Everybody has been stating that they got GPS to work, but only some left instructions. I hope this helps. Thanks to those that gave me advice on how to get this working.
Make sure unter "External GPS" that the "GPS Program port:" has "COM4" selected. Leave "Hardware" alone which is the next tab over.
Then under "Access" make sure "Manage GPS automatically" is checked
Live Search for some reason wouldnt work until I got in my car and drove away from my house. Right when I drove away, the GPS kicked in, and worked as if I had an external GPS. My settings for Live Search are "GPS COM4".
In order for TomTom to work, you first have to get your GPS location in Live Search, then launch TomTom, and then TomTom will work fine as if you had an external GPS.
My TomTom settings are "NMEA GPS receiver" then "com 4" then baud is "9600".
These are the steps i took to get GPS working with the new ROM update using the internal GPS. Havent been able to test the Rev A yet. But it seems everybody is stating that is working fine, but only some were able to get GPS working.
Hopefully this will help you all to get GPS working with the new ROM. W/o me doing these steps, I wasnt able to get GPS working. Also please note that I had to leave my house for it to work. With my Bluetooth GPS receiver I could get a location in live search or Tomtom w/o leaving the house. But for the internal GPS, i had to leave the house.
Have you tried with google maps. For some reason i can get GPS signal in my house with google, but not with live. Also, under the GPS hardware, does yours say none, and baud 9600 or 4800?
Edit:
Never mind, I got it working, live just connected in my house. I have baud set to 4800, don't think it really matters. (anyone know what baud is anyway, and what the best settings are?). I wish there was a way to do this without live though.
baud is just another word for bits per second, its the connection speed of the hardware, since its internal it probably wouldnt make much of a differnce

I have everything working but tom tom 6. It says no GPS device what gives? Do you have to have Live search running in the background for tom tom to work. I close Live Search after aquiring five satellites then launch tom tom 6 and all I get is no GPS device. hehe I know this is a beta and not a release rom. I have no Idea how people can aquire a satellite in their home. Shesh I have a huge solarium and still have to go outside.
what do u mean you get five satellites? Also to answer your question, what i do is after getting the GPS fixture in Live Search, I just click start and go to Tom Tom, without doing anything to live search. It seems to close automatically when I open Tom Tom.
Does anyone know if the GPS signal comes via the Sprint towers or is my phone communicating directly with the satellites in the sky? I ask because getting a signal inside my house seems unreal.
GPS signals come from satellites which is why the signal degrades when you move inside, eventually becoming nonexistent or unreal.
When someone says they are getting five satellites it means that is how many signals their device is receiving and using to triangulate its position. It requires at least four satellite signals to triangulate a current position and the more signals it can pick up on the more accurate the triangulation.
Ks.
when i said "unreal" i meant unbelievable i have a globalsat BT308 (which is kind of old, i bought it in 2000 or 2001) and theres no way i would ever get a signal inside.
so even if i go out of sprint reception area i can still communicate with the satellites right?
For some reason I always have to setup the GPS device in TomTom. It works but as soon as I close TomTom it looses the GPS settings. Then I have to run through the setup again...
Anyone else having the same issue?
My GPS wasn't working at all until I turned on GPS location under the phone menu. Location Settings under services.
Once I turned that on my GPS started picking up satellites with in 5 seconds sitting in my house.
Does Anybody know how to get the GPS to work with iGo 2006? I am having no luck at all getting iGo to recognize the GPS device.
TomTom appears to have a bug where it does not see the port windows gps port sharing is showing because the hardware port is set to none (I think it's actually com1 for the real hardware). As a result until something OPENS the port for tomtom, it's unable to attach to it. Until this is fixed you have to launch some other program that does work first and leave it open for tomtom to open the port.

Theoretically, you should be able to get a GPS signal anywhere in the world.

I understand that they can selectively disable regions now. (read about it in the paper when they unfogged the signals) so conceivably,we wouldn't be able to use our moguls in iraq or afganistan.

I think what they do is place devices selectively in those locations that send out false GPS signals to confuse the NAV devices. (probably from ground based stations or on moving convoys that are trying to NOT be detected)

Has anyone gotten Garmin Mobile XT to work with the internal GPS?
I am going to hold off on Flashing and give DCD some time to mature the release since I already have a G10 bluetooth reciever and have no issues but it would be nice to be able to leave that in my car and use internal when I'm not in my own car.
As far as i know...these are govt sats that are "open to the publuc." In a state of emergency or other situation, they can be blocked or certain areas can be blocked so only, say, certain govts/military could use them. This was the only way the us govt was willing and able to let the gen pop use the sats.
Hey guys,
Can you tell me if there is an "issue" with the GPS on the Alltel Touch Pro phones? These are fairly new phones and have only been out for a couple weeks so there may not be a lot of info available but it sure seems to me there are some issues here.
I'm on my 3rd phone. First phone was probably OK but since it was new and nobody in the area was familiar with it, everyone thought the speakerphone speaker was defective... turns out it just sucks but that's in a different thread. On the 2nd phone we noticed at the Alltel store the signal kept dropping out completely and then coming back. Also I dropped a call, looked at the phone and it showed no bars in a very good signal reception area. That coupled with I couldn't get the GPS to reliably work, Alltel swapped out the phone again for me thinking the GPS was defective. Well, third one might be worse!!!???
I have verified I have the 911 location settings turned ON.
I have run QuickGPS and downloaded the data.
On the 2nd phone after several days of trying it off and on and having zero success I decided to get the $9.99 monthly Alltel app. It did indicate a weak signal but eventually picked up my location. Hmm??? I then went into Google Maps and it too was seeing around 10 satellites. Why could I not get it to see any satellites for days then as soon as I paid for the monthly Alltel app it "kinda" worked??? I say "kinda" because after that being able to lock onto satellites even in an open field was very iffy. So, I took the Alltel GPS app off the phone and did a hard reset because I still couldn't consistently get any satellites. After the hard reset I tried again with Google Maps and nothing. I then downloaded GPS Test and it immediately found several satellites??? I then started up Google Maps and then it immediately started working too?!? During all this I installed TomTom Navigator 5 (own that so thought I'd try it) and it too was "iffy" if it would find any satellites but it did connect so long as I had the GPS Test program running in the background. I could live with that but even with the GPS Test program running in the background on the 2nd phone it wasn't at all consistent even outside in an open field. What I find odd though is that the GPS seems to "stick" and the GPS Test program was "unsticking" the locked up GPS... but not reliably.
Now for the 3rd phone. Get the 3rd phone this morning and immediately download Google Maps, turn on location settings, and do the Quick GPS. Do a soft reset and try out Google Maps in a parking lot. NOTHING again after over 10 minutes. CRAP! Downloaded GPS Test and now on this phone I'm only getting "GPS starting up" with one yellow bar. I can't even get GPS Test to work now but it finds the GPS and acts like it is trying to lock on to satellites. On both phones it was defaulting to 9600 baud. Seemed to not make a difference if I select 9600 or 4800... when it works it works and when it doesn't it doesn't.
This is very frustrating. It is not like the programs don't work because I've got them all to work but only sporadically. Is Alltel doing "something" to this phone and the GPS like "half assed" locking it out??? I don't know what else it could be. Could I have got two bad phones in a row? I've read were other Alltel users just download Google Maps and, bingo, works immediately for them.
Any ideas as to what I might be able to try would be greatly appreciated. I love some of the features on the phone but some of the basic items that should work (speakerphone, GPS) on an expensive phone like this don't work worth a darn
Thanks!!!
Drop the Alltel Nav plan...you don't need it. All it did was set your GPS settings to work, which you can do in the settings. Set GPS Hardware Port GPS and GPS Program Port both to none. Set Baud at 4800 and allow automatic managment. Soft Reset just in case and you should be good to go!

I only had the Alltel Nav plan for a couple of days... only got it for troubleshooting.
I had tried your settings before and both Google Maps and GPS Test could not even find the GPS. I just tried again and same results... GPS just keeps scanning for the GPS and can never find it. You have an Alltel phone?
The setting that you recommend me changing away from the default setting is the GPS Program Port... if that is set to NONE, the programs can't even find the GPS. When I change it back to COM4, the GPS is found but GPS Test sits at "GPS Starting Up" with either no satellites found or just one most of the time. I did the other day get it to work even on this new phone but then yesterday tried again for 20 minutes sitting still outside and the best I got GPS Test to show was 4 satellites... not even enough to get past the "starting up" message.
It seems like it is defective again but, man, TWO phones in a row with a bad GPS?????
So last night after replying to this thread, I was messing around with the new google maps. This morning...NOTHING works with my GPS. Perhaps the download of alltel nav (although canceled) activated the GPS on my phone for a specified time and now the sub ended. I was sold on this phone by Alltel reps because the GPS was not locked to an app.

Well, after screwing around yesterday like I did, I decided to just let it set in my garage (with many sky lights) this morning for a few hours with the GPS Test program running and looking for satellites. NOTHING. Did a soft reset, went outside, started up the GPS Test program and within 5 seconds was locked on to 10 satellites!?!?! I could swear I've done soft resets before and it did no good. Will try a soft reset again if it quits working on me. Also, I'm inside the house now in a room with ZERO windows and it is still seeing 7 satellites. I suspect there is an issue with GPS on this phone but because it seems very "flaky" I'd think a software update may be able to fix it... hope so anyway!
You might want to try a soft reset and see if that works for ya?
I also talked to a smart phone expert guy and he said it doesn't hurt to do the Quick GPS DAILY. He has found that on many phones running a program like this daily helps the phone to connect much quicker. FWIW, I didn't run it today and after the reset it connected in seconds. LOL
Ok, so I tried running Quick GPS and I get an error "Connection Failed". Perhaps this is somehow related to the GPS issue? I will keep trying throughout the day.

I only ever got that when my 911 location setting was turned OFF when I first got the phone. Turned that on and it worked no problem. Also, of course, you have to be able to get your data connection established. With a data connection and your location settings ON, I don't know why you'd have a problem.
GPS no worky right for me......
Finally someone with a thread for this issue! I too am having the exact same problem. The GPS is very "flaky" at best.... I have had it work sporadically at best in the car and will drop it for no reason and the pick it right back up and then go out for good. I dont really understand what to do, it is all quite a mystery. I have manipulated the settings back and forth trying diffent things to no avail. I hope there is an update soon that straightens this out. It annoys me becasue my old titan got signal in about 10 seconds, 10 satellites, indoors, in any part of my house.... just a bit frustrating. Hopefully we get a fix soon.
Thanks for any advice on this!

This was driving me nuts! Now not only does quickGPS work, so does google maps I remember now changing that setting last night. Who knew?

After messing with this a bit more, I think there is definitely an issue with the Alltel version of this phone and the GPS. It seems that if I can't get it to work, it WILL work after I do a soft reset. What triggers the "need" to do a soft reset I have not yet figured out. But, I do know that I saw a friend who just got a Sprint HTC Touch Pro and had no idea about the GPS. I downloaded Google Maps on their phone and in less than 5 seconds the GPS was working like a charm.
Looks like the Alltel GPS works but is very sporadic at best and, for whatever reason, requires a soft reset damn near each time you want to use it. Hoping for a real "fix" for this soon!
and how do i change the 911 location settings
The 911 settings are located in the settings for the phone. START->SETTINGS->PHONE then click the Services tab and it is under the Location Setting.

Ok here is something that may be contributing to my problem. So i have double and triple checked the my location check and looked at the option which has always read "on". the strange thin is that the icon on the phone dialer screen shows my location feature is set to off. I have gone back to check the location setting and verified it was on. So i selected off then back on and then the icon reflected it was "on". I have tried soft resets after doing this and it goes right back to the way it was before I force it on. I am now hinking this is what is contributing to the flaky response of the gps. just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.....

Which icon are you talking about? I looked through the online pdf manual and could find no icon that indicated this setting was on or off
Also, while a soft reset sometimes works for this, it doesn't all the time. What has saved me time in this, though, is that I've learned that if it doesn't connect in under a minute, it ain't going to. Mine either works pretty much right away or doesn't work at all. It does seem to help to start up GPS Test first but that doesn't always work either.
After reading a bit more about this on other forums, it doesn't look to be related specifically to the Alltel version like I originally assumed. A number of people with other carriers are also experiencing "flaky" operation of the HTC Touch Pro GPS. The very sad part about this is that, apparently, HTC refuses to acknowledge a problem exists.
Would be nice to know if this is a software/driver issue or hardware issue. If a hardware issue then I'll be stuck using an external receiver most likely. Software, I can hold out hope that somebody will get it figured out!
the icon i am referring to is on you phone dialer. it is a circle that resembles a set of crosshairs. when the location feature is on, you will see the crosshairs. when the setting is off the crosshairs have a diagonal line through them. i am using my phone to send this so i cant attach any pictures right now. the icon is right next to the back arrow at the top of the dialer where the number you dial is shown.
update... spent 30 minutes with alltel smartphone support and they had no solution other than saying they would send this to the group that reports issues to htc to work on a solution. they did offer me to return it but i like this phone too much. i am
sure we will figure it out soon enough.

Ahh... I see that now and amazingly enough, mine has a line through it. I'll check that next time I can get the GPS to work and see if it changes.
Like you, I really like the phone but it greatly aggravates me that something so expensive doesn't work, as designed, out of the box.
I have had 3 alltel TP phones and all of them once 911 and location was set to on and quick gps was run once then they always got instant locks of 10 satellites. On my mogul the best i would ever get would be 4-6 satellites. Google & Live search use the intermediate driver with default settings with no lag and Iguidance (which is the best voiceprompt gps software) works with no lag when using Franson GPS gate as a virtual com port for the GPS driver.

If you go to your phone dialer, is there a "line" through the crosshair/circle icon?
I haven't been able to get a lock for couple days now. Bummer. I'm going to call Alltel tech support again and see what they say.
Ok, after not even beeing able to get more than a couple satellites being shown in GPS Test which means nothing more than a GPS Starting message, I decided to call tech support to see if they had documented any other issues with the phone since I last contacted them. I was told there are NO known issues with the Touch Pro (not even the problem with the speakerphone or the previously reported GPS issues).
After talking with tech support and they guy telling me that they get a number of calls for "other" GPS software programs but not too many for the Alltel Navagation program that they offer, he told me he can't help me with the other programs and I should contact their vendors. I tried to explain to him that one was a simple GPS Test program and the other was Google Maps but he kept saying that they don't really have problems with "their" GPS subscription program.
Being basically fed up and figuring it was worth the $10 to continue to troubleshoot this problem, I downloaded the Alltel Navagation program again. And guess what... IT WORKED. Guess what else... when I had the Alltel Navagation program working, GPS Test and Google Maps work fine too and I'm even inside a large building right now!!!
Does anybody have any "inside" on what is going on here? I know a number of Alltel people say the GPS on their Touch Pro works just fine using something like Google Maps. On mine, it "sometimes" works. I find it VERY odd that on my last Touch Pro phone I NEVER got even a single satellite to show until I downloaded the Alltel pay program. Now, with this phone, after struggling with it a bit I can "sometimes" get it to work but haven't been able to for a couple days, even after numerous soft resets but now, immediately after activating and running the Alltel program, my GPS starting working just peachy and even inside a large building!?!? I've got a full 5 bars in the Alltel GPS program inside. WHAT GIVES???
I'm going to pay for this Alltel program for a few days and see if I can consistently get a lock. If so, I'd sure like to know why the phone's GPS magically gets "better" so long as you pay for their service

I am using the regular windows dialer and yes there is a line through the circle/crosshair.
I just went outside and launched Gpsgate/Iguidance and had 10 sattelites instantly, it has been at least a week since I have drove and used the GPS, but I use it all the time with no problems or lag. Inside I almost instantly get 6-7 sats. using Google maps or livesearch without GPS gate, only the MS intermediate driver I get instant locks as well. I ran quick GPS once about a month ago on this unit.

Smartphonetracker is a nice free app....it uses Google maps to locate....brings it right to the house view...(street view)
I second Smartphonetracker. It works great
so i just dl the smartphone tracker..... still kinda noob
1. when i check the SMS box it says #, thats my phone # right????
2. i put my email in and so does that mean i send a email to that address and it tells me my phones location???
just tryin to figure how this thing works
The sms box is phone you want the sms/ google map link sent to. If you leave the box blank it will send and sms to the phone that sent the sms to activate smartphonetracker on your phone, you click on the link, and it will open the phones bowser in google maps, and show you where your phone is.
The email location, is an email address that you want SPT to send the google maps link to. You will get an email from your phone with a google maps link, open it, and it will show you where your phone is.
Hope that helps
This application is fasinating! I really like Smartphonetracker! I'll sneak it on my friends sites and track them like the government!
i am actually trying sprite terminator now, ill see how it works for this week and then ill try smartphonetracker next week and compare
ill post the results

Has anybody used SmartPhoneTracker on a verizon phone with bored's GPS fix? My rom has the fix and GPS works very well using google maps and live search, but this program won't pick up the GPS (continuously says initializing GPS).
Thanks.
Anyone know why I get "Initializing GPS" for Smartphonetracker and it never gets past 0/1? I installed it to internal memory. GPS and data connections are on. I've got good signal. I'm running version 3.5 of windows .net
If I click "Send now" it says GPS not available. It's a Sprint Touch Pro with the standard rom.
Nevermind. Once I got out of my office building for lunch it worked. Must not have been able to acquire my position from inside.

now just if it was able to get A-GPS position(triangulate). I know it's not accurate as actual GPS position, but atleast it works inside buildings.
I think best would be two triggers, one to initialize A-GPS and second one to initialize actual GPS. As the GPS message does not get sent until phone gets GPS signal, it would be good to send A-GPS signal to get the proximity of the phone. Once the phone has GPS signal, it would provide exact location. This way if someone stole your phone, you would know the approximate location, and then just wait and get the actual position from the GPS and track that #@$#))#@$ down.
there may be a better way, but thats what i've thought about.
well, since starting this thread i settled on sprite terminator its been working great
tested it a couple of times and it works great!

RemoteTracker works very well on my Verizon Touch Pro with bored's GPS fix.
Guys this is great!!! Thanks a lot for this post!!!
I can't believe that nobody's brought up Flexilis. It's free and it does everything from GPS Remote lookup of device to remote alarm initiation(beeps for 5 mins and the person with the device can't do a damn thing to silence it, even if they power off the phone then when they power it on again it'll beep again for the remaining balance of the 5 mins), and remote wipe abilities.
I've tried practically everything I've found. Telus cab file, QPST method, changed registry settings, etc. Nothing seems to work. So, I'm hoping someone here can tell me what I am doing wrong or what I am missing.
Phone: XV6800
Carrier: Verizon
Radio: 3.42.50
D: 3.56
P DXAAXAM-4350H
I am running Build 21501 (via this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497303)
Location On is set
GPS Port is 4, hardware port is NONE, baud rate is 4800, Manage GPS Automatically is checked
I've done the QPST Configuration thing a few times with different IP addresses/port numbers (Verizon, Telus, some other ones) and none seem to work. At the moment, my settings are:
EnableGPS = 1
EnableGPSSmartMode = 1
EnablePDEIPFrom = 1
GPSMode = 1
NumberFixes = 999999999
QoSAccurace = 50
QosPerformance = 89
ServerIP = 216.198.139.92
ServerPort = 8889
TimeBetweenFixes = 1
I am using Google Latitude ("Use GPS" is checked and "Managed by Windows" is selected) and it just sits at "Seeking GPS satellites(0)" regardless of where I am located (home/work/inside/outside/etc).
I am guessing that either I need a different radio, different IP/Port or my device actually has some hardware issue.
Can anyone help me?
Try to use something like htc gps tool or gpsvier to see your status. Also in those programs see if you see red dots on the satelitte view. If not I bet location is off or you are using a custom rom and did not rool back to pregps verizon rom before going custom. Verizon blocks gps with mr1 on custom. So do below directions.

Here is the easiest way to fix your vx6800's gps.
Here buddy, you want to follow my guide. This is the way I fixed my vx6800's gps when a verizon ROM upgrade locked out the gps. Just read it and follow it perfectly and you will have no problems from then on.

This method has helped me, and many others out. I made the steps to be easy for almost anyone to follow. I also provide the downloads.

Hi-
I believe the following are the correct settings for Verizon:
ServerIP=66.174.95.132
ServerPort=8888
And don't forget that after you do the setup using QPST you must edit the registry and change settings there. I have had no trouble on my Verizon XV6800 using QPST and getting the GPS to work. I have the same radio as you and the same ROM.
There are tutorials on this forum and on PPCGeeks that provide the complete instructions. This one has worked for me many times. Note that shadow-tech tells you to "see post #2 if you're not on Alltel". There he gives you the settings for Verizon and other carriers:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36377&highlight=Alltel+GPS
Good luck!
It took me almost a month to figure how to get my GPS working. Finally after reading hundreds of post, someone mentioned that when you dial *228 to program your phone the friggin sheisters at verizon use this opportunity to disable the GPS all over again. Relock, flash back to MR1, unlock using nue 2.47, flash radio 3.42.50, flash custom ROM of choice ( I am using the newest 6.5 build 21222 from PPC Geeks), DO NOT "update roaming" by dialing *228, and you should be good to go. All of this is a lot easier if you flash from an SD card < 2 GB. Good luck.
P.S. screw Verizon.

Thanks for the input. I went through and did everything you said. I am having issues reinstalling Google Maps (it just pops up an unsuccessful message in the middle of it) but I put Live Search on and it can't get the GPS to lock either. So it seems I am still screwed.
Let me state this again for you. You must roll back to pregps rom before goign custom on a verizon phone. Please follow the link I provided. Also do not use google maps. Use htc gps tool or gps viewer to see your signal. That way you can see if your gps is even trying to get a lock. If you do not see red dots on the satelittle view of either program than you don't have location on or you did not roll back before going custom.
I went to your link and started at step one. When it came time to install the Radio and ROM, I used the 3.42.40 radio and the new 21222 ROM from here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=903142
He just updated the rom again last night and I just flashed to that rom to see if it would help. Now I can't seem to install any apps on there anyway so I guess whether the GPS works or not doesn't really matter until I get that fixed.
Everything I try to install tells me it was unsuccessful.
Edit: Actually I am mistaken. Skyfire installed fine.
And I have downloaded GPS Viewer since the other one wouldn't install and it found the GPS (COM 4, 4800 baud rate) and I click "Open GPS" and my LAT/LON are both 0.0" and it tells me "No Fix".
Are you outside? Is your data connection active? Did you look in satellite view to see if you see red dots? How long did you wait for a fix?
I was outside. I saw about 6 boxes with numbers come up below the globe. The only red dot I saw was one right at the "N" on the globe. No fix or lat/lon. I waited for about 3 minutes.
Well you are at least trying to acquire. Maybe try to stay outside longer. And you didn't mention. Was your data connection active.
I just checked again, making sure the data connection was up (I believe it was before as well). This time, however, I was seeing dots around the globe, not just at "N" adn the value for "Dop" was alternating between 0.0 and 13.1. Still no LAT/LON or Fix, though.
Well it is trying to acquire. Give it some more time.
Also being that you are using agps. I kinda doubt the servers adress are right because this is working at standaloen gps speeds. Also maybe install quickgps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1862269&postcount=2
Quick GPS can't download apparently so no help there.
I think I'm going to give up on this for a while. It's just not meant to be.
I would say theres a chance the GPS driver in the ROM you are using is a tad buggy. Your GPS at least finds satellites just never gets a lock correct? If you cant get a lock its because you are using a vx6800 make sure your ERI is version 4? Make sure to use QPST to uncheck all the agps boxes in the GPS one tab and then recheck them? ex: all blank [ ], then all [X], then double check your port, ip, and position calculation (dont leave that page write to phone while still in GPS one tab.) Boot ROM back up and double check your registry settings for aGPS, then last thing you can try is putting GPS in standalone mode. By setting Gpssmartmode to 0 enable agps to 0 and gps mode to 1, soft reset and try again.
Thanks for the info. I'll try it and let you know what happens.
You have to run the registry changes that are listed on the page I gave you. That fixes the download problem.

So I put the thing in standalone mode and it works! I am not sure what that means, but it works, so I won't complain. Thanks for all your help everyone!
Hey everyone i know alot about this phone from your forums. I have done the gps update on my phone using the wiki you had and Worked for some time. So after some time the gps wont pick up any satellites. Ok so i thought well i would hard reset and resintall the carrier cab and gps cab nogo. Ok so i reverted to stock rom and redid to dcd rom and radio added the carrier cab and gps cab again nogo. I even tried the mr1 update with gps cab via your wiki and still google maps and live search wont pick up the gps. Does anyone other than a defective gps unit have any other steps to try would be appreciated. thanks
Did you even search to see if others had your same problem. Look in the last 10 pages here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424387
have you applied the aGPS fix? and if you have, did you update with the new information? im not sure when it happened, but verizon changed the IP address and port you should be using. i lost gps for a while and didnt even realize that a hard reset made me lose all my gpsOne settings (when i lost my akey). if you have the aGPS fix set up correctly, you should have no issues at all.
I've been having a similar problem. I am not sure what the definitive ip address settings for verizon users should be (ip/port, that is). I think I've seen at least 2 or 3 different settings, including Telus ones. Does anyone know, definitively, which ip address and port we should be using?

When you mean the ip address change do you mean using qpst and if so i might not have changed the ip address.so i will give that a chance i saw in a previous post a different ip didnt think anything of it. I will try and if someone has the new ip can you please send it to me.
I found
ServerIP=66.174.95.132
ServerPort=8888
Or is it
ServerIP = 216.198.139.92
ServerPort = 8889
And one thing i looked at my phone and when i pull up qpst i dont see the usb ports listed i do see unknown i would try those but if anyone has anything on that would be great thanks
Guess i have to revert back from mr1 to dcd rom hope this works i loved my gps. my omnitech with igo and navigon is ok but i like google maps better.
you should be using DCDs rom anyways. the correct settings are the second block that you listed. your ports may not match the same numbers as the wiki, but add them both and open whichever one has SURF next to it
Use the telus servers. The verizon ones are hit and miss if they work without VZ navigator.

whats the settings for telus doing rom update right now
68 to 69
Ok so i had the xv6800 and got it working with gps. Then i decided to get the xv6900 because it has more ram and i knew my software i had would work on it. Plus i knew about this hack so....I gave it a shot.
Well I turned on the XV6900 as soon as i had power running to it, and it came from verizon with 6.1 on it. Which saved me some time having to install it later. The first thing i did was install the vahalla cab that i had on my 6800.
the registry settings were automatically set at
Mode 2
PDE address 5C8BC6D8
PDE port to 8889
I then installed the Serf telus agps deal....
Mode 4
server ip 216.198.139.92
server port 8889
then i install Franson gpsgate2.6
and it shows me a lite green icon on my today screen then when you go into settings it says "getting gps data, but no position"
I couldn't get gps to work in google or live. Maybe because i was impatient. I sat here at work on the 8th floor of my building and still couldn't get it to work. So finally I when i was leaving for work, i called my wife to let her know i was on my way home, and when i hung up the phone....there it was. The light green was now dark green which means gps position. And it works now. So i installed tomtom and that works (btw i use gpsgate for this to fool tomtom into thinking that the installed gps is a real tethered gps, because built in wouldn't work). So now gps works great, until I turn on my phone on the 8th floor. So my guess is, the gps has to get a lock outside with clearview of sky while you use your phone. once you do this the agps helps out and then you can go inside and still have location.
Try it let me know if this works for you.
btw- has anyone been getting text msgs saying a free software update available by dialing *228 then 2? this updates the roaming area. I wonder if this is tied in with us hacking the gps. Just a thought.
Telus server info.
