Not sure if this is allowed, I looked through several "read before posting" threads but didn't see anything about selling.
I am looking to get rid of my spare XV6800. It was used for a couple of months, but is in very good shape.
Before going into an elaborate post with pictures and so forth, is anyone interested? Looking at the pricing, it's $420 new with a 2-year, $490 with a 1-year, and $540 with no contract. Ebay has them at about $250. I am looking for $200.
If anyone has interest, I'd be happy to provide pictures and so forth. No manuals are available, but I do have the original padded sleeve, extra stylus, USB cable splitter, AC adapter, USB cable, as well as a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter.
I'm not real vocal on the forums here but I've been around for a while and I provide the hosting for DCD's ROM's so I am not just trolling by.
Also, it's loaded with VZW's MR1, Google Maps, and the GPS patch, that's all.
Put it on Craig's list.
I had two spare verizon xv6800's. I put them on CL & sold them withing two hours.

that was my next move later today, thanks

Hi everyone, I bought the G tablet for my son for Christmas and having been searching for accessories ever since. My persistence paid off. I emailed ViewSonic directly and called repeatedly until I finally got through to a legit person. I was advised on January 19th that accessories such as a docking station, cases, and other plug-ins are on the way. I was promised to have a docking station sent to me free of charge, so I'll let you know when that comes and I'll post some pictures. The timeline was vague, but he said within 4 weeks the accessories should start showing up at Office Depot and the other retailers selling the G tab. I'll keep everyone posted.

That would be so nice, as long as it's a good price point I welcome accessories here in the states and 'readily' available.
I hope this holds up!
... I'm really tired of shipping stuff.

I'm curious. Did you send in the free dock rebate thingy with Sears or did they just offer you one because you were persistent? I would really like one and I can be quite persistent too.
That's great news - I bought a case from Staples that's meant for the Ipad supposedly that's just gotten a teensy bit too big for the gtab so having a nicely fit jacket would be helpful.
After three calls and 2 conversations with his secretary, the individual I talked with said he had overall responsibility for the Gtab. We talked about the many accessories and at the end of the call he offered the dock. It was from persistence.

What was said here? Can you elaborate?
Carrying cases, cases with keypads, and docking stations were mostly discussed. He kept coming back to the docking station saying it could either stand next to a desktop or alone on a desk. We also discussed the carrying cases, which he made it sound like a leather case because he indicated that it would be nice to take to meetings for professionals. He said many accessories will begin showing up at the retailers, but we really didn't go through a whole list. I'm just as anxious as everyone else to see what many accessories ends up being and the docking station when that arrives.

I hate to sound like a skeptic; however I have heard this same story from them since Thanksgiving and it is always the same time line given. While I would truly be happy if this was real, my advice would be to not get your hopes up too high.
There are G Tablet users on here scouring the web looking for alternatives that work for this tablet. There are also a plethora of new 10" tablets starting to hit the market which seem to have more accessory support than our G Tablets. Those accessories should work very nicely for our tablet and we will then have a variety of items to choose.
While I am a HUGE fan of this tablet (I own 2 of them); I have been very disappointed with Viewsonic and the very poor go to market strategy (or lack thereof) which was employed.
Misses on this tablet:
1: They did not have accessories ready to ship when tablet released
2: The ROM was at best half baked and disappointed EVERYONE; this caused something with great hardware to quickly accumulate a bad rep with little hope of recovery. Lets be honest... it has gotten pretty bad reviews!
3: Little to no marketing effort on the behalf of Viewsonic. (They just dumped it out there and no real fan fare was given. I would attribute that to the fact they knew the ROM was crap and did not want to attract too much attention).
4: No real effort on Viewsonic's part to really turn this situation around; oh yes they have made a few cosmetic changes to the ROM... but really folks... that is about it.
Hits on this tablet:
1: Excellent hardware
Champions:
The XDA Devs who took on the monumental task of making this tablet worth owning! The only reason I have two of these is because of all of the efforts and sharing being done by the XDA community as a whole. Viewsonic needs to finacially support these devs and give all of us an accessory of our choice or ship us an upgraded device (whatever they are going to replace this with in the future) due to the primary fact they we beta tested this device and were used as unwitting Guinna pigs by Viewsonic.
Again... don't hold your breath... you will surely turn blue and die before this happens.
I am very happy with this tablet and for what I wanted in a tablet this will serve me well for quite a while. Just remember when something is Bleeding Edge... it does mean YOU will bleed while trying to make the new technology work!
Just my two cents worth....
I guess we will collectively hold our breath...
Perhaps off topic but has anyone seen any sales numbers (units sold) for the gTablet? It probably wouldn't make economic sense to roll out a line of accessories if sales sucked. I did some research last week and didn't find anything. Plenty out there on competitors tablets though.

I'm guessing not so good seeing how several retailers returned all of their stock. The reviews were mostly negative or mixed at best. All of this was due to crap ROM it shipped with. The average consumer would much rather shell out the extra money for a different tablet instead of going through the trouble of flashing a custom ROM like us.

I agree...
The only thing holding this up is the HARDWARE. I'm currently looking to put a newer ROM on there than the one I put on after I discovered the monstrosity they had shipped it with..
A leather jacket would be great.

I ordered the dock from Merimobiles on the 17th and it arrived today on the 31st. Completely took me by surprise. I was trying to beat the Chinese New Years. I was expecting it in another few weeks frankly. Too bad Viewsonic didn't have a number of these in wait at the launch. Probably needed to rebrand. A sticker would have sufficed for me. Now to get back to testing it ....
Has anyone received a defective docking station? Mine will not charge the Tablet. I placed the tablet in the docking station and plugged the station in a wall outlet with the AC/DC convertor I got with the Tablet. The light on the tablet never came on and the tablet was never charged.
Also, there was something fairly heavy that was moving around inside the dock as you rotated or shifted it. I don't know if something was broken inside or it was just a weight used to make the dock more stable. It just didn't seem normal. When I contacted Merimobiles they seemed upset and said that no one had returned this unit and that it was a very well-made item.
Well, I'm returning it.

Consider yourself lucky. I ordered mine from Merimobiles on 12/29 and still have not received it. I got one reply from them after several attempts that the processing got delayed b/c of Xmas and that it didn't ship until 1/4. I finally got a tracking number and it says it shipped on 1/26. I'll spare you all the language that is going through my head for this company.
I like to see some accessories here in the US also. I’m a little leery about buying thing from overseas vendors. Either way I think we’ll be waiting a while for something to show up.
I emailed for an update on the accessories that are due out and the response "You will see accessories in stores March 1". Still holding my breath.

PM sent about the case.
Just wanted to let everyone know I just received the ASUS USB adapter from a company I found on eBay (you can also buy directly from their web site). They currently still have them in stock. The cost is $24.99 w/free shipping. The price is a little more than some other companies list, but at least this company have them in stock.
Since I can't post links yet, go to the web site mentioned in the thread title and search for 668834.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Does it feel like a good connection or is it a poor fit as others have noted?
The connection seems to be good, however I know what people are talking about. Because the back of the Prime is curved, there is no bottom surface to contact the adapter. This allows the adapter to be deflected if you push on it, however it isn't going to fall out as there is too much friction/tension once the connector is pushed on. I actively pushed on the adapter from front to back and back to front and there was no loss of electrical connectivity (I was actively using an XBox 360 gamepad to scroll from icon to icon).
I do agree with others that say they wish ASUS would have redesigned the adapter for the Prime, but it does work and that is what I needed.
Just fyi, I have ordered two different USB female/female adapters to finally put to bed whether these types of adapters will allow different USB devices to work with the stock cable. They didn't cost much, so I was glad to order them just so I could see for myself.
These two adapters should arrive first of next week and I will update or create another thread with my findings.
If you have any specific tests related to the connection you would like me to perform, please let me know.
Thanks for the response. I'm wondering if the little plastic cover that ships with the Prime to protect the power port can be modified (with dremel) to act as a holder for the USB connector. Somehow attach it to the connector to give it a more secure fit?
Thanks I needed one of these really bad

I have wondered the same thing. I plan to try out a few different mods I have in mind to see if I can come up with a simple design to firm up the seating of the adapter. If I am successful, I'll post some pics and set of steps.
If only it wasn't as long, maybe wider instead, and had the USB plug into the side instead of the bottom it would be usable.

Buy the time I am done with everything I purchased, I WILL have something usable.
Is it Mini Usb or Micro Usb, is there even a difference? Is it a specific type of cord that came with my phone in the first place, or can I pick up any cheapo cord and not notice a difference?
I can't believe I lost it, I still have the wall plugin that uses Usb2.0 or the full sized Usb, I just don't have the cord... Sorry if this is a dumb question but yeah I'm flat broke right now, don't want to have to buy two cords.
Also I'll be going into an actual store to buy it because I neeeeed to charge my phone right now, It's at like 2% battery but turned off at the moment. Would Bestbuy/Futureshop be the place to go, or can I just go into the walmart electronics section and get whatever cords are there? Or should I just get a cheapo cord from Wal Mart and order a better quality one online when I get more money?
Any micro USB cable will do. There's nothing special about one or the other.
I've usually bought them on amazon for a buck or so each. Someone already posted a link in this forum but here it is
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Repla...UOQI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333654884&sr=8-1
It is $1.90 with free shipping.
If you cannot wait I'd just order that, go to BestBuy and paid their ridiculous $20-30 for the cable, use it, then once you get the one from Amazon, return the one at BestBuy.
I've found BestBuy very useful for getting something to use until my package comes from Amazon or Newegg.

not to sound like a ****, but maybe it's people like you that makes **** cost more for the rest of us. plan ahead and save everyone the trouble.
because I'm unwilling to spend $20-30 on something that costs them about a buck? Their markup is just ridiculous. If they had it reasonably priced, at most $5 it would be a different story. But when they have no employees, they close down the front registers so they can have a full 2 people working on customer service, returns, and checking people out, then 2 more running the entire floor for sales, they do not need that kind of markup, so why pay it.

if you find their price unreasonable, then don't buy it. buying and returning a perfectly useable product is a douche move no matter how you look at it.
My local Staples has a combo cable pack for about $10 with two cables - one mini USB and one micro USB.

Great price, fast shipping and high quality cables. The USB cables I bought from them are great quality and longer. I think I punched the 6 footers.
I purchase all my cables from them.

One thing to remember - some cheap microUSB cables possess only the two internal links needed for charging. A true data cable has five internal wires. It's almost impossible to tell from pictures which is which, but generally the two-wire ones are labelled as 'charge only' or something similar.
Caught me off-guard once when trying to connect to PC, didn't know what was up. Turns out the USB connector only had two contacts!
I know this is a double post am not sure which is the right section to post.
I don't know if am posting in the right section but I lost the charger pin that connects to the adapter. Is there a place I can buy just the pin-out for the USA wall connector? The tablet is pretty much useless cause I can't charge it with the other 5 volt USB connectors I have.
Hi,
I live in the UK, and use the non branded charger which is cheap, and definitely more solid and reliable than the official one.
I just had a quick look on EBay, and there's lots of choice:
http://shop.mobileweb.ebay.com/sear...2?kw=asus+transformer+charger&x=0&y=0&cmd=SKW
(Of course its still worth checking the buyers reviews first.)
I've had it for six months.
Compared to 4x Asus original replacements.
Cheers.
I also got an extra charger, I think off ebay. You can get one with a longer cable so you don't have to sit on the floor next to the outlet
I have the same issue as OP; one of the pins got stuck and broke off of the US charger adapter. I've asked ASUS eStore if they would sell me just that replacement part. I'll post here if I get a positive response.
EDIT: Asus eStore said that they will not sell that part individually, but will gladly sell me the whole charger but they are out of stock.
I got a multitude of pins for the charger, with my Spanish Transformer. I just use the round one (Spanish/European standard). I was keeping the others just in case I traveled somewhere I needed them, but I could be convinced to part with the US one (that is, if it comes with a US one!). The bad thing, I have no idea on which one it is! Mind you, postage will be expensive...
I say that anyone who wants it, send me a PM, and make me an offer (trades are perfectly fine, in fact, better than simply paying cash, and on a trade, you'll pay the postage to me, and I'll pay the postage to you. Also, I don't know the exact rules for trades on this board, should I I post this somewhere else?)
