It is so but please reade the article carefully. Its not what you and I are wanting but its a step in the right direction.
aGPS will still be locked. Meaning that we will not have fast locks but will eventually get locks.
Someone will get there hands on the beta ROM and unlock it far before it comes out.
My two cents.

Unlock GPS on Verizon HTC Touch Pro??

I was wondering if there was anyway to unlock the gps on verizon's touch pro so that I can use it with googlemaps and other gps enabled apps. If there isn't a way to do it, is there any development on a way to unlock it?

I am sure they need to figure out how to unlock the phone first. Thats still in development for our phones. Once that is done I am more than sure somone will have it unlocked shortly after. Just keep checking the threads and we will see an announcement by someone. I am even sure we will see more than one thread on it.
How about Skywing's
I don't have a TP to try this on yet. Been watching this forum in anticipation of moving up (?) from a xv6800.
Has anyone tried Skywing's hack to see if it works on a TP? In one of his posts, Skywing stated that he didn't see why his hack wouldn't work on any stock Verizon 6.1 install.
Just a thought . . .
The posted bits will not work on the xv6850 due to some timing differences with how the GPS driver initialization works. There is no value in using those bits on the xv6850.
The posted bits were stated to work with the xv6800 and not any Verizon device with WM6.1. Some people have claimed success with the xv6900, but I cannot speak to any possible success or failure with that device. They will not work on the xv6850.
I already tried to install Skywings fix and as soon as I click Use GPS in Google maps, it locks the phone beyond recovery.

I installed Skywings Vallhala cab. it opened up or unlocked the GPS so it was discoverable by OnCourse navigator 8 but wouldn't actually work or find satellites. It didn't lock up my device or do any harm whatsoever. I guess I'll stick to my bluetooth receiver for the time being....
yeah my phone froze up too when i tried using GPS in google maps after installing vallhala.cab. i think it's gonna need a little something more than just using the same hack for the xv6800. i really hope someone is in the process of development.
From what I understand its just figuring out how to unlock the unit then after that its easy to do whatever you want
Has anyone been able to do anything in QPST or does the phone need to unlocked to use QPST?

No, not quite. Hait to burst everyone's buble but its not quite that simple. The phone has been unlocked just not released to us. They have GPS up and running but only with VZNav. They are trying to work with GC for a GPS solution.
I can thoerize that this will only work with a fix from Valhalla.
It has alot to do with how the PRI's are preset. To make a long story short they have sort of proved this by flashing a new radio from sprint and it still wasnt "unlocked" Same thing wiht the titan would happen after MR1. The only thing that could revert the PRI back was a revert to a non GPS radio. Then back up to a GPS radio with a standard PRI instead of the VZ locked. From there you were good.
Well there is no pre-gps radio to revert back to for the Raph. Thats why I feel we will end up going an emulation route. The drivers are differnt than that titan which is why all of our phones crashed with his fix. Or most anyways. We need him to create a utility for us until someone figured out how to "cure" the PRi issue.
I may not have used the exact correct terminology in this post. Im more of a ROM guy than a GPS / Radio guy but this is how I understand it. Someone correct me please if I am wrong. And I deperately hope I am wrong on this one (Although I had no doubt in my mind when the phone was introduced this was to be the case. They were basically beta testing the GPS system with the Titan and Vogue. Sit back and think about).
Here is the thread I am reffering to:
NexVision's VzW TP ROM

The version of QPST I have sees the phone but doesnt knwo what type it is. I selected the only profile that had GPS one and it "seemed" to work but I wasnt about to test it by writing to the phone.

As posted in the thread on the Titan forum, those binaries won't work out of the box on the xv6850.

Will a gps fix for this phone be a reality inthe near future or should I just forget about it?
looks like verizon is actually going to unlock GPS on most new phones including the HTC Touch Pro in the first half of 2009

HTC Touch Pro Crashed!

Today i bought the HTC Touch Pro, i updated the rom to a newer version but when is start up the phone the screen is freezing while the openings-screen appears (where you see your ROM-version in red letters). I already did a hard-reset, but it didn't help. What can i do now?
well, hopefully you didnt update the phone to the wrong type of ROM(CDMA vs GSM). Who is your carrier? and what rom did you try and flash?
Did you use Hard SPL first before flashing??
Did you follow this guide? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
Need to know a little bit more before anyone can help you out.

Honestly if the phone is only a day old from a store I would exchange it and be more careful flashing. If this is not an option, you will have a difficult road a head of you. Try searching around. If I wasnt at work I would search for some threads for you. There are a LOT of people here who can help.
Haha someone beat me to the search!!

I think i'll wait for the official release of Windows Mobile 6.5 on the HTC Website...
The only problem now is that the Touchflo 3D theme dissapeared from the phone...

A problem has occurred with...

... GWES.exe Anyone know what this is all about please and if there is a cure / fix?
This seeme to come up pretty regular when the phone is in hibernation mode and you power it back up yourself. Very strange and pretty odd.

There's not a lot more i can say really mate. The message is as i have said really. White screen, message along the top and then some rubbish about sending to Microsoft, send or don't send. That's it!
I've had this before, from what I gathered on the net it is something to do with the drawing of the graphics on the screen. The advice I found was to simply turn off Windows Error Reporting so that you can ignore it. Its all I did and it worked for me
And if the graphics on the screen look alright to you, then there is no problem anyway!

That's one solution, yes. However, that it only 'masking' the issue. It'll still remain in the system won't it. All you're doing is like... well, ignoring the fact there is a fault which solves nothing!
Yes, but it's such a minor fault. And after a couple of days of not seeing that annoying message you'll find that you start sleeping well again.
The only other way to get rid of it is to remove recently added programs to see which one caused it, it will only be a minor incompatibility issue.

If it's done this from day one then is does sound like a corrupt ROM. You'll need to either ask for another TG01 under warranty or wait till xda release a ROM.

Results - Orange diagnostics test shows handset as FAULTY based on power test. Replacement arriving tomorrow.
Someone on Orange... do me and yourself a favour... ring 150, option 1, option 3 and tell them from time to time your phone is rebooting every now and then (even if it is not doing this) and could they run a test. I wanna know if they are ALL bugged in some way or another.
The good thing is, if you have any probs with your phone in the future, you can quote them that is was diagnosed as faulty so you have comeback so it's a win-win situation
If you decide to do this and they DO find a fault, great, no problem but if you've personalized your phone, be polite and tell them 'well, i think i'll stick with it another week but you have it on record now anyway eh' and they'll be fine with it.
Honesty eh... damn, what a concept!
Yep, check out my post about GPS problem. Orange said that was a fault and a replacement was sent next day, guess what, I still have the same fault on this one. Hope you have better luck!

Then tell the dev of the program to update the program to the new standards. That will get rid of it even with being on a stock rom.
What would they fix (unless, of course, they provide a hack like is supported here)? This is how Android deals with programs that do not use the correct programming standards for ICS and beyond.
Forward this to the developer of the application which has this issue.

I have a friend who works for HTC, he actually got me my Dinc, and he told me last night that HTC is hopefully pushing out an update within the next two weeks to address the black menu bar issue.

I hope that HTC or Verizon does not push out an update within the next 2 weeks as that might delay or derail the current S-OFF efforts...
Just as bad would be if the update re-locks the bootloaders of those lucky few who were able to unlock via HTCDev...
I would LOVE to remap the "recent apps" capacitive button to Menu and go back to holding Home for recent apps. That black bar is seriously annoying!
