I'm wondering if this is a common problem and if there's a fix for it? Or maybe the solution is something simple that I've missed
When making new calendar entry, the topic will only take numbers when using phone keypad. Everything works as it should be when typing with qwerty keyboard.
Are you sure you didn't just switched to numeric input mode (hold the */T9 button)? Because it's working fine on my S740.
It appears that the user had installed some unofficial language package that broke this. Hard reset fixed the problem

I'm trying to figure out how to solve the problem of typing while I'm on the phone. For example, if I get a call, and need to type out a new appointment, I'll start typing on the built-in keyboard and instead of letters, I'm getting some numbers and symbols instead.
I'm sure this has something to do with the phone app, but it's a real pain to have to peck things out on the screen keyboard.
Does anyone know if there's a way around this?

am suffering from the same problem, its not a problem but meant to be like that but am sure there is some kind of a tweak in the registery to fix the behavoir

Is a well Known WM6 bug in the HTC devices with keyboard. Well known to everyone, but denied from HTC!!
Same bug is in the Hermes ROM, in the beginning they said they will fix it but in my knowledge they haven't, just starting to DENY the problem!
Same old HTC story: deny, deny, deny, as in the HERMES screen misalignment, Trinity Start Meny problems, black Trinity peeling off.....
I asked about PK 2.0 rom but none answers....

The swipe keypad on my vibrant will randomly stop working. When I press any letters nothing happens. Sometimes it will still make the swype trail but it won't put the words in. Then if I change the input method to either the android or Samsung keyboard and go back to swype again it will work for a while but then stop again. It's very frustrating because i love swype! Has anyone else had this problem?
I was having a similar problem, but I switched to the android keyboard permanently because it was irrititating the hell out of me.
I finally just called T-Mobile because I couldn't find a solution anywhere. They said they'll just send me a new one. In the meantime though it's back to the android keyboard.

this has been addressed many time. there's a bug in the swype with the phone. to get the tracing to start working again you will have to change your input method (keyboard) then change back to swype.

I have the same problem right now as well, as a sprint ASC tech I have no solutions from HTC or Sprint. The switching input methods doesnt work for me on my device and neither does restarting the device. My phone is stuck like this.
The problem is with swype from what ive been told though, I hope they update their crap soon.
have noticed this as well. i thought I was doing something wrong at first.
get ultra keyboard, it blows swype outta the water. it does tracing better too if you want that

BUT
situation: when i typing password in WIFI login.
Problem: the blue key cannot function well, it appear some weird character.

I have old HTC Tatto and touchscreen not working, I could replace with new digitizer but maybe problem is more complicated so it is not option.
Anyway I tried factory reset and except I lost all data nothing changed.
Some things I can do with psyhical buttons but can not enter text and passwords for thing like wi-fi..ect.
I got to idea to use it as wi-fi cam but I need idea how to activate google account and enter my wi-fi password in it.
If anyone has good purpose for it please feel free to contribute.
PS I have Entourage eDGe and it supports usb keyboard, any chance that HTC Tatto can do same? Maybe BT keyboard could work?
