Hello all,
I'm new here, have read lots of the information available, but came here looking for an answer that I haven't found yet.
Situation is the following.
I got this Qtek2020 (or XDA II) from my dad who used it for his work. The reason he stopped using it is because the "phone" function itself is kind off acting weird.
Sometimes it is just nog possible to get into phone mode, neither of the two methods make te device display the dial pad...
- hitting the green button
- going Start-> phone
(It's kind off like a non responding program in windows when you want to execute it)
To make things clear, the phone works fine if we go to contacts and then choose the option to call the contact.
The question is, does this problem seem familiar and is there a way to fix it by for example putting a new rom on the device?
Any help or input about this is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
I think the HARD RESET should help . After a long... long work configuration data and other settings going to be ... melted . If U don't store on devise impotrant data just remove the battery for about 20 mins .
Is any Prophet version of WM6 that has no problems with loosing e-mails,WLM seetings, GPRS settings... and with seeing SD cards?

Well i do not have any of your problems.. So i think you are doing something wrong.. The problem with E-mail, WLM and GPRS settings is probably because you use the stylus to soft reset the phone. This makes the phone lose all its settings. Therefore i would suggest you use a program like PsShutXP. This program can soft reset like when you use the stylus, but it writes your changes to the registry before it resets, which makes your phone not loose your settings.. I had the same problem like you untill i began using psshutxp.
You could also just make a clean shutdown as soon as you have done your changes. Just hold the shut down button until a warning comes up, and then answer yes.. Then turn back on..
RE
What about WM6 stop responding. You have to use the pen for reset. This will may cause loosing those settings. This is not an acceptable solution. I use soft reset programs and it is true but othewise...
I have to reinstall everithing all the time. I'm loosing my patience. No one is able to remedy that problem?

Hi guys,
I am sure that you all know about MS WIndows, if you push the reset button on your computer, the running application and data will be lost.
Do the same with ur PDA, Just close your application after you used it (using task manager or something else), so if it is freeze your data still available in your PDA.
I hope it might be helped.
sorry if i have mistaken

I haven't seen anyrom yet that lets you be able to do this. But just make your changes (GPRS settings, WLM settings and more) and then shut down the device and after that turn it on again. Then you cant lose those settings.. And if it freezes, use the stylus, the settings that you have changed before the normal shutdown will still be saved.
RE
I know that but with one single notification... On PDA, mail is everytime opened and cannot be closed. Once you reset the device, will loose mail settings. All the data setting in your mail are stored in "cemail.vol". This cannot be saved because is opened all the time.

do you any application to close the application ? because if i use task manager, i can see the running application on my PDA, it is just a theory since i never use my PDA to open the email.
Cheers
I believe most people face this problem. I hv no solution to it, but I personally believe this is not a hardware prob and it can be solved. Hope to start this thread so everyone can discuss this together and come up with something.
got this from other thread...

put registry editor shortcut in \windows\startup
put wififix.reg in \Program Files
all this does is set the HTCPreloadwifi=1 everytime i need to reset my device. i think the problem is the value was resetted to 0 everytime you reset your device. That's why the wifi doesnt work. not sure if this works for everyone. but for me its working nearly everytime.

is this a good idea?
Pehaps it is useful to give some more specific details. Indeed there are several users that run in to these problems, but many more (including myself) never experienced any misbehaviour whatsoever. There must be a difference somewhere.....
i faced the prob which when u set the HTCPreloadwifi to 1, it revert back to 0 after soft reset. then i found that this is actually bcoz of the file "WiFiInit", which is in the startup. so i removed it from the startup, set the HTCPreloadwifi to 1, then power off and on it instead of soft reset (soft reset might work, just play safe.)

rondol1, will you stay here in this thread. who knows, we might spot the difference between your "working" device and our "half-working" device. appreciate that.
The point is, I never changed anything after flashing the ROM and WIFI works right away. I have noticed that with WEP encryption enabled things don't go that smooth. Without security OR with WPA enabled, I don't experience any problems with WIFI. About Bluetooth, I really don't use it, only to connect my TomTom GPS receiver and that give no problem whatsoever. But that comparison isn't fair, cos the TomTom app takes care of it by itself, without the general WM6 settings.
Perhaps it's good to mention that I use the latest WM6 builds, I red your post in some threads from older ROM's too. Could be that those earlier release had more bugs on this point.
i'm using Fantastic Mobiz v2.0b4....actually wanna to load up other new wm6, but instead of avoiding, i think we shd try to solve the problem..
anyway, i am thinking about whether there is anything wrong with the registry that caused the prob, or any 3rd party software that is interrupting the bluetooth's functioning. is there any way to "compare" the registries?
I don't know, but I hardly use any 3d-party software. And about solving the probs on early WM6 builds: isn't that a Microsoft job? If there is a problem in the OS, we don't gonna solve it by changing some regs!

haha...ya...but i meant a cooked version of wm6. the developer might hv added something which works on his but not on others. any assumption hv to take into consideration. i guess that is how most probs are solved.
seems like no one patronize this thread...ahah , anyway i will still try to update what i've discovered until the next version of rom is up. who knows, people might be desperate and found this thread. i just hope someone will join in the discussion or i will look like a bloody fool who participates in my own thread.
right now, i insert btdwake and btlauncher to my startup folder. it works most of the time (not sure it works bcoz of the files that i put in the startup folder).
i still think that it might be a registry problem. will compare the registry with a working set's one of these days.
I've got also a problem when trying to enble Wifi, what you've done exactly? Does it works?

hi Gaexu. well...it is easy to make things work, but problem lies on the steps that make them work. enabling my wifi is fine, but not perfect.
I suppose your prob is when u go to comm manager, click on the "Wlan", then u see the radar (loading), after that, nothing happened, the icon still show the grey icon with the cross.
steps:
1.)first you gotta remove a file called "WiFiInit" from \windows\startup\ folder.
2.)next, go to the registry using PHM Registry Editor. go to HKLM\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms, there are 2 reg dwords - "HTCPreloadStatus" and 'HTCPreloadWifi". change their value to "1".
3.)power off the device and on it back.
the reason to remove "WiFiInit" from startup is bcoz it seems to cause "HTCPreloadStatus" value to revert back to "0" after a soft reset. actually i've remove a few more things from startup, but i dun think there is any "linkage".
sorry about this, but don't expect the wifi to be enabled as easy before upgrading (at least not for me). to enable the wifi for the first time (after you soft reset everytime), go to comm manager, click on WLAN. then the radar thingy comes out, rotate a few round and disappear. while it is rotating, observe the "G" on top, it changes to the wifi icon and revert back to the "G". that means wifi is detected. click on WLAN again, and same thing will happen. now, push the on/off button to black out the screen(standby mode) and turn on again. wifi comes alive.
i am too long winded. this is my first time in my life typing more than 6 lines in a forum. do let me know if it doesn't work. good luck.
Thanks for your help
The Wifi works, but just for about 30seconds or 1minute... then it turns off
does anyone know this problem?
I will try it again and again,
thanks

hv u change the value in the registry?
Yes, "HTCPreloadStatus" and 'HTCPreloadWifi" have the decimal value 1.
HTCResumeWifi = 0
I will retry it with another network (not the one from my University) maybe it works...
Gaexu, so how's your bluetooth? working perfectly?
i looked through the registry and found that many of the bluetooth keys are incomplete after comparing with other devices...but i need to extract more info from a workin prophet...
Hi scarymoviesg
Now my Wifi works perfekt (not with the one from the University but with all the others)
Thanks a lot!!!!!

not sure here. i think it just started. wakes up like a text message is going to occur, or maybe an incomin phone call, but then nothin happens, and it eventually cuts back off by default.
i also notice something that keeps comin back when i end it, and i don't know if i put it there to begin with.
it's like ceObSvr .. it's always running, and if i kill it, it will likely come back. anything?
i know i tried searching but that doesn't apear to for some people.. just doesn't
Cheers!
edit:
NATF v4.6s, lumos, it's a fuze, radio leaked 25.19, that's it i think
My CDMA Touch Pro wakes up time to time due to low signal strength. I'm not sure if it is only limited to CDMA, so try turning radio off for a while.

Dear Wdkingery,
Are you using Bluesoleil Bluetooth on you pc/laptop ? have you installed IVT-wm(1.0.2) on your mobile device?
if yes !
then CeObSvr is a programe that is used by IVT Blusoleil Software to transfer data from your mobile to pc/laptop & pc to mobile.
you can remove this file from mobile by going to settings - system and remove programs. *don't remove if you are using bluetooth with your pc for exchanging data.
Best Regards
Kip
All credits goes to myn. Here is the original thread [ROM] Myn’s Warm Eclair - [RLS1 - 06/17/2010] - An Accelerated Experience
Confirm working good on my NIKE100 on ext2 SD, so withour flashing, i can use Winmo n Android on the same device.
How to:
1. Download from the original thread, i'm using NoMORootFS for SD with 240x320 version
2. Backup! than, clear whatever "android" stuff you have from sdcard (I dont want it to get caught up in the install) especially your andboot folder
3. Extract contents of downloaded zip to temporary directory
4. Copy extracted /andboot folder to the ROOT of your SDCard
5. copy zimage to /andboot folder with this version (credit to mblaster) get in from http://84.23.71.227/kerneloftheday (i'm using zimage with vibration on my nike100 with zimageNike name)
6. overwrite default.txt with attached default.txt
7. Run HaRET, than hit “run” to launch android
8. Press and hold center of dpad after hitting "run" and follow the directions in the NoMoRootFs menu system
9. Install android system
10. Quit installer
11. Booting into Android
12. After you can see android logo wait about 15 minute
13. then shutdown and open up your phone again (should boot into winmo)
14. start haret and boot again to android
15. your android is ready to use
Working: Call, sms, ring, data (although there seems to be a little problem)
Not Working: Bluetooth, camera
Great job and a good tutorial buddy, I defenitly gonna give it a try.
ok, try it and share here, maybe it can make us nike user more familiar with android
Nice... But!
Nice one there. There is seems problem with the hardware keypad. The hardawre keypad works though keypad #1 when pressed twice sleeps nike. Maybe the said button is mapped for that function. Better if we can bring it back to the original function. Thanks again.
uhm...
Hey,
I copied everything onto my SDcard, into the /andboot directory
Haret.exe starts, holding the D-pad...Linux starts etc, but...then it hangs with an error "sh: 2 unkown operand
losetup: /dev/block/loop1: No such file or directory
Failed
Failed to reach system.img on SD card"
And from there on every button I press gives my weird syntax...
anybody knows what I'm doing wrong..?
Installed on ext2 partitions, now take some tests on my nike 100.
Problems I found:
- On boot I have Voice Search not responding.
- If I try to set mms settings the apn disappear (i use Wind in Italy), setting only apn and name work (i'm syncronizing with gmail)
Thanks a lot for this tutorial!
Many thanks for this post.
Three questions:
You are using kernel with vibration for niki200/300 on your nike100 and your screen dont freeze?
What's the problem with data connections?
It's android 1.6?
Regards!

what do you mean by keypad #1? hardware numeric and alphabetically works on me.
and the android device keypad is different with winmo, in android there are back, menu, end key (CMIIW). so we need to map our device keypad to android one

The APN editing issue is caused from the paid market enabler script that is running as a service. It is trumping changes made to the APN list.
I am going to talk to dzo about making the same changes he made in the Donut ril for me. This should hopefully eliminate this issue.
The Voice Search Wait/Force close on start is a known issue and unfortunately in this build is more of an annoyance. For now just click the "Wait" button.
Okay, tested it today almost the whole day, started with full battery at 08.00, very surprised about the graphics and the response of my Niki, lot's of stuff are working, internet connection worked, hardware keypad was working normally, Gmail working, incoming and outgoing call's working, sms working.
Only tested those things because it's a phone and those things are the most important for a phone (my opinion).
Try to acces my sim-card to add contacts but wasn't able to do that.
Okay at 19.45 my battery is empty, be aware my battery is 3 years old.
Conclusion, for me it is a perfect working phone, sometimes you need a little bit patience to let the phone do his job.
Thanks youngsien

no, system.img is created in /andboot when installing, no need to copy file "system.img". here is the step i usually use. when starting haret and hit run, lot of text (linux boot style) come out. ok from now press and hold center d-pad, after some page it will halt with the message "press center d-pad to....." then release your 1st d-pad hold then press and hold once again. you should see some weird code on your screen but that's ok. after that you will come to installer screen to make system.img and data.img on your sd.
hope you understand, sorry for my english

Darn.
I think it actually already has CDMA functionality since this came from the Vogue thread, but I'm not unsure as to how to get the default.txt file right so that it will boot. Does anybody know of a guide to the the android linux boot commands? It's possible that the devices differ enough to require some different commands.

theoritically is right, but i don't know about that, do you ever asked mblaster on his nike myn donut thread?he is more master in this, because he can compile zimage kernel for nike. maybe he know the answer.
Hi all, I've tested yesterday and this morning...
I found it unstable, after I have set the apn I tried to sync with gmail accont, but never work (always "problem with the sync" reported).
Sending and receiving sms work, make calls work difficult, sometimes i heard but on the other side doesn't hear me.
I try to reinstall and don't set the APN, but anything solved.
Last, after reinstall, when I call it goes to sleep mode but no more wake up (using camera button twice, or other buttons).
I'll do more test, hope this can help.
Bye
p.s. sorry, I speak english only a little bit
Hi all,
Nice build...
Anyway, although it's very hard to resist, imho it's a good idea to wait a few more days until Myn releases the next Versions. If you follow the original Thread in the Vogue forum, you'll see that there are still a lot of problems even for the Vogue Users. For that reason it's probably a good idea to wait until the big one's have been fixed...
