Hi.
I don't want to seem stupid or ignorant, but I'm struggling to choose a SE ROM to upgrade with.
I have a UK O2 XDAII, with the latest available upgrade provided by o2. However, I am led to believe that SE is much better, is this the case? And if so, is it worth upgrading?
My main dilemma is this: there are many conflicting opinions on whose ROM is the best and so on. I really need one I can upgrade to and have the o2 UK settings in place (for gprs, sms etc), and anything after that is a bonus. Oh, the o2 active nonsense etc. is just not needed (but I will happily remove these myself if I need to).
Can someone recommend a ROM and extended ROM to upgrade with? I'm sure there are legions of XDAII users in the UK who would also appreciate this advice.
Thanks in advance,
Stegz
Ok, well Final Zero's ROM seems to be popular, would anyone recommend that?
I am bumping this because i also need the same advice for UK, its all a bit confusing for a newbie
and me 8)
I'm in the uk and i have installed sin's rom (v2.0) and it has been running fine for a month.
When asked choose not listed for your local settings - this provides two problems however - 1) you have to set up wap or gprs manually (not difficult and instructions can be found on o2,orange, etc websites)
2) for me o2 Active was not installed. but i consider that a blessing.
my phone runs perfectly

okay. it's flashed, i havent noticed anything different tho!
screenalignment issues are still present and there is only one new cab : suspend_resume_null.cab not sure what it does as i really see no difference.
i wonder why they never release any changelogs..

The screen alignment issue is a hardware fault, about this problem this is the email that I have received by htc europe:
Good Afternoon,
There are now procedures in place for fixing the Screen alignment issue with the TyTN devices. This is a hardware issue that we have identified and we are offering a replacement to owners of affected devices with two conditions.
1: The device must be returned with all accompanying accessories.
Everything that was in the box when you bought the device must be in the box when you return it.
2: The device must be a Genuine HTC Badged device. This means that the device cannot be a Vodafone v1605, an O2 XDA Trion, a T-Mobile Vario II or any other device based on the TyTN, but that is not actually a TyTN. For these devices, you must contact the Network/Reseller for further advice on this issue.
If you meet these two provisions, you may contact your nearest repair centre to arrange the swap. Please place everything back into the original box and arrange to have the device picked up. It will then be tested to confirm that it has the problem, and then it will be swapped for a replacement unit.
If you are unable to return everything, you will be eligible for a repair under the warranty. For this also, you can contact your nearest repair centre to arrange this.
I must note that this email is a standard answer. Other people have received the same email.

No at moment o2 uk doesnt sell the trion.
You can find it only in o2 german
It is possible create a MUI for this Rom?
OK i am again disappointed from this O2 sh*t realease.
The GPRS/UMTS Radio disconnects itself and i have to hard resed my device again. Now i know why i moved away from the O2 ROM. I flashed my device back to the updated O2 ROM in hope the issue was only a temporary problem and will be fixed in the new update but its not.
I am considering to replace my device. With this problem i cant live for much longer time.
Overall i am a lot more unsatisfied with the TRION. The Wizard from Cingular didnt had those major issues and performed very well. It doesnt matter if the TRION has a 400 Mhz CPU inside compared to the Wizard it works more worse and I am going back to use my Wizard until O2 has a stable release of the TRION ROM.
EXT_ROM keypad .cab
Hey,
does anybody knows which .cab from O2 Ext_ROM is for keypad (phone dialer) layout and colors ?
Tnx

Hello,
I was interested in the HTC W100 remote control, does anyone know if it works on an Hermes?
Thanks.
I have bought one, many sites report it should work with the HTC Tytn. Unfortunately I couldn't get it working. I already tried WM5, WM6 and both updated with the HTC audio cab.
If anyone has an idea on how to fix this, please let me know!
I've emailed HTC about this and asked them if it worked with the HTC tytn, this is there answer.
Dear sir,
Thank you for contacting HTC Europe.
Regarding your query, if you check th HTC shop you will notice that the W100 remote is not listed under the accessories for the HTC TyTN. However, if you update the ROM on your device from WM5 to WM6 you should be able to use this device with the TyTN.
Unfortunately, we are not able to supply you with this update as your device is not an HTC TyTN but the T-Mobile variant of the device, the MDA Vario II. As such you would need to get in touch with T-Mobile in regards to getting a ROM update to WM6. This is naturally dependant on wether T-Mobile offer this update.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html
Best regards,
Daniel Carregosa

The funny thing is that my mobile runs WM6 and it still doesn't work.
The controller does work on a HTC Tytn 2, I've tested this myself yesterday.

If HTC said this then I guess there are no hardware problem, just software, which perhaps can be fixed with the rigt information from a Kaiser.
I'm interested in this to if someone can get it to work with Tytn.
i was thinking this when i first noticed the remote online..
lets make this happen!
I have bought the same headset and it dosen't work. What am I doing wrong?
same case here. I bought myself a E100 today & my hermes won't recognize it!! The included driver won't install, it said the existing driver on my phone is the latest one.
Any help?? Thanks in advance!!
I have a HTC 6800 AKA Titan AKA Mogul AKA P4000
and ive updated my rom with a 2.16 custom version(the last untill now) that has HTC audio manager as a default player so when press play on the w100 it automaticaly starts HTC AUDIO MANAGER and not WMP but there is still that mute button that does nothing ... anyway what i wanted to say is that i'm sure that there is a solution for everyone .. we just have to wait till someone like colonel00 or anyone else buy that controller and hopefully find this value (.reg file)
For more info or testing just PM me
The same here. Just purchased E100 wired remote control and it is not recognized by HTC TyTN at all. I am on WM6.
I have installed the driver "Y-cable_HERM1_070316.CAB" first from CD and then from HTC website. It had no effect.
Did anyone find a solution?
W100 Headset
I have also purchased this headset, and can not get it to work with the Tytn. I'm usings Schaps ROM (great ROM BTW), I can not find the HTC Audio Driver update to see if this solves the problem, so if anyone has the cab for this I would appreciate you posting it, I can't find it on HTC's site.
I have also tried to use just a USB to 3.5mm adapter and can't get that to work either.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Craig
edit: I have managed to track down the HTC-Audio Driver update files. They would not install on my phone automatically so I had to extract them and try to manually install the driver. I tried installing many different drivers from the package, but most would either have no effect/ stop audio working all together/ or stop the phone from booting. I found one in the bundle that installed and at least gave me audio through the headphones and made the microphone work but still no remote buttons. That driver is Remote_controller_Y-cable_T1_070316.CAB, so at least now I am able to use a standard pair of headphones with the Tytn, would still love to get the remote working with it though.
I'm a newbie here and considering the purchase of a used x7500 with WM6.0. The current owner has a problem with the bluetooth not functioning. I'm wondering if this might be a common problem with 6.0 and if the new cooked 6.1 (4 – if that’s the latest rom version) might solve such an issue? Also, would you mind directing me to the page that has the most popular /cleanest 6.1 rom? I’m tearing my hair out trying to figure out which is the safest one to use.
Kind regards,
Peter (Bamse1)
no need for 2 threads mate
Okay, but I didn't intend this as the same thread as the other one (see "Cleanest/Most Popular 6.1 rom as of 2DEC08??"). I just carelessly pasted some of the same intro text, but there is a difference. My focus on this thread concerns the BT issue. I will take the liberty to paste a private message reply quote from Brau0303 which helps answer the original question:
... As for the BT issue this could be a junk rom, a bad radio version (software & fixable) a hardware failure or something the current owner simply screwed up because they did not follow instructions and may or may not be fixable.

Bottom-line: Apparently no clear connection between faulty BT and a bad ROM. In the meantime, the HTC service vendor Anovo Nordic AB in Sweden has agreed to fix it free of charge as long as there is not visible damage (there is not) and it is under the 2-year HTC warranty (which it is). It is not clear what their views are on cooked ROMs, but probably not favorable. Fortunately it has not been flashed and has the stock HTC WM 6.0 - which is good news in this case.
Let me add a reply by Lakeman too:
I personally have never had a bluetooth problem and it is not a common problem... I would hope flashing another rom would fix your bluetooth problem, but some of these phones are getting old (18 mths) so there is the possibility of a hardware issue sometimes it would pay to reflash the radio as they can get corrupted as well just make sure you kmow which spl you have and flash the right one

I had a lot of bluetooth problems with the stock WM 6 rom. Most of these problems are gone with Michy v5 rom. But my brand new S740 is better still.
Thanks ralf_pp, but this thread is under the Athena X7500 advantage not the Rose S740, unless you're suggesting that Michy v5 also works with the X7500?? Do you mind clarifying?

I think he was talking about Michy's 5.0 or 5.1 ROM, which are two ROMs for Athena. And then he was probably bragging that his Rose has better bluetooth quality than Athena.
not sure what is on 7500 or 6.0 rom
but on factory original 7510 with 6.1 bluetooth works perfectl for stereo music and phone calls automatically.
it auto plays back, and cuts off as necessary to handle both.
remote control keys (AD2P) works perfectly.
voice dialing command key
phone feature key (press hold to dial last number)
press to mute, etc, etc....
Okay so I recently purchased an i-mate Spartphone I have a couple of questions that I couldn't find thru the search feature.
1st I was wondering is the phone I have a Qtek 8500 (I think thats what I read on here) it only says imate on the outside and smartflip below the inner screen and say's imate on loading.
2nd when I use the camera all I see is static no picture... is there a way to fix this or should I load a different rom? I am thinking of running the rose or neo rom anyways (I have to get on my home computer and do the unlocks first I believe)
3rd I am also new to Winmo phones so I was wondering if there was any nice apps that anyone could point me towards.
Thanks in advance

The phone is made by HTC but is also sold as other names such as i-mate smartflip.
I have an i-mate smart flip that I purchased on e-bay and was able to use the camera just fine with the original WM5 ROM. Though I must admit that after upgrading the ROM to Erofoch's Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional for HTC StarTrek the camera works even better with the camera night mode option.
This version of WM6 works amazing on this phone, it also has BatteryStatus set up with safe and quick overclocking.
It took me a while to figure out all the steps, there is so much great information in this forum that it can be a bit overwhelming. I was directed to this wiki web page which outlines the ROM upgrade process step by step. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...Trk_ROM_Update
For the Mobile 6.1 Pro ROM that I installed I only had to stop at step 2 because this ROM does the rest.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Rudydb.
Okay I installed the Rose Rom by pampooh??(probably mispelled hope does not offend) anyways still just static on the camera not a huge deal for me I have a different camera phone for that purpose just was hoping it would fix it may be that I just got one with a bad camera but oh well
Yep, sounds like a bad camera. In general, when there is a driver issue, you will either get an error message when you launch the camera, or else a blank screen, but definitely not static.
iMate, Startrek, 3185, and a few other names are all the same phone. HTC sells the phone to Cellular carriers, and they can name it whatever they want. With the phone nerds here at XDA, the easiest way to refer to it is as "StarTrek", since this was the HTC code name for the phone. All the phones are basically alike, except for the Cingular/AT&T 3185, which has a larger battery, and twice the ROM (64MB instead of 32MB). You can buy the extended battery and associated back plate on eBay if you want it. All the versions of the phone run the same software and operating systems.
Software:
Tons of good software out there. What you will like is a matter of opinion. I can't live without:
1. Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 - Gives you text to speech, and awesome voice recognition.
2. Coreplayer - An actual working media player for the phone (not crappy like WMP).
3. Replacement calandar/tasks program - Tons out there, but I don't like the MS one.
4. Games - Again, find ones you like.
