Hi - I have just flash Michy's 6.1 Rom to me Advantage, and have a strange problem.
I am trying to get my device to play music through the Aux-In on my car stereo. 3.5mm to 3.5 mm cable. Works absolutely fine with my Iphone, but with the advantage I have the following issues:
No bass - sounds very tinny.
After about 28seconds, the sound quality gets worse.
I hvae tried using the HTC Equalizer, but that starts ok and then seems to tail off. I do wonder if that is the problem.
Plugging the Iphone in and the bass is rich and deep.
So my questions are as follows:
Could it be a Rom issue ( i may put AP4 on this evening to see)
Hardware Issues?
Something wrong with the config of my device?
A problem with the HTC Equalizer?
Any help gratefully received.

Do you have SRS Wow activated? I have heard of it causing problems in some ROMs lately.
Or, just to make sure, is your cable plugged-in completely? My Athena has a very, uh, tight hole.
Thanks for the reply. I have flashed AP4 on it now and everything is now fine.
What exactly is SRS Wow?
Not sure what it is and wether it was activated. Anyway, for the time being I am happy with the AP4 rom - does everything I want it to, inlcuing blisteringly fast GPS.

Hi,
Today I finally got my Sony DR-BT20NX stereo bluetooth headset, but the joy wouldn't last for long. I have paired it and played music with awesome sound quality. However, as soon as I put the phone in my pocket or even just behind my back the sound drops and doesn't resume until I bring the phone back up front. It's just ridiculous. I also have a pair of Plantronics 590A and with them I can easily go into another room without the music dropping. Is their something wrong with it or is there a problem with this headset and the Tytn?
I have the a swedish Tytn with the 1.18 rom.
Edit: Btw, sleuths fix did nothing to help this problem.

I think it is the same on the SONY HBH-DS970, the BT part needs a pretty clear line of "sight" to the Tytn to play without interuptions. It will defenetly not work with receiver in fron of me and phone behind my back.
I t will work with the phone in my front trouser pocket, but can get interupted if the arm is in the way to long.
Interesting to hear that the range seem to be so much better with the Plantronics 590.
What experience does others have with their BT stereo hedsets?
It did not even work with the phone in my front pocket which pretty much renders it useless. Fortunately webhallen.com agreed for me to return it.
My Plantronics headset works superbly and I can actually go into another room still with crisp sound and no interruptions. Since those have worked so well for me I'm considering giving the Plantronics Pulsar 260 a try, although I like the looks of the Sony headset better. Seems to be more cable on the Pulsar 260. You can clip it to your belt and the cables reaches your ears, which I think defeats their purpose.
Can you please tell us which ROM/Radio/Ext_rom etc... you are using??
All but the most current WM6 ROMs have problems playing A2DP you see.
I am using the standard rom, mostly because people have reported better a2dp sound than with the updates. I need the swedish keyboard so I don't have that many choices. However, since my Plantronic 590A have worked so well and with good sound and distance I do not think that the rom is to blame. Also I have not had any sound dropping every 40-50 seconds which many users are reporting. Probably because I have a task manager or setup that works like Sleuths a2dp fix. Also, I tried the Sonys with my Qtek 9100 with the same results.
My setup:
Rom: 1.18.263.2
Radio: 1.07.01.10
ExtRom: 1.18.263.104

OMG....upgrade...upgrade NOW
Having been on this forum for nearly a year and had a TyTN I can almost guarantee that the ROM is the culprit sir. Like I said before ALL but the latest WM6 ROMs have issues with A2DP...im running Black Shadow and A2DP is almost perfect, streaming to several different devices works no problem.

I don't think it has changed the range? Sounds good but still needs a clear line of sight between my Tytn and HBH-DS970.
Using Shadow now and LVSW latest before.
Thats not the kind of performance I (and alot of others) get. Do you have anything else you could test this with?? Like a friends A2DP headset??
My TyTN was in my bag in the boot of the car and was streaming nicely to the car stereo, changing track via the AVRCP function.

Jompao: How is the a2dp quality with Black shadow and do you get the swedish characters on the keyboard with that rom?
I haven't upgraded simply because I haven't had any problems whatsoever with my rom. All the applications I use work like a charm and the a2dp quality was above all my expectations. Than again, I used to use a Qtek 9100 (still own it) and the a2dp quality sucked.
I have a Seidio cradle(which has a built in audio out wired adapter) in my car and also have BT in the car. This setup was working great for music and nav audio through the stereo via hard wired aux audio(adapter built into cradle) and when a call came in the bluetooth would take over until end of call then would revert back to sound from aux audio out into car stereo. This initially broke in WM6 with some of the early roms but was fixed in 2.3.2 DCD kitchen. Now, with the new roms it is broken again both stock and 3.0.1 kitchen. The issue is that when I have my phone plugged into the Seidio cradle and thus have it plugged into an aux audio adapter for sound, if I try to make a BT call or answer one, the sound comes out of the audio out adapter instead of the bluetooth!!!! Same thing happens with a Seidio audio adapter that I have that goes from mini USB to standard mini stereo jack. This didn't happen with 2.3.2 but I would like to stay with 3.0.1 due to improved GPS lock speed. Man, this is driving me nuts. Seems like every time one thing starts working better another breaks!!! Thanks for any help in advance and thanks again DCD!!!! You are awesome!!!
BTW, I think this is a different issue than the semsons adapters are having. I am getting normal audio from the audio adapter for music the rest of the time. The primary issue is that bluetooth doesn't override the audio adapter when a call comes in. Anybody else seeing this with the Seidio audio adapters? Thanks.
I have this same issue when i want to use the phone through BT. Hopefully it is just a simple reg key entry.

update on this. I just went back to DCD 2.3.2 and 3.27 radio. This issue resolved and for some reason my GPS lock speed is a lot faster than before. Not sure why. Also, data speeds for me are much better with the 3.27 radio. Close to double in most areas I am usually in. Obviously not endorsing for everyone but I am happy with this setup unless something else crops up.
I have completely lost the sound from external speakers and coincidentally this has happoened since upgrading to AP4 though I am reasonably sure AP4 was NOT the cause of it. But am posting to see if this has happened to any of you. I was using an external stereo headset in the 3.5mm jack and after pulling it out, the speakers on my 7501 don't work. The weird thing is the phone will RING out the external spekaers but the actual phone calls, media player or notifications won't play out the external speakers. It is behaving as if the unit thinks a headphone jack is still in the 3.5mm slot when nothing is there. The USB port headset won't work either which leads me to believe the unit definitely thinks a 3.5mm headset is plugged in when one isn't. Everything else works perfect. Thoughts? Solutions? Please help -- can't send it in for warranty work as I cannot downgrade back to the original HTC WM6 build because of the AP4 upgrade.
Plenty of people already experienced this problem. Try to use the search function next time.
Nevertheless, here's the solution (probably):
First set up you Athena to play some music, so you can hear immediately whether the sound is working.
Then, try to poke around in the 3.5 jack using the headset (or something similar in size). Inside the jack there's a loose contact which makes your athena think a headset is still plugged in, even when it clearly isn't. After some poking, your sound should be working again

To avoid similar recur best consider a good stereo Bluetooth for music and phone.
I’ve encountered before, repeating inserting a 3.5mm jack may not always resolve the issue.
You guys are the best! (Actually I did do a search but couldn't find the problem referencing the Athena). Anyway, wiggling the headset jack about twenty times in and out reset the loose contact and restored sound from the speakers. I will not be using the 3.5mm headset again. Thanks for the help!

This problem has beset all HTC devices from the earliest SPVs, a matchstick or paperclip often help but a BT headset is easier.
Same problem .... but still not solved
These guys really are the best.
I got the point as to what the problem actually is, Still after poking the 3.5 jack in and out many times the sound (songs n calls) is still not working.
though the incoming ring is working. any suggestions pl .
(Anyway because of this problem i downgraded to spl1.2 and now using mincy's 2.04. it even solved my TCPMP not playing flash vids prob.)

Just to make clear what is happening, the 3.5 socket mechanically disconnects the speakers when you plug in the earpiece. over a period of time the spring contact looses its springiness. this leads to a poor contact and off goes the speakers. by poking this contact you are moving it till contact is made. you are best stopping using this socket if it is showing these signs before you loose sound all together. I am sure you can have a new socket fitted but I bet it isn't cheap. As already stated its best to use bluetooth.
Hope this makes things clear
Jay
If you can get your hands on one, you might rather use a headset with a extUSB jack. For instance, the standard headset from the Touch Diamond works fine on the Athena.
Hello everyone,
My friend has a Sony Ericsson X10 and he loves it! His only problem is that he is suffering from what sounds like frequency loss when listening to music through his head phones which makes it sound quite echo like. I checked it out and I agree that there sounds like some loss, I studied sound in college so I know what loss in frequency sounds like. We put his SD card into my Galaxy S and it sounded fine. We played the music through his X10's speaker and it sounded fine. We both agree that it could be the audio driver being faulty or something similar, were both quite new to Android too so we don't know any cool jigs or mods that could help sort this out.
Any help would be most excellent!
Haven't noticed any frequency cutoffs yet.
Before I got my X10 I was using an Sony NWZ-A828 (Walkman), and it is really hard to notice a difference. Maybe your friend should try to re-flash his rom ?
DAC or Headphone Amp, maybe?
I'm not sure what the echo-sound you speak of is, but I have noticed that everything I listen to through headphones doesn't sound as good as on my iPod or FirePod. That leads me to believe that the DAC is probably not that great (not surprising, this is a phone, after all) or maybe the headphone amp is low-quality. Everything sounds muddier than usual. Also, I experience hiccups, but I think that's due to software problems.
How do things sound through stereo bluetooth, or some other digital connection? It might be the analog electronics at fault here.
today i did a small test.
I installed RMAA on my Notebook and connected the x10 to my Creative X-fi Go!.
I did the same with my Sony NWZ-A828
And here are the results:
(See the attached files)
The X-fi Go! only has got a microphone input, so the roll-off below 100Hz is almost normal
Thanks for your help, I will suggest that he try re-flashing his ROM, if nothing comes of that I will run RMAA onto my laptop and see if there is any problems with frequency loss or anything.
Thanks again!
Hey guys, does anyone have this issue? The audio from the loudspeaker is just crap, and also the position of it is away from the screen?? What sense does that make? I'm trying to watch a video, not broadcast the video's audio to everyone in my general area (except me).
Now that's a physical problem and can't be fixed. What I'm really mad / inraged about is the jack audio. Any type of headphones I plug into is extremely quite. Compared to my old phone (xperia play) I can't hear anything....is this normal? Does anyone else have any similar problems? I can't even wear these outside and listen to music, the wind and car noise is far louder. I'm forced to bring my old xperia play instead just to hear something (which btw, it's like twice as loud on this phone) and if that's going to be the case every day then it's time to sell this Evo 3D.
Another side note is that the range of the audio is also not very good, I can hear it struggle with high ranges as it makes "pops" in the audio...very disappointing..

My audio has always been fine, but maybe you could try using an EQ or something (might need to be rooted)

It's possible that my phone is faulty, but let me ask you this; what volume is your phone at when you think it's fine? I have to place mine at max to be "fine", not great, but fine. While the xperia play is at 50% being just fine.

I personally keep mine at 30% - 40%, it's a comfortable volume. Anything past 70% is a bit too loud. Do you think it may be your headphones..? Or it could possibly be a software issue like your ROM.

Originally I thought it was my rom, so I flashed another; same issue, so then I flashed the RUU...same issue. Tried different headphones, same issue, tried the same headphones on different devices...works completely fine at loud audio. Guess the phone is screwed. It already doesn't have any gsm radio connectivity.

Yeah, a hardware issue would make sense if nothing else is working.

Are you using the HTC headphones? Because after plugging in the original HTC headphones it came with, I found that these headphones are loud and working correctly. So it seems that any other 3rd party headphones will not duplicate the same result. That is unfortunately because I hate the htc ones, they don't cancel out background sound at all. They all have the exact same jack, 3 rings, same size, etc. But the HTC one is different. When plugging those headphones into my xperia it gives an error and says they aren't supported. So it's obvious that HTC put some type of technology into them that differs them from regular headphones.
Edit: Alright, so I tried yet another pair of headphones lying around and they work fine too. Is it possible that I tried the worlds only two headphones that don't work well with this phone? In any case, I'm no longer mad about the jack audio, it's obviously fine. But the loudspeaker is and always will be an issue, which sucks but oh well.

Nope, using third-party (JVC) headphones. Good to see you've got it sorted out though. Also I agree about the loudspeaker, it's a piece of crap. My old Evo 4G had a better one.
My phone is quite loud!
On mwakious Rom and it has tweaked audio settings.
It's gsm but maybe try the xloud mod available. Should improve audio volume
