No Radio Version, No Protocol Version !!! Help Plz - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I have a HTC HERM200, I did a hard reset, the problem is that no radio version and no protocol version displayed device information in parameters and of course impossible to operate my pocket pc as a phone and call using it !
I tried the hard spl 7.
for the 'info 7', this is the result :
HTC Integrated Re-Flash Utility, Common Base Version : 1.51d
Device Name: HERM100, Bootloader Version : 2.10.Olipro
Built at: Apr 22 2007 13:32:26
Copyright (c) 1998-2007 Modified By Olipro - Hard-SPL
CPU ID=0x41129200
Main CPLD version=0x5
Upper CPLD version=0x4
Main Board version=0x6
(in windows, my version of herm is 200, here with the info_7 command it is herm100 !)
when typing 'rtask a', the answer is always command error !!!
how can I install the radio and is there a good version of WM6 compatible with my reference ?? if you can help me this will great for me
thanks !!!

Try reinstalling the shipped rom. You can also try a radio only rom but if neither of these 2 things work, you have a brick on your hands...
Sorry...

reinstalling shipped rom
thanks ultramag69 for your reply,
where can I download a good functional and compatible version for the shipped rom to my herm200 and how to proceed. I tried different version with unsuccess.
I tryed the 'HERM_Radinly_1.56.70.11_CustomRUU' using my sdcard proceeding with renaming the file .nbh to HERMIMG.nbh, the setup stopped at about 10%, and still there for more then 2 hours !!
installing with the usb cable stop always with error#262!
I wish I have a brick on your hands, this means that there is a way to recover the phone operational state !!

"Shipped ROM" means the rom that came on your Hermes. Generally a carrier has its own rom (you should be able to find on the carriers website).
Since you have Hard SPL on your Hermes use the sd card method.
1. format sd card fat32, copy .nbh file onto it & rename to "hermimg.nbh". Put back in Hermes.
2. Reset into bootloader - hold power,, ok button above flywheel and reset with stylus. hold in until tri-colour screen comes up.
3. If you did 1st 2 steps properly then follow the prompts.
This may take a while for the radio to install so give about 20-30 mins. Make sure you do this with a charged battery.
If this doesn't work then I'm sorry, but you have a brick...
You can still install an OS only rom but you won't have phone functionality again...
You can also try a radio only rom.. Above conditions apply...
Good Luck.

G4 dead (really) after downgrade

Hi,
I spent 6-7 hours of reading all kind of suggestions and etc, how to bring a brick to life. the only closest to my situation is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295623
I flashed my phone several times and i hadnt much of problems until i tried to put wm6 update.
The last time I tried to downgrade to CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE and the phone freezed to the start screen (that picture with the beer). I restarted it several times but it never went beyond it.
Then I tried to put the previous ROM that worked. I entered bootload mode and started the upgrade wizard. I waited it to finish, but it didnt! When it reached 98% it suddenly got back to 95%(!?) and after few seconds a message for connecition interupted appeared on the computer. The phone stayed on 95% for some time more and nothing happened. Then i clicked on the "how to restore" button of the upgrade wizard. I followed the instructions which stated on step 3 "remove the battery of the phone".
After I did that, my phone died and since then i cant do anything with it. The screen is all black. Of course I tried hard reset, bootloader mode and etc - all failed. It doesnt go into bootloader mode or do hard reset. The computer does not detect any USB connections. The charger doesnt appear to be detected by the phone (LED doesnt light up). There should be 50-60% battery power left. It was working perfectly before flashing.
I think the main problem now is how to enter the Bootloader.
Im not quite familiar with SD flashing, but i think i have the necessary hardware, just please advise is it possible and how I can do it.
Edit: Now I found that my SD card is unreadable too
Please help
Sorry
Greetings,
Sorry for your situation, but do you have G4 or G3 wizard.

edit: i now remember that IPL & SPL had different versions like 1.x & 2.x after downgrading. I didnt know that I have to reflash in that case i found it in the forum too late
You should have read more before trying to flash your phone...
That downgrade that you made bricked your phone. That ROM was intended for G3 ONLY. If you have a G4 you should flash only G4-ROMS (or read how to extract ipl & spl from a G3 ROM) ... I am afraid there are no known solutions, because IPL and SPL on a G4 can`t be succesfully upgraded/reflashed (the hardware doesn`t allow that)

so how i did broke them in the first place?
anyway i'm trying to cook a SD card image, but the typhoon 5 tool doesnt convert the files to sd image format
Code:
C:\work>typho5.exe -r ipl=nk.nbf -d az.img
read 04741800 for ipl from nk.nbf
no IPL at 4 in IPL image
my idea is to either get a packeded file with all the modules or put them to the SD card one by one at the appropriate offset as it is described in the Wiki (using the winhex disk editor). Is the *.nb format the same as the modules in the SD card image? I mean can i directly paste the contents of the .nb files into the apropriate offset to the empty SD card?
Your only solutions are to get a new board or to get a JTAG device and discover the JTAG pins on the board since it's the only way you can access the flash chip without a bootloader. Problem is until now no one has managed to find the JTAG pins (or bothered).
What you have done was flashing an IPL (Initial Program Loader) that is for G3 DOC chips only (with a 130 nm manufacturing process) ; and since you have a G4 DOC chip (90 nm manufacturing process) the process fails.
This is the IPL:
A small XIP memory (ROM, NOR flash or DiskOnChip boot block) that contains code to
perform minimal system initialization: It must at least initialize the chip-select unit so that
the ROM (if any), RAM, and DiskOnChip can be accessed.

3.2. The Boot Process
• Power up and initialization: After system power up, the IPL code that resides on the XIP
block of the DiskOnChip is executed. The IPL code initializes the DiskOnChip controller
and the RAM.
• Copying the SPL code from DiskOnChip to RAM: After initialization, the IPL reads and
loads the SPL code from the DiskOnChip binary partition to RAM. It then jumps to the SPL
start address in RAM and executes the SPL.
Notes: 1. In general, the IPL is limited in size to several KB (the size limitation varies,
depending on the device type), so it is not possible to include both the system
initialization code and the error correction code. The absence of the error correction
code in the IPL is the reason why the boot process is divided into the IPL stage and
SPL stage. The actual loading of the OS image to RAM is done by the SPL code.
Since the SPL runs in the system RAM, there is no limit on code size and it can
include the error correction code.

As you can see on step 2 the IPL can't load SPL since they are for different chip versions.
cheers

yes, it seems that happened, but after flashing the g3 version, the phone still enters the bootloader. It died completely AFTER i tried to return the g4 version, and may be all happened because it didnt finish the instalation (which interupted for no reason) and stayed with messed up versions.
Anyway seems I need a new mobo, but i'm not sure i could find it here (i'm from Bulgaria) the closest vodafone store is in Romania. The phone is from Germany, a friend of mine bought it there.

Model No. says H instead of HERM200

He Guys,
Just my luck I have bought an HTC Tytn with the original Dutch rom and sim unlocked second hand.
I wanted to put a new Dutch rom from HTC on it but I keep on getting the ERROR [244] : INVALID MODEL ID but what I don`t understand is I have used the original Dutch rom from HTC. So I checked the device information and under the tab identity it says;
Model No.: H
Platform: PocketPC
IMEI: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Shouldn’t the Model No. be HERM200?
Has anyone any suggestions in how I can solve this problem so I can flash any rom I wish.
I have tried al the cid unlock programs I could find and in bootloader it says;
H
IPL-1.01
H
SPL-1.40.Olipro
Thanks in advanced.
Use RAR to unpack the Original Dutch ROM.
Take the NBH file that you get when you unpack the ROM.
Put it in a folder with CUSTOM_RUU from Olipro.
Run CUSTOM_RUU and it will load up the ROM from the NBH file, bypassing the CID check. Should work
Thanks for the reply,
I have tried what you suggested but I still get ERROR [244] : INVALID MODEL ID I have also read these posts http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322231&highlight=CUSTOM_RUU+from+Olipro and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322119&highlight=CUSTOM_RUU+from+Olipro and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309707&highlight=CUSTOM_RUU+from+Olipro and tried these suggestions but every time I get the error message. The radio update process was the same for me it will go to 7% and then give the message ERROR [244] : INVALID MODEL ID.
I have also tried the HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a and Hard-SPL-V7 but still get the error message.
I hope I’m doing something wrong if not then I hope you have a new suggestion.
Thanks in advance.
Please set your device in BOOTLOADER MODE and post here your IPL / SPL versions.

Ups, missed the bottom - thought it is the signature already! Sorry, haven't had my coffee yet!
Well, looks like the device is CID unlocked!
How about trying to flash an entire cooked ROM?
i would suggest the following:
flash a cooked rom (any)
see if that makes any difference to your model id
then try and flash the native dutch rom
good luck
Hi Guys,
As you suggested I tried a cooked rom the Hermes_WM6_vanilla still get the same error message when I put my device manually in boot loader it shows;
H
IPL-1.01
H
SPL-1.40.Olipro
But as soon as I try an official or cooked rom it shows;
H
IPL-SSPL by des
H
SPL-1.09.ds
I’m now trying Schaps_WM6Pro_WWE_4.00_Full_Beta3.exe and choose for auto detect and it said 1.40 Olipro and in boot loader it shows;
H
IPL-1.01
H
SPL-1.40.Olipro
And after 1% I got the ERROR [244] : INVALID MODEL ID message again.
I think my options are getting slim.
Your ModelID is stored on NAND and can be edited quite trivially (mostly).
how it got corrupted I don't know, however, the important question is; can you get into the OS?
He Olipro,
The device it zelf works perfect I can go anywhere I want even in the OS.
Just lead the way.
Changing Model ID
I have a similar problem in that my Model ID got corrupted during a radio upgrade. I now get the same error (244) and am stuck on SPL2.10 and can't downgrade to fix it. Can anyone tell us how to manually change the model ID in the NAND?
Much appreciated.
Dumping NAND
Ok, I'm a relative newbie so appologies before I get flamed. Thanks Olipro for giving me a clue.
I have now got spl 2.60 on my device but am unsure how to dump the NAND. I've worked out how to dump the 3 partitions from the device to dump the OS but am still unclear which part of the device is the NAND. I've read the Wiki on the memory map but am still not too sure.
Anyone able to give me simple instructions to dump the NAND and once I've done that where abouts is the ModelID stored? Do I do this using mtty?
Thanks in advance.

NAND Dump
Thanks Drummer for pointing me in the right direction.
Ive done this bit:
BTW, if you want to do a full backup of you FULL eeprom nand at any time, connect as before and type these commands:
plink HERMES > full.nb (hit ENTER twice)
task 32 (hit ENTER once and only once from now on after every command)
password 0000000000000000 - My device password is BsaD5SeoA which I used instead.
set 1e 1
rbmc me.txt 50000000 7fff800
watch your file grow to 128 MB.
It creates a full.nb file but it stays at 1k!!
** Note I have copied the bootloader file for spl 2.60 on my Hermes and ran that so I can now use that versino instead of the 2.10 thats on my device if that makes a difference and have tried with no joy with either version. Yes I know it says to use 2.30 but I can't work out how to get that on my device due to the ModelID error.
The Model number is contained within the herm1.nb file that was posted by BusStop in that thread. No need for complete NAND reflashing, only that section. You'll see it using a Hex Editor. You should write down your WiFi MAC addess, so you can edit it before flashing the file with the corrected Model number. Now you just have to figure out how to get SPL 1.01 MFG on your device...
Thanks Drummer. I did try flashing the herm1.nb file but of course as I do not have SPL 1.01 MFG it gievs an error. I'll keep trawling through the site and see if I can work out how to get SPL 1.01 onto my device. I'm not going to let this damn device beat me.
Ok so I worked out how to get the ModelID using getdevicedata. Used nbhtool to create a vaild nbh using the ModelID I'd just got and used the spl from 2.30 and it updated that fine.
Excellent.
However did the same with the MFG1.01 and flashed it and......
I now have a dead brick, no power and no response form usb. Time to get a replacement device.
Thanks for all the help I've had. I'm sure it should have worked.
1.) Remove battery
2.) Connect Hermes to charger or USB
3.) Insert the battery while Hermes is connected to charger
4.) Red light should turn Amber
5.) Soft Reset
Thanks for the advice Drummer however:
1.) Remove battery
2.) Connect Hermes to charger or USB
3.) Insert the battery while Hermes is connected to charger
4.) Red light should turn Amber - Nope red light goes out!
Mne shows HHHHHHH
Hi all, i've upgraded my radio and after my model id changed to H.
So, reading some posts i've used NBHTOOL.
1.I've decompiled an original Italian ROM
2.i've obtained a custom nbh selecting only OS and EXTROM and changing my Model number.
3. after that i've flashed the nbh resulting into a write error at 84% and a bricked htc.
Luckily i was able to reflash roms and i processed to second experiment.
I've made a custom rom with only the os, and it WORKED!
so my questions are:
1. can i use my htc even if my external rom isn't flashed (it cames from an old Schaps 4.0 succesful flash)
2. It is safe to proceed installing bootloader SPL using the nbhtool like i did with the os?
In that case i will be able to fix the model id problem by flashinh spl 1.01 and using the wireless fixing method you posted..
Thanks in advance for your reply!
Hi
From my understanding the Ext rom is mainly used for carriers to install there specific addons and customizations so it shouldn't be a problem.
As you can see I did flash spl 2.30 using this method and it worked fine ti was only when something whent wrong flashing 1.01 that my problem happened but I think that may be that I used an nbs file instead of an nb file from what I've read since.
Good luck.
Edit: Just noticed someone on this thread has managed it by going straight ot 2.60 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322225

Error 260

Just got Hermes vodafone with German language and successfully loaded hardspl and have it in supercid. Now i want to upgrade to english version, but i keep getting error 260. PDA stays in RGB mode and saying USB. If i disconnect the cable it switches to Serial.
I have tried to update with
vodafone 1.20.161.6 aku 2.3
vodafone 2.07.161.1 aku 3.3
htc 1.35.255.102 aku 2.3
they all report the same. Have tried rebooting computer as said in wiki, but no success.
i now use original
HERM200
ROM 1.20.126.3
RADIO 1.16.00.0
any idea?
Thanks
Are you sure it is a supercid? Write the SPL, can you boot os?
Yes, i can boot os fine.
SPL-1.40.Olipro
IPL-1.01
I did supercid procedure with success....at least i thoughts so. It's my fist upgrade, so anything is possible. I used HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlock - v3a
Thanks
I have the same problem with my second-hand JASJAM. The only way I can flash ROMs on my phone is by using RUUWrapper and select force SSPL and this always works well.
COME ON people!!!
A simple search would have remedied this...its been a topic so many times now!
The reason the official RUUs wont work correctly is because of the fact that HardSPL has been loaded, hence the SPL version isnt recognised, you gotta flash the official .nbh file using CustomRUU.
But first update to the latest version of HardSPL (see the sticky thread).
When you run the customRUU program select your SPL version (or use autodetect) and off you go!.
EDIT:: to get you started, Hardspl is HERE.....flash it.
then open the RUU with winzip or winrar and copy over the .nbh file into a folder.
download CUSTOMRUU.....run it from that folder with your device synced over activesync....select your SPL and voila.
Silly fella's. Its alright though I used to make the same mistake. I think im better friends with the search feature on here than I am with my real friends. You can always rely on the the WIKI or the search.
Thanks for help mrvanx i manage to flash with no problems now.
Promise to read more wiki next time
My problem was the same described in this post (too recent SPL).
I similar problem only difference is now phone wont go out of boot mode as its not recognised by active syn or in the rom update procedure.
Please help urgently cannot restore phone...and i dont know how
If you have Hard SPl V7 installed, try to re-install the rom, or a different one using the sd card method.
1. Format 2Gb or less sd card FAT32 and copy .nbh file onto it. Rename to hermimg.nbh .
2. Insert into Hermies and reset into bootloader, hold power, OK button under flywheel and reset with stylus hold all buttons in until you get to tri-colour (bootloader) screen.
3. Follow onscreen instructions...
Cheers...

[GUIDE] Step by Step Guide for Upgrading P3400 and P3400i ROM + FAQs

Hello Everyone!
This is a step by step guide for unlocking the SPL of your HTC P3400 or P3400i.Please read and follow everything given here carefully and you will have your phone unlocked within 15 minutes.
This is a step taken in order to minimize the accidental bricking scenerios happening almost everyday here.
The Guide is divided into 2 Parts, A FAQ section and the Unlocking Guide Section. I request you to please read all of this before doing any furthur steps. ROM Flashing can be very dangerous if not done properly.
Enjoy!
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) Read Carefully Please
Q1. What is the basic information about my phone that i would need to get started with this process or for troubleshooting?
Ans. The basic information that you need is displayed on the white htc splash screen that shows up when you start your phone. This inludes:
ONBL version, SPL version, GSM or Radio version and OS version.
Apart from that, you will also need the serial number of your device. This can be found behind the battery on your device or on one side of the packaging box in which your device came.
An optional thing that may come handy is the version number of your ROM which can be found by going to Start > Settings > System > Device Information. Look for the ROM Version there.
Q2. What is SPL, Why it needs patching, and what are the things i need to keep in mind?
Ans. SPL or Second Program Loader is a part of your phone's firmware. Its responsible for both loading of operating system and it is also used by operating system for some low level tasks. By Default, HTC and Other Manufacturers too, design it in such a way that it does not allows custom ROMs to be flashed in the phone. It does no by checking for the Digital Signature of HTC on roms. So it need to be patched in order to flash custom ROMs made by chefs in this forum.
There are two SPLs available right now for P3400 and P3400i. One is Olipro's SPL for Old Gene and Second is Orefkov's SPL for New Gene. These should be used according to the device they are meant for. Using wrong SPL can make your device dead.
One more thing is, SPL is needed to be updated just once. Only one of the given SPLs will work for you and you will never need to patch it again. This is true for those situations too when you flash a rom and your phone does not boots past the White HTC splash screen. In that case too, As you have just flashed an incompatible ROM, you just need to use another, compatible ROM to get your phone back. NEVER UPDATE YOUR SPL ONCE IT IS PATCHED BY EITHER OF THE METHODS
Q3. How can i be sure which version i need to use, i am not sure whether i have an old gene or new gene?
Ans. Earlier it was being thought that one can differentiate between New Gene and Old Gene on the basis of Onbl and Serial Nos. But this has not found to be true as evident from many cases of bricking.
One of the possible checks for knowing that is if your phone originally came with Windows Mobile 5, its probably an old gene, and If it came with Windows Mobile 6, its probably an New Gene. However, this is also not a concrete basis to decide the version of SPL.
So i recommend to follow these steps, These should work for any Gene without problem.
1. Use the Olipro method first. It will work properly if your device is an old gene.
2. If it fails and your phone becomes dead, just follow the instructions for using Gene Unbricker for new gene and your phone will be back again. This way, your new gene will be flashed with Orefkov's method.
Q4. Are there any precautions that i need to take when selecting a ROM for flashing to my device?
Ans. Yes, there are indeed some things that you need to keep in mind before making mind to flash a ROM.
1. Make sure your SPL is patched, ie. On boot screen it should have either SPL 1.10.Olip displayed in case of an old gene OR SPL 1.07.Oref in case of a new gene. If it is not, patch it using the Guide given below. If it is, dont ever try to patch it again.
2. After patching your SPL you will become sure that whether your phone is a new gene or old, because of knowing the version of SPL that worked for you. Now, never choose a ROM which is not built for your phone. Only use ROMs appropriate for you phone. And if you ever accidently flash a ROM of wrong version, dont panic. Just flash another ROM for your version and your phone will be back.
3. In general, never try to downgrade your ROM. Means if your original ROM was WM 5 and you upgraded to WM 6 or 6.1 Dont try to downgrade to WM5. This is specially true for WM 5 because of reasons i'll explain later.
Q5. Why is it not recommended to downgrade the OS version, ie. moving to a previous ROM version?
Ans. There is no problem actually in doing so. But there are some situations that needs to be taken care of. What happens is, Somtimes, the previous version of Original ROMs from htc, contain the older version of SPL that is very specifically made for that version of ROM.So if you flash this ROM, your SPL will again become locked. This is specially true for original WM 5 ROMs
In case your phone came with WM5 originally, and the version of ROM exactly with the one that was originally on your device, It wont give any problem. But if this ROM is not exactly the version your phone originally came with, this will brick your device and you'll have to take it to service center. No homemade solutions works then.
Even bigger problem arises when your phone came with Wm 6 originally and you try to downgrade it to WM 5. This will certainly brick your device and force you to take it to service center. SO DONT EVER TRY TO DOWNGRADE A GENE TO WM5 IF IT ORIGINALLY CAME WITH WM 6.
ROMs created by users here do not contain the ONBL, SPL and GSM parts (dont worry about the names). These only contain the OS part which is safe to use.
Q6. What are the things i can try if i get a problem while this process?
Ans. You shouldn't get any trouble if you take all the precautions, but even if you do, you can try :
1. If your gene is bricked by Olipro SPL, use the gene unbricker for new gene by Orefkov.
2. If you flashed your phone with a ROM made by some user on this forum and it doesn't works, just flash another version of the ROM or some other compatible ROM. NO need to touch anything else.
3. If you downgraded/Upgraded using any of the Original HTC ROMs and your phone is bricked, try the JTAG Method by Orefkov. Search for it, you'll easily find it. If even that doesn't helps, Take your device to service center.
Q7. What is bootloader mode, and how do i enter it?
Ans. Bootloader mode is a special mode which is use to flash ROMs. Bootloader is the part of your phone's firmware that kicks in even before SPL and initializes it. You may need to enter this mode while patching your SPL or sometimes while flashing a ROM. To do that, Shutdown your phone, Press and Hold the Camera Button and press the power button or the soft reset key using your stylus. This will take you to a 3 colored screen with your Onbl and SPL version displayed on it. This is called the Bootloader mode.
Q8. What is Hard Reset and Soft Reset and how to do it?
Ans. Soft reset is a second name for restarting your phone. It can be done using power button too but sometimes, when the phone is hanged, it needs to be done by pressing the soft reset key, situated in a small hole near the mini usb port you use for charging and headfone, using your stylus. Your phone will restart immediately without any harm. But if you have any unsaved data, like an open, edited word file or a text message half written and not saved, they will be lost. But all your saved data is safe.
Hard reset is something that needs to be done when there is some problem with the phone that is not being solved using any standard method or restarting the phone. This method erases all the files and data in phone memory (not SD card) and makes your phone as it came new from factory or just after a fresh ROM upgrade. You'll loose all your emails, calender items, Todo list, sms, contacts etc. But most of the problems get solved using this. So before using this, backup your PIM data using utilities like PIM Backup by dotfred etc.
To do a hard reset, shutdown your phone, Press and hold the two soft keys (the keys above the call accept and call reject keys) and press the reset button using stylus. A black screen will appear warning you about the consequesnces. Press the Green key (call accept key) to start the process.
The Step By Step Guide
The Step By Step Guide
CAUTION: DO NOT UPDATE ROM OF A PHONE THAT IS SIM LOCKED. THE RESULTS ARE UNKNOWN BUT MOST OF THE TIMES IT PREVENTS YOU FROM USING THE PHONE ANY FURTHUR!!
If you like to backup your existing rom first, follow this guide by Ankit360 to do it : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3215838&postcount=20
Step 1: Download the Tools
-------------------------------
Download the tools zip file from here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/81084740/fa599d63/SPL_Unlocking_Tools.html
Its a self extracting file, just start it and give a path and it will unzip all the files in your chosen folder. Inside the extracted folder you will find these things:
1. SPL Updater : Inside it there are 2 folders, Olipro and Orefkov. These contain the two SPL patchers that we need to use.
2. ROM Update Utility : This contains the ROM update utility we will need to flash a ROM. Unzip it into a folder.
3. USBDriver4ActiveSyncVista : This contains a special driver for Windows Mobile Device Center in Vista that you need to use to successfully update your ROM. Unzip it in a folder too.
4. Download a ROM appropriate for your device: Which one is appropriate, you'll only know after updating your SPL. So do this step after that. But in any case, here is a link to a good ROM, created by me, which is available for both new and old gene:
Sumit's Pro Users ROM (WM 6.1, for new and old gene)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467796
Step 2: Preparing your phone
--------------------------------
1. Copy the file gene_hspl.exe from the SPL Updater\Olipro folder that you got in step 1 to the phone memory.
2. First, on your phone, Go to Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC. Here, uncheck the checkbox : enable advance nerwork functionality. Click OK. Disconnect and Reconnect the USB cable to your pc.
Step 3: Prepare your Computer (Please pay attention, this is crucial!)
--------------------------------
XP Users
----------
There is not much you need to do. Just open task manager and kill the Active Sync executable from the processes tab. Its named as wcescomm.exe.
Vista/Windows 7 Users
-------------
You need to take these steps :
1. Go to desktop, right click Computer, and select Manage. Go to Device Manager. Now under the section Mobile Devices, Double Click : Smartphone USB Sync.
2. On the Drivers tab, click "Update Driver..." button. On next screen click : "Browse my computer for driver software".
3. Click : "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computers". Click "Have Disk.." on next screen. Click "Browse..." and go to the folder extracted in step 1. There, go to USBDriverforActiveSyncVista folder. Here select the file "wceusbsh.inf" and click OK.
4. Click Next and finish the wizard.
NOte : YOU NEED TO DO THIS TO SEE THE "USB" BUTTON IN MTTY WINDOW IN LATER STEPS. DONT SKIP IT!
Step 4: Use the Olipro method first.
-----------------------------------------
Open File manager on your phone. Go to the location on phone memory where you saved gene_hspl.exe. Tap on it to run it. Your phone will restart after a short pause.
Now there are two chances :
a) If its done alright, you'll see SPL 1.10.Olip on your boot screen and your phone will boot just fine. And it confirms that you have an old gene. You do not need to do Step5. Proceed to Step 6.
b) If it doesn't boots, and only green and red keys blink, Don't worry. Your phone is bricked but you'll get it back using orefkov's method in a minute. Proceed to next step. And this confirms that you have a new gene.
Step 5: Use the Orefkov Unlocker
------------------------------------
1. Remove the battery, SIM card and SD Card of your phone and press the Power key for 20 seconds to draw out any residual power from the phone.
2. Replace the battery but not the SIM and SD card, and don't start the phone yet. Press and hold the Camera button and then press the Power button or Soft Reset button. Phone will come to boot loader mode (tricolor screen) and SPL 1.10.Olip will be displayed.
3. Connect the USB cable. The text USB will appear on the bottom of the screen.
4. On PC, go to the folder Orefkov in the folder extracted in step 1 and run the Mtty1_42.exe. Press the button "USB" in the window that opened.
5. In the window that opened, type the following command (don't use copy paste please) and press enter:
Code:
set 32 1
You'll see a response from phone.
6. Type the following command BUT DON'T PRESS ENTER YET:
Code:
ls boot.bin
Note : that is small L and small s in that command, dont mistake it with I.
Now, hold down the Camera button on phone, and press the enter key on computer. After a while, the screen will become White. Continue pressing the Camera button for 10 more seconds.
7. Now release the camera button, close the MTTY program and run ROMUpdateUtility.exe in the same folder, not the one outside it. That one is for RAM flashing that we will use later. Check the boxes in each step and click Next Next and then at last Update. Let it finish the process. Your phone will restart.
8. Now on the splash screen you'll see the info with updated SPL version. The version of SPL will be 1.07.Oref.
Congrats! you have successfully patched your SPL.
Step 6: Flash the ROM
---------------------------
Now let the phone boot once and then shutdown it. Insert your SIM card, but not the SD card. Go to the PC and copy the ROM file (it must be names RUU_Signed.nbh. Rename it if it has some other name.) into the ROM Update Utility folder that is outside the Orefkov and SPL Patcher folder.
Now press and hold the camera button and start your phone to go into the Boot loader mode once again.
Now Run the RomUpdateUtility.exe and follow her instructions. Please make sure that you are not running RomUpdateUtility inside the Orefkov folder in SPL Updater folder. You must use the one outside, in the RomUpdateUtility folder. Your phone will automatically go into bootloader mode and a progress bar will be displayed on both phone and PC. Once it completes, your phone will restart again and you'll get the phone with the brand new ROM.
Step 7 : Set your PC and Phone back to normal
------------------------------------------------
This step is only needed in case you are using Vista.
The driver we updated in Vista will not work for normal active sync operation. So you'll need to set it back to the original version. There are two ways to do that. Either, uninstall and reinstall the Windows Mobile Device Center Or Follow the same procedure gicen in Step 3 but instead on clicking the "Have Disk button", choose the driver from the list already given.
The driver that you need to install can be identified by have a newer version given in front of its name. Also, the newer driver's name includes "Microsoft Corporation" while the older one has only "Microsoft".
You can Put back your SD card now.
On your phone, again go to the Start > Settings > Connections > USB and check the checkbox there and click OK.
That's it! You are Done.

My P3400i SR8XX is OLD or NEW?
Hi! Crazy & Ankit,
I am from Delhi and having P3400i with SR. HT8XXXX, onbl-1.17.000,spl-1.17.000,os-1.8.00.
In the past I have flashed several times of cooked rom by chayn & lomlom without changing to permanent HSPL. It was done by temporary CID unlock method as running jumpsp.exe while pressing and holding Camera+VoiceReco button and flashing. Presently we are using Vista Design build 20270 by Chayn and and still my onbl& spl displays 1.17.000.
Today I tried to flash Ankit M2D rom using previous method, flash completed successfully, device restarted but stuck on boot loader. Then i restore my Gene by RUU_Gene_hTC_Asia_India_1.17.720.1_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Ship and then flashed Chayn Vista Design 20270 which is working fine.
Please confirm whether my Gene is NEW or OLD as if it were NEW then Ankit's ROM Should work. Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks..........
Yours is an old gene i guess. Using Serial No, ONBL and SPL versions for recognizing your phone as a new or old gene is not reliable. chyan and lomlom's both have provided some excellent roms for both new and old gene so i cant say about that also. But ya, if Ankit's ROM is not working then yours is an old gene, i am 99% sure.
Thanks for your quick response to our query. Further, could you please advise me better ROM for me to Flash.
Also, I have created 1% increment battery dll and tested on my gene which is working fine. Is it possible to include it in your ROM.
@krazy
Oh Boy! Now we have an old Gene (3400i) with 8 series number and 1.17 onbl. Great going HTC !
Guess you have some really busy time coming up.
BTW:
Do you know typing? Better learn it soon .
What to say brother, HTC is just making things difficult, i guess they want to sell the higher end mobiles too. But i dont understand, apart from WinMo 6.1, their higher end mobiles have faster and greater hardware. So how come flashing a gene with WM 6.1 and Manilla 2D can affect their sales? I wont go for a P3400i if i had the money to buy a diamond even if both of them can/already have WM 6.1.
I know typing very well, you might have got some idea from the amount of text i post when i post a new rom I am ready, give it to me baby! Yeah! LOL!

Hey man, its really nice! Love it. Will include it in ROM is some more users gave positive responses, as you know that the ROM is not for somebody alone, its for the community. So will have to take some feedback before including. I'll post it in recommended downloads section in both of my roms. Thanks for it mate

backup orignal rom
to bauckup orinal rom orefkov created small programm for it.
Programm dump_gene_os_extrom.exe do dump os and extrom from Gene to memory card. Created files are identical os.nb and extrom.nb, extracted from official RUU_Signed.nbh, and allow rom coocking with it.
Usage:
Copy dump_gene_os_extrom.exe on your device. Insert SD-card with at least 70 MB free on it. Run copied program. After some time you will see message - Dump complit. On SD-card will be files os.nb and extrom.nb.
how to flash ?
use htc rom tool
click on build tab
device = gene
u see firmware contain on right
give path Ext. ROM to extrom.nb
OS to os.nb
click on build u get new file called ruu_signed.nbh

I had that problem and few more with my Hermes.
While it didn't help me, this suggestion by ultramag69 may help you...
Use the sd card method to flash a new rom, instead of a USB cable/Windows computer.
1. Format a 2Gb or less sd card to FAT32, copy the large 50MB-90MB .nbh file onto it and rename to hermimg.nbh
2. Insert the card into your Hermes and reset to bootloader (hold OK & POWER and push RESET for a sec with the stylus)
3. If you haven't stuffed up the other steps, follow the prompts.
Hope this helps!
Just one other thing summoner, make sure you have Hard SPL V7 installed. Otherwise the ONLY rom I'd try flashing like that is the SHIPPED STOCK ROM. Its so the CID will be recognised and won't cause a brick.
rmorera84, unless you've installed Hard SPL V7 then find the SHIPPED STOCK ROM and flash that, anything else may permanently brick your Hermes.
If you have Hard SPL V7 (IPL 1.04, SPL 2.10 oli) then flash what you like...
Cheers...
- Installed latested Orange rom, that I know of - SPV_M3100_ROMUpdate_1007
- installed Hard SPL 7 & applied SIM unlock/super CID
- re-installed TNT TNT.19199_Professional_Hermes
The result is:
IPL-1.01
SPL-1.40.Olipro
I suppose I should upgrading the radio rom now!?
I am told don't try fixing what isn't broken - and it is working. 3G iNet, Phone, WiFi, BT - all good atm.
Or is there a particular update I should still install?
Thanks!
SUMM0NER, you're using an older, not so safe version of Hard SPL. The Hermes is downgraded to SPL 1.40 when you sim/CID unlock your phone. Best idea would be to re-install Hard SPL V7. Its a later version that seems less prone to problems when flashing.
Go back to the Hard SPL thread and get Hard SPL V7. I had the same thing happen to me when I unlocked the Hermes, nearly cost me my handset.
The steps are unlock Hermes, Install Hard SPL then upgrade OS.
Cheers...
Do I need to re-apply the OS rom file?
I just reinstalled Hard SPL7, now shows as IPL-104, SPL-2.10.Olipro.
Thanks!
My hermes only work whit this rom:Schaps_WM6Pro_ESN_3.54b-0808_Full
Because whit any other rom they stuck at 11%.
This is the info or the phone:
IPL-1.01
Spl-1.40.Olipro
Whit the first rom the htc boot but the phone funtion don´t work.
rmorera84, refer to my last post.
SUMM0NER, no. You have loaded the os, the reason you put Hard SPL V7 is if you want to upgrade the radio rom (not a good idea unless you are experiencing problems) or wish to change the os. Just means recovery is easier than if you didn't have it.
Cheers...
Many thanks ultramag69.
rmorera84 what branding is your Hermes (ie: Orange M3100, T-Mobile Vario 2, Vodeaphone V1605 etc...)?
Can I assume your Hermes is working right now?
If it is download and install HardSPL V.7 (attached to the bottom of the first post!)
Ones done verify that it installed correctly by holding the OK & Power button and pushing reset for a sec. The screen should display the coloured bars and say towards the centre: SPL-2.10.Olipro
It´s Cingular 8525, i could install the HardSPL V.7, now what rom i can flash??
You didn't confirm if it is working right now!?
If it is not working, try one of the official WM5 Cingular roms from this list. If that worked apply HardSPL 7 and take it from there.
Ones you downloaded the Cingular rom update you will have to keep unpacking the .exe files until you come to the actual .NBH file (WinRAR works for me).
Then follow ultramag69's instructions on flashing the rom via memory card.
Works, now i have this info:
HERM100
IPL-1.04
HERM100
SPL-2.10.Olipro
I download the official Cingular WM5 rom, but. i don´t know how install this rom by memory card, could you help me??
Excellent!
Try downgrading to the Cingular rom via USB. Just double click the EXE and follow the instructions.
To use the memory card method follow these steps...
0. unpack the .exe file containing the rom with Winrar (right-click exe then choose "Extract to...\")
The reason to use the memory card to upgrade a rom, rather than a usb cable, is to cut down on failed upgrades (dodgy Windows/usb port/usb cable/etc..).
All working? Try upgrading to a Hermes rom that didn't work previously.
Any rom you can find in the Hermes section. Go to the WM06 part of the forum, theres a sticky at the top with about 50 older roms and you'll find other roms there too (latest is wm6.5).
Cheers...
i install the official WM5 AT-T version the WM6 AT-T, but, i still whit the no-gsm problem, can i flash i radio? or what i can do??
You may not be able to fix this, if you know what the original SHIPPED STOCK ROM was and can find it, then flash that. It may not work, if it gets stuck at 11% - 17% mark it means the radio ROM is stuffed and the memory area is corrupted. Not fixable.
You could also try, if you know what it is, the original radio rom by itself. Again, if you can't get it to work, you have a PDA but won't work as a phone ever again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Im to having the same problem, it keeps going back to the 2.1.Olipro boot loader.
I tried the memory card option and it starts to install but then stops.
Does anyone have and sugestions?
Cheers
