VZ Navigator Problem - Touch Pro CDMA

I have a Sprint TP with the leaked VZ ROM working on VZ network. VZ Navigator will not work and I have paid for it. What must I do to get this working?

VZNavigator doesn't work on Custom roms becuase the proprietary LBSDriver is missing on custom ROMs. Its encoded into the signed rom. SCRosler over at PPCGeeks created a custom rom and was able to get VZNav working. You may want to go over to ppcgeeks.com and send him a PM. All I know is you have to get the proprietary LBS Driver off a signed rom for the aGPS to work.

You need the Nav drivers as that other dude said. You can get them at PPC Geeks
Also, get the GPS hack

I finally figured out how to add addresses and look up businesses on the web and synchronize them to my Navigator's "Favorites". If anyone is interested here is the link: http://my.telenav.com

It depends on what you select. I've been playing around with this the last few hours. Pretty nice so far.
i dont see it on my install i might not have selected though lotsofchoices in this kitchen
how long did yours take from the cold boot
Why use this instead of dcd kitchen?
With the HTC HOME plug and Windows Live services the DCD takes 52 seconds to be completely booted for me. I just timed it.
Evil, I just did the kitchen because I wanted the HTC home and stuff that weren't on DCDs. Can those be added? Or are they an option that I missed? Thanks. I've been pretty happy with the 6800 so far (now that I've found custom roms!), but I still can't get gps to work.
Finally It's HERE! Just wanted to give a super thanks to all the PPCKitchen Devs! I'll be spending the rest of the night cooking!

It depends what people want.
One of the new PPCGee's kitchens, as DCD's recent builds, is around a pre-release of the Wm 6.1 OS. As DCD has said -- the builds and ROM configurations experimental. It's nice to have options for a more stock but modular build. That said, I've just noticed that the PPCGeek 3.35 kitchen still retains SQM (Customer Satisfaction, etc..), Welcome Center, and a few other unecessary items -- it isn't a full cleaning.
just so everyone know.... you can put ANY PROGRAM you want in to ROM using dcd's kitchen. you just need to put the programs OEM Packet into the kitchens OEM folder.
it look like the big difference would be 6.1 (dcd) or 6.0.
i will play with this for sure though. i love to cook. especially in a new kitchen. hmmmm

Do you use a proxy to access the internet? I'm getting that same error and posted at PPCGeeks in hopes of someone having a way of authenticating to my proxy.
Yes. and I can't get around our proxy.
Jeff Kirvin posted a request for the proxy authentication problems. He's got a louder voice than I do, so hopefully that'll lead to some resolution.

I checked it out, it is really cool, and a little modification to dcd's kitchen to make it a module and I am sure his rom could be popped in it...maybe I'll try that tonight. The huge benifit is the PPCGeeks OEM library, the extra OEMs are already made and all you need to do is select them also the ability to add whatever splash screen you want is cool too.

I think the quote from the website was refering to passwords on the kitchen rom files, which I don't know if there are still any or not but I know there used to be on the apache ones because I wanted to try and copy the structure so I could get it working for myself on the titan, but the apache base rom at least at that time was protected by a password so you couldn't open any of the files.

DCD roms and kitchen archive?

Hello!
I would like to get a copy of DCD's kitchen for his rom 3.2.0 and 3.2.2 (or the closest one to that).
The reason for that is that I want to compare what has changed between the two and hopefully locate the file that makes it so that skype 2.1.0.66 hasn't been working anymore since 3.2.x versions.
Somehow, DCD's site is down and I can't locate those files I need.
Any help?
Thanks!
i have the rom on my hard drive and 3.2.2 as a kitchen. if google dosnt find it i can send them to you

is msxipkernel\nk.exe
Thanks DCD.
Is there an adverse effect in replacing that file in your newer rom? (aside from making skype work?)
Hum...
NK.exe is THE kernel...
Switching it might be a bad idea I guess, it might break lots of things?
Stuck on 3.2.0 until skype fixes their software I guess...

Since dcd knows which file causes the issue and hasn't found a decent workaround/replacement for the file, I'd be willing to bet it isn't a "plug-in the file from a different WM version" fix. As I recall this was a pretty hot issue when WM6.1 surfaced and I believe the post below might say it best.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=434875&postcount=52
It seems Skype isn't interested in supporting our phone and they have the resources of eBay. If they wanted to support us (and a vast number of other phones,) they could..... but they don't. That's called a "marketing decision" when big corporations do it..... specifically, a "poor marketing decision."
I've seen services called "iSkoot" and "Nimbuzz" mentioned as alternatives.
Well,
I just tried both : Nimbuzz does not hear anything from my Titan's microphone and iSkoot wants to call their gateway with a regular phone call, which is long distance for me, so, it's out of the question.
I also do not get any audio with fring on my phone.
Any other ideas before I flash back to DCD 3.2.0?
imo, this was due to an idiotic/crappy/lazy slap wm6.0 code into wm6.1 platform builder move by HTC ... It worked, with some weird side effect on code that uses critical sections it seems... well, not all code... mainly multimedia apps (such as tcpmp). Unfortunately, until HTC fixes the kernel with the correct code, we are out of luck.
3.2.1 and above also broke SRS WOW
it seems the kernel update broke a few media apps...specifically the ones the tried to interface with the audio or mic

Scott’s VZW ROM - Working VZ Navigator (eRice kitchen v1.03.7) - OUTDATED!

Scott’s VZW ROM - Working VZ Navigator (eRice kitchen v1.03.7) - Rev 1 out!
UPDATE 19 DEC 2008 @ 18:00 Central Time. New ROM is out. Consider this thread discontinued. Files will be on the website for historical purposes. I would recomend upgrading to my latest ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=461524
UPDATED 12 Dec 2008 @ 19:00 Central Time
** You will need to dial *22899 after you flash to reprogram. Do this before anything else.
** Other model phones from other carriers will loose custom EPST settings per NexVision's testing.
REVISION 1 Changes at the end of this modified original post
This ROM IS FOR VZW USERS ONLY!
Greetings fellow VZW users. My first creation for us is Custom a ROM based off of eRice’s kitchen in this thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=46965.
ROM Info:
**The ROM I created is nearly identical to the “STOCK” ROM with a couple minor additions and an upgrade to the core CE OS files to version 5.2.20931. I pulled all the apps and drivers from the leaked VZW ROM in this into the eRice kitchen from this post: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741
**I stripped out the Sprint drivers and applications from the eRice kitchen and added the VZW drivers and Apps from the VZW leaked ROM. It was fairly seamless to do. I tested VZ Nav and it worked great!
** This ROM is considerably more smooth than the stock ROM and more responsive in most applications including Touch Flow. No, it doesn’t fix our missing memory problem but I dont think you will notice it as much now. What makes it great is it is based on the 20931 CE OS but retains the 100% stock look via proper drivers and applications.
**VZ Navigator runs well on this ROM!
As far as I know this is the first “Custom” ROM with any sort of GPS for the XV6850.
**********************
*Revision One Changes*
**********************
Added N2A Weather Patch to Autoinstall. INcludes most US cities and patched weather server.
Added Diamond TF3D Config to Autoinstall (Runs with no errors)
Added Nue Fonts with a few extra fonts than what the OEM normally has. They look great on this screen!
Added Advanced Config 3.3
Added Turn off SMS Sent Notification - cabbed by "mixtapeking1900"
Added DotNET CF 2.0 along side DotNet 3.5. DotNet 2.0 installs first then ver 3.5 via Autoinstall (CONFIG.TXT in extended package OEM for the kitchen users.) I bieleve either could be removed but not truly sure. DotNet 3.5 was needed for Advanced Config.*Note - Selecting dotNet 3.5 in the KITCHEN will cause problems! Dont do it unless you proplery modify config.txt to not load them in the AutoRUN.
Removed IE 6.1 (Breaks My Button Setup!)
Removed JetPrint Bluetooth printing (whatever it is called, not sure)
Fixed My Button Settings not launching from the Settings Tab in Manila
Fixed Voice Command> I added it back in. Go to "Settings -> Voice Command" to turn it on before it will RUN!
Kept HTC YouTube
Kept HTC Network Plug in
Kept Internet Sharing
*All Three of these are from the eRice Kitchen. Big thanks to eRice for all 3!
No other installed programs than those listed and the VZW OEM apps.
The ROM is now pretty close to Stock which was the goal. This should be the last revision unless someone finds a major bug.
AS always, please report bugs and any thing you like as well.
Files located at www.scottcrosler.com
Mad Thanks go out to eRice, Commenex and ImCoKeMan for making this possible! Without them none of this would exist!
UPDATED 12 Dec 2008 @ 19:00 Central Time
Basic Installtion Instructions
Download ROM and extract to desktopp (Now includes RUU). Start the ROM Upgrade Utility and follow instructions Flashes just like ANY other phone or ROM. Flashing will destroy ALL data on phone. Always sync with ActiveSync before starting the upgrade utility OR place your phone in bootloader mode (Power, VolDown, and reset)
A call to *228 or *22899 (automated activation line) WILL BE REQUIRED for normal usage! This is true of ALL ROM's and even a simple hard reset of the Verizon stock ROM.
Before you flash you MUST be unlocked. I do not support the unlock process or the software but I can tell if you that if you follow the instructions at the link it works perfect.
Link to unlocker is here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42503
Link to ROM and RUU is here: http://www.scottcrosler.com/
Bugs so far:
Wiped Clean on new revision
**Here is where you will see gains with this ROM over stock...
1. Navigating through menu's, especially the settings menu.
2. Smoothness of TF3D (debateable depending on the tabs.) First time will be slow for EVERY device if you leave ALL the tabs enabled. Each tab is a like a sep app that has to load when you select it. After the tabs are loaded you will see even more gains over the stock ROM.
3. File explorer. Go to the Windows folder. No further explanation needed there, trust me. The stock file explorer took nearly 15 seconds to load Windows. This does it almost instantly.
Updated Kitchen Files!
This is for the eRICE KITCHEN. This is not my own Kitchen but an add on of VZW OEM files to the eRice kitchen.
Its the OEM pack that I used to create this ROM. Its what I stripped out of the VZW leaked ROM. I added just a couple OEMs that are not in the cooked ROM. I dont have the original OEM's broken out! IF anyone wants to break it down further like eRice did with his original kitchen let me know and I will host it on my site.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR KITCHEN SET UP:
Download and extract (to desktop) eRice 1.03.07 kitchen from here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42796
Delete the entire OEM folder from inside the kitchen!
Download and extract the VZW OEM folder from www.scottcrosler.com and place it in the eRice kitchen as to replace the one you just delted. I made one minor change to the pure VZW OEM folders.I dropped the phonecanvas XML provisioning file into OEM apps. i think it supposed to be in SYS but I dont know.... It works fine the way it is. If you have never heard of the file then ignore this part of the post.
Start RaphealKitchen.CMD and follow instructions.
***Do not select DotNET 3.5 in the kitchen!!!. It is enabled by default, delelect it. Will cause issues.
I will try to support the kitchen as much as possible. Please do not bother eRice with this hybrid kitchen as I am sure he will not support my hybrid creation.
Thank eRice for this kitchen.
Thank the original poster of this thread for the leaked ROM I worked with:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741. Not sure who posted it.
Thank me for putting it together!
I AM NOT TAKING CREDIT FOR ANY OF THE FILES. I do however take credit for converting to VZW OEM.
Should there be a link to your ROM here?
Are there instructions on how to flash?
Like putting phone into bootloader mode or anything else necessary?
Does the unlock process wipe the phone or does only the ROM update wipe?
Anyone tried this yet? Any reviews?
It's a lot of work to reinstall everything and to re-apply my special settings, even though I've been documenting what I've done.
Also, I was thinking of trying that Telus radio. Can I still try that on this? Does a radio update/change wipe the device clean or that's non-destructive?

I updated the second post with the steps you need. Sorry was trying not to get flamed on my thread. Someone over at PPCGeeks flamed me for pretty much no reason other than the fact that they could. It only stopped me from releasing my ROM over there. Oh well. There loss. Too bad because there are some really good people over there. The eRice kitchen was perfect in every aspect of a ktichen. I was never so impressed. Impressed enouhg to download the leaked ROM and portover the VZW software ;c) Its a nice change over the stock CE OS. If you flash let me knwo what you think.
Hi Scott,
I've been lurking on both forums since I got my Titan last December. I have learned much from everyone here and over at PPCG: these are the best resources by far for those of us into our phones and the tech behind it.
I agree that you were treated less than "professionally" over at PPCG, and hope that you will continue to work on the VZW TP/XV6850. Thanks for this great use of Eric's kitchen tools and stock ROM, along with your knowledge on how to get them all working for us! My take from the eRice thread is that he has no issue whatsoever with you using his stuff, and in fact he welcomes it for us VZW stepchildren... hehe.
This ROM does indeed kick arse, and hopefully GC and others will figure out the PRI lockdown and we will all have an amazing little machine to play with: it is w/o a doubt a much slicker device than the Titan, and I dug that little unit for the better part of a year
Cheers Pal

They will figure out the PRI crap. It will take time. I wish skywing would port over his adapter program. I could incormporate that and we would have 100% GPS just like everyone else. He stated in his thread he was not interested in doing so. Thats a huge loss for us that we never even had ;c(
For the record!
For the record:
I have always asked permission before I redistribute any item found here. I asked DCD for his kitchen when I posted my R4R ROM for the Titan's.
I asked eRice specifically if I could port his stuff over for VZW users. His response was:
"if you can get the sprint carrier files split from the rom/kitchen and include the vzw ones, more power to you. that's what this forum is about. sharing ideas and results and improving on them for the benefit of everyone."

A few people have tried on PPCGeeks with great success as posted above.
Keep it coming. Two things to note. And YES I Just installed this ROM.
First, I had to *228 (not surprised but it is required to get data connections to work. This has been true for every ROM i've played with as well as custom ROM's i've built in the kitchen.)
Second, Comm Manager is missing from the slider menu with TF3D enabled. (Although still accessible via the keyboard shortcut.)
I will play some more and let you know what else I find. Thanks.

The comm manager TAB or the comm manager link in the settings Tab? Its just fine for me. There is no Comm manager TAB in VZW version of TF3D.
I see you use the PPC Kitchen. That does have the Comm Manager Tab and you are used to that. This version is stragiht ripped from the ROM. No changes AT ALL. The stock phone doesnt have COmm manager Tab.
How about responsiveness?
Launching VZ Nav opened Opera and downloaded the CAB. CAB launched got to privacy screen but complained about not being able to save privacy settings. Only option is to lick OK. You are then brough tto the "default" VZ NAV error screen telling you there was a problem with your GPS device. I do have the CAB for VZ NAV now however.
Re-Launching VZ NAV produces the same result. Unable to save privacy and crashes out.
My mistake. You're right. I've gone through so many ROM's that it's a blur. The "Communications" link is still under the "Settings" tab in TF3D as it should be.
So far responsiveness is good. I have not configured the settings for my "regular" business use however.
Perhaps the reason VZ NAV will not install is because it's the official signed version?

No, It always crashes twice at the initial set up, even on the Stock ROM. Its a crappy program I know! Try it a third time and you are good from then on. If not let me know and I will upload the Cab that I have. Nothing special about it though.
EDIT: I relfashed my phone, installed and it worked for me. It still does the three times to load problem. Two GPS errors for me. Then the third time it starts. THis is the EXACT behavior of the stock ROM.
bkurek,
How do you "go through so many roms"? Isn't it an hour or more to reinstall all of your apps and personal settings or is there some easier way that I'm missing?
I can't restore with SPB Backup, right?
Would you say this rom is noticeably faster?

I go through them because I enjoy doing so and I'm looking for what *I* want. Yes it can be that long but I don't go through all the motions until I've found the right combination/foundation to build on. I did not for instance configure ALL of my email accounts or setup active synch in vista, etc etc
Yes it does feel very snappy but just like anything else you'll find it to be faster today and go back to *****ing about how slow it is tomorrow. It's a matter of perception in the end. You'll always want more. I'm actually more interested in a stable build than a faster one because I already know it'll never be as fast as I want it to be. I have experienced a myriad of stability issues that if I don't find a remedy for I will return this phone. They manifest mostly in the messaging components at this time. I have not had to soft reset a phone this much since 1990-something. Speaking of which, as a completely uninteresting side note, I have not posted to a forum since early 1990-something but the point is that I do like this device and would like to see it improved upon is why I am taking the time to post now. It’s a cool phone. Give it some time. Someone, somewhere will make it faster and more stable. I think.

Interesting. My stock did not have this problem but it came pre-loaded with VZ NAV. Third time is the charm.

DCD, I may have it wrong but you don't seem to be a guy who appreciates the 'mushy' moments. Warning, mushy moment ahead...
Welcome back DCD! We missed you!
...end mushy moment.
Did you get your computer fixed then?

Changes from MR1 to MR2:
Radio:
3.37.75 to 3.37.78
Imgfs:
OEMDrivers\msm7500usbfn.dll
OEMDrivers\gpsid_qct.dll
OEMDrivers\oemgpsone.dll
OEMApps\62d9d90d-ce88-4d26-80bf-501516399504.rgu
XIP:
OEMXIPKernel\nk.exe\S000
The XIP change just updates the build date. The rgu change adds this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PhoneInfo]
"FixedERIDestination"="ERI/00004"

I think the radio gets updated from 3.37.75 to 3.37.78 and there are three newer files, msm7500usbfn.dll, gpsid_qct.dll and oemgpsone.dll. He says the XIP change just updates the build date and the .rgu file changes the registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PhoneInfo]
"FixedERIDestination"="ERI/00004"
Looking at the new files, msm7500 is the chipset so it looks like this might be an updated usb driver. The other two files deal with the GPS chipset. The registry change though I'm not sure what the FixedERIDestination key does but it looks like it has to do with the phone.
This is mostly speculation though and if I'm wrong, I apologize for the misinformation.
I do wonder if the MR2 has to do with Verizon's change of stance on locking out 3rd party GPS apps. Anyone try this update?
I tried it (getting a new 6800 tomorrow as the slider is dead on this one). 24.6 meg at start up. NO GPS. Will use DCD on my new one tomorrow.
The 'readme' included with the update says:
Some of the primary enhancements with this upgrade are:
• Enhancement to VZNavigator performance.
• Voice calls performance improvement on Motorola network.
Too bad they did not provide any other information....
I'm tempted to install this to see if I can get better call quality at home. Is there any way to determine if a particular location is 'on Mototola network'?
can't get GPS work with tomtom 7 after upgrade to MR2
wet back to dcd 4.1.2 cuz no GPS lock
I'm running the MR2 ROM and my impression is that it feels and works very similar to the MR1 ROM (no real surprise given the tiny change log) The GPS fixes I'd been using on MR1 work just fine on MR2.
I dont use many programs, but the stuff I run seems to work great
* BAF's GPSToggle
* Skywing's GPSServer
* Live Search
* Mochasoft 5250
* Outlook
* Internet Explorer
* ArcSoft MMS
* Cyberon Voice Recognition
Memory at boot:
Total: 46.92
Used: 22.20
Free: 24.72
FYI, .NET 3.5 will not install on this new ROM.
I contacted Verizon, waiting for a response

Worked fine for me, I used the same CAB that I'd used on the MR1 ROM. I think GPS Weather Radar and maybe WiFiFoFum use .NET, both work just fine.

I'm getting this too, I found a CAB that claims to disable this but it makes a whole lot of other "tweaks" that I don't want. I suspect there's a registry setting but don't know what or where. Hopefully somebody will come up with a fix.

Is there a TF2D for the Mogul, that I can install manually rather than Flashing?

Because im having problems with my internet connection with R4R Titan, with M2D, and I really like the ROM, but I think its DCD's cab that's doing that.. I have used other ROM's and never had a problem.. I used the carrier cabs as mentioned, but still have a problem..
I performed a hard reset as well and no progress.. The internet is slow, and now im running NueROM3 and it works... But heres the question.
Is there a way to install TF2D on my Mogul (Sprint) without flashing the ROM? I like NueRom3 rom...
Is there a way? Im kinda new to this... My radio and SPL are updated to the latest as well.. If that should be of any concern.
Yes, go to the development and hacking section and there is a huge thread on M2D with cab install. Its what I use on my titan with the same setup as you.
Just search for Manilla 2D in that section. Its a huge thread.
Im looking aroudn and I find files, but then its telling me to get this and this, and I have this file which is just PNG. images, which I assume is the layout, but now I can't find the thing thats suppose to load it!
And Megaupload has this stupid ass CAPACHA that is impossible to read!
Now that I finally found one..
Im having issues.
I can't use the Camera Icon.. Something about certificate
Weather doesnt let me add a location
Music Doesn't let me play from the button
OMG.. Ima break my Mogul.. Im tired of this phone.
Is there like a Registry Hack to fix this?
If you liked the M2D from the R4R you had, I can extract that for ya. I realize the newer builds are a bit buggier than expected.

What you mean?
By the kitchen?
The R4R is a great, but DCD's ROM has me connected through dial up.. Instead of Sprint PCS... Its weird... I use NueRom3 and im connected good and downloads are fast.
I don't know what's the problem.
I just want M2D on my Mogul with my regular connection... What ROM's are compatible with minor bugs with M2D? I could careless about those bugs.. As long as I have my stable connection..
that is a buggy m2d in that thread (hacking and development)
i rather reflash with r4r
give this cab a try it has work for a feww people including my self. Lrt me know if it works for you.
