I just received a warranty replacement VZW XV6800 and would like to upgrade the radio to 3.42.50 after having used 3.35 for a while. However, I have only seen instructions for the micro SD method. Is it possible to do via USB? Any guidance is greatly appreciated!
Try this: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome
Scroll down to part "III. Radio Upgrade"
You have to downgrade to 1.20 , flash the radio , then upgrade back to 2.40. Only way.
You don't need to downgrade to 1.20 before upgrading the radio, just follow step 3 B of the link posted by A7X and you'll be fine

THANK YOU!
This is exactly what I was looking for, since the wiki does not include instructions for 3.42.50 via USB. Your tutorial was perfect and I am up and running!

Hi all I am new to this Hermes flashing I have read adn read on this forum lots of great stuff some of which I understand some of which goes totally over my head.
I got a T Mobile Vario 2 and took the part jump to upgrade to SPL -2.10.Olipro not sure why but I did it. Nothing wrong with the new bootloader but will it be over written when and if T-Mobile issue a SHIP ROM for the VArio 2 ??
Also I took the step of upgrading the RADIO to 1.41 again seems to work fine will this also be over written when and if they issue a SHIP ROM. ??
The reason I ask is I would like to know if its possible to downgrade to Radio 1.05.05.00 and IPL -1.01 and SPL-1.04 at some point if need be is this possible ?? Some say it is and some say it is not.
I also have been tempted by the ROMS for WM6 but cannnot make up my mind which to choose for the VARIO 2 to run better on. I dont use it for anything major just calling and wireless email via 3g or GPRS. Any users of the Vario 2 in the UK found a WM6 ROm that works great on the Vario 2 ?

It will be kept on device. It will only be over written if you flash the rom using SSPL.

Yes, unless you extract the radio from the NBH file prior to flashing.

No, now that you've flashed 1.41 your htc_boot is 0108. If you flash radio 1.05 you'll get a brick, as it has htc_boot 0106.
and IPL -1.01 and SPL-1.04

Yes, it is possible, using SSPL.
Well before posting I have been reading the Wiki and looking on this site. Just wanna make sure that I have it correct.
Im planning to use a Cingular 8525 on TMobile.
So first I would have to use the v3a unlocker.
Then it would be wise to make sure I have the latest and greatest radio flash for reception.
Then I can pretty much throw any ROM from any provider or source on the device that I want.
If I am missing something please let me know, Im still reading and learning.
Thanks.
Welcome aboard Vasichko. Yeah, that's about the gist of it.
I'd recommend the 1.48 radio. But the quality can depend on your geographic location, so you may need to try a few different radio builds to see what works best for you.
But, all in all, you have the basics down. Just follow all the instructions with each step you take, and you'll do great.

Before you flash anything I'd recommend to flash Hard-SPL:

Here are some excellent instructions:

Im in Dallas, TX, usually dont have any issues with reception with TMobile.
Now if I do the HardSPL, should I do that first before attempting to unlock the SIM and CID?
Or, will the HardSPL unlock the SIM and CID for me?

No,first step is to unlock it. You had that right. Use pof's v3a unlocker for that.
Second, HardSPL
Third, flash whatever ROM suits your mood for the day.
Thanks for the help guys. Did alot of reading and didnt know if I was going to have to wear a flame retardant suit when posting this.

So is the HardSPL just a modified bootloader? Just from reading it this is what I am assuming.

Essentially, yes, it is a modifiied bootloader. There are several versions (I have 3 myself that I keep on DVD). Like was said earlier, use the MR VANX guide.
I had the 8525 and switched to both the Softbank x01HT version and the Nokia N95.
Any benefit of having the Softbank over the 8525 aside from the camera on the front?

Softbank is very very very durable (the 8525 I used to have was broken after 1 drop from hip level); this phone has dropped 4 times on pavement and other than a few scratches, works and looks great.

There were and still are issues with 3.35 Radio and the Olipro-2.4 SPL, user were receiving 328 errors, forcing user to a earlier version SPL. That process was more problematic than flash the entire sprint ROM.
Please excuse what might be an obvious question, I'm still knee-deep in n00b...
I currently have a Verizon 6800 running dcd 1.6.8 (1.40 radio) and would like to upgrade to 3.1.2. Is the new build stable? Would you recommend this upgrade?
Unfortunately all the guides I have found talk about upgrading from a stock rom. Are there any references for upgrading from a (really) older version? Can any offer any advice on how to upgrade my phone?
Thanks.
yea its great so far......
All i would do is relock your phone flash back to stock then flash with the new sprint rom but do not let custiomations run then put the 2.40 bootloader on cook up a new rom flash and your done. in the short ver. hope this helps you
Why tell him to go back to stock when he doesn't need to? He needs to unlock with 2.40-Olipro, then he can run either the Sprint/HTC update or the Alltel/HTC update, just making sure not to let either customizations run. Then flash dcd's rom on top and you'll be good to go. It's optional, but I recommend that after you flash dcd's rom, flash the 3.39.10 radio as it's a lot better than 3.35.04 (the radio you'll get if you run the Sprint update) or 3.37.20 (the radio you'll get if you run the Alltel update).
no no no, do not go back to stock.....ever. unless you are sending it back, then yea, you should go back to stock, but there are multiple issues that you could run into with going back to stock.
How come there isn't a guide for going from cooked rom to cooked rom? If there is one can someone point me in its direction or provide the steps here?
There are guides... For each of the ROMs it's rather explicit in the Wiki and each of the developer's threads upon what bootloader you need. That's all there is to it.
Thanks gcincotta.... Quick question tho. Should I run the titan relocker before i try to unlock with 2.40?
Also, I have copied down my ESN, MSID, but cannot find my MSN(???) referenced by the wiki. Is there any other information I will need to reauthenticate my phone after the upgrade?
Thanks for the quick help and all the responses...

No, there is no reason to relock the phone. The only reason you relock the phone is if you need to flash and boot stock roms and radios signed by your carrier.
I believe you mean your MDN (Mobile Directory Number) and it is located in EPST under NAM Settings. You should be good.
thx gcincotta... upgrade worked like a charm... much faster and gps is so nice.... great job to all.
wow i feel like a noob but havent flashed from the start in a while. I unlocked and upgraded to an older 6.1 ROM. Now i want to flash the upgraded radio and a newer ROM. Dont i have to re-lock before flashing the official sprint ROM for the radio then flash a kitchenROM?

I'm not sure, but when I did it, I did NOT relock the phone. I did have to unlock using 2.40Olipro, but i did not have to use the titan relocker.
HTH.

I think I have to second that. I am pretty sure that whenever I have flashed a "stock" signed rom I have not ever had to relock the phone. I only would think about relocking if I was sending it back to verizon for whatever reason.
i tried to upgrade my ROM but failed in the process. i dont now what to do and i am scared. my phone is stuck at the plipro 1.20 bootloader screen and i dont know what do to. please help. [email protected]
bump. just trying for anyone to help me.
don't sweat it man. this happens to most people when they first flash. i know it happened to me. as long as you are still getting to the tri-color screen you should be ok. What I would try first is to just flash the stock rom to it. Here are the steps to follow:

Let us know how it goes.
i now i went to this but sicnce i have the bootloader 1.2 on it i need the dcd 1.7 ROM but the download does not work

Why do you want 1.7?
Update to 2.40 and flash radio 3.42.30 and ROM DCD 3.2.5.

How are you supposed to update to 2.40 if yer stuck in bootloader??
You gotta flash a stock non-gps rom, then upgrade to olipro 2.40, then flash to a gps rom.
