MMS on Verizon with DCD 3.1.2

I have MMS working on DCD's newest 3.1.2 ROM with the 3.39 Radio as well.
1. I installed the 3.39 Radio using the stock Sprint 3.39 Test ROM.
2. I installed DCD's 3.1.2 ROM using the kitchen with the Arcsoft OEM from DCD's 3.0.4 Kitchen cooked in.
3. I installed the Verizon Customization CAB
4. I added the string X-VzW-MDN with a value of my ten digit phone number to HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader in the registry.
5. I changes the MMS setttings to:
Server settings that need to change:
Gateway: "blank"
port: 80
Server address: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Sending Size limit: 300k
Now my MMS works fine.
Hope this helps people since for some reason everyone sort of skirts around this topic.
did u try MMS video? just seeing if yours is working ok. mine was working then it wasnt then it was...
There is a thread SPECIFICALLY for mms on 3.1.x. It was started to stop the crazy amount of posts in the kitchen thread and to thwart against tons of new threads like this. Please, from now on post in that thread to discuss ANYTHING to do with MMS on 3.1.x
Thanks

Thanks
Yes this fixed mine as well. Thanks for posting it.
You guys do know that there are other people out there on other carriers trying to get MMS working too? That's the reason for the dedicated MMS 3.1.x thread.
Also, you do realize that if you use the verizon carrier cab that I posted, with the MMS settings, and not the new one, that you don't have to go in and change anything in the server settings.
gcincotta maybe I found you. I have falshed my xv6800 w/ dcd 3.1.2 with the 3.39 radio and I installed the verizon cab. Everything is werking fine after the over the air prog. But the OS does not have the personal settings tab, there is no voice command, and there is no slide sounds settings. Can you please advise??? please...

MMS settings are different for each carrier. That's why it doesn't make sense to do your "collective MMS" thread.
Say i have verizon, i need to sort through tons of unrelated crap to find an answer. This thread is short, concise, and it works.
Please stop complaining.... If you have a CAB which does this for us. Than please post it.

This is not complaining, this is common sense. MMS settings are indeed different for each carrier, but if you actually read my posts you'd find that you do NOT have to touch your settings WHATSOEVER as long as you use the carrier cab WITH MMS settings. I do have a cab that does this for you, and if you took a minute to fill out a search box you'd find it ALONG with my instructions on how to make it work. All you have to do is enter your MDN key, which can be done using UC AUTOMATICALLY. As far as I'm concerned, this thread is pointless and clutter, as EVERYTHING stated in it has either already been said, or is moot.
If you search my posts you'll find that I help a LOT of people, and I love doing it, but when ignorance like this is thrown into the mix, it makes it a lot less rewarding.
Halkeye, shoot me a pm and we'll get your situation squared away asap. No reason to continue this thread, especially with off topic stuff.

Well i just did a search "Verizon MMS" it came back with this thread and your other thread and a bunch of useless threads (no i didn't look at every one, if it doesn't have a clear title no one will look at it) none of which have this CAB file your talking about. Regardless These instructions are great for people who have already run the DCD Verizon customizations and don't want to re-flash and then run your customizations. I still think this thread is relevant and again if you have this CAB i think it would still be useful to post it.
I will be posting complete instructions in the other thread along with the cab file.
i dont get it, what the difference between mms and sms...i can already send photo or video as txt message attachments, and the receiver gets them just fine...whats the advantage of sending an mms message?

September 24, 2008,
Ok Alltel users, you ready for some testing? I've posted Beta 1 for download. If you already have an Arcsoft cab installed, uninstall it first. The setup dll is incorporated and should add a string value of "X-Alltel-MDN" with your MDN with a "1" appended to the front of it as data to HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader. I don't have Alltel so I haven't been able to test anything AT ALL except the setup dll, so I apologize if it doesn't work. Don't forget though, this is only Beta 1.
Please post your results for both sending and receiving.

September 21, 2008,
Alright, I've updated the VZW 5.0.70.24 cab. The Alltel setup dll is still being worked on so please be patient. I'm also now working on a beta USCC Arcsoft cab, and if I get the proper information for Cricket, that's next.
I've fixed the following bugs (I think) in this latest cab:
- Date/Time issue some users reported
- Default connection now properly set to "Verizon Wireless" instead of "The Internet"
- Send limit options now properly displayed as 100K, 300K, and 399K instead of 0K, 0K, 399K, 0K, 0K.
- Default send limit of 399K now properly set upon install.
Ya just had to ask my friend....
Where is the link??
In the first post
All worked for me as you have directed. I will actually test the MMS here and report back.
Update:
Both versions have installed and worked correctly for me. Thanks gc for making this easy for us.
I have MMS working on my phone with dcd VZW Arcsoft MMS 5[1].0.31.19 which GC i think you posted in another thread on here recently. It works fine for me. What is different between this one and the one i have?

I have coded a setup.dll in Embedded C++ which is included with Arcsoft for Verizon customers that gets rid of the need for Mortscript and a soft reset in order to retrieve the X-VzW-MDN key.
Testing of this would be greatly appreciated, as in the future we'd like a complete out of the box Arcsoft solution for all carriers. This is the first step.
Everything worked and was in the registry as you said.
It did not send at first, then I looked at the servers in MMS. The sample server is gone now with the Verizon Server being the only and default.
Within that, I scrolled down and it said that "Connect Via: The Internet" I changed it back to Verizon Wireless and works like a charm. Sent a pic to myself, send and receive are now flawless. Great Job.
I am not sure if Conect via the internet was a fluke or not. Just thought I would let you know.
I'm not sure what is supposed to be different about this one vs dcd's last cab release... but still no camera/attach integration working.
Is there any way to post the OEM that I can drop into a kitchen. I am going to redo my ROM and would like to include this.

sorry GC I don't understand what this means as its a little high level for myself. I would love to try it anf provide feedback but without knowing what i should be looking for I can't do much.
Running latest radio and DCD kitchen rom.
Previous Version: DCD 5.0.31.19
Uninstalled and checked registry per instructions, then soft reset.
Ran cab, installed to Device.
X-VzW-MDN was set correctly.
I could not send a MMS at first, but I think it was because I had it hooked up to ActiveSync. I was just now able to send and receive a message with no problems.

This is the exact same build of Arcsoft that was included in dcd's cab. Therefore there will be no fixes or included features. I think a lot of people are confused about the purpose of this. I'll explain at the end of my post.

No. That is defeating the whole purpose behind this project. The Arcsoft OEM was purposly removed from the kitchen in order to develop an out of the box MMS solution for ALL carriers.

The Arcsoft MMS package used to be included in the kitchen (along with carrier selection). dcd removed it because each carrier requires its own settings, whether it be an X-blah-MDN key in the registry, different server settings, etc.
For a while now, our goal has been to develop a setup.dll to be included with the cab install which will run a carrier check, then provision Arcsoft correctly for that carrier. It requires a lot of coding to interact with the registry.
dcd's Verizon MMS cab has the Verizon MMS server info hard coded into it (which is why it won't work for other carriers). The only downfall to his cab, was that it still had no way of including that one beloved registry key that we've all known to love...X-VzW-MDN, which is different for every user because it needs to be set to their own phone number. In order to circumvent the problem, dcd included Mortscript and a script that adds itself to \Windows\Startup so the next time you soft reset, the script runs and fetches your phone number from the registry to set the key and then deletes itself, hence why a soft reset is required when using his cab. This was only a temporary fix, and only worked for Verizon as the mortscript was hard coded as well.
As I said, this is the first step in this project with much more to come. This cab is stripped of Mortscript and the start up script, and includes version 1 of the setup.dll I mentioned. So far, it's only coded for Verizon. I've asked you guys to test it, just to make sure this part of it works. Later, I'll hopefully be able to add more code to make it work cross carrier and fetch the required information.
Hopefully this clears it up for people.
Hopefully this clears it up for people.
Thank you GC for your explanation! I think this should minimize plenty of questions/concerns you may have gotten. Also thank you for your continued interaction in the forums!
Haha I know I just posted this cab for testing, but in this short time, I've managed to stumble across a newer build of Arcsoft and I've edited it to include the setup.dll. So if anyone wants the new build, I've posted it in the first post.
SWEEET ASSS CAB..... GC - Very nicely done.....
I cooked the program into my last ROM. Could I remove the registry string and then install you newer version to see if it picks it up? Would that be a good test?
I don't see why that won't work, give it a try... what was your previous version...?

I was on ver: 5_0_31_7.
I deleted the whole ArcSoft folder key and then rebooted. Then installed the newest cab and it pick up the registry string correctly. Seems to be sending and receiving after the install with out any other adjustments.

Hmm...it may still be working, but you might not have it installed correctly. You might be using a cross between the two. If it works for now, that's fine, but the next time you flash or perform a hard reset I wouldn't do it again like that.
Just for curiosity...when you open up SMS \ MMS, and go to MMS Options. In the About tab, what does it say for your MMS Composer version?

Help!! Can no longer make or receive phone calls after upgrade!

I have Verizion Wireless. I just installed BootLoader 2.40, Titan_Radio_ROM_3.42.30, dcd_titan_kitchen_3.2.2, and dcd Verizon Carrier 20080706.cab. I don't know if I was supposed to, but also did *228 option 1 to program my phone and *228 option 2 for updating roaming cababilities. The internet works fine on the phone and I can recieve text messages without any problems, but I can't make or recieve phone calls. Thanks for your help and time!!
Gonna go out on a limb here and guess that it's saying you're not authenticated?
You need to call Verizon and have them authenticate you. It's normal when you go from stock to a GPS radio.
I go with gc14 on this one. Just had the same thing happen to me a while ago after just doing a hard reset...no update ROM, radio, or anything. Just hard reset and no more authentication...what a pain. lol
Oh, yeah. I listened again and that's what she said. OK, I'll call them tomorrow.
I even got my TomTom GPS software working. I didn't need to use any 3rd party software to get it working either like it said on the forums.
I even got Opera Java working, but I got some kind of message when I was installing the Java software saying that Sprint couldn't guarantee something. I don't remember the exact message, but I don't have Sprint, I have Verizon. Did I install the wrong ROM or something? Am I going to have problems now? Thanks!
How come everywhere I go now it thinks my phone is a Sprint PPC-6800, when it's really a Verizion XV-6800? I just went to Yahoo.com and it's calling my phone a Sprint PPC-6800. Is this going to cause any problems with my Verizon account? Thanks..
OK, I called Verizon this morning and they gave me a new A-Key, and I can make and receive phone calls now. I got a couple of other issues.
When I go to Messaging only Text Messages are their now and MMS Messages are missing. So, I can't figure out how to Send picture or video messages anymore. Before when I clicked on a pic it gave me the option of sending it via MMS and that option is now gone. Now, if I click on Send it takes me to, "Select an Account" but only Text Messages and Setup E-mail acount is there now. I don't know if the new version of WM6.1 handles MMS messages differently but I can't figure out how to send MMS text messages anymore. Am I missing something?
Also, I installed the v5 of the camera software and I can't figure out how to turn on the Flash. I've been messing with it, but can't figure it out.
Well, those are the only two issues so far, so hopefully somebody knows what's up and if I get them fixed I'll be really happy. Thanks everybody for all the help!!

I don't use text messages, so I can't be sure, but I think there are other links about text messages. You likely need to install a program. Try searching and let us know if you find it.
As far as the flash with v5 of camera, I think you are out of luck. My memory is there is no flash. There is a way of installing the old camera back without doing a hard reset. I just don't remember how to do it. You can try searching for this too. Again let us know if you find it. Hopefully someone else will be able to help more.
Yes, I think I found the solution, I did what it said and now it says SMS/MMS, but I haven't tested it yet. So, I'll see. I just need to know about the camera now. That's the only issue..

You really need to read through a whole ROM thread to understand all this, but there are so many little "Got ya!"s that the pay off is there. The Wiki is also a good place to start.
These three pages explain a lot of the issues:

If you read the details of DCD's stuff you find that the kitchen/rom does not contain anything network specific and you MUST apply the OEMizer tool afterwords. The link to the verizon one is right in the post. That will solve some of your issues.
Also DCD has explained that the updated camera software was ripped from a phone that does not have a flash therefore it is not supported in the software. If you want the flash, you need to downgrade.
Here is the updated link to Arcsoft. Works perfectly. The only defect I see is that incoming MMS show the phone number and the name in your contact. But when you reply as a text it comes back.

1st - The camera you used is version 5, to have the flash again you will need to re-cook a ROM with version 4.X....
2nd - For the latest MMS, use GC14's 5.0.31.25 cab of Arcsoft. The incoming MMS issue where the phone number is shown instead of your contact has been fixed. Find that cab here MMS 5.0.31.25
Yes, I've already read all of those links many times. I saw the information about the OEMizer. It said it was OPTIONAL. It doesn't really tell me what it is, or what it's for. Since this was the first time I ever installed a new bootloader, radio, rom and VZW cab, and didn't really know what I was doing, I didn't want to make it too complicated and overwelm myself. I still don't know what the OEMizer is, but I guess I can run it and see what happens. I need to make a new ROM anyways for the camera. I still have a few questions.
- What is the OEMizer for and is there someplace that explains it's settings?
- I can't find OEMizer in the Kitchen's Tool directory or any of the other Kitchen's directories. Where is it at? I did a search on the internet and couldn't find it.
- What is PagePool Changer? Is that something I need to use?
- Now I have the latest bootloader and radio installed in my phone already, can I make a new rom via the kitchen and just install it without having to worry about anything else?
- I guess I will still need to run the VZW cab file after I install a new ROM, but that should be it, right? Just those two things?
- I need a free registery editor. It looks like to upgrade to the latest Arcsoft MMS I need to edit the registery since I have an older version of Arcsoft installed right now.
- WM6.1 is grouping all my text messages together, which is great and I love it, but the only problem is sometimes I want to deleate one text message and it seems like you can't and you have to delete all the text messages from the same person. Is that true, or is there a way around it?
Thanks everybody again for all your help!!!

There is no need for any registry changes with my new version of Arcsoft. Uninstall the old one, then install the new one.
To use this, uninstall any version of Arcsoft you may have installed currently. Once it is fully uninstalled, check your registry and make sure there is nothing for Arcsoft under "HKLM\Software." Next, install this cab. Once it is done installing, check your registry under "HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader" and make sure X-VzW-MDN is set correctly with your phone number.

Sprint Arcsoft MMS 5.0.69.44-Revised 2-23-09

Ok, Here is Arcsoft MMS 5.0.69.44 for sprint.
I added the qvga DLL and emotions, and added the sprint settings.
Let me know how it works. I installed it on the Dream rom that didn't have any MMS on it. So I cant help you on removing sprint picture mail.
Just did a Hard reset, installed and sent a MMS, and Successfully received it. Haven't actually tested it on a QVGA phone yet. Should work on both vga and qvga phones now.
Update! Ok, I changed the settings... I Never meant to put in the 512k limit of receiving. So the default is 512k sending limit, and 10 meg d/l limit. I also removed the limit for editing the server setting. Now you can edit the sprint server, and change the limit there in the app without having to do any regedits. I made the default choices 512k (For compatibility with other carriers), 1 meg, and 5 meg.
Update 2. oops. Forgot to remove stuff from the xml. It is fixed now.
Download Here!
It installed great on my kaiser/tilt. The only issue is that I cannot send text messages or picture mail. I believe this is because the server is set to Sprint but I cannot change it... Anyone have any ideas? Is there a newer version for ATT? Thanks again fo rhte cab though..

Yes, it is setup for sprint. If you want to edit the server settings, then you will need to open your registry editor, and set "EnableServerEdit"=1 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI
Thanks for the awesome reply. I will give that a shot.
For AT&T use:
Server Name : AT&TMMS
Gateway: wireless.cingular.com
Server Address:http://mmsc.cingular.com
Use Medianet
I was able to obtain this info is anyone else needs it to use this cab with AT&T. Thanks again for the help.
Good find works great with my Touch Pro
So this should work on a Sprint Touch (Vogue)?
I might try it on my old phone and let you know.
Just as I suspected....
Does NOT work with Sprint Mogul... Damn!!!!!
This isn't working on my Sprint Touch Pro at all... Is there something I'm missing or overlooking?
I've even installed it after a hard reset with no PictureMail installed.
This is a real bummer... The ONLY feature that I like that i really want (that the working 3.x version doesn't have) is the auto fill as you type field for the TO: field...
Later,
Matt

Ok, Here is Arcsoft MMS 5.0.69.44 for sprint.
I added the qvga DLL and emotions, and added the sprint settings.
Let me know how it works. I installed it on the Dream rom that didn't have any MMS on it. So I cant help you on removing sprint picture mail.
Just did a Hard reset, installed and sent a MMS, and Successfully recieved it. Haven't actually tested it on a QVGA phone yet. Should work on both vga and qvga phones now.

I'm adding my thanks to the OP. It's working perfectly on my Touch Pro (running Juggalo_X's 0.08B ROM). Thanks again!!!
Anyone get this working on a Mogul?
Will this work on a stock Sprint rom on a Touch Pro? Everyone here that has it working properly seems to be running a custom rom.

Good point Fitts; I wonder what the change is that is allowing it to work properly?

As long as Sprint Picture mail is not installed you should be all et
This appears to receive the message, but I can't view it at all.
All I get is the "Pics/Video Detail" screen, showing who sent the message, the subject, it's size, sent time, etc.
Anyone know how to delete the picture mail app on the touch pro?

I've been getting this also running a stock rooted HTC One M8. From what I have read it looks like at&t has a limit on mms files sizes and the message is exceeding it. There doesn't seem to be a fix around just a lot of people *****ing about it.
Please post if you find out anything new.
Nothing can be done about that, att's limit is 1mb...if attached images etc are bigger than that it aint happening thats server side on their end...no software will change whats able to be sent...unfortunately...it used to be 600kb...lol
