bit frustrating, been through connection setup and delete/setup network many times to no avail. What have I done... harrumph!

Why Disconnect data connection before activating WiFi?
I leave it on, still it will get data through WiFi is available.
If you disconnect data connection, you will not get data through data connection. (while you have WiFi activated, as you switch it off)
Have you tried using both at same time? Perhaps disconnecting data connection does a "trick" so you can not get data through WiFi too and you are now experiencing expected behaviour. (And that it did before was the wrong situation.)
i tried lots of stuff, soft resetting each time, I then did a full sync and backup to my home PC (work PC has firewall and stopps internet connection).
After that I did a cache cleaner and emptied a lot of trash, it did appear to be running slow. Did another soft reset and voila in the morning it was all working.
I played around with settings, double checked everything and to the best of my knowledge nothing had changed to cause this fault, so no idea if it was a problem with synching between the two PC's, work and home, or whether the cache cleaner did the bizness. Never had the problem repeat again since.
Have you tried getting settings from your provider again maybe something got wiped by accident.

It did indeed, thanks.
My Amaze is having some serious Mobile data (4g/2g) connectivity issues. The problem is this:
1. When turning the screen on, the notification bar shows no mobile data connection, regardless of how many bars I have. Mobile data connection is always enabled under quick settings, but for some reason the phone still can't establish a connection for quite some time, or until toggling mobile data on/off a few times.
2. After finally getting a connection, the phone has further problems connecting. Even though 4g/3g/2g icon is present on notification bar and mobile data is enabled in quick settings, using browser will return only "page not found" errors, and apps will not function properly due to them not having a network connection (foursquare and spotify most especially). Looking at the 4g icon on the notification bar, I can see the "up" arrow flashing as if the phone is sending data, but the "down arrow" is dead as a doornail, not lighting up or receiving anything back. This happens regardless of how many bars I have.
3. On the rare occasion that the phone's mobile data connection does work, it's super slow and acts more like 2g than 4g. Simple web pages take anywhere from around 30 seconds to a minute to load, and spotify cannot stream a song without having to buffer constantly.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Or had experience with it? Just in case your wondering, I haven't gone over my 5gb data plan yet (see attached image).
Issue resolved.
Apparently this problem is a combination of 2 glitches:
1. When upgrading to a new phone, despite how much data you used in your plan during the billing cycle, on the T-Mobile My Account website, the widget which shows how much data you've used will only reflect the data you've used on the currently activated device. Before I upgraded to the Amaze, I had exceeded my 5gb limit on my Nexus One and was being throttled by T-mobile to lower speeds. My next billing cycle doesn't start until Dec 27th, so despite the fact that I've only used about 70mb on my new Amaze, the 6 gb I already used on my Nexus One still counts for this month's billing cycle even though the T-Mobile website doesn't reflect it.
2. When throttling, the Amaze, which by default is set to WCDMA/GSM auto, is supposed to automatically switch itself off of 4g and only allow 3g/2g connections. It doesn't. For some reason, it stays with the 4g connection even though the connection is, at best, intermittent. This is the cause of the "page not found" errors and app network errors I was having.
So, for anyone else who is wondering how to remedy this, the fix is simple. Go into Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks>Network Mode, then tap "GSM only". This will cut off the problematic 4g connection while still allowing for 3g/2g connections. While noticeably slower (especially where I live, since the Florida panhandle only has 2g and 4g, no 3g), the mobile data connection is solid. Have yet to have any connection errors or experience any intermittency. Still, can't wait until the 27th when I can test out the full power of the 4g connection.
I have a verizon hotspot for the road so I have connection while traveling. It always worked great, however now on Android 5.1, half the time when the phone connects to the hotspot, it asks me to "Sign into network". I click the sign into network, and there is nothing to sign into and it connects.
The problem is, I am trying to make it all automatic. When I lose data from my carrier, Wi-Fi is turned on and connects to the hotspot. That's when the "Sign into network" pops up. If I don't click the the sign into network notification within a couple minutes, Android flags that network as having no internet, and won't automatically reconnect until I forget the network and connect to it again.
Does anyone know why android keeps asking to sign in to the network when there isn't anything to sign into? When I click sign into network, it brings up the sign in activity, shows a loading bar, then the sign activity goes away and I'm connected.
Perhaps there is a way to automatically 'click' the "Sign into Network" notification when it pops up?
I solved it. I'm not sure why Android keeps wanting me to login (perhaps the verizon hotspot is logging every connection, and Android sees that as a captive portal). Every time I got the "Sign into Wi-Fi network", it was when I still had some sort of mobile data connection. Now, because Android switches to mobile data if you need to sign in to a wifi, it never tries to get internet on the wifi until the user actually taps the notification to sign in.
Now, if there is NO mobile data connection (both wifi and mobile signals have an exclamation mark), Android will keep trying to gain access to the WiFi without user interaction. Because of the initial confusion, Android thinks I need to login to the hotspot, but if it would check again, it would see that there is access.
So the solution is to detect if there is a notification for "Sign into Wi-Fi network", and if there is, disable mobile network data until the Wi-Fi network is connected. I did this in a bit of a different way for my application, but the concept is the same.
This is the solution for all of those apps that automate WiFi logins with real captive portals that broke with Android 5. The only downside is they would now require root in order to disable mobile data.
