Most should have an option somewhere to change the height. I'm pretty sure both SPB Diary and SPB Pocket Plus that I use have height options. I don't think there's a registry setting for other plug ins that don't have the option though.

There are a couple tools outs that remove the bottom bar that displays what the buttons do. Removing that gains you a little extra space.

Magic button 2.1

I read from Magic Button's official website that they have a new version 2.1 that resolves the task bar color problem. However, when I followed the link to download.com, it is 2.0 that get downloaded, and this version mess up my task bar.
Google on "Magic Button 2.1" does not yield any result.
Has anyone got version 2.1 or is able to post a link?
Thanks.
Edit: Found the link. It is on the official webpage itself! The download.com's copy has not been updated.
Hmm... it's a shame that even version 2.1 mess up the color. My black task bar color is no longer black. It's today icon is also in the wrong position, covering half of my network signal (in 128dpi. Did'nt try the other dpi yet)
What a pity. It has been my favourite task manager for a long long time, and was given up when I moved to WM6. I was so excited when I saw the version update history, and thinking that 2.1 would work without problem in WM6. Looks like we have to wait for version 2.2 and see if it works.
Fortunately, pBar is working. It does not show the running tasks on the taskbar, but that's the next best thing now.
Thanks for the tip. The taskbar colors are much improved, but not perfect.
Here's a link to my previous post on fixing the placement of the Today icon when using 128dpi:

Thanks for the solution regarding Today icon position. Came across your post before, but didnt remember it untill you mentioned it. Thanks
But the color is outright the wrong color at the moment. It is the default blue whereas my task bar is black. Is there a way to fix the color? I really like the glossy black task bar, and unless MB can blend in, I would stick with pBar.
Sorry, I'm using the default blue theme, so MB looked pretty good to me.
Do a search on using UITweaker to fix the MB colors... not sure how it will work with the new version though.
With further investigationk, I found out that magic button is not actually showing only in blue color. It is able to use any WM6 color. The reason it does not blend in to my black task bar was because my black taskbar was "painted over" by Tweak2k2 rather than part of a black theme.
I tried it with other colors besides blue, and found out that it can blend in with any color.
Now the logical thing for me to do is to come up with a glossy black taskbar WITHOUT using Tweak2k2.
Can someone give me some pointers on how I can change my taskbar to glossy black ?
BTW, Steve, your tips on changing the Today icon position works beautifully. Thanks for that.
Still lots of bugs?
Magic button 2.1 seems to be quite buggy.
The position of the today icon just randomly moves about. It even moves all the way to the right, completely wipe off my clock and date, network signal, and other icons. When it is not doing that, the position of the today icon does not seem to stay at the same position. I notice that the registry value changes by itself as this happens.
Any idea what causes this and if there is a cure?

I use this program as well and it's also my favorite. I'm considering putting it into 3.0 of AP when released.
Yes it's a little buggy and I've noticed that the fix for color blending isn't working very well, nor is the placement of the house icon. I've e-mailed the developer to see if they can resolve this. If they fix both issues it would be a perfect addition to the ROM as it would replace xbutton and batti (buggy batti btw and I've disabled it for now with a tremendous improvement).
Thanks for noticing the registry value changes on it's own. Maybe we can lock down that value some way so this doesn't happen but it may cause an issue. Not sure if there is a way to lock down registry values or protect them in WM6 but it's worth a look into.

There is some slight movement of the Today icon upon closing all active tasks, but not enough to cause problems for me.
I suspect when the Today icon moved all the way to the right (covering all your taskbar info) you may have inadvertently changed the registry setting by selecting Magic Button 'Settings.' If you go into Settings, it will overwrite the hack, and if you don't select "Show clock and 4 icons" it defaults to 0, moving the Today icon all the way to the right upon exiting Settings. I think if you do the hack last, after getting all your other options set, the hack will hold... at least it seems to for me.
I think the flaw is too serious
Icon position
==========
I tried the registry edit, and found out that in 128dpi, the smallest value for the position (as described in Steve's post) is 06. That would place the today icon immediately to the left of the phone signal icons, and would cover up any mail message and vueflo icon. If you make it 08 so as to enable the vueflo and mail message icons to be visible, then when you move to 192 dpi portrait mode, the today icon would be completely off to the left of the screen (i.e. does not appear on the device at all).
This means that with value of 08, magic button is completely non-functional in 192 dpi.
Even with value of 06 (which still covers some icons in 128 dpi), at 192dpi it is no longer possible to close an application. This is because we need to press and hold the running icons on the task bar in order to close it. At 192 dpi, the runnng icon is no longer visible on the taskbar, thus you can longer press and hold in order to close it. Even if there is only one application running, as long as you are not on today screen, the running icon would not appear on the taskbar. If you're on today screen, because the today icon shifts unexpectedly to the right by one position, then it is possible to close the running application if you have only one application running. However, if you have more than one running, then even on today screen, you could not close any application. The only way around this is to switch to the landscape mode so that running icons have room on the taskbar to appear.
Color
====
The color blends better in 96 and 192dpi. In 128, the look is bad. Unfortunately, most of the time I'm using 128dpi.
I think pBar is still the one.
But seriously, I do not say that pBar is perfect. In fact there are a few problems, as listed below:
1) the date and time color is not right. My solultion: don't use it.
2) the favourites items could not be rearranged. The move button does not work. My solution: not a big deal. I don't need to move them.
The only regret is that it does not put up the running icons on the task bar, therefore, switching/closing program is a two click process instead of one click. Similarly, going back to the today screen is a two click process instead of magic button's one click.
Its advantages are also plenty:
1) it is very space efficient.
2) it solves the problem of comm manager in realVGA display.
3) it allows up to favourites program to be quick launched.
4) it really has no problem in realVGA environment. Magic button does not handle realVGA very well, in terms of icon positioning.

Add Special Window Files as icons on Home Screen

I have 6.5 and am using the traditional today screen. I have Spb Pocket Plus for my home screen as my launcher.
Is there any way to add the Lock option that is normally found after you press start in the lower left hand side? I can add any file or program to the launcher, so I just need to know what the name of the lock file is. I'd also like a shortcut to Settings so if you know that name, that'd be great too. I have found running the traditional today screen gives me about 50 free mb's as opposed to barely 10 with TF3d.
heres a cab i made that will use the 6.5 lock and set the LSK for Lock...turn titanium off, install, turn back on...good to go...cant figure out the settings part...im not able to get it to work...hope this helps!!

Very Annoying Problem with quicklinks on Homescreen after a Hard Reset

Following a HR after developing a problem with Sense not loading I now have an annoying problem concerning the quicklinks on my home screen which I'm hoping someone can help me with.
I have my quicklinks set out in a 4x4 format with the first 2 rows of icons visible on my screen. Prior to the HR it was simply a case of swiping my finger in an upwards motion, this then removed the clock from the screen and the bottom two rows of icons slid into view ready for me to use.
Now, for some unknown reason, when I swipe my finger upwards, the first two rows of links are still visible, but the bottom two rows don't now move up. What happens is that I'm taken to another screen which is blank except for a notification bar that shows the current date and time. This is really annoying and means I can't now access the bottom two rows of icons.
After the HR I installed CHT 1.8.5 & editor, I had an earlier version installed prior to the HR. So I'm wondering if it's got anything to do with this. I've spent hours meticulously going through CHT settings and still can not correct this problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
sounds like your home screen is messed up.
Click on Menu, Edit home layout and make sure you are on level 1 main home.

Thx for the reply.
I've gone into edit home layout, level 1 main home and everything appears to be fine. However after clicking ''done'' the same problem still remains. I'm stumped??
Problem sorted!
I went into CHT Editor and selected ''Restore Defaults''. This took my quicklinks to a 3x3 formation but when I swiped my finger upwards everything worked as it should. It was then just a case of re-selecting 4x4 formation and the issue was sorted.

[APP] zMooth use gestures to replace hardware keys

zMooth works on nook's with rooted android 2.2+.
zMooth lets you use gestures to mimic your device's hardware keys (back, home, menu and power(in Pro)), you will be able to use very intuitive gestures to navigate your device.
zMooth is unobtrusive and uses minimum amount of screen space but very easy and intuitive to use. If you use for couple of days you won't even think about using the buttons.
After you install the app you will see a blue area at the bottom of the screen, swipe left on this area to go back, swipe right for menu, gesture a up-arrow(^) for home and gesture a lightning strike/thunderbolt to power off. Please check the screen shots and video for more info.

Support is built-in to the app, "Preferences->Help" will resolve most issues. If not resolved just contact me through "Preferences->Help->Contact Support" and I will be happy to resolve any issues.
Thanks.
it works, its kinda cool but being able to move the gesture area would be great
Can you provide screenshot of your nook, never tested on it so was wondering on how it looks.
Would you mind if I use your screenshot in other places? (hope your screenshot doesn't show any personal details)

Really awesome application. I'm the kind who can't stand having soft buttons popping out by the side. This works wonderfully for me. Didn't know how to use it at first though. There should be a quick guide in this app without having to connect to the internet to view the FAQ.
However, with that said, this is still awesome. Love it.
WOW! I'd say I spend about 1/1000th of my time on XDA in the themes and apps section...Now..in one day..the sense icons for settings..the honeycomb style softkeys are here (which are awesome..but now obsolete IMO...because of THIS! this is EPIC!)...It took me about 1 minute to get so comfortable w this that I completely hid my dockbar and statusbar...Now I have ALLmy screen real estate, except for a thin blue line at the bottom of my screen that does it all. This is going straight on my EVO...and I'd bet you start seeing something like this on factory releases or at least as an option. A very simple yet brilliant idea. It actually makes me feel a little bit sad for Murdock...he accomplished so much for CM7 in SO little time..and now this comes along.TRY this NOW.

It's OK but interferes with stuff on the bottom - there should be an option to move the swiping area. Also, it doesn't always register touches.
Wow!!!
Sounds awesome, i'm trying this straight away
Looks like I won't be having to double click my home screen button anymore
+1 for being able to move the swipe area. I don't like gestures over my dock.
Yeah, I Sent an Email
to the developers to enable the gesture area to be moved - until the app is useless and will probably get hammered on ratings in the market. I'm giving it one star until they do this.

You don't Even NEED to use the launcher's dock...that's why there's an option for losing it under a launcher's settings....Eliminate the dock...Put a shortcut or action butons to whatever you want on either side of the "thin blue line", and you're golden. The gesture area can be adjusted to where its about a third of the size of a dockbar anyway, so I don't really understand that issue...I set my swipe options to hide/unhide my notification bar (which now lives at the top)..so my end results look like these before and after shots: From A to B to C....Who likes C?

Moving of swipe area is under development in Pro version. I wanted to make the moving very intuitive/configurable so it's taking time.

Awesome app, got the pro verison. Keep up the good work.
1 bug to report. When modifying the display of the bar, values seem to constantly reset when going into the sliders, though the physical bar won't change itself until you return. You might want to make the sliders default to the currently set points when entering the screen.

I get what you are saying, but it's a to each his own thing. Maybe some people REALLY like their docks. I actually do hide my dock, but I don't want to have to do all of my gestures on the bottom of the screen. I already use gestures in ADW. Swipe up for notifications (notification bar on the bottom), swipe down for my app drawer. I would like to use this app for side to side gestures, and preferably I would like the gestures to take place somewhere in the center.
..and windroidHD, just to be clear. Your app is awesome. I would just like to see the additional functionality. It sounds like you're on top of it, and I gladly await the arrival of a pro version that will allow me to move the swipe area.
regarding why it's at the bottom of the screen to start with...
Why not left?. because when you think about back, intuition is to swipe back, if gesture area is on left side then you can't swipe left as your finger will move out of screen and gesture can't be recognized.
Why not right?, same as above but for menu.
Why not top?, If it's at the top then your hand has to obstruct the screen and do a gesture at the top of screen, this breaks the visual link of your eyes with screen.
Google knew that they made a mistake with android hardware buttons, that's why honeycomb has fewer hardware buttons and soft buttons at the bottom.
The "standard" way of designing in android seems to be let user configure everything and figure out the layout of app, that to me is absolute crap. Developer has to think what makes most sense and let the user not worry and do trial and error out the position of gesture area.
That said, I don't have nook so I don't know the general workflow on it. Configuration of position still under development.

No offense, but you're not giving your end users very much credit.

I understand if it sounded like I was "not giving credit", but do you see why I picked bottom to start with?. On contrary to not giving credit I have added options in the first Pro version itself to let user pick his colors and size which suits their theme and finger size.
Can you let me know which of my points about position are incorrect?, may be I am wrong, but which one will work for nook workflow?.
Thanks.

Here's a perfect option: Write your own app or don't use this one. OP..purchasing pro now...(and I almost NEVER buy apps)....and telling everyone I know to do the same. Change things if you want, but this version is quite perfect in my opinion. Off to Reddit to absolutely honk this. Great Job.

Pretty harsh buddy. All I did was request a feature. That is what happens in every other app thread I have been in. I wasn't rude, I didn't threaten to leave a crappy rating.

[Q] browser not resizing columns

When looking at webpages my screen does not automatically reformat/resize the columns so that I can read the page easily. It does resize the text but not the text column. It does not fit the text to the screen width. This results in me having to scroll left, right, left, right in order to read a page. It is quite frustrating. Coming from a thunderbolt, I am used too it resizing the column when I enlarge the text so I don't have to constantly go left and right to see all of the text.
Is there a setting I am missing or something to cause it to do this? How can I fix this problem?

Please see my post of today in which I describe the same problem and note that on my ancient Samsung Droid Charge I had none of those difficulties. But there was no choice of font size.
Do you have the ability to pinch and zoom? Mine doesn't seem to work right if I'm supposed to have it. For me, in the long run, it will be a deal-breaker. I spend an average of 2 hours/day reading on my phone.
