I'm using the 3.42.50 taken from the Alltel radio, I made it available as an individual flash earlier. It seems to work great for me. Without a data plan, I'm locking 4 sats in under 1 minute, and up to 10 after a few more min.
Call quality or signal's never been an issue, so I can't compare on those grounds.
Radio can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2895171

THANKS, IM GOING TO TRY THAT OUT! WHICH ONE DO I DOWNLOAD THOUGH?
Radio Only: http://ppc.stoleyour.net/xv6800/file....50-Alltel.zip
Radio + RUU: http://ppc.stoleyour.net/xv6800/file....50-Alltel.exe
AND ONCE I GET IT HOW DO I APPPLY IT? SORRY IM KINDA NEW TO THIS BUT I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.

Tmanner,
the easiest way to load a new radio is to download it onto a SD card that is formatted FAT32 and is less then 2GB in size. Name the radio file TITAIMG.nbh and go into bootloader (Power, Camera, Reset) mode... this will cause the phone to load the new radio and should eliminate the need to re-authenticate after the upgrade.

blankmic,
thanks for the help but now im gonna be a real pain in the ass. first i do have an sd card but its 2GB, and i have no idea how it is formatted or how to format it in FAT32 format. the other problem i have is the camera button on my phone stopped working so i reassigned the camera function to the voice recorder button. is there another way to get into bootloader? i really dont NEED to upgrade my radio because my gps works fine now, i just wanted to see if i could get it to be a little more accurate (it usually puts me about 15yards from my actual position) thanks for all your help with this man.

I doubt upgrading the radio will make it much more accurate because of the gpsOne chipset and the standards it uses.

I don't know for sure. I only get it to work half the time myself. But I do know for a fact that its been known to be very buggy on our phones. There are a few other apps out there but they just cost too much in my opinon. Someone has a free-ware app but the configuration is best left to a tenured senior network architect. I forget what its called it is so difficult to use.
lol, yea iknow, its will us cellular so i didnt know if that had anything to do with it, and if they disabled something in the phone? but do you know what some of the other more exensive ones are named? i would like to at least mabye look them up.
yeah man i had that fatal error stuff too. you need to install ICS before wmwifirouter will work. i can track down a cab if you need it

Damn it! I didint realize he was on a STOCK rom. I would have told him that as well.
I feel stock ROMS dont belong in this forum! Please move this post to the main thread.
Thank you.
I am not a moderator but he will agree.
Are you using the very latest WMWifiRouter? I purchased it a few months ago and it works flawlessly, but when I tried an older version it always crashed out with Fatal Errors.
I have a USCC 6800 as well, tho I've modded mine, however from the factory the only thing that is disabled/missing is MMS. ICS should work right out of the box, so I don't believe he will need a cab for this.
They are running extrememly old radios/roms tho, like ver 1 rom and ver 1.x radios....
I highly recommend you look into upgrading your phone to a newer radio and custom rom as it will dramatically improve your phone. Mostly you will get RevA EVDO when it comes to your area. Also GPS works and the phone seems to run a lot faster.
Do a lot of reading first, mainly learn to use QPST to back up your phone's programming and after flashing write it back to the phone, verify your EPST info is correct as I just found out recently that mine wasn't and this was why my EVDO didn't work. Other than these 2 things, the rest of the guides on how to flash your phone should get you thru the rest of it.
Any questions, feel free to PM me and I can point you in the right directions.

Fm Radio Hack?

I know there are probally Diamond threads about this but I have been told that what Sprint did to disable the FM Radio on the Pro is not the same. Has anyone figured out a hack or any way to enable the FM Radio? I have the headphones from my mogul which I'm told will work!
Thanks
I've heard a few people think they are close, but nobody has actually done it yet.
over at ppcgeeks some have managed to get it to lock to stations, but without audio, I think it'll be a matter of time before they get it working, just like what happened with the GPS on the Mogul (Titan)

That was no hack. Via HTC to Sprint it was first simply a leak and then an official release of an OS ROM & appropriate radio with the GPS drivers.
For an active FM radio on the CDMA Touch Pro it'll come to us either in the form of the hack or a more mundane delivery as with the Titan GPS by a carrier including its functional state in their ROM. Multiple carriers have now released the phone so the chances of the latter are increased.

Yeah, I know, I just meant that people didn't believe the Titan had a GPS chip, and with a little patience were proven wrong. I really do think that there are some brilliant minds looking into this, and the phone is really new, so they may be able to get it working.
Let's hope so! I'm fairly sure that it'll happen.
Hey i think im on to something with this radio thing i need some help....im using a sprint touch pro winmo 6.5 pro calkulins v1.3 rom build 21139.5.0.0 with radio version 1.11.00f an i the fm radio app works completely but with no sound...i feel im close cause i could hear noise thru the headphones (popping like if you turned your stereo on an theres just noise) but usually i would get unexpected errors an or frustrations from this thing not working at all but i copied files from the "htc test" folder overwritten them to the windows folder an thats it i been flashing roms since i got my sprint touch pro an by far i havent been comfortable with anything of the roms but i feel if i keep digging into things i should get some sound thru the headphones...im using the the hub the sprint touch pro came with and using a regular headphone connection can some please help me out...i know we are smarter then them old chinese people thats making these phones...thank you if any question or valualbe information please let me know....im going to post this at xda an smartphone junkies also.........

I just looked at my Sprint TP, stock ROM, and I don't have a 93 at that path, stops at 90. Sorry!

12.25.08 Verizon GPS Fix v2

PHASE II COMPLETE
PHASE III IN PROGRESS (AGPS FIX FOR VZW TP)
UPDATED 12/25/08
Please read completely. I really don't want to have posts asking about things stated in this post.
First and foremost.... This fix is to be still considered beta at the present time. I WILL NOT be held responsible for any damage to your device or any charges from you carrier if you happen to be in roaming because of this.
Phase II is finally here and I know I've been asked many times on what Phase II meant. Well I now have that answer. The newest release is Verizon PRI 1.46.002 coded to allow full programming updates , full PRL updates NO banner issues and last but not least .... .... oh ya .... GPS .... "takes a bow on this one"
Hope that answers the questions I kinda reframed from answering.
Here we go again
IF SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT APPLIED MY FIX BEFORE ON A VERIZON TOUCH PRO AND WOULD BE WILLING TO DO ONE MINOR EXPERIMENT. SKIP DOWNLOADING PPST1.46.CAB IN STEP ONE AND THEN SKIP STEPS 2 THRU 5. THEN POST IF IT HAS UNLOCKED THE GPS. IF IT DIDN'T UNLOCK, APPLY THE COMPLETE FIX AS PRESENTED WITH NO DEVIATIONS.
FOR ALL OTHERS, STEP 2 IS MEANT TO ROLL BACK THE CHANGES MADE BY PHASE I OF THIS PROJECT. THAT MEANS YOUR PRI WILL BE GOING BACK TO STOCK OEM. NO HARD RESETS ARE NEEDED UNLESS YOU WANT TO CLEAR YOUR DEVICE OF ALL OTHER "FIX" INSTALLS. I WOULD SUGGEST INSTALLING PPST1.46.CAB BEFORE THE HARD RESET. I PERFORMED THAT ACTUAL PROCEDURE ONCE I COMPLETED PHASE II OF THIS PROJECT.
1. download lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2.cab AND PPST1.46.cab and put on your storage card or any folder on your device
2. install PPST1.46.cab
3. use gsfinder, total commander or File Explorer to navigate to \windows\ppst.exe
4. click on ppst.exe and go thru the prompts
5. reset your device as needed
6. NOW install lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2.cab
7. use gsfinder, total commander or File Explorer to navigate to \windows\ppst.exe
8. reset your device as needed
9. Dial *228 option 1
(the above step is the steps I did, option 2 also works but I needed to prove it takes a full update without rewriting data)
10. reset your device
11. Install HTC GPS Tool if needed
12. I would suggest a soft reset... do what you want on this one
13. Open up HTC GPS Tool. Set Chip to Q 7500 and mode to Cold Start (left soft key for those who dont know) then set baud to 4800 and open port.
There will be a registry entry made from this install with the GC's AGPS Values for future use or others testing use. Please understand that my device is not capable of AGPS for some reason. When it's figured out the "GPS Fix" will be updated.
Also make sure that your device settings are right.
Settings >> SYSTEM >> External GPS
Programs Tab- GPS Program Port: Com4
Hardware Tab- GPS Hardware Port: None, Baud Rate: 4800
Access Tab- Checkmark on "Manage GPS automatically"
Make sure you turn your location on thru your phone settings. Some ROM's do not have it enabled by default.
If you take my research and improve on it all I ask is that you atleast give me credit for the discovery. I've spent a ton of hours working with NV files and PRI's.
Hope everyone enjoys.....

well forget it .. i forgot that Verizon were locked and i thought this was to fix lags and so forth and to improve .. well my bad..
Rest assured Bored, your efforts are greatly appreciated. I myself will try this fix when i get out of work. as it is, version 1 never worked for me. no matter how long I fiddled with the HTC utility. I got plenty of satellites used, but none ever fixed, nor did any gps program fix.
Hi lllboredlll - thanks again and general question
I've been following the ppcgeeks thread, btw I would guess everyone on xda is also on ppcgeeks hence the quiet thread here.
I'm one of the stock ROM users whose VZW Touch Pro uses the satellites but doesn't fix right away. They will eventually fix if I leave the HTC utility running and start driving so in every case I can get TomTom connected but it can vary anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes (not really sure on the longer period, that's the longest trip I make, its always fixed by the end.
What's the difference between used and fixed?
Soft reset and immediately going into the HTC GPS app seems to make things go quicker.
Doug
Try installing the Quick GPS Utility and run it once a week. This provides sat data that may help lock times.

New ROM from Scott and lllboredlll working for slow fixing touch pro
I first had much trouble with the stock ROM and lllboredlll's gps unlock. It could work but took sometimes 20 minutes to fix. I unocked the phone and installed Scott's ROM from the day before Christmas. At first I thought I hadn't reached success because while inside it acted like it did with the stock ROM and the GPS unlock. Outside and in the car my XV6850 TomTom 7 is locking quicker than my 6700 with a Globalsat BT-359 receiver. Usually in 20 seconds.
Thanks again to Scott and lllboredlll!

Unofficial CDMA-only "hacked" fix for audio skip/lag issue

Greetings, fellow CDMA Raphael and Diamond users!
Those of you who use third party audio players are, I'm sure, well aware of the infamous audio lag on our devices.
A few weeks ago, HTC released a fix for this issue, but it did not work on CDMA devices -- in fact, it screws your device is you install it.
Well, I spent way too much time reverse engineering the fix to see if I could find a way to adapt the fix to the CDMA version of OEM_Misc.dll (the file that is installed in the fix). Initially, I met with failure. But recently, I revisited the idea and, unbelievably (at least to me), I have managed to produce a version of OEM_Misc.dll compatible with CDMA devices that does not have the audio skip problem!
Okay, before installing, please be advised that there is still a possibility that this fix may mess up your device, requiring a hard reset. I've only tested this on one phone (mine) so I don't exactly have a large test pool yet. lol. Also, I'm not responsible if your phone crashes, bricks, blows up, or anything else.
Now that all of that is out of the way, onto the fix!
I whipped up a cab which will replace the ROM OEM_Misc.dll with the version I hacked to get it fixed. Before you install the cab, you must install the sdkcerts.cab first because all drivers MUST be signed and that is the XDA de-facto standard for signing DLLs.
Okay, to reiterate!
1. DO NOT INSTALL THIS FIX IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CDMA PHONE!
2. YOU MUST INSTALL SDKCERTS FIRST!
Enjoy! And please report your experiences.

I might try this out. I'm not sure if it will work though because i have 9 gigs of music on my 16 gig storage card. I think that is the reason that it goes slow sometimes. Also, I am running a custom rom....would this file have to be renamed in order to work? I know that sometimes chefs change the names of stuff.

No, I doubt it has been renamed. OEM_Misc.dll is a system driver that, among other things, handles charging your phone, updating registry state for various phone properties, etc. I don't know the full scope of what it does because it's hard to tell what something is doing in assembly language, but that's what I discovered. The bug that was fixed was setting a certain timed event that happens every five minutes to a lower thread priority, so the audio driver doesn't skip.
The attached file will ONLY fix the "five minute skip" bug -- nothing else. For example, HTC Audio Manager has been reported having problems playing certain high-bit MP3s sometimes. This won't fix that. It also won't fix slow storage cards leading to buffer lags.
Also, on CDMA systems (at least stock ROMs), the HTC Audio Manager (music TF3D tab) has a special work-around where it plays at a higher priority than the five minute timer, so it doesn't skip. This is only intended if you use third party audio players (like Pocket Player) which don't have that capability.
I installed this patch with success on my Telus Diamond, I held my breath, and got past the boot screen
music plays, not sure about any skips as of yet as I'm at work and can't test it out, but.... since the HTC patch messed up my phone, I tried MightyROM 4.7 and don't think I noticed a skip since then
Has anyone else tested this with success? I guess I would like to know what exactly the DLL change does?

Not to be an ass, but follow the links in the top post. It explains all.
And yea, it works. Of course, I created it, so obviously I'd say that. ;-)
Did not mean to insult you thx1200. Thanks for all the effort, I read the links, and obviously you put some time into this. You folks that have development skills amaze me.
I am going to give this a whirl. I use core player, and it skips, as you mentioned, every 5 min.
Appreciate the effort

How'd I miss this? I'll cook it into my ROM and see if WMP still skips.
Thanks!

Over asking things??? At XDA?!?!?! Are you nuts???
I no longer have a Herman, but I will post this in my guide when I see more feedback on this fix. Good job!!!!
I'm going to try it because I have the issue with the music sucking because of the skipping. I have never had this problem with my Touch Pro until recently.
I am going to try it also because I have another problem in Windows Media Player: when streaming radio stations, it only goes for about 3 or 4 minutes and then stops. I used to stream on my phones for hours. On this one too. But now for the past month or so I have this problem of it stopping.
Thanks, but I tried and it didn't stop the skipping. I downloaded both cabs and after the second, the device restarted. I then tried playing mp3 file in WMP and skipping just as bad. Try and try again.
I meant to reply last week, but forgot, anyhow....
I recently loaded Juicy 8 on my diamond, as well as Kinoma Play (I don't use wmp). I had the skipping problem, badly. At least every minute of playback would have some kind of skip.
I applied the patch and no more skipping. I must have heard about 10 hours of playback since the patch.

I'm glad! Is Juicy 8 a WM 6.1 or WM 6.5 ROM? I'm curious because I haven't heard if it works (or is even needed) on a 6.5 ROM yet. I recently started running MightyROM6 (WM6.5 based), which doesn't seem to have the skip issue and as far as I know it doesn't use my hack. Maybe WM 6.5's architecture is more realtime reliable? (speculating)
Anyway, let me know.
You know, its funny, you read lag issues with playing music
I think, I just got this phone, I don't think it lags. I was using the stock music player built in. I downloaded Nitrogen music player, went to work on the bus with those awesome quality headphones the phone comes with and was listening to metallica, and to my suprise, it sounded like the worse ever downloaded mp3 I'd ever heard. skips, bleeps etc. like someone had a scrached cd when they encoded it or something.
Then I remember there was a fix for it, but only GSM phones, and then I sorta remembered about a fix for cdma phones... I get home and search for it and wow. I found the page.
Thank you. I am already *****y about the phone's inability to recieve txt picture messages (telus) and this fix makes me content for now.
And I have been listening to metallica for about 10 min, I havn't heard any lag issues.
Thanks again!

Verizon is CDMA. That's what this was designed for. I'd be a little surprised if it works on a WM Standard device, but hey! It's worth a shot! Just be prepared to have to hard reset, in case it doesn't work...
EDIT: Also, I am not an expert and I am not responsible for bricking your phone, etc. Usual disclaimer.
Thnx, thx! Not quite brave enough to try it now, maybe after my next reset.
I'll post results when.
*Edit*
Nope, no luck. tried it before a hard reset, wouldn't restart past the HTC screen. Same for after the reset.
:-(
Thanks anyways.

Alltel Touch Pro GPS issue...

I have searched through literally thousands of threads on this and have tried numerous things. Is there anybody who knows EXACTLY what to do to make this work? I have an Alltel Touch Pro with the MR1 update and recently flashed the 1.03.15F radio. I have location turned on and External GPS set to com4 None and 4800, with managed by windows also checked. I would very much like to use Google Maps and have had it working on previous Touch Pros. I am not a complete moron but I have so much misinformation in my head that I just truly don't know what else to try. Thanks in advance to anybody who can help me.
Had the same prob when i first got mine flash the radio to 1.03.09v from verizon and make sure your location is on.
