PHASE II COMPLETE
PHASE III IN PROGRESS (AGPS FIX FOR VZW TP)
UPDATED 12/25/08
Please read completely. I really don't want to have posts asking about things stated in this post.
First and foremost.... This fix is to be still considered beta at the present time. I WILL NOT be held responsible for any damage to your device or any charges from you carrier if you happen to be in roaming because of this.
Phase II is finally here and I know I've been asked many times on what Phase II meant. Well I now have that answer. The newest release is Verizon PRI 1.46.002 coded to allow full programming updates , full PRL updates NO banner issues and last but not least .... .... oh ya .... GPS .... "takes a bow on this one"
Hope that answers the questions I kinda reframed from answering.
Here we go again
IF SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT APPLIED MY FIX BEFORE ON A VERIZON TOUCH PRO AND WOULD BE WILLING TO DO ONE MINOR EXPERIMENT. SKIP DOWNLOADING PPST1.46.CAB IN STEP ONE AND THEN SKIP STEPS 2 THRU 5. THEN POST IF IT HAS UNLOCKED THE GPS. IF IT DIDN'T UNLOCK, APPLY THE COMPLETE FIX AS PRESENTED WITH NO DEVIATIONS.
FOR ALL OTHERS, STEP 2 IS MEANT TO ROLL BACK THE CHANGES MADE BY PHASE I OF THIS PROJECT. THAT MEANS YOUR PRI WILL BE GOING BACK TO STOCK OEM. NO HARD RESETS ARE NEEDED UNLESS YOU WANT TO CLEAR YOUR DEVICE OF ALL OTHER "FIX" INSTALLS. I WOULD SUGGEST INSTALLING PPST1.46.CAB BEFORE THE HARD RESET. I PERFORMED THAT ACTUAL PROCEDURE ONCE I COMPLETED PHASE II OF THIS PROJECT.
1. download lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2.cab AND PPST1.46.cab and put on your storage card or any folder on your device
2. install PPST1.46.cab
3. use gsfinder, total commander or File Explorer to navigate to \windows\ppst.exe
4. click on ppst.exe and go thru the prompts
5. reset your device as needed
6. NOW install lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2.cab
7. use gsfinder, total commander or File Explorer to navigate to \windows\ppst.exe
8. reset your device as needed
9. Dial *228 option 1
(the above step is the steps I did, option 2 also works but I needed to prove it takes a full update without rewriting data)
10. reset your device
11. Install HTC GPS Tool if needed
12. I would suggest a soft reset... do what you want on this one
13. Open up HTC GPS Tool. Set Chip to Q 7500 and mode to Cold Start (left soft key for those who dont know) then set baud to 4800 and open port.
There will be a registry entry made from this install with the GC's AGPS Values for future use or others testing use. Please understand that my device is not capable of AGPS for some reason. When it's figured out the "GPS Fix" will be updated.
Also make sure that your device settings are right.
Settings >> SYSTEM >> External GPS
Programs Tab- GPS Program Port: Com4
Hardware Tab- GPS Hardware Port: None, Baud Rate: 4800
Access Tab- Checkmark on "Manage GPS automatically"
Make sure you turn your location on thru your phone settings. Some ROM's do not have it enabled by default.
If you take my research and improve on it all I ask is that you atleast give me credit for the discovery. I've spent a ton of hours working with NV files and PRI's.
Hope everyone enjoys.....

No.....do you have a GSM TP that is GPS locked?
well forget it .. i forgot that Verizon were locked and i thought this was to fix lags and so forth and to improve .. well my bad..
Rest assured Bored, your efforts are greatly appreciated. I myself will try this fix when i get out of work. as it is, version 1 never worked for me. no matter how long I fiddled with the HTC utility. I got plenty of satellites used, but none ever fixed, nor did any gps program fix.
Hi lllboredlll - thanks again and general question
I've been following the ppcgeeks thread, btw I would guess everyone on xda is also on ppcgeeks hence the quiet thread here.
I'm one of the stock ROM users whose VZW Touch Pro uses the satellites but doesn't fix right away. They will eventually fix if I leave the HTC utility running and start driving so in every case I can get TomTom connected but it can vary anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes (not really sure on the longer period, that's the longest trip I make, its always fixed by the end.
What's the difference between used and fixed?
Soft reset and immediately going into the HTC GPS app seems to make things go quicker.
Doug
Try installing the Quick GPS Utility and run it once a week. This provides sat data that may help lock times.

New ROM from Scott and lllboredlll working for slow fixing touch pro
I first had much trouble with the stock ROM and lllboredlll's gps unlock. It could work but took sometimes 20 minutes to fix. I unocked the phone and installed Scott's ROM from the day before Christmas. At first I thought I hadn't reached success because while inside it acted like it did with the stock ROM and the GPS unlock. Outside and in the car my XV6850 TomTom 7 is locking quicker than my 6700 with a Globalsat BT-359 receiver. Usually in 20 seconds.
Thanks again to Scott and lllboredlll!

I recently bought a TyTNfor almost $900 including a 2 GB expansion card. Despite dozens of hours of trying to get it to work correctly, I find th TyTN almost intolerably buggy.
Specifically:
1) the phone loses connections frequently -- much worse than the Cingular 8125 or my old Treo 650.
2) numerous application programs either crash the device or do not run properly -- specifically, the Audible.com player, the the automated download feature or of Audible Air, most of the SPB utility applications, SBSH Weather (VGA Icons), SBSH Ilauncher and others.
3) the battery life absolutely sucks. I get less than eight hours of operation -- with very few telephone calls. I do have Microsoft push e-mail turned on. However, this ought to work -- for God's sake, or what's the point?
4) the screen/stylus requires re-alignment at least twice a daily..
Is there anyone out there who can help me and walk me through the installation of a new ROM, or some kind of update that makes this device work in a tolerable manner?
I would be very happy to pay you for your consulting time. Otherwise, I want to try to get HTC to take this buggy phone back for a full refund and I will go back to using my old Treo 650.
Many thanks for your attention and future help.
ROM version 1.18.255.3
ROM date 07/22/06
Radio Version 1.03.03.10
Once I hear that you have alignment problems, then, from what I hear you have bad luck since you have one of the firt TyTns out there. I heard that HTC replaces these units. It hapens to be a common problem on the early devices.
I have my MDA Vario II (a variation of a Hermes) and till now 4 days long extremely happy with everything.

Well, I am sorry you are having these problems. I don't think most of them are a Tytn problems in general.
1) First I have heard of this. I have had the Tytn for a month now and don't have that problem. I move in and out of a 3g area and whether on GSM or UMTS, call quality has been great (better than my Wizzard in fact). Maybe your problem is a SIM issue since this phone is not supported by your carrier where you others might be? I went and got a new SIM when I got mine so I don't know if that could be an issue or not.
2) I don't use many apps. I do use SBSH Weather v1.3.3 (regular icons) and it works well. No issues at all, updates just fine etc. I thought the VGA icons were for devices with a VGA screen (Universal for example). To the best of my knowledge the Wizzard, Tytn etc are not VGA devices so I don't think it helps to use the VGA icons, and who knows, maybe it could cause an issue on a non-VGA device. I have heard that SPB has issues. Slingplayer also works well for me, streaming video runs great.
3) I get ~3-4 days out of the battery if just used for calls, weather updates, and light browsing. Heavy UMTS browsing or streaming cuts that down significantly to 24-36 hours. I don't use push mail so don't know there, but there might be a config setting that is causing your device to get polled too frequently. I do know that one time I went into the phone menu and Band page to set Band to UMTS only. I forgot I did that, left a UMTS area and the phone went into constant network search mode instead of switching to GSM. That drained my battery in something less than 8 hrs.
4) I also don't have this problem. There are many reports of this problem though and the only fix I am aware of is a replacement.
Bottom line is I suspect you have a bad phone (reception and alignment issues) as well as setup issues or program conflicts causing your apps problems.
try to upgrade to the lastest rom!

I would love to take your money, but I think you should take it back and get something else. Maybe even a Treo. The reason I say this is because the TyTn is just not ready for Prime Time unless you are a power user or someone who doesn't feel the need to complain because it doesn't work properly. Power user go around these issues and figure out the problems.
This is no way an insult to you, it's just that if you can't deal with the problems, and you need to rely on a phone/pda, and email is very important to you maybe even go as low as to get a blackberry. In the meantime I personally would keep the TyTn and explore it and fully understand how it works. When you are ready to dive in and start using it as a "power user" then you will no longer need to worry about it's faults.
This is coming from 2 years of experience with the O2 Xda IIs. Which was the buggiest pocketpc phone that ever came out and today is one of the top, mainly due to the fact that once the ROM is hacked the development efforts go up considerably and you see increased productivity and usability.
But if you need the money, just get a refund.
Sorry about my blunt response, but I had a friend who I converted from a palm to a Blue Angel. He didn't like it so I got him into a wizard. He curse at it for a while, then he started loving it after a few weeks of using it. Now he would never go back to a Palm or a Treo or anything else. I got my TyTn only last week and have cursed it to hell and back several thousand times. But this is just the way it goes when you're one of the early adopters. Especially when the phone is not commercially available to the US and Canada.
Time heals all.
Fully agree with you axiom, the most sincere response you could have given him.
I also come from the BlueAngel and was one of the early adopters, now running helmi's 1.32 rom, that's why I truely understand what you mean
Thanks pof for backing me up. I am also still using my BlueAngel with with the 1.32 rom but primarily in my car for navigation. This way I don't have to spend another few hundred dollars on a Nav system. And it really bothers me when tomtom loads faster on my BlueAngel then it does on my TyTn, but then I am hopeful that the TyTn will prevail when the time is write and all our heads are in the right place.
As always, everyone is welcome to post their problems, concerns, and findings and I am always pushing people to hang in there because "I know" there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks for all the thoughtful replys - but....
Perhaps this is a device that is a little too early for me. But I will not return it. I love the speed of the Cingular 3G network. And I am blown away by how well Exchange/Outlook push works. I would never go back to a Treo or to a Blackberry.
I was rather hoping someone may have an idea about an improved ROM. I did have a direct conversation with HTCEurope's tech support office. They said they were well aware of the problems with applications, especially with the Audible player. They wistfully referred to the folks in Taiwan creating a new ROM - any month now.
I hoped that one of you might feel that a beta Cingular or other ROM might fix some or all of my problems. And I hope that someone could talk me through the installation. I hope that is true.
Many thanks.

Oh please don't install the cingular beta ROM. Infact, as much I enjoyed using it for testing purposes, the last thing you want to do is start pushing ROMs. I am also waiting for a newer ROM, I was one of the first along with pof and others who installed the cingular roms and found some harsh truths, and some benefits. However, I went back to the dopod rom, with a radio update from the cingular rom. And this was a journey in possibly bricking my unit because going back from the cingular to one of the other roms is a chance and you need your original rom to go back.
If you must pursue upgrading your ROM, please keep a few things in mind:
1) And very important: If you don't know what you're doing, you could brick your unit.
2) A rom upgrade is only as good as the comments it has received from the users on this forum.
3) Most users who use the newest roms are, in most cases, advanced and understand that there will be problems.
4) Once you have started to upgrade your rom, you will be doing it all the time and be ready to reinstall your apps and settings.
If this is all ok to you and you have a back up phone, that you can use while you play with your TyTn, then go ahead and try the Dopod, Imate or TyTn rom. Look through the wiki and you will find all the information you need.
READ EVERYTHING FIRST, THEN START YOUR JOURNEY. The worst thing is having someone tell you "Do a search", or "RTFM", or "Read the wiki". People will respect you more and will be willing to help you more if your questions legit and the wiki can't help you out.
To start you off, I would suggest the Dopod ROM, with radio 1.16. This should take you about 1 hour to update. Then if you're not satisfied with this, then go to the TyTn or the IMate.
I hope this helps, and I have never seen anyone ask for money on here to help our fellow users and if they have, then shame on them. We are all here to learn and teach, this is what makes us a community of excellence.
I hope this helps you and many others on this board. Until the next rom, or hopefully the successful hack of the TyTn rom... Long live xda-developers!

As far as the screen alignment issue goes i am shortly sending my TyTN to HTC (in the UK) to get fixed under warranty (ie free)....the guy on the helpline was REALLY helpfull in sorting it out...they estimate a 5 day turnaround for it which is just SWEEEEET......shall be back to my P900 for a few days URGH!
So afaik the screen alignment can be sorted with an under warranty repair

Dear Prof, Asukal and especially Axiom:
I want to thank you for your responses. I took the plunge last night and upgraded the phone radio ROM to the Cingular 1.16 version using the instructions and files from Asukal.
There were moments of sheer terror. The ROM upload to the phone took hours. In fact, I went to sleep and let it continue through the night. But when I woke up, there was the predicted error message on the TyTN. Just as instructed, after a reset, everything worked perfectly. I will write this up more thoroughly in a day or two after I have a chance to really test the radio.
But thanks for giving me the courage to try the upgrade. I am also including a snippet from a message I received from HTC Support about the next ROM:
"There are no ROM updates available for the TyTN at present, although are actively working one to address various issue customers are experiencing.
We are expecting this to coincide with the Windows Mobile 5 AKU3 update."

ROM is version 1.18.255.3
Date:7/22/06
Radio: 1.16.00.00 (hurray)
Protocol: 32.53.7018H
ExROM: 1.18.255.106
I will give a full report on the radio tomorrow - not enough experience with it yet - and some very minor anomalies after the upgrade.
If you're experiencing shortened battery life, try changing the push email settings (active sync for the mail server) -- if you set it to other than "as they arrive" to an hour or so, for off-peak, it will really reduce the battery drain. Same with the settings for an POP3 email mailboxes -- change the polling interval to a longer duration. I've found that to be one of the biggest battery drains on my TyTN.
I've had a TyTN for more than 2 months and absolutely love it. Sold my k-jam (wizard) because I want the 3G if Cingular USA ever gets it working in my area. I've found the TyTN faster even on the EDGE network locally and better overall than my k-jam -- seems like the issues with the wizard have been largely addressed. Mind you I've never had the screen alignment problem so I can sympathize with those who do. I did switch my HTC ROM to the Imate ROM and I feel like the stability is better.
Slightly better

I think the Cingular 1.16 Radio ROM is just a bit better than the TyTN ROM that was native to my device. It seems very clear and it MAY hold the signal a bit better. My house is in a marginal area, switching constantly between GPRS and UMTS. That may make things difficult. My reception at home is clearer but about the same as my old Treo 650 in terms of maintaining a connection. The 8125 I had on trial from Cingular for a few weeks was better - but of course it had no UMTS.
Might be interesting for someone to do a hack which grabs GPRS during phone conversations in marginal areas and prevents going to UMTS during the call. ?????
I downloaded the fix4cat TyTN tweaker and set audio to "excellent." Not sure what that does, but excellent sounds good. I also enabled HSPDA, but that seems to do nothing.
Anyway I am happy.
The audible player still does not work worth beans (boohoo - their tech support is NO HELP AT ALL) and I had a really terrible experience with Chapura Pocket Mirror which I used successfully on the Treo for years. I need to synchronize public folders on my Exchange server. Any ideas? Chapura is brain dead, temporarily broke my device and made me spend hours recovering my programs and settings.
Finally - anyone ever able to get into a Cisco firewall and look at files on the company server with the VPN software in WM5??? I have tried using PPTP – no luck.
And really finally, thanks to everyone who helped. (Battery life better with push email off and TyTN magically stopped alignment drift completely and I am no longer a ROM virgin).

I am a newb but managed to get dcd 3.0.1 and radio 3.35.04 on my Verizon 6800. Everything seems to work but I have a GPS question or two.
Under System Settings>External GPS....what should the settings be? Under the Programs tab mine is on COM4. On the Hardware tab my GPS Hardware Port is set to NONE. Baud rate is 4800. On the Access tab the check is next to Manage GPS Automatically.
I am trying Google Maps .cab and have it set to use the Windows GPS settings. Is this OK or do I need to set it manually? How long does it normally take to acquire on a first run....assuming no problems with ROMS?
Thanks for your time. DCD....you ROCK!
there are dozens of threads about this... including the gps faq.
So, polite suggestion for the future (which you will see on 50% of all the threads on this site). Search, before you just post a question.
That said, it'll take up to 5 minutes, but usually a lot less than that the first time, and after it's usually faster... but that's with a clear view of the sky. your mileage may vary depending on where you are.
you don't need to touch the external gps settings, use the windows gps settings, and on google maps the default should work fine.
Good luck!
So the default settings I have should work?
I used the search and found various info and never saw the GPS FAQ. I'll search again.
Thanks for your time.
I like DCD's setup. Very clean. Nice having apps close for a change as well. I hope to contribute to this forum once I get used to this device. I just got it Thursday and started hacking on it from day one. I think I enjoy the actual hacking part more than the phone.
Found the GPS FAQ. Thanks!
I had the phone on 911 under the Locate section. Set it to on. Gonna go test it now.
HOLY SMOKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nailed me in my driveway. Took only about 1 minute to get 5 or 6 satellites. Fantastic!!!!!!!!!
You gotta wonder why they disable this in the first place. The sweetest part is that I'm not paying VZW for a GPS feature since I have unlimited data. I have a buddy who got the same phone the same day and he said he was disappointed that it didn't have GPS. I'll be seeing him in an hour since his son plays on my little league team. I'm gonna have fun with this! I'll make him give me 20 bucks for the update and then I'm sending it to DCD and friends. Seriously!
Everything is working perfectly on my unit.

GC--can you do a cab for this now for the less skilled?
I'm a tech, so I don't mind the registry editing.
I just love standardization.
e.g., Sprint-do this; Alltel--do this (same steps, different numbers.)

This was exactly what I was looking for! After following these instructions I've been able to get a lock within 30 seconds. Even inside my apartment or office!
Awesome instructions. Went from a 10 minute lock to 10 seconds. Can't say enough how well this works.

PPC6800 (Alltel) GPS problems...
Lemme just say, yes this is my first post and I have to start somewhere so why not with a question...
So I've been trying to get Google Maps to initialize the GPS reciever but it never does. It simply replies back with "No GPS reciever was found." and I know the reciever is there because at the very least the phone has to be E911 compliant so is there something I could do to further this process or am I an idiot and didn't notice something? Anything would be helpful and thank you in advance.
You did go to phone > menu - options > services > Location setting and turn it to on, right?
Ok, I guess I should ask, you do have a GPS enabled radio installed? This thing isn't Alltel stock is it?
In addition to that very valid question
If you are running custom dcd roms 3.2.x and you have alltel there is no excuse for not running radio 3.37.20. It wipes out all bluetooth, wifi, gps, and poor signal problems. I never have to wait more than 5 seconds on cold start for gps with amaze gps and never more than 10 seconds with google maps. I would recomend dcd 3.2.6. Secondly do go to location settings->on. Make sure bluetooth gps in settings is set to "com 4" and try cycling wifi and bluetooth on and off. Also hook back up to QPST, dial "##3424" go to "gps one" tab then click on the bottom "read from phone" and check your settings to make sure they stuck (!!!Do not save anything!!!). Dial ##3424 again and click "Exit" then "OK" then soft reset.
What you need to do
The questions have been asked, and it seems that from your first post that you may not have done any flashing of your phone. I can tell you that I have flashed to the below information in my signature for the first time ever using the MicroSD card option and also followed the instructions in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425565
Prior to following the instructions in that thread I could get GPS Sat lock, but only after a very long time. Once I made the changes it locks on within 30 seconds at the most. So if you have not upgraded your phone I would suggest you do so. That will solve your GPS problems
Well thank you all for the replies...Yes, its on. I checked the super GPS thread for what I should do...
Since nothing seems to be working I think I will take your guys' advice and trying flashing to DCD 3.2.6. Is there a database of stock ROMs so I can at least go back if something doesn't work out?
Didn't work for me either. Fresh flash, followed the directions to the letter.
Is there a version of the Titan that shipped without the AGPS chip?

Antitux,
Nope--they all ship with the chip. Just read READ READ, and you'll get it.
Since the shadow-tech and GC14 updates, it now locks FAST. The location setting is definitely the most common reason people don't get it. Of course, you MUS unlock the GPS by running a patch or completely updating the firmware with one from here or ppc geeks.
jtg
also as shadow-tech says in his instructions be sure when you are in QPST you load to phone while on the GPSone tab. Otherwise it probably won't work.
Complete tutorial now complete for Alltel. Link can be found in post 2 of this thread.
Nope. Didn't work that time either.
Going to reflash one more time.

I successfully got the gps working on my first vz 6800 and loved it. Thank you everybody that provides information to make this possible. Due to a broken external antenna plug i had to get a new vz 6800.
I can not for the life of me get the gps on the new phone working. This is what i have done so far.
Rom Version: dcd 3.3.4
Rom Date: 11/09/08
Radio: 3.42.30
I dont know if these mean anything but

Hardware 0003
PRL 51251
Pri 2.03_002
Browser MSIE 6.0
I went through the Verizon vz 6800 aGps fix everything made sense up to When the phone reboots, install GC Verizon aGPS.cab
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you
There many of us having the same problem. Sounds like Verizon is up to something.
The agps servers are probably down or verizon changed the ips.
Other things that got me to this point
I forgot to post that:
I was running the radio 3.35.04 for a while because i could not get the 3.42.50 or 3.42.30 to load. It was cool to see the sprint logo go across the verizon screen.
After finding the post that helped me I went to the 1.20 olipro then got the 3.42.30 to load and went back to the 2.40 olipro
I hope that verizon is not going to figure out how to disable our ability to use the agps. The google maps work a lot better than vz navigator.
ips change?
how does one find out if the ips is changed and can the phone be modified to work again?

We are talking about this here.
I know this thread is for the MR1 but the solution, if any, would be the same. We may not have the instant locks if the IP changed, hopefully it is just an intermittent problem.
I don't know yet, but Telus settings seem to fix aGPS. Set these in QPST and registry.
For Valhalla:
Then just change these and Soft Reset:
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode=2 (the original value)
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEAddress=5C8BC6D8
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEPort=8889
Thank Humpa at PPC Geeks for the above.
-------------------------------
For Custom Roms
216.198.139.92
8889
IP
PDE
EnableAGPS = 1
GPS Mode = 4 (2 would probably work too)
When you got your new phone, did it already have the MR1 upgrade applied? If I remember correctly, you have to downgrade to an older ROM with an older PRI and then flash to a custom ROM. Otherwise, you can use the Valhalla Legends CAB. Lately, I haven't been able to get a fix on any satellites, so you might be having that problem.
continuing problems with xv6800 gps
Hi everyone, I just registered to discuss ongoing problems I have been having with my gps. Let me give you a little backround.
Several months ago, I noticed that VZ nav was available on my xv6800. I had wanted that when I first purchsed, but was told it probably wouldn't be available. At that time , I purchased a Garmin gps package that included a bluetooth gps receiver and the XT 20 maps program. I found out that in order for VZ nav to work, I needed to upgrade to MR1. Then I read that once I did this and instaled the Valhalla CAB workaround I could use a third party GPS app. WOOHOO! I did and it worked great......for about a month.
Since then I have gone through 3 6800's thanks to some fancy footwork with the Verizon tech staff and everytime, I can get my GPS to work with the ValHalla workaround for anywhere from over a month on the first one to just 2 hours after I received my latest one 3 days ago. In fact, I wasn't able to get the new one to work at all until I called and added VZ Nav service. I had already thought that maybe they had sent down a kill command on the other two to close this hole. (greedy !!/[email protected]#$!s)
To prove my theory about them closing the workaround, I cancelled the service an hour later and after restarting my PDA, I no longer get a signal when using Windows Live or my Garmin software. This is the same problem I was having with the first 2 replacments, but it always took a few days before it stopped working. This is the first time I added VZ Nav to the mix.
After reading other boards about people having similar problems I figured I would tell what I have been through.
I had it working great when I first did it, but after a month or so, it stopped working and thats when I had them send me a replacment.
I hope this helps someone figure out how to get around this latest roadblock and come up with an alternative workaround. But at this point in time, I have loaded this patch enough times to say with complete certainty that the Valhalla CAB fix is no longer a valid workaround. If someone smarter than me could figure out what happens when you add the actual VZ Nav app, then recreate it when it is cancelled then that may solve the problem.
Just my two cents, but I am a professional Field service technician for HP and feel I confident in my troubleshooting
My radio and software are 3.37.78 and 3.57. The last 2 replacments came already pre-installed unlike the first one that I had to go through the boot up. I have reset it from boot twice and nothing has helped.

Yes i know not another GPS thread i do apologize but every other GPS thread doesn't touch on the subject Windows 7. Which seems to very limited in guides and such (I miss xp it was so much easier) but those days are gone, and now i have to make due with windows 7 which isn't half bad. My issue is I'am using
Version 3.2 Heavy (WM 6.5) *WM7 inspired UI*
Build 21885
Radio 3.42.50
First question is this build even gps compatible im sure it is
Second ? the radio im using is the GPS enables radio right?
Third if all the above are correct why wont my phone get a lock on any sat's
ive used Gps viewer wich comes with the rom and it sees the gps on com port 4 but it doesnt seem to lock on any satilites
again im sorry for posting on a topic that has alot of Info but im straight confused if i missed a step or something plz dont flame if this is a bad topic remove it but i dont care to argue with anyone ty
I can help you out but I need a little more info about your phone. Are you by any chance using a Verizon or Telus branded Mogul? (xv6800, p4000)
Also what carrier are you using?
Its probably either you aGPS settings arent set correctly in service programming or the GPS on your device is locked altogether. Either way I have a fix for you, just let me know some more info.
Yes i am using verizon xv6800 with verizon i have followed the qpst steps and the tellus gps cab install still to no avail i apreciate any help you may offer
ANd ya i think your right that its locked altogether i went from the verizon rom w/ wm 6.1 to your rom i posted above some ppl say u need to go to a leaked rom first the to custom wich i have no clue where this "leaked" rom is
My gpsOne info is
All 9 checks in the boxes
PDE IP address: 216.198.139.92
PDE port: 8889
PDE Transport: IP
Position calculation: PDE
I hate the fact verizon locks up these awsome phones there dwarfing the potential even though the xv6800 is abit older it seems to have a huge following
GPS
On my Verizon XV6800 the IP Address is; 216.198.139.92. Try that and see if it works.
ill give it a shot wonder if i miss typed it we'll see
Ya i had the 92 just miss type ty for pointing that out
GPS
Also my Position calculation is set to Mobile not PDE.

Just follow these instructions to a T, do not skip anything, do not miss anything. And read it several times until you understand what needs to be done. Just be patient and take your time. Also another tip is dont let your phone sit to long in bootloader or you can error out while trying to flash. Put the phone in bootloader literally right before you are going to flash something.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3687027&postcount=144
And do not use any valhalla, or telus agps CABs, just follow my instructions perfectly. And on my Verizon ROMs the aGPS settings are as follows. Make sure yours are the same in QPST and after all is said and done your GPS should work like a champ. Remember (DO NOT SKIP ANYTHING IN THE LINK ABOVE!!)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]
"ServerPort"=8888
"ServerIP"="66.174.95.132"
If you are going to use the Telus or Alltel Server instead of the settings above, then make sure you make the registry location the same as in QPST. Its all up to you, just get your GPS unlocked first using my instructions.
the issue is none of these work on windows 7 X64

Thats a good idea if you are going to be messing with Custom ROMs and so forth, dont forget to fully update your Operating System and then install Active Sync first then HTC windows drivers second. All found in my Unlock Tools Directory.

Thats why you should wait and test before you post. Especially if trying to test inside an apartment.. It is well known that for GPS you want a clear view of the sky for a fast GPS lock. Inside it could take up to 10 minutes depending on the circumstances or cold, warm, hot start.. Glad I could help you out and get it working.
you are 100% correct and i should have known that i appreciate your time
