I haven't been on a while, my DCD 3.2.6 has been running as smooth as ever.
Just noticed tonight though that HTC has released the 6.1 upgrade for Alltel users. HTC PPC6800 WM6.1 / LBS Update – Version 3.52.671.9
Probably won't leave my 3.2.6 has it's running smooth, but the upgrades from the HTC site include:
1. Upgrades the operating system from Windows Mobile. 6.0 Professional to Windows Mobile. 6.1 Professional.
2. Adds the ability to use the internal GPS of the handset for advanced location services such as Alltel Navigation, an application that provides audible turn-by-turn directions and business listings.
3. Includes updates for network speed, allowing the phone to use EVDO Rev A networks.
4. Adds all enhancements included in previous software maintenance releases.
Just wondered if any Alltel users have tried it.

I am currently running it. As a matter of fact, I replaced DCD 3.2.6 with this one. It runs just as good and the GPS runs smooth. It also comes with ArcSoft 5.0.71.33. Alltel Navigation is the same navigation application most carriers are loading on thier phones (some version of TeleNav). Comes with a 30 day free trial and works good, but I will not pay the $9.95 a month to use it. When loaded, I have just as much free RAM as I did with DCDs ROM. I still like the work that DCD does, but I prefer a factory ROM if possible and so far this one gives me all that I was looking for.
interesting...thanks for your reply.
I've been running this for about a month now and it runs great!
Only bugs i've seen is sometimes when I get text messages I don't get the orange flashing light and it never vibrates...other than that it's pretty spiffy. I like the threaded txt messaging!

Battery life is amazing 2 days with some use of gps calls txt and still at 70%
hope dcd can help by breaking this to down to kitchen but wish to thank dcd
for making my titan usable until this release.
I have been using the Alltel Rom since the day it was released (actually had it a couple days before it was added to the htc site thanks to this site). Its very smooth and I really like the newer arcsoft. So much easier to send texts. You can reply to Picture msges with a txt without leaving the msg box and creating a new one.
Very stable I have had no errors. It runs Skyfire a lot better as well.

there is a setting under start menu>settings>sound and notifications, and select new text message in the drop down menu. it gives you options like flash LED or vibrate. that'll get it back for yaa
Thats enabled....most of the time it works like it's supposed to but sometimes it doesn't. Havent been able to figure it out yet. Maybe I just need to clear the few thousand txt msgs out hehe.
i thought you Alltel boys might want to know this. I'm fairly familiar with one of Alltel's engineer. He looked at my titan for about 30 minutes a few days and looked at some screens i've never seen. Now i'm not saying all phones on 3.2.6 are not Rev.A compatible, but i know the Alltel ones aren't. He said the "alltel people" were very familiar with DCD, NoChem, and other Roms and respected their work.
for some reason though he said their roms didn't enable Rev.A on the alltel network. This new ROM that they have out does...it shows up as rA on the phone instead of EV. Just thought you'd want to know.
To show you how much i love 3.2.6, i will still probably stay with it. It's the most stable ROM i've run, and i'm well appreciative of DCD's work on this stuff.
I'm running DCD now, but can someone tell me what version ARCSOFT was included with this official alltel rom??
THank you!

Just out of curiosity, what are the advantages of Rev.A over EV?

The new Alltel official ROM comes with ArcSoft version 5.0.71.33. Lots of other changes too. I was running DCD 3.2.6 and decided to check out the new ROM from Alltel. It runs great with plenty of free RAM (around 17MB). It has the GPS enabled and comes with TeleNav, but I am using AmazeGPS.
Well....I'm running DCD now but I can't forward txt messages to multiple people...I am running that version of arcsoft as well. Looks like im going to go back to the official rom..No one seems to have any solutions to my issue..
ArcSoft 5.0.71.33 working great wanted to play so broke it down to a kitchen
added manila 2d and still run around 17mb free great rom excellent GPS
with Garmin XL if you would like to try the kitchen i made message me and i will share for beta testing purposes only not responsable for ant damage.

Yup.
Has anyone here managed to extract the Radio and flash it with working results?
I've been trying to do this myself and it flashes fine (via MicroSD) but then I get No Radio.
I'm using Dutty's NBHTool to extract it from the Special file, then making a NBH of the Radio only...
Anyone?

you say it's incorrect as you know from experience. Funny you say that. i have dcd 3.3.4 now and i was in Raleigh Durham with my office phone that we just installed the new official alltel ROM. He was running rA and i'm still on EVDO. Doesn't matter as much because i love dcd roms, and like i mentioned, i would assume one of alltel's top engineers might know a little bit more.

Did you actually test out the connection at speedtest.net?
If your uplink is over 200k, then you are revA regardless of what the screen says. Put another way, have you determined whether this is a display issue or an actual issue?

not sure about this one...i guess just in listening to the Alltel engineer (that actually runs alot of DCD and other cooked roms) he said he wasn't truly Rev.A. Just repeating what he said.

you've been testing it for weeks, dork. HUGE CLOCK included.
You need to give more detail if you want people to test it out!
Is this a command line based kitchen?
Does it require .net?
Is it script based (like DogGuys), or GUI?
Your first post goes on and on about how this is not the "official" kitchen, its not the final release of your kitchen, its not DogGuy's kitchen...
so, we get what its NOT, now tell us what it IS!

im not sure if it requires .net framework. doesnt everybody have this by now?
its the old buildos GUI. run buildos. select carrier. select applications. press play. exit buildos. run createrom. move your new .nbh into the RUU folder and flash.
actually, one of my biggest gripes with dogguy's kitchen is that buildos requires the newer .net framework and my laptop has currently, and at the moment its a work laptop which doesn't give me admin rights to install .net...
So, I thought maybe your kitchen would be a workaround for me, but apparently yours is using the same buildOS, which requires .net.
Oh well.

i see. i just took the .net installation for granted. there MIGHT be another option. hang on a few.
edit: nope, you have to have .net 2.0. sorry. i wish i could come up with another option, but i guess not.
however, if "new buildos" does not require .net, it wouldnt be hard to switch out. i just didnt have a need for it as the old buildos is working fine for me.
OEM Packages for your kitchen?
Nice to see you on xda, dcd. I had checked out for a while there (work).
Will you also be posting OEMs customized for your kitchen? Or, do OEMs prepared in standard way work with your kitchen?
Thanks.

most existing OEMs should work, may take a little experimentation/tweaking to work right once flashed, but same structure.
Missing Device Lock settings
When cooking the rom with DeviceLock builtin, the Settings icons is missing so it's impossible to customize behaviors of DL.
no, its the older devicelock version that is not configurable.

Ah, ok. I understand. Btw, as a side note, damn is that new 1.6.1 rom fast compared to Sprint 2.17. I really have no rationale to offer as to why but I clearly see the difference. My device is so much more responsive, minimal lag (for a WM6 rom), and makes me love back my phone (well, almost).
Currently Running 1.6.1 Using Kitchen Test2 11/30/07
Bug found: HTC Clock seems to be approximately :30 faster than the clock in the titlebar. Maybe it is something I did wrong, I don't know.
Update 11/30/07
Using 1.47.1 Radio
I decided to test the different radios at the same location (my desk). This is a poor reception location but is good for testing.
dcd's 1.5.0 rom gave me the best reception/speed with the 1.4.0 radio at this same location versus all other roms I have tried.
Radio Test Results:
Tested Radio 1.40 = Reception was not good. dslreports.com speedtest for simple mobile (400k file) = 450kbits average
Tested Radio 1.47.1 = Reception is slightly better. dslreports.com speedtest for simple mobile (400k file) = 550kbits average
Extremely impressed dcd, this is the fastest rom as far as responsiveness and overall speed I have had on my phone yet and I have installed quite a few from all different dev's. Also, memory usage is great with virtually no mem leakage when phone was on overnight.
Update 12/02/07
I have been using the rom made from the kitchen for 3 days now. I am extremely impressed by how well the memory has virtually stayed at 53-60% over the weekend. I rebooted once every 24 hours and activesync starts at every boot (can I disable that?). Phone is running great. Of course the only qualm that I have is reception, but it is not bad reception. I suppose I am spoiled by the 1.40 radio that I used on dcd's 1.5.0 rom a while back. It seems like the 1.40 radio is MUCH better than the 1.47 radio when used with a pre-2.17 rom. However, I have not had this phone perform anywhere near as well as it has now using this kitchen. Now that this kitchen has 2.17, it seems like using 1.47 radio is actually better. This is just my experience though.
So my experience has been simple actually Performance vs. Reception. Considering that the performance is FAR SUPERIOR than anything I have used before, and the reception is not much worse than before (compared to increase in performance), I definitely will stick with this rom.
Tested Radio 1.47.1 = dslreports.com speedtest for simple mobile (400k file) = 550kbits average so it stayed the same....
Update 12/07/07
I have been using the rom for officially one week. I am very happy with it. First off I must say that the battery life is undoubtedly the best I have had yet. I did not comment on the battery life in the previous updates because I feel like it takes a week to truly judge the difference in battery life between different roms.
I am now running Voice Command 1.6 which I installed about 3 days ago, and I use it a lot during the day. I call all of my contacts and dial almost all calls with the Voice Command. The memory is now a steady 60-70% a day from using the Voice Command these past three days. Towards the end of the day it goes to about 73%. However, the memory usage and performance is still FAR superior than any other rom I have used in the past.
Summary: Everything runs great, only qualm being the reception/data speed. I attribute the poor signal/data directly to the 1.47 radio. Unfortunately it seemed to me that the rom made using the kitchen worked best with 1.47 and NOT 1.40. So it is still a direct sacrifice of performance/memory versus reception and data speed in the end with this kitchen.
Thanks DCD works great so far, all built in options no issues, can drop most ppakages that I use from other kitchens with no mods, I really like it.
dcd,
Nice kitchen. I'm on alltel and built a basic rom. Everything is working properly so far. I'm going to start adding some OEMs and check for any problems.
Thanks
Jay
By the way, Qmenu is a much more memory-friendly alternative to X-button.
And, it has an optional cascading start menu which displays all running apps as well as a memory reclaimation tool (does the Oxios Hibernate thing).
Works really well, and uses under 100k of memory!
Might want to consider cooking that in instead of X-button. (I'm a recent x-button convert)

it has to be an oem you added as all that were included were tested.
go into the temp folder and view the log. it will show you the guid of the package that failed. find that package and verify that the .rgu is unicode, starts with REGEDIT4, and ends with a blank line.
Any recommendations of which cooked ROM would be good for a Sprint Mogul aka Titan? I want to flash one that still has the live search bar on the today screen, I use it constantly and would like to keep it.
I have been testing multiple ROM's over the past few weeks and here's what my experience/opinion is. You can load any ROM and then download Windows Live since it's not included in cooked ROM's.
The 2.17 stock ROM loads up with approx 25mb free if you bypass the customizations. I don't run this one, it comes with too much crap I don't need.
DCD's clean ROM 1.5.7 loads up with approx 26mb free with the 1.40 radio. Very stable, and runs great.
DCD's alpha 2.17 based ROM loads with approx 26mb free with the 1.47 radio. Didn't seem as quick as the 1.5.7 and I experienced issues receiving calls with this ROM (had to press the answer button twice and sometimes three times). I have not run this ROM with the 1.40 radio but DCD thinks it may fix the issue I had with receiving calls. I had to soft reset with this ROM alot more than the 1.5.7. This ROM also changes the initial HTC logo that you see on a soft reset with the words "dcd's clean rom" below it. A minor issue, but I didn't like having that there.
Custel's 1.1 4MB pagepool loads with approx 28mb free on the 1.40 radio. This ROM is the quickest and most stable ROM I have ran. My only gripe, albeit a minor one, is that the data connection is named Alltel Wireless and resets itself to Alltel Wireless on a soft reset even if you change it. I use Sprint so it kind of bugs me, though it does not affect your data connection and you do not roam to another network.
I recommend using the 1.40 radio in lieu of the 1.47 radio with any ROM. I get a much better and more consistent signal with it.
HTH
Im going to try out Custels' ROM, so all I have to do is downlaod windows live and istall it on my phone? I really just want the search bar in the today screen, because then I edit the key to search google instead of live.

Its not that hard, only gets complicated when adding stuff not already included in the buildOS packages. DCD put together a nice little list of commonly used options, you click what you want, hit go, run a script which creates your .nbh, and flash it!
Actually I was able to make one and then test it but just ended up removing hardspl and putting the official Sprint Rom back on until I could figure out how to make something better. The only questions I have now is how add OEMS to the kitchen and will OEMS made for Wizard Windows Mobile 6 ROMs work in this kitchen for the Titan?

wm6 oems are wm6 oems. gsm stuff might have gsm stuff. it will (probably) build, and then you can fix/tweak it from there. if it fails due to conflicts, you need to identify the files in question, and decide which of the two needs to go. an oem is just a cab laid out. if the cab would install on wizard or titan, its oem probably would.

Great to know. I will start building a new ROM in the morning. It's 12:27am right now and I have to get some sleep. I've been up for over 26 hours thanks to working 2 jobs. I'm off tomorrow though thanks to a huge ice storm blanketing the area I live in. Sucks to drive in but hell I needed the time off...
I honestly believe Imcokeman's Clean alltelwm5 rom is the best. It boots with 28-29mb and is way stable. I haven't had one crash for 2 weeks. Thats saying a lot (for the titan lol).
I love DCD's 1.6.8 Rom over the stock rom. i have verizon.
it is very clean and i love the memory and speed on it. it feels faster than the stock as well and i do not know why i waited so long. doing the upgrade was a bit scary at first.
Some Points:
*All the skins look smoking hot compared to the default skins, The dialer is highly functional now, almost like the spb mobile shell dialer but without the bloat or memory waste.
*i didnt even have to do a *228 to program the phone after the rom update, everything just worked, email sync, text messages, get and make calls and internet.
*27.76 megs ram free after soft reset, i bet i would have more if i used a memory releasing program like oxios hibernate. 1.71.36 megs of storage free. that was more free than i had total before for internal storage.
*it has lots of tweaks pre-applied. like the text message sent confirmation turned off. the audio volume increase tweak, the 5 meg page pool.
*very polished feel, more so than the stock rom
*faster than the stock rom. i would say 50% faster? hard to gauge, but i notice it is speedier.
I have not tried custel's rom or any other rom's, installed this one and was very happy with it.
I've recently downloaded DCD kitchen and love it. I've also starting using OEMizer and making my own ROM's. It's a lot of fun and addicting. DCD Rom's seem to be the best for me. I like the clean approach and it gives me the option to install what I want and customize my phone. The other ROMs include to much stuff I don't find useful.
This is No2Chem's new WM6.1 Rom for the Titan. I can say this rom is about 20% to 40% faster than any rom ever seen for the Titan. GPS works!!! Thanks No2Chem!!!!!

Wow. Thank you so much. Flashing it right now!

Will this work with Verizon?
I'm a Verizon user too.
Will this work or what mods need to be done?
Are we needing to save our info again? IE ESN/MSD/ etc?
Is this carrier specific? Will it work for Alltel?

It's made for Sprint.
But, it works on Verizon!
I came from unlocker 2.40, radio 3.27.00, dcd 2.0.0, on my xv6800.
I was able to place calls, receive calls, use data, and use GPS, all right after the flash. IOTA works too. The Sprint brand shows in a few places, but hasn't shown to adversely affect anything I've tried to do (haven't tried and don't use MMS). Apparently there's an app that fixes all branding too, although I haven't tried it.
I never had an akey in EPST to begin with, so I can't say if others will be able to flash as easily as this (since I'm not sure if that's changed by the radio or OS roms).
Need to play a while to see what's improved/deteriorated.
Thanks a ton for all your hard work no2chem!

Guess I know what I'M doing tonight....."Sorry honey...gotta love the phone first"
Nice
Nice and quick rom. Got stuck in bootloader for quite awhile when loading. Sucks up quite abit of memory compared to DCD's new rom tho. Good work!
so whats up with this new rom? 6.1 huh? so whats on the inside???

Apparently sprint TV works on it, and a new radio 3.39.10...
Now patiently waiting for DCD to extract a radio and make a new rocking rom I wouldn't mind some sprint TV action
I jsut flashed my phone,so far,it worked really well,no problem found yet,it seemd like HTC & Sprint got their act together well this time.
This is a test ROM for WM 6.1 from Sprint and is not an official release. Just a heads up for all the over zealous flashers out there. I'm also assuming the radio is a test as well. The official release date from Sprint is scheduled for June 1, though knowing Sprint, don't bet the farm on that. Flash at your own risk.
Awesome, at least this is a start. Can't wait to test it out. Well, can't wait for dcd's version of this build, so I can test it out. I'm interested in knowing what's different.
Also, for all you people who think newer is better....this rom uses an older wm 6.1 build than dcd 3.0.4...

This rom is slower too. I had it for about 8 hours then flashed 3.0.4 back. 3.0.4 is just faster all around.
it would have been nice if they had added a working mms along with the sprint tv
Coming over to Sprint soon so I'm glad I won't be missing WinMo 6.1 like I'm used to.

Switches to Vibrate on its own
Hi all,
I flashed this ROM, and as well added BatterySTatus, Opera Mini 4.1, Ringo, Google Maps, HTC Home (Helmi Home) and I'm not sure what the glitch is, but the phone spuratically switches to vibrate on its own. Any ideas?

I dont care what anyone says - the stock rom is faster.
I've been using dcd 3.2.5 for almost a week - like the Rev-A, dont care for the GPS, rest is pretty good.
But I could swear that it was not as responsive as the stock.
So I just got down reflashing the stock rom tonight - sure enough, the phone is much more responsive.
I'm curious as to other's experience since many think that dcd 3.2.5 is faster (just not in my experience)
So now I'll be waiting for the official VZW upgrade sometime this century...
normally, i wouldn't butt in on this; but i've noticed my phone has been much less responsive...
I'm not going to blame anyone or anything yet, but for example, when I'm drafting up a text, I can't even add recipients from my contacts, it just sits there and 'searches' forever...
but yeah, that's just my rant for today
I really do appreciate everyone's work and I try to help out the community wherever I can, so I'm not bashing.
If anyone knows of any software issues that are creating sluggishness, please let me know.
Otherwise, Keep up the good work everyone.
I agree
Also, I wont dare bash anyone for the work that has gone into these roms. I only wish I had the skill to do what some of these guys or doing.
This was in no way meant to bash anyone - just something I noticed
Maybe its some program I was running - who knows
While I loved having Rev-A, overall speed is more important to me right now
I may go back to dcd's rom in a few weeks if I find I really need the rev-a but for now its back to stock and some more playing around
(maybe I'll find out if it was a program I was running or not)
by chance are you using HTC Home?
I originally flashed 3.2.5 with the Pre-Built ROM and noticed the build was a bit sluggish. I have since went back and adjusted the page pool to 8.5 mb and some other minor adjustments and noticed a decent improvement in the response.
scrawnyb - Just to give you something to compare to... I just now tried starting a text message from scratch and there was no wait at all when opening the message app, selecting a contact, and sending. I have approx. 1000 msgs in my sms inbox and around 130 contacts. Also keep 2-3 days worth of my outlook inbox synced (~50megs.. wireless sync limitation ).
I was on 3.2.0 (fairly stable, bit sluggish). Went to 3.2.3 (buggy for me, not much better on speed). By far 3.2.5 has been the best 3.2.x rom so far for me. I have to agree as well that the original stock rom was fast but i can deal with the minor quirks here and there to get Rev A when tethering and GPS. Also I couldn't live without threaded sms now!
It has been so long since I ran the stock VZ ROM that I really could not compare it outright to 3.2.5. But every build since that first upgrade has been faster and less buggy than the last. I would have to say that the speed and lock up issues are getting better every new ROM.
I am NOT going to revert back to stock to do a side by side comparison so take my opinion as just that: my opinion. But that is the great thing about all these talented individuals who are customizing these ROMs for the public. There is more than one choice and you have to try them all to find what you like.
I've definitely noticed a delay. It's gotten to the point where even touching the start menu and accessing folders has become sluggish, making the xv6700(I compared, xv6700 in stock rom vs xv6800 updated) appear LIGHTNING fast.
And I specifically remember when I first got my xv6800, I noticed how much faster it was than my 6700... Infact, STOCK 6800 has more free ram than any custom rom I've used!! (27-28MB free when I had to flash back to fix my data connection)
I started off with dcd and now I'm with nuerom v2.2 and things just keep getting progressively slower. I don't know what to tell anyone
It's something you guys are doing that is causing the problems.... period... Just to test, I'll make a ROM and you can download it and flash, and tell me what ya see....
My experience is with every rom upgrade it gets better and better. I can't believe how fast 3.25 is on mine then 3.22 was. Huge difference and just about perfect.
I would be curious to know what apps you guys are running. Maybe you have something in common that is slowing you down?

I've narrowed it down to one of the following:
HTC Home <- this seems to be the most likely
Wisbar Advance <- don't think it's this
W.I.M.P. <- didn't notice a difference by closing this
Stock ROM was buggy and it drank RAM like water. DCD's ROMs blow the stock out of the water.

no - didnt use it with either rom
My comparison was 3rd party preinstall - tested immediately after flash
I've got some apps on the stock rom now and its slowed down just a bit but still more responsive than dcd's latest version
What you use depends on what you need - I dont need rev-a or gps so I'll take the speed

You do know that Rev A and GPS aren't all you're losing right? Have fun with Windows Mobile 6.0 and its crappy memory management, lack of threaded messaging etc.
If Rev A and GPS are what you don't care about...have you bothered to try dcd 1.7.0? Windows Mobile 6.1 without GPS/Rev A, compatible with 1.x.x radios and Olipro 1.20...
3.2.5 is the fastest rom I've seen on this phone, stock or otherwise; AND I'm running it with HTC Home / HHC.

i agree, although i'm not running HTC Home, or VZW stock rom, but this is by far the best ROM of DCD's i've ever run.
WHAT?
I can't really comment on VW's stock ROM since I've never used it; however, I have USCC and have compared it side-by-side with Sprint's stock, as well as Sprint and USCC stock side-by-side with DCD's 3.2.3 and 3.2.5... Yes, I've flashed the hell outta' the two Titans! My personal experience reflects DCD's 3.2.5 to be the fastest (and even most stable) of all. It's awesome! The only problems I encountered I noticed to occur with HTS Home installed (it would consistantly freeze up the unit). I also S2U2 to conflict with FTouch Flo and Slither's Cube (Sluggish). I read about, and subsequently tried, installing HTC Home via HHC and it worked; however, I don't believe that the resulting performance was worth the programs' actual usefulness. I'm sticking with SPB software. DCD's 3.2.5 is hands-down the best ROM as far as performance/speed goes.
Here's my 2 cents worth.
I like the gps but dont need it. I find that it is not nearly as powerful as my bluetooth gps. Certainly nice to have when i dont have my keys with me (my gps is a keychain model). The other problem is that the gps doesnt seem to work when you are outside USA.
I love revA. The upgrade from stock to anything with revA is almost worth by itself.
The memory management of the stock rom is a problem. So dcd has it hands down there.
But the real killer for me. No ICS on the verizon stock rom. Thats the real reason I went to a custom rom. And so far I like dcd's custom roms far better than anything else out there.
Now I agree that some of the dcd roms have not been perfect. For me 3.2.3 for example just wouldnt float my boat. I stayed with 3.1.6 for the longerst time. But I have to say that 3.2.5 is just about bulletproof. As gc said above 1.7.0 was my favorite non revA/gps rom because it was similar. But for me at least 3.2.5 is great. It's incredibly fast and with all the added goodies it make the titan almost a pleasure to use.
Of course your mileage might vary, but for me I can't see much on the horizon better than dcd 3.2.5 (until perhaps verzion release up gps upgrade rom and dcd and cg pull the guts out of it so that we get "instantaneous" gps lock like our sprint brethren.
I swapped over from Verizon stock to dcd 3.2.23 with Radio 3.42.02, HTC Home / HHC, and WkTask 1.1.7.3.
I've noticed a remarkable increase in battery lifetime (approximately 20%), the speed of the phone hardware/response increase dramatically (I no longer have to wait in seconds for the screen to rotate on sliding the keyboard out), and I now have extra features like GPS and internet sharing, which Verizon locks out of the phone while stock.
All in all, my Titan performs faster with a wider range of uses for longer than stock.

Can the page pool be adjusted without reloading the rom? If so, how? Also, what program are you using to adjust the page pool?
Jeff
question: if you guys arent using HTC home what are you using as a replacement that is as good or better?
just curious... I have HTC Home on an older dcd rom (3.1.6) .. it is the only ROM i have ever put on this device other than stock. If there is a known memory leak then perhaps I will update to 3.2.5 and grab a different today screen app.
so any suggestions?
