Hi!
I guess its almost 2 months ago till my storage card issue started to break off...
The problem is that i cant access the storage card and applications on it anymore after my Qtek 8500 is turned on for some hours. When I restart my device everything is alright again and i can access the Storage Card again (hearing music, launch applications from the directory and start menu....)
But,,, the problem is that it happens again after a few hours and then i have to restart my device again. This issue is not Rom related, i had it with my original rom and now also with the 6.1 STD and PROF. rom... Do you think it might help to format the storage card?
no, its a hardware problem and to solve it you need to put a little piece of paper on a small button which is pushed by battery cover
Use a little piece of DUCT tape or similar...
I've got the exact same problem and was about to send it in for a repair under warranty (if only I could find the receipt).
Could you explain a in little bit more detail what causes the problem and how it can be fixed?
Putting a little piece of paper between SIM and storage card to hold both firmly in place didn't fix anything. The little button next to it (right of the SIM card and below the "VOID" sticker) looks like it would be firmly pressed when the cover is closed. Is that little guy really the cause of the problem?
If so, why does it only break the connection to the storage card and not reboot the whole device like it would when released under normal circumstance.
Can any of you maybe post a picture of an actually fully working solution to the problem?
It's definately not a hardware problem in most cases (otherwise reboot wouldn't help). Many people complained about that and not only the startrek users. You can try these tips
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/...g-folder-or-corrupt-in-windows-mobile-device/
You can also search through xda-developers. There are the similar threads about other devices where people tries to play with the registry settings. For example here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294324
EDIT: I was told that in case of Startrek a small piece of paper placed on a small button under the battery cover can really solve the problem with the microSD card. Sorry

I'm currently having this annoying situation with mi SmartFlip. For an instance, i get random errors with my SIM card: the phone restarts itself asking me for my pin #, then when i put my numbers it shows me a SIM card error or Invalid SIM card and that i have to replace it and cant make any phone calls at all (only emergency ones if supported by the network). This crap goes on and on randomly (mostly when im on the move, on the street, etc). Also my device shows that is in Home Service Mode, and i cant receive any calls at all (call inmediately bounces in to the voice msg inbox) and in the Screen shows a bunch of unknown missed calls, each one for every tone the call makes.
As for the microSD card, errors are the same, random reading errors for the contents of the storage card (i get those on the WMP and with custom ringtones). I have to turn of the phone and move around the storage card so the system can get it again. This one can happen if im on the move or not...randomly.
On Saturday i send an email requesting an RMA and today they responded me that basically my unit doesnt have any warranty left, which leads me to a dead end.
I know is the SIM/microSD slot malfunction, but i dont know how much it will cost me to repair without a warranty. Besides ill not send the phone to them, just to find how expensive it will be and then throw it back to me.
Im looking for a non-working smartflip/s300/3125 that i could use for replacing the faulty part. And im sure that will be very difficult, when the sim slot is bonded to the device board.
What else can i do?...any bright advice could help. Thanks a lot.
I've had similar issues to what you've described after having installed a faulty application.
Each time this has happened to me, a hard reset and/or ROM update solved the problems.
However, it does seem highly probably that the issue is with the hardware on the phone. So, while its worth a shot hard resetting, I somehow don't think it'll work.
(Hard reset = power off the phone, press and hold both softkeys + power on the phone. A message will appear saying to press '0' to hard reset. Press 0, then release both softkeys.)
I think i've resolved these issues, by sticking a thin piece of carton that i picked over the street between the SIM card and the MicroSD so both of 'em get pressured in. Results: no Sim errors or phone restarting or microSD reading error. The only thing is if i want to maintain everything in working order, i cant go moving the SIM in and out very much, or the process has to be done all over again. This SIM/microSD displacement Suckss. I prefer those phones where the SD slot is on one side of the unit, not in here. Besides, the phone has to be turned off.
Thank God for those how throw empty candy packages on the streets
And yes. The hard reset functioned just fine. Just Couldnt manage to do it with the softkeys maneuver.
OK so my card has been working great with no problems until about a week to a week and a half ago. Now it randomly uninstalls and gives me a warning message in the top bar that says " SD card unexpectedly removed. Unmount SD card before removing it to avoid data loss." When it does this I can no longer see my card in the phone file. I tried removing the card and formatting it in my computer and then reinstalling it. That seemed to be an improvement for about a week (I say seemed because it was a very short time). During that time it would sometimes mount and unmount on its own but always remounted.
Any advice is welcomed with the exception of dropping it in the trash.
I do not have another card to try but I would be willing if necessary to buy another. I just wanted the advice of others before I commit the money. Also does anyone know if the known issues with 32GB cards has been resolved? I may go head and get a 32GB class 10 instead if I have to buy one anyways.
Phone is running
Android 2.2
System version 4.1.83
Gingerblur 3.5 basic meaning I am running it the way it installs from XDA unmodded.
Memory PNY 16GB Class 10
There is a known issue with the contacts on the phone not "contacting" correctly with the SDCard. Some people have manually bent the contacts on the phone and solved this issue successfully. Personally I wouldn't want to do something like this myself.
How old is the card? Take it out and reseat it a few times, make sure it's getting a good connection. I have a few older cards that the edges have worn from taking them in and out of devices so much that they sit a bit loose. Could also be slightly malformed from the factory.
Same thing happened to me with a 16gb Patriot Class 10 micro sd in the atrix. I rebooted, shut down and reaseated teh card int eh phone, to no avail. Ive put it into a microsd to usb adapter tried in my comp and it wouldnt be recognized, after reinserting it a few times into the computer (running win7 64 bit), it had been recognized, but it said it had to be formatted, did so, yet the atrix still didnt recognize it at first, reinserted it a few times and than it worked, however i tried it several times in my laptop and desktop and at several occasions it wouldnt work, so i just filed for a RMA at patriot, describing the problem. Im just about to RMA the card tomorrow. After that ive put an older 8gb sandisk (class 4 or 6 i think) sd card in it and it works flawlessly again. So i just hope the 16gb card was broken and not that the atrix brakes cards ...
This happened a few days ago and I tried all the reseating and reformatting then and it mysteriously started working again. What Caelan says makes alot of sense as the very first time it happened I had the phone in my back pocket since the shirt I had on had no pocket. So I probably sat on it wrong and caused the problem. I have no idea how people are reaching inside the little metal cover and bending the pins with any degree of accuracy.
I do not currently have another card but I can take this one and stick it in my sons phone for a while and see how it does. That should tell me if it is the card at least. So what is Motos return policy...........anyone?

Don't know of any phone returns for this. People either try different cards till one works, (and they all will if you put them in and out enough times), or they bend the pins.
Personally, I kept putting my SDCard in and out, maybe 5 or 6 times, with the phone turned on, and then all of a sudden the card registered. No problems since, but I haven't removed it since either. The card I have has been in two other phones with no issues, reads fine on my PC, in a camera, in my spycam........only issues I had were with the Atrix.
It's not the SDcards folks, but if you keep swapping them out, trying different ones, of course it will eventually work.
I wnder if anyone has tried taking a piece of plastic shim stock and attaching it to the backside of the SD card to make it a little thicker? I work in machine tool repair on the electronics end but I have access to the shim material as thin as .0001". I may try a piece like 5-10 thousandths and see if just tightening up the spacing helps. I'll post back here in a few days if it helps.

You can't get shim stock .0001" thick. You can however get it .001" thick!
Good point added a zero didn't I? However if I look in the shim crib I bet I can find .0005" but it may not be the plastic. Either way I actually meant the .001 heh heh.
My phone started doing the same thing a few days ago. Did it once, then nothing for a couple of days. Last night it did the same thing a few times while I was asleep. A reboot fixed(?) it, but if I see it doing it more, back to the store I will go to complain.
OK so here is what I have doen so far. I pur a piece of plastic shim on the back of my card in an effort to se if just tightening it would work. It did not. I then took the memory card out of my phone and swapped it with my sons 8GB Sandisk. Both phones read the memory cards and are working. Makes little or no sense to me but I can use my sons 8GB but not my 16GB.
I am still open to any other ideas if anyone has any, with the exception of bending pins in my phone.
Well, hasn't happened again. I even used about 4 hours of nav over the weekend to really heat it up. Nothing. My bet is on a software glitch somewhere....
Started happening again today, and this time more than once. I think I might try and get a new phone....
In case anyone is interested it has been about a week since swapping memory cards with my son and my 16GB class 10 is still working fine in his phone and the 8GB that came with his from HTC is still woring in my phone. I don't know why or what happened but now I am afraid to spend the money on a 32GB card. Last call on ideas as I won't be updating this thread anymore unless the 8GB unexpectedly crashes.

wikihow .com/Save-a-Wet-Cell-Phone Read this BEFORE continuing. Now, assuming you've read this, followed the instructions and for most of this, your phone turns on. There may be errors. These may help even if your phone isnt wet.
1)My phone and other cant read/detect my SD Card.
Solution (Worked for me): Heat up the SD Card slot with your breath. Then heat up the SD Card in the same way. Or use a hair dryer. The reason to this is that it increases your SDs lifespan. You should be ok, but just in case, back up all of your data to a computer.
2) My phone wont charge.
Soulution (tested and works): Rub the copper connections on your phone and battery, while they are seperate of corse with a pin or other non eletric metal. If not, check your charger.
3)My phones sound stopped working.
Solution (tested and works): Rub a Q-Tip in the headphone part of your phone. As easy as it sounds, it works. If not, reboot your phone. I learned to reboot because your phone might think that your phone is connected to headphones.
Hope I helped, and if you need help with something else concerning your wet phone, Ill be sure to try and help.
Whatever you do:
Dont freeze the water or evaporate it. Evaporating it can have harmful effects, leaving behind harmful growths and give it a foggy screen. Freezing it into ice expands its mass, shoving delicate components out of the way.
Hi everyone,
I am experiencing a problem with my Samsung Vibrant. It keeps saying "Sim Card removed" and asks for restarting. It happen every 5 minutes or so. Any one has an idea in how to solve? Running CyanogenMod 9 Nightly Vibrantmtd.
Peace!
Maybe try cleaning the contacts on the card. Or you may have fired your SIM card with that crazy Haitian heat down there. Might want to look in to getting a new SIM card and see if that works out.
Thank you for response Woodrube. I didnt come back to the post because i have solved the problem. It was about the sim card reader on the board of the phone. I changed it and it worked like a charm. I sold it right after. I'm now on Galaxy S2. The haitian heat is something a man should try before he dies man. I hope you'll have that chance... lol.
Well, i really appreciate your help man.
Peace.

Hi, just wanted to add my own experience to this subject. My phone got a little bit wet, not submerged but just dripped on a little bit. Some of this water made its way into the back of the phone through the speaker hole and side slits. I compounded the problem by pushing the power button to turn it off instead of just pulling the battery; this caused the physical switch to suck some water in and short out, causing symptoms similar to a boot loop - put the battery in, phone immediately turns on, starts to boot, turns itself off just as boot animation comes up, repeat, until battery pulled. Long story short, I had to tear apart the phone, dissect the power switch, blot out water, and reassemble.
All good until I started right away getting 'SIM card removed, reboot phone' messages. Power down sometimes made it see the SIM again for a litle while, sometimes I had to pull the battery and jostle the SIM card and then it would work a while, etc.
I re-opened the phone after a week of this and discovered that while I was poking around inside, the ribbon connector for the SIM card / SD card reader daughterboard had become disconnected, on the hidden side of the motherboard (i.e. the screen side). I had to disconnect two similar ribbons on the battery side to be able to lift the whole assembly out of the case, push the SIM reader ribbon connector back into its receiver, and then all was well. I think it was only working at all because the being pushed up against the case was kind of holding the connector in place, if only in a janky way.
So, check for disconnected SIM card reader ribbon before ordering a new part. In fact, looking at the part online is what gave me the idea to check. I would post a link to the part, but as a new XDA user I'm disallowed until I make more posts. Google.
Thanks XDA for being awesome!
Currently running CM10 nightlies and loving my phone, after having official Froyo for nine months and hating it.
Hi All
I know this is too late to post as Dell Venue is complete extinct in market but still i know many people own this device and love it
ISSUE
SIM card issue, Suddenly this phone pops up that SIM card is not inserted or unavailable, Network go away and automatically get resolved after restart or after re assembling battery.
RUMORS
Many people believe that this issue is happening because they loaded a custom ROM on device and THIS IS NOT CORRECT.
I own Dell Venue and facing this issue from last 8-9 months. I tried MIUI, CM7 various version but issue was always same..
Some people think its a network IC issue, That is wrong because phone can still show you available networks.
ACTUAL REASON
Dell Device motherboard doesn't have all the component soldered on it and they are just assembled in such a way that it stay in physical contact with motherboard, SIM card holder is one of them. SIM card holder is a small PCB placed over motherboard and pushed against motherboard with the help of its case. Once your phone is few months old or fell down several times, The body of phone becomes slightly loose and cause the issue that SIM card holder lose contact from main motherboard and phone pops that SIM card issue.
SOLUTION
1. UNSCREW your phone. There are 5 screws on phone. 4 are visible and 1 is under a white cap.
2. Open the case. Be CAREFUL of its small component and antennas
3. You will get SIM holder, Flash and antenna completely out of motherboard.
4. Now you will find all these components are connected to motherboard by golden colored metal (Like battery contact metals in every phone).
5. Use a pin and push all those metals litle out (like you used to do in your nokia phone when your battery used to loose contact with phone)
6. Clean all the component safely (Optional) - But i did because there was a lot of dust got collected in case causing it to get loose.
7. Assemble your phone back and tight the screws really well.
Turn on the phone and your phone is new again.
These steps will resolved WIFI and network issues as Antennas of phone are also connected in same way.
NOTE. Antennas are tiny metal plates placed under side silver plastic case. DO place them back else WIFI and GSM will show very low network.
I did this two weeks back and not a single time i got sim issue again, moreover my WIFI and GSM range is improved.
Thanks
Hope this will help.
