It appears that the age old trick of soft resetting prior to the carrier customizations running after a hard reset does not work on my new Bell (CDMA) Touch Pro. I am unable to bypass the customizations no matter what I try.
I would really like to see how this new new unit runs without the carrier customizations, and there is a lot with Bell including a new Bell Mobility specific UI call "Bell UI" that can be used in place of TF3D. A lot of bloat!
Any ideas?
Has anybody successfully bypassed their carrier customizations on a Touch Pro / Raphael??? I've searched elsewhere and cannot find a workaround.
I have bypassed them on my VZW, however afterwards i cannot get the touchscreen to work properly, even after calibration :/
i assume the old method u mention is soft-reseting just before customizations run, if they blocked out the reset button have you tried pulling the battery just before, then power up or does it try to run customizations again no matter what?
It will keep loading the customizations.
The files have to be removed with a flash as far as I know.
Very few people dont use TF3d, which is very sleek and works good anyways.
I duno what you guys get compared to me, but my tp works great with a good rom flash, no bloatware in the flash.
Perhaps this will happen soon for you.
If you dont want to use tf3d, just disable it in the today screen options, then it wont load.
Try these 2 methods:
Soft reset immediately after the "Tap here to continue" screen, before you see the message regarding Customization beginning.
Soft reset after the Customization message, but before it actually begins.
The first method works for the Fuze.

You can definitely soft reset during the hard reset boot, but the customizations just start the next time.

I have no issues with TF3D and am using it. The Bell Touch Pro comes with an additional UI called Bell UI, plus a bunch of other bloat. It was all of that crap I was trying to bypass / not have loaded. All of that comes over during the customization

Tried both. I went through about a dozen hard resets one night trying at different spots to soft reset. No matter where I tried, the customizations would still run on the next boot. You can't even get to the task manager to kill the process as all input is locked while the customizations run
Thanks all for the replies. I guess I'll live with it and wait a while until a Bell-aware ROM comes out.
ok on my VZW i must have not pushed down on the touchscreen during the calibration because it works fine...
right after a hard reset it should bring up a pop saying customizations start in 3 seconds then do a soft reboot
once its rebooted it will say it yet again, but go ahead and seoft reset again
now in the multiple times i've done it on the third boot it stops trying to install the cabs

I've done a search on this forum but haven't found this problem listed exactly.
All of the sudden, the icons in setting are gone! Mainly the same ones, backlight, power, HTC X-button, Device Info, etc etc. I have to soft reset to get the icons back but then after some time, they are gone again.
I am running BD3.5. Anyone have a clue why this is happening and how to fix it?
TIA
No one else has this problem?
Has happened to me before on certain ROMs I've run in the past. Appears to be a memory management issue. Always happened after a few days use and a soft reset always solved it. So far, I haven't seen it on vp3G's version of the last LVSW ROM.
Try uninstalling the HTC X button and then power off and on, then soft reset, might cure it.

*Let me start off by saying that i searched both xda devs and ppc geeks for answers to these questions and still havent found anything that solves my problems. I usually am able to find answers to my questions and thats why this is my first thread*
I flashed my Alltel touch pro to a 6.5 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509544) and I have a few questions about the scrolling feature in wm6.5. These questions pertain to all 6.5 roms and not specifically the one that i have on my phone now.
1) When i want to use a kinetic "finger scrolling" method in contacts (and most other applications like file explorer), i realized that i have to hold my finger down on the screen for about a second then i can scroll kinetically. If i dont hold my finger before i scroll, the whole list scrolls just like how it did in wm6.1 contacts. Is there a way i can keep the kinetic scrolling without having to hold my finger down for a second?
2) In 6.5 the start menu, the kinetic scrolling works well but after flicking up or down, it seems like i am only scrolling page by page. No matter how fast i flick up or down, i can never get to the bottom of the list and just wind up going a page down. Is there a way to get continuous scrolling?
3) When i scroll down the home page to favorites, there is a link to internet explorer. I prefer the Opera browser and was wondering if there was a way for me to either change it to Opera or be able to flick to the left or right and be able to start up Opera.
ANY HELP?!?!
ANY HELP?!?!?
I had this same problem.
Do a hard reset, take the battery out, put the battery back in, then do another hard reset, then take the stylus out, then put the stylus back in, then do a hard reset, then push the D-pad button 17 times, then do a hard reset, then you should be good to go.

Im not looking for some stupid joke, I want a solution to my problem. Ive already tweaked with the registry and cant seem to change the scrolling to my liking. Are there any HELPFUL people out there who could answer my question?
I honestly think it has to do with your rom. I am using 6.5 and i can flick up and down with ease. You can try a hard reset and see if that helps and if not just try another rom. NFSFAN has a nice rom, but the scrolling freezes for about 3-5 sec after a while. The current rom i am using (Energy Rom from ppcgeeks) works fine but there is a time issue with it. It goes back an hour by itself, but there is a fix for it. Or you could try dodge longhorn's rom. Both are pretty stable. If you flash and need a fix for the time issue just pm. Hope this helps.
Just Flash Mighty Rom 6 and you'll be good, scrolling works perfectly.

yeah youre right it has been just that rom. Ive tried others and they dont have the scrolling problem but i wish there was a way to fix it. ive tried energy rom and it looks nice but has been slow for me
Like MOBGansta 184 said mighty rom 6 is really stable and fast. The only thing is that it doesnt have TF3D2. So if you dont mind having TF3D, then thats prob the best rom out there.

I found this quite entertaining and he had me until the stylus part.
Not sure if anyone can give some advice on this...
If the battery goes dead or if for some reason the phone has to start up,
It goes back to inital config!! - ie: - tap screen to start, set up the phone etc...
all apps, settings etc have gone, as if its a new phone!!
Its highly frustrating and wondered if anyone can help.....
thanks
......just wondering, does the phone have a small battery that keeps its memory??
maybe that needs changing??
Try a hard reset.
how do I do a hard reset?
thanks
is this right??........
# remove the battery cover.
# observe that by the USB port, there is a small indentation. This is the reset switch access.
# Keep the slider closed.
# power the phone on.
# press the “talk” and “end” buttons; while holding them down, use the stylus to probe into the reset switch hole at a 45 degree angle to the major axis of the phone.
# when you get to the “press enter to reset the phone” page, press the center dpad
yep, thats right
didnt work,
when I reset or battery dies etc. It reboots back, as if its a new flash....
have you tried changing the radio and/or the rom?

The only way to get the phone running again was to install the original htc rom
And it has to be this one:

Thanks for the solution, now it works.
Hi guys,
I finally installed Windows 7 bootcamp on my Mac, and went away on flashing kernel to XWKDD_insecure.tar, and rooting the S2 with S2 Root app. Everything went smoothly, and I now have TB Pro with a couple of apps frozen.
However, one very noticeable change after I flash and rooted was that my Applications button is very hard to activate. I thought I had imagined it, but when I unlock via Widgetlocker slider, and tap the Applications icon on the bottom right, nothing happens with the normal pressure I am used it. To activate it, I must push down with a little force for a second or two, let go, and it will go to the application folder. Also, I have also notice that when I wake the phone, the unlock widgetlocker slider is slightly unresponsive at first, I must also apply more force, hold it for a second, and slide for the slider to work. Before I rooted (6 hours ago), I can lightly tap the application icon, or light slide the unlock slider, and it would work.
Another weird thing is also buttons on the screen works fine thus far.
Anyone have this rather weird problem? I am slightly regretting rooting the phone, because the applications icon just wouldn't budge despite multiple taps... I've tried battery pulls, etc, but the problem persists, especially right after I unlock the phone.
Any input is much appreciated!
Thank you
Did you found a solution? I have the same problem, but I don't know if it's because rooting? This is really annoying.
Same here after CF-root.
and let me add that the return touch key (below the applications icon) isn't so responsive as before rooting!
I thought I was just imagining but I am "glad" you guys having the same problem.
Looking forward for a solution.
Maybe asking Chainfire ?
Well I just installed a stock rom, same thing.
My 'back' button is very un-responsive as well. it's like I really have to hit the spot for it to react.
Am having the same issue with the back key and i am still stock non rooted

This is certainly not the first time I've heard about such complaints, infact a few friends also had this issue as well they had their phones replaced.
Since I cant post on the original dev thread:
the torchlight has a bug:
- works only once
- have to reboot to be able to use it again after it is turned off
reproduce:
- use torchlight by turning on (powerbutton hold and use funciton; has to be enabled in rom config)
- turn off
- try turning on again; does not work
- works again after reboot
mby someone can reproduce and confirm the bug;
it is the only issue I am having with the rom; no freezes everything is stable
this seems like missing reset of bool allow_on = true ;P
+1
But for me,i don't have to reboot.
turn on the light one time work.turn off
If i want to return on dont work.
But if i unlock and relock the phone. It work
Let the phone lock itself don't work
I'll have to unlock and lock him manually
I cannot even get the 14.04 version to run!
I had 10.04 and tried upgrading, without wiping, with wiping, etc. I even tried using different kernels, thinking that maybe there was a compatibility issue there but each time the boot stopped showing the pink frozen unicorn...

very well then it is a genuine bug, since I am sure you should be able to turn the torchlight on and off as you please and not go into automatic lock to be able to turn it back an
Don't know
I just test for feedback.
For me i enable this option in statusbar options and it works fine.
Hydrogen ROM is weak, and had too many problems to call it a full ICS ROM.
No External SD access, bad battery life unless you monitor everything for 3 days, and now bugs with simple things. I wish it worked, I loved what I saw when I was on it, but its just too janky for my liking.
INB4 flaming fanboys.

Have you tried to go onto the Settings and configuring the touchlight there? Try searching the thread, people have been posting about this issue, maybe the answer is in the thread.
