My Config: DCD 3.2.6, Radio 3.42.50, PRI 2.03_002
My phone no longer will search for Wifi signals. I can manually configure it to connect to an access point if I already know the SSID, but if not I can't find any access points. One thing to note is that I've used WMWifirouter before, but don't think this has caused the issue.
Anyone else seen this?
If you remove the WiFiRouter connection from your wireless network properties it should work. Same happened to me.
Hmm, I could do that but I actually purchased and use WMWifiRouter, and I assume if I delete that connection, there goes my internet access thru WMWifiRouter.

Ive discussed this problem multiple times, but im reviving it as i have some new information.
my xv6800 on dcd 3.0.1(will flash to 3.0.4 later today) has an issue with the wifi. i tested and discovered that the problem persisted on the stock rom, and after more testing, i think i ahve narrowed the problem down to one possible culprit..maybe
Multiple AP's with one SSID.
My wifi worked at home with few issues, and it works off campus at an place with an AP that i spend time at. the issue comes up when im on campus and i connect to the APs in the dorms and the classroom areas etc...
everywhere else, the SSID's are unique, so there is no confusion(for my phone) but when im at school and i use it, i can connect to the AP, named "buwireless", but when the phone goes to standby and comes back(and tries to connect again) the wifi shuts off and wont come back until a soft reset. what i have been able to do, to be able to use the wifi at school, is to remove the settings that it saves, and just manually connect each time.
I did this because i think the problem occurs when the phone has to connect to the SSID that it know, "buwireless" but the problem is that there are multiple AP's with that same buwireless ssid but with multiple MAC addresses. is it possible that the many APs with the same ssid could be giving me issues?
i dont know what else it could be given the fact that it works very reliably in most places, but at school its not like the phone doesnt work well with that ssid, its that the wifi on the phone actually stops working when it is confronted with that ssid. it wont search for others, and wififofum wont work either.
any more thoughts would be appreciated, and of course similar experiences would be interesting as well.
thanks
I was trying several WM6 and 6.1 ROMs around on my Atom (original), and now my Wi-Fi doesn't work anymore.
I first tried Sonblack's first WM6.1 firmware, that one worked, then later I tried Kumara 6.0 and 6.1, after putting my SIM card in for the first time, Wi-Fi stopped working. I can search for access points, but can't connect to any. I tried downgrading the firmware back to the official O2 WM5 Chinese firmware which the device came with, upgrading to Sonblack's later versions, (20273v2), neither seem to fix the problem. I did a search on the forum, tried the registry DWORD value change, also tried turning on and off the radio, doesn't work either.
Anyone know what is going on?
Thanks.
I just did another test, and it seems to prove that the Wi-Fi hardware is working. I downgraded my unit to the official WM5 English ROM, then configured the device to connect to an ad-hoc network with my laptop. That one worked fine, using the randomly generated IP address. The two devices pinged each other and can see each other just fine.
So that leaves with the question, why can't my Atom connect to access points? The symptom looks like it's a bad key or something, but I tried entering it a few times and it isn't. I even tried disabling the security, still no go.
Finally got it working, but in a not so nice way.
I had to go to my router, and disable Wireless G support. Once I switch my router to B-only, it works just fine. However, I do recall that I didn't have to do this in the past, and it would be pretty useless since I can't configure other people's routers. And I do recall using the device on several G networks and it worked fine there and the speed would fall to B speeds.
Anyone know how can I get it back to it connects to G networks as well?
Hey, you could try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=266604
In fact, please do - the thread suggests the atom may have an 802.11g chipset clocked down to 802.11b speeds. "b" wifi is what is stopping me getting an atom.
Actually after I flick my router to B-Only, I got it connecting, and switched it back to Mixed-G and it still worked. So I guess it was one of the ROMs that had a flaky driver and caused the wireless to act like this.
And no, I tried the conversion, didn't do a thing. Still connects as B, so it's a hardware thing.
In Feb2008 I bought O2 Atom Life with WM5. Played with 2/3 different Wireless Routers successfully with no issue. Next day I upgraded to official WM6 Rom on O2 support site. Now WIFI works with one Router with no issue but as soon as I try to get another router, I get problem of no connect.
After playing with it a lot I found following solution. I go to WIFI Settings and manually enter DNS IP in Wireless Cards Setup. That is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 which is router's DNS IP. No other change required, even keep "Use server settings" (auto) in Card's main IP Address.
See following solution carefully.....
Start Menu >>> Settings >>> Connection Tab >>> Wifi >>> O2 Wifi 892b/g Wireless Adaptor >>> Nameserver TAB >>> Enter DNS as 192.168.1.1 or whatever your router's IP is. >>> CLICK OK. Now your WM6 finds new wireless router in area to connect.
Even sometimes deleting the IP in DNS Settings and leaving it blank (auto) also connects to WIFI with no issue. May be I am not having proper solution but trust me 802.11g or 802.11b or whatever type router is, it surely connects and I am using this way since many many months...
Hope this helps... please inform if this helps...
ok i can install all fo the tether apks (obviously not all at once) and they all seem to work fine and my computer recognizes the phones network and the phone shows that its sending data to the computer when talking to it to connect but then says unidentified network no internet access. so they talk to each other but the phone isnt passing on its connection. any idea how i can fix this?
maybe some setting i need to change?
SEARCHED FOR HOURS AND NO ONE COULD FIX THIS FOR ME. WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED SOME LITTLE KID WOULD NAIL IT.

Hey. My phone arrived today and so did the problems.
I have a wireless router(Asus W530G-V2). The internet runs great on my PC
Just before I went to school I could see my Wireless Network's name but I couldn't connect to it. It simply said Connecting... over and over again. The interned didn't work. Now I got home and and I can't even find the network. If I manually add it it's out of range.
Can someone help me?
Thanks.
edit: once in a while i get a weak connection (tp-link_b22866) that also doesn't work.
lol. check if ur asus router supports wireless internet. does it have an antenna or something?
Yes, it does. My sister used the wireless to use internet on her laptop.
It's possible that you could have entered the wrong password the first time, that would result in the connecting loop you mentioned, as for it not being visible I'm not sure why that would happen unless the SSID of the router is being masked, an idea might be to go to maccas and test your phone using the wifi there maybe? If nothing else connecting to another network would help us diagnose the problem.
I did a factory reset but still, the phone wouldn't see any network.
I'll try adding a wireless card to my PC and see if it receives any signal from the router.
If not, I gotta set up the router somehow.
Thanks.
check if ur router is compatible with the dd-wrt custom firmware. if its compatible flash it on ur router, it will solve all the problems.
or
try this
Small utility that allows you to adjust the transmitter power of WiFi, thus can be great help to save battery life.
Has been done 5 hard dimmer. The apartment is missing 4 or 11 dBm for normal operation. Battery consumption with this sometimes falls on the 60-100 mA.
Nope, dd-wrt is not supported
And I can't install the apk since I don't have internet access therefore I don't have Astro File Manager.
ok try this.
find out ssid broadcast name of ur router from ur sisters laptop.
ask her if its password protected. if yes, get it from her somehow.
then on ur phone do this,
Settings>Wireless & network settings> Wi-Fi settings
turn on the wifi
and select add Wi-Fi network
enter the ssid name in there.
if needed enter that damn password and save it.
voila!
I've tried that but below the network name it says "Out of range".
And my sister ain't here. I don't know if it's my phone that isn't receiving the wireless signal or if it's the router which isn't sending. I'll go later today in a place with hotspot.
Images of the router's settings. maybe there's something wrong here:
http://imgur.com/iJu8n&6TIsH&rkcJk&rKvub
maybe ur sister needs all the bandwidth and blocked ur phones mac id on the router lol
I said above that my sister isn't here now. It's only me so no one is using the wireless.
From what I can see there it's possible that the security on the network could be set to filter MAC addresses, I'm not sure if that is the problem, however at this point I'm not sure what else it could be...
Nah, it's not that.
I've messed around with it(to accepts the phone's MAC, disabled) but still won't work.
I'll go to a mall or somewhere to see if the phone's the culprit here.
Went to the local library and wifi worked smoothly. I've downloaded all the apps I needed(especially Astro file manager). So the router was the problem from the beginning.
Thanks anyway.
Well I'm glad it's not your phone that's the problem, hope you like your 01 and that you get your router working.
Hi,
can you check on which wifi channel your router sends. On my P500 I also don`t see a wifi network above channel 11.
By the way I`d like to know how to enable these channels with my Cyanogen 7.0.2 beta 6.5. I know that there must be some possibilities..

All of a sudden, I cannot access WPA2 networks on wifi anymore. WEP networks work fine. My school's WEP network conebut when I try to connect to a WPA2 network, here's what happens:
1. phone connects successfully.
2. open browser
3. attempt to load google/yahoo/cnn/bing
4. loading inevitably fails
Does anyone have the same problem? Any proposed fixes?
Wolfbreak's CM ROM. BB58. THANKS!
Hey,
I'm having major problems with wifi on my x10. Yesterday, the phone suddenly couldn't access the internet over my home wifi network, which has a WPA2 personal passphrase. The phone still showed up as connected to the network, but could not get online. I reflashed my x10 with SEUS twice, reformatted my memory card, triple checked my router settings, but no matter what I do, I cannot get WPA2 personal keys to work. WEP keys work perfectly. Does anyone have the same problem? Can anyone help me out?
Baseband .54
Stock Android 2.1
Thanks!
For a lot of custom roms, the ability to automatically connect to WPA- and even some WEP-encrypted networks is a challenge, and not many people seem to know the specific reason for it.
A lot of people have been using a free app from the Market called Blade Wifi Fix, which has mixed results (I haven't had it work for me, but it does for other people).
The fix I use is to disable Wifi, then re-enable it, wait for it to show Disabled on my wifi access point, then choose it and press connect. That usually works for me. But again, that's just for me.
