Htc Mogul - Sprint Unlocking to another Service provider - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Hello guys i have a bro who is in usa and he was using this HTC Sprint mogul 6800 .
And when my bro came to india that is two days ago i noticed his cell phone and he said if i can make it work here that is by unlocking it to some indian network that is Reliance or Tata etc then i can have the phone.
So kindly Help me out here i love that handset and cant let it go....
You guys have always been help so i hope i get helped this time too when i need it the most.

I think by nature CDMA networks do not necessarily have "locked" phones, but more so phones with ESN's that are locked to a specific carrier. I know nothing about carriers in India whatsoever, but you could always call your provider and ask.
I know I read here how one person soldered an RUIM slot on the back of a mogul and may have had it working in India. Let me try to look for one sec...
Read up on this, it has more links at the bottom: Convert 6800 to RUIM
There seems to be a more dedicated forum to your region HERE also. They may have more information than we do here.

Hello ... and thanks for the reply i have already been there and i have unlocked it already and i was not sure if its completly unlocked or not so wanted to have a look at Xda's tutorial as i trust this forum more then anyother . thanks anyways

A Problem That Has Foxed Even HTC!!!

Greetings Friends,
I have been using a HTC P3400( Old Gene) for last 2 years. As a member here of the Gene forum( although an infrequent one) i have been flashing the various ROMs made my many talented people here. Please bear with me if this post seems inordinately long but i want to share complete details of the problem i am facing.
My peculiar problem started when i flashed my Gene with Krazy_about_technology's ROM SumitsProUsers6.5_v2_OldGene.exe. After a couple of days of using it, my Gene would perenially be searching the network to connect to it, without any success. After numerous resets, hard resets, running ghost images etc and unable to resolve the problem, i thought this was an issue with my Vodafone SIM. I got it replaced and the problem still persisted. Post that i flashed the ROM with numerous other ROMs( Mostly Krazys, I find them very useful- Thanks Krazy for sharing your beautiful works), but the problem would just not resolve. The phone would always show searching a network to connect. I could not use SMS, EDGE or any other feature of my service provider.
The issue threw up another interesting find when i was experimenting with various other GSM SIMs. I used an Airtel SIM and the Gene would work good. Then i tried with a BPL Mobile SIM and it works just as good. But the minute i insert a Vodafone SIM, mine or others, it would indicate searching a network, I would not be able to make or receive calls or sms or access any other feature.
I took the handset to a Vodafone center and even they were flummoxed. They couldnt find a solution. They used my SIM card on different handsets and it works.
They thought my handset was somehow only disabling/ blocking only a Vodafone network. They advised me to get in touch with HTC helpline.
I called them and after lenghty discussions, they confirmed this was the first time they had come across such an issue. They asked me to visit their nearest service center. I did . The result was the same. Even the service centre was flummoxed and asked me to see what would happen if i downgraded to WM5.
I did just that with a HTC stock WM5 ROM provided by Vukile in the forums. and gradually upgraded to Krazy's WM 6.1 v 2.5
The problem still persists. I have been asked to visit the service centre once they run some tests or do some research on the problem themselves on a WM 6.1 ROM
In the meantime, I am currently using my Gene with an Airtel SIM and its working perfectly. It just wont accept a Vodafone network. I am using my Vodafone SIM in a Nokia handset.
Could it be an issue with the Radio ROM version? If so, why did it work with other ROMs and still works with Airtel and BPL mobile SIMs?
Is it really true that somehow, my Gene is only blocking Vodafone networks???
Needless to add, i am not a newbie to the world of Flashing and have learnt my way through friends in the forum like Munrus, Ababrekar, Vukile, NJackal, Chayn( He used to make some great ROMs) etc for the past 2 years.
This problem has completely perplexed me and all the techies i know.
I am posting this here in the hope that some brainy chaps might just be able to figure this out.
Thanks for reading the post and for any remedy you can send my way.
Rest assured, i will be keeping this post updated if the service centre is able to come up with a solution.
Cheers!
Ramon

Radio 2.71.90
Yes, there definately seems to be some issue with your Radio ROM. Its an older version anyways, mine is 2.79.90. Radio upgrading is simple, but finding the radio or dumping it from a phone is something i dont know.
I think the problem your phone is having is with one type of freqeuncy. In India, 3 frequencies are available : GSM900, GSM1800, and GSM1900. Most network use GSM1800 in most places and GSM900 in some places While Vodafone uses GSM900 in most places. I guess that is the reason why Vodafone sims are giving problem to you.
Two more things you can try are : If possible, using it in national roaming mode in some other state and Using some other number Vodafone sim. Try if it works. The site given below will give you an idea of what networks use what frequencies where :

Otherwise best is to let service center guys figure it out. They may replace the radio module completly or upgrade the Radio ROM, or Who knows, the whole phone itself
try below links..

Yes, You seem to be right. Vodafone at GSM900 in Mumbai seems the odd man out. Maybe the Radio ROM is not working for GSM 900 and hence affecting only Vodafone connections.
Still does it explain why the same Radio ROM worked for all this while over so many flashes and failed to connect to one particular frequency suddenly?
I have been trying to get a Radio ROM dump to 2.79.90 to upgrade. No luck yet.
My phone is out of warranty a long time ago. So no chance of getting the whole phone replaced without burning my pockets!!!
Thanks for your inputs Krazy!
Cheers!

Hi I dont think this is a problem with vodafone in mumbai...
Because I am also in mumbai using the vodafone service and also having the same (02.71.90) version of radio.
I think you have made any mistakes while upgrading...
Still check with upgrading Radio ... Let us know the status
Bhushan,
Yes , you may be right. Maybe i did make some mistake while flashing 6.5
None of the links have any Radio ROMs and i havent specifically done any Radio ROM upgrade myself. The only time the Radio ROM changed was when i ran Olipro HSPL.
Has anyone tried out railwayplatform's method?
How many of us are actually using the 2.71.90 version? If I am the only one facing this problem, then most probably the cause would be a bad flashing or M/B issue.
Cheers!
loop mobile a.k.a bpl mobile work on 900mhz so i dont think you have problem with 900mhz network as per my infomation your mobile is more then two year old so i think it time to buy new ..
Ofcourse its old!
But Loop and Airtel work flawlessly still. Its just Vodafone that doesnt. So no real reason why to invest in a new handset now.
Besides Its slowdown time guys!!!
There is a 99% chance there is nothing wrong with the handset.
So i am very keen to see if this problem can be resolved.
Cheers!
Hmm.. this is strange, really strange. Have you tried some other Vodafone sim too? Maybe its just with that particular number? I am just guessing now.
Krazy,
Yes the problem persists for all Vodafone SIMs( mine as well as others).
Have tried it with Vodafone SIMs of myself, my wife's, 3 colleagues at work and 3 at the Vodafone care shop.
This problem has been exihibited for all Vodafone SIMs.
Got a thought from a buddy - All this while i have been flashing with my SIM inside the phone. Does this have anything to do with the problem?
Cheers!
I dont think so...

i dont think so flashing with the SIM inside the phone is causing the problem...and may be you need to visit a HTC service center and ask them to flash an official wm 5 with an updated radio rom and see if it works...just a suggestion...Hope this helps....Good luck mate...
Just a thought
I have flashed my poor Gene and now departed Vox how many times I don't know, and everytime the SIM was inside. So that wont be issue.
Just a thought, are you using Vodafone Prepaid? Because Vodafone, atleast in Kolkata still provide 16 K SIMs and earlier when I had a Vodafone Prepaid number, my Vox would reboot between calls or while browsing the contacts / msgs. This was told to me by the tech support at a nearby Vodafone store that it IS a issue with all sophisticated sets (actually its sort of forcing you to go for a post paid where you will get a 32 K SIM ). So, if you are a prepaid customer, then can you try some one's post paid vodafone SIM and let us know?
Sorry! Duplicate post.
Yes 16 K SIM might be an issue because 16 K Airtel SIM is also creating problems like call drops, people call u but u dont get a notification etc.
I read the same on HTC touch orkut forum.
same prob here
dear friends,
i have also faced same problem, but a little differently.
I am a idea, punjab (formerly SPICE) customer. while roaming in ghaziabad / kale khan/ okhla I found that my phone lost network. it kept on searching on and on.i tried hard and soft resets also. if i did it manually, it wont register, and by any means it gets registered to a network, then 100% sure, call wont make. two sims showed this problem, one- idea and vodafone. but the problem was found while roaming only. i didnt report this in forum as i didnt take it seriously. but seeing this post, i decided to report it to forum so that it can be rectified. its just a feedback, not a complaint.
To Addicted2xda,
I am using a Vodafone Postpaid SIM. All the Vodafone SIMs i tried were post paid SIMs. At Vodafone Care, the guys there tried with a dummy SIM. The problem persisted for all SIMs.
This is really giving me sleepless nights.
Any way i can delete all the data on the phone including all ROMs, like bring it to a pristine state and then start with HSPL and flash a new ROM?? Maybe this may correct the problem - Just shooting in the dark.
To Mehra, Thanks for your feedback.
To HTCP3400,
I had a HTC STock WM5 ROM provided by Vukile. I tried it also. But the stock ROM didnt change the Radio ROM version and the problem existed with it too.
Cheers!
Guys, do you feel this could happen because of the SPL change? I dont know whether SPL is responsibile for sim activities or not, bu I will definately search for it. Apart from that, there is nothing we have changed in the phone. I dont know, but these kind of things never happened with me. Ya one or two times, my phone lost network at some places and keep searching for it even though other phones were working fine, but on soft reset or just turning the radio on and off from comm manager worked everytime. Anyways, lets see waht can be done.
Got this from htc touch orkut community

Krishnaa
the problem has nothing to do with ur OS. Its linked with the Radio ROM.
Try diff versions of the Radio ROM which would go well with your network. For instance 3.21.90 rom solves the call drop issue on chennai airtel prepaid to an extent. So you ave gotta experiment with diff versions of radio rom n freeze on the one which would be better for ur network.
Hey vaibhav, can you post the Radio Roms that you have got. That would be good in case when one of us changes his network and gets this problem. Coz I searched for them but couldn''t find em anywhere.

Raphael in Thailand

Hey guys! today I'va aquestion about my coming Raphael 800. I'm now in Thailand using cell phone under a carrier called "Hutch". It's CDMA 800 network(CDMA2000 1X). I saw some guys in Thailand could activate Vogue, Diamond and even Verizon Touch Pro. I don't know how could they do that! But I think this is such a very cool thing! Anyone can advice me to do it by myself? I want to try my best first before go to them.
Thank you guys!
Please also advise me what kind of H/W and S/W neccesary for this operation
Thank you so much
Convert USA phones NON RUIM to Thailand CDMA
U first need to buy an Pay As You Hutch/Cat CDMA Card, and a Sim Card Reader, Download the CDMA RUIM Sim reader software found in this forum, and get the esn imsi from them.
You need to change the imsi, esn on your mobile. So far you will be able to make receive calls, send / receive sms. Some phones like touch pro, if you are using Sprint rom, change the rom to Verizon, because you won't be able to receive sms.
Next go to Hutch Shop, ask to speak to the Tech Guy, all hutch shops have em, ask him for all the data usenames and passwords etc, you be able to get data up.
Included is the PRL for hutch thailand.

[Q] HTC Evo View Unlock and Rooting - Help Required

Hi folks,
I'm just a noob and this is my first post and I'm really sorry if we already have any thread that can help (as I did try searching around).
I bought a HTC View 4G from US and Now I'm in India. Was just wondering if there is any Unlock Possible so that I can use 3G(CDMA/GSM) Networks here in India.
Another question, what does rooting means when it comes to View 4G ?
Thanks for all the reading.
Regards,
Rituraj

Is it possible guys, any help will do good.
The View is CDMA/WiMAX, so there's no way to "unlock" it in the traditional GSM sense for use on multiple networks. You'll either have to see if the CDMA carrier you wish to use will add it's IMEI number to their network and activate it (which many will not do), or you'll have to flash it for use on a different carrier. For either of those, you'll have to find someone locally who can help you out, because it will require access to the carrier's system (to add the IMEI number, and that will need to be done by the carrier) or certain carrier files (to flash it). There is no GSM radio in the View, so use on GSM networks is out of the question.
Rooting on the View means the same as rooting on any other Android device. You gain root access to the system. This allows for the modification and installation of various files/ROMs. Check out the View development section for more information on what is required and what you can do.
You can try contacting Reliance CDMA
hi Rituraj,
I am facing same problem with this device. I also bought it from USA. After doing some research, i think our cdma carriers (Reliance, BSNL, TATA) can program it to use this device in India. Moreover i also contacted Reliance & TATA, Reliance agreed to give a try on my risk whereas TATA denied for the same. So now i m planning to contact BSNL as well. Mean while if you can get any other solution do let me know.

HI people...plz plz help!!

Hi people,
Is there an Atrix 4G global version also?
I just ordered an Atrix 4G phone in India through a local, popular newspaper ad by the newspaper's online shop. But now I have several concerns about the same. One of them being, is there even a global version of the Atrix 4G? What if this phone is a rejected device, GSM SIM locked?? Have many other questions, but they are software related...but this is my primary concern..
Can anyone help...
Thanx!
I only think that GSM SIM lock you always can unlock for money through internet. there are many sites with this service.
but if you want to change roms to custom you cann't buy phone from Spanish or Chinese, because you will receive a brick.

THANX!
Stop with the multiple threads on the same topic. I just read your other thread right before this.

Carrier unlocking S9+'s gsm vs cdma.

This situation was dealing with the SM-G965U U.S. S9+
I recently had itekimei unlock two S9+'s. They were from xfinity mobile, which is CDMA.
The phone's work, but only on CDMA band carriers i.e. verizon, sprint. With GSM, only messaging and data work. Data barely.
Is it commonplace to be stuck with either GSM or CDMA frequency carriers after having professionally unlocked the network? Like if you had a locked T-mobile phone and had it unlocked, you'd be stuck on GSM correct?
Maybe this is a given and I am ignorant.
I didn't exactly check whether xfinity ran on cdma or gsm before I purchased them, so that was my fault, not itekimei. He's a great guy. Highly recommend him, as long as you have your radio systems correct.
Edit: I think I found the answer, and that is the U.S. S9+ is not cross compatible with GSM and CDMA. Please correct me if I am wrong and tell me how to make it happen if you know. Thank you.

The phone does work with GSM providers for calling, messaging and data. Check your preferred network type and select a different one. I replied to another thread you posted in with the setting I used that works.
Before unlocking my phone I had done an extensive amount of reading and research. If I was gonna pay for the unlock I wanted to make sure it would work for GSM networks. From what I can tell the G96U phone you have would be virtually identical to the one I have, with the exception of the carrier installed firmware. This is what would define the phone as Sprint or Xfinity. So if my phone works for calling, data and messaging on AT&T which is a GSM network then yours will too.
If needs be flash the U1 firmware to the phone as this would be the one that is on the unlocked S9 you can buy from Samsung. As a firmware for unlocked phones i believe it would be the most generically compatible with the providers for this scenario... well it's one of the reasons why I flashed it on my phone. The other is since I no longer use Sprint I dont need the Sprint bloatware.
There are tutorials on how to flash the G965U1 firmware to a g965U phone on this forum.
Also try keeping your inquiry to one thread instead of making multiple ones. Keeps all insights, discussions and etc in one spot and not multiple places.

Sorry, I had actually came back here to delete this thread after I thought about it before I read what you wrote. I was just at work my apologies. And thank you for correcting me. I will check out how to flash the U1.
