HELP ME
Dont worry buddy.. u r at right place to get saved out.
I am a newbie but still can suggest u to do a hard reset to restore your HTC in factory condition.
To hard reset
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:
4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
It's a little difficult to help you if you don't give out all the necessary info.
What phone model?
GSM or CDMA (if you don't know, you're probably in a lot of trouble)?
What SPL?
What ROM?
Did you flash anything immediately prior to the black-out?
If so, what did you flash?
Again, what exactly did you flash?
Answer the previous question.

relocking

How can I tell if the relocking worked. TP is broken & i need to return it.
i tried this to get into bootloader mode, but it didnt work
1. Pull out the stylus
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the VOLUME DOWN button when bootloader appears
is there another way? it just reboots the phone.
so I finaly go into bootloader mode BUT...
doesnt look like it worked. It says Security Unlocked up top & spl 0.37.0000
I used SPRINTRELOCKER.zip from here. How can I lock this phone so I can get one that works?!
nm, i think that means its locked.
I know this thread is a few weeks old, but I came across it and figured I'd throw in my two cents.
From what I've read here on XDA Developers and over on PPCGeeks, you must reflash to stock radio and rom, and THEN relock your phone. That'll essentially put it back to factory defaults, thus Sprint will be able to service your phone.

Big problem need help

This is my first post, so hy guys...... (i hope ive posted it on the wright location)
when i'm pressing the Turn on button it comes only the green "HTC" logo in the middle Without the system information in the left bottom i've to be onest im getting scared cause ive tried a lot of hard reset and nothing happens....
another problem is that i cant connect it at the pc because the connection by usb dont work.....what can i do?????
you're device is stuck just before flashing a rom (that happens when you perform task29 for instance)
Quote: "If you get a white screen with "hTC" in the middle then you need to take out your battery and enter bootloader mode manually before continuing (take battery out and put it back in, then hold the volume down button and briefly press the power button. Keep holding the volume down button until the bootloader screen appears)"
after that you can flash your device with any rom
Good Luck
get into bootloader mode and then flash a newer radio ROM. solved the problem for me.
p.s. read thoroughly about the correct radio for ur phone before flashing one

[Q] confused about locked and hardware locked

Hi guys,
I am still new to this phone and I am trying to read as much as possible. but there is a lot of terminology to absorb. And I definitely want to make sure my phone is OK before the 14-day period when I can exchange it..
So, I unlocked my phone using one of the posted methods on here. i tried it with an AT&T sim card and it works.
Now, I read that there is something like a "hardware lock" which is bad .. because.. I wont be able to root or put rom or update my phone? I tried to go to a recovery mode, but could not, is my phone hardware locked?
Thanks in advance!

Did you do the correct way to recovery?
-Phone off, both volume keys held down
-Hit and hold power button while holding down volume keys
-The word vibrant will come on, and then it will go black again and reboot (still holding down all three buttons)
-When you see the word vibrant THE SECOND TIME let go of the power button but keep the volume keys down until you boot into recovery.
If not, most likely you are hardware locked. I don't have this problem but I think there's threads around for hardware locked users for workarounds and such.
yeah, i did exactly that:
1) power phone off
2) hold both volume buttons
3) hold power button
4) vibrant comes on, wait, vibrant comes on 2nd time
5) release power button, still holding both volume buttons
6) Vibrant starts in a normal way, i do not see anything different, so I assume i am in a regular mode, not recovery mode

Make sure your Vibrant is hardware locked.
If you suspect that it is, you can read this thread HERE.
That will help you get your hardware locked phone working.
Unless you want to go get a new one.
I tied the following ways to test if my phone is hardware locked
1) vol up+ down + power
2) volu up + power
3) vol down + power
Nothing worked How would my phone would be hardware locked? I have not rooted, installed roms, nor apps.. Everything is stock, except that I unlocked the phone. that's all..
And it will be a huge pain to ship the phone back + wait for a new one, which there is no guarantee it wont be hardware locked ..?
Would I be able to install any rom if I am hardware locked? It seems like bionix mod is pretty popular..
Hardware lock is simply a boot loader issue. The phone has software the runs when you turn it out which in turn boots up the operating system. In hardware locked phones, the boot loader is not looking for the key combo to access recovery or download mode. If you go to the link provided, it tells you how to flash your phone to update the boot loader so that it is no longer hardware locked.

[Q] Change what buttons make the phone boot into recovery?

Is it possible to change which hardware keys boot the phone into recovery? My volume up button is broken, but my phone thinks its being held down all the time when I power my phone up for some reason (except rare occasions), so I'm always booting into recovery. Currently my phone is on, so I was wondering if there was a way to change what buttons you need to press to boot into recovery.
I have a myTouch 4g. I would've posted in that forum, but I was told to not post a few topics in a row over there. So I figured I'd ask here, plus there are probably more people here who might be able to help me with this.
Thanks!
