Obviously I'm a n00b I just got my 8525 yesterday, right away I upgraded to WM6 went all day today with it working fine, I installed a PockMSN and Windows Live anyways to keep it short I FIGURED I WOULD just RE-INSTALL Windows Mobile 6 to get a fresh phone (didnt know hard reset did the same) Actually it was the 3rd time I flashed the OS and RE-UPGRADED to WM6 to get a fresh phone!!!!
~heres the trouble~
In the middle of the reinstalling WM6 I accidentally reset my computer, didnt realize it right away and, got ERROR 260 I believe, anyways I followed the directions, took out the battery and reset, plugged the USB back and RAN the Offical WM6 Rom of HTC site again and it keeps getting stuck EVERYTIME at 11%, I have tried it like 10 times and it gets stuck at 11%, and I get the same ERROR. Says Communication error 260. I have tried everything I know reset the computer, changed USB cords, and Nothing, everytime it gets stuck at 11%!!!!!!
Any Ideas about how to get my 2 day old Hermes back??
(I know i did a n00bish thing and I am sorry)
same place everytime!!
I tried to reinstall Active Sync, changed USB cables, switched USB ports, nothing!! I keep getting ERROR 262 (thought it was 260 at 1st) and wont get past 11% says no connection. I do notice everytime i try this process, Active Sync isnt connected, but the Hermes is connected to the computer! Cause if it cant read the hermes it wouldnt be able to even start the update process. But 11% everytime its stops

Perhaps you could try to flash using the sdcard method. So you would not be connected to a pc anymore. Who knows, it could solve your problem. I know one case where installing an official rom cured also a similar problem.
Quick summary of the sdcard method:
Use an empty sdcard formatted in FAT32
Copy the RUU_Signed.nbh file containing the OS to the card and rename it: hermimg.nbh
Enter bootloader mode (OK + POWER + Softreset). Normally, after the 3colors screen, you will get "Loading" followed by a description of what is on the card.
When ready, press power and... wait...
Good luck (The phone is NOT connected to the pc)
sounds good but I dont have a MicroSD card reader to do that. And I am using an Offical HTC WM6 ROM, thats all I ever used was the offical WM6 Rom from the AT&T site. Like I said, I was able to install WM6 already, but me being a complete idiot was Flashing the upgrade ROM to get the Hermes back to fresh phone factory settings. But I accidentally reset the computer in the middle of Flshing and since then I have never been able to get it to install again, everytime I turn on the phone I am stuck at the Tri-Color Screen, I am able to restart the upgrade process, but it stops at 11% says ERROR 262 and no connectivity!!
please anybody knows anything, this is the only thing I got, my mom got it for me! We cant afford to get a new one, or even fix it, it was a special present!

Ok. I am a bit annoyed if you cannot try the sdflash method (BTW you can ask somebody having a PC to prepare the card for you.)
There are different things you can flash on your hermes. Radio, OS, Splash screens, Extended Rom,.... The most tricky thing is the radio rom as a failure there has a higher probability to brick your pda.
This is why i believe it is very dangerous to flash right away without some readings and understanding about what you do. i hope you had some experience here.
Did you first install hardspl (olipro 2.10 )? This is not mandatory but is a very good protection against bricking. (here the excellent guide of mrvanx: http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=27 )
Did you flash also a radio rom? (Was it included in the "package" you wanted to flash?) If yes, i am a bit anxious that a stop at 11% is a problem... BUT, if you flashed a radio rom, it goes very, very, very... slowly. And gives the feeling that it freezes. For the "radio" part it is normal . I hope you did not stop the process too soon.
Once again, try the sdcard method. Or try to flash an official rom (most of the time containing a radio part...) and be patient. Can take till 25 minutes.
If this does not work, do not panic yet. Others had also problems before you: go there and start reading : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286755 and here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unbrick
There is a hope to solve your problem. Good luck
Try to flash a radio ROM, turn the device on and if it stays at the bootloader screen (the tri colour screen) make a note of the version displayed. Hook up the device with USB cable, dont worry about activesync.
Download and unzip a radio ROM upgrade (try this one), run the exe, select your bootloader version on the screen....follow the screens through and see if it works.....radio roms take ages to flash so DO NOT disconnect your device.....if it doesnt work you most likely have a corrupted radio bootloader.............which is likely since the radio flash takes the longest ammount of time the reset probably occurred halfway through this.................unlucky
Give it a try though.
The lesson to learn here is to READ THRICE and flash once.....never ever disconnect your device out of impatience (which i suspect has happened many times on a radio flash) and be carefull these devices are expensive

I could not say better
I know, the MicroSD method is nice, but when I got the phone the guy gave me a MicroSD card, but not the regular SD card to read it on computers ( i do have a card reader) Guys a super appreciate the replies> I am gonna try everything rite now, but real quick is my Hermes FUCT??? or is this error fixable??? It is just losing communication everytime at the exact same place, it just seems like something is fixable, but my sorry luck i cant get over the hump!! I will let ya'll know ASAP
okay, here is the thing, Every Hermes ROM update utility I have downloaded wont work, i start it and the VERIFY INFO ON HERMS windows appears about 2 minutes late I get ERROR 260 and it exits! Now when I use the OFFICAL WM6 upgrade ROM from the ATT/HTC site it seems to read the HERMES and wanna start the upgrade process, but thats where it ends at 11% No other RUU I have used or tried has even gotten that far, I just get ERROR 260 before it starts and I have to exit.
What it looks like is I cant communicate with my HERMES at ALL!! Active Sync wont see, only when I reset my computer and reset the HERMES and I plug it in a different USB port, it says Installing New Hardware and HTC USB something and then Hardware has installed and is now ready to use. But Active Sync wont recogniZe it
I'm sorry to tell you that but i think you ****ed up your phone and it is as useless as my ****ing jasjam.
please give us some detailed info s about your hermes like IPL SPL GSM STATUS....
When I am in Tri Color Mode I see.......
HERM100
IPL-1.04
HERM100
SPL-2.03
and SERIAL at bottom, then USB when I plug it in to my computer
I had upgraded to WM6 before on it, but me being a impulsive FOOL, i flashed it again to get me back to Factory Setting (didnt know HARD RESET did the same) and I accidentally RESET my computer in the middle of ROM Upgrading and ever since I cant get past 11% when I try to do it again (using the OFFICAL WM6 ROM from HTC)
and I cant get any communication with mtty although I dont know much about that app, I get a CANT load screen appear
is your phone KITL enabled.
hold the COMM manager button + POWER button + OK button (the one on the left side under the jog wheel) and reset with stylus.
if you see KITL dialogue then it is KITL enabled (MY bricked jasjam is KITL disabled)
if it is KITL enabled then read : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=PB_KITL_HERMES and your phone will be just fine.
if it is not then your phone is ****ed up just like mine
HA HA, me and my phone guy (well the guy who I bought my Hermes from) HAVE FOUND A FIX to get the phone outta Bootloader Mode and back into OS!! in my case WM6!! I have to do it 1 more time to fully confirm the method!!!!!!!! My friend is calling "SHOCKING THE PHONE" but not really shocking anything!! I am reluctant to share the method, but this site needs more people to actually HELP out others

Mmm... do i understand correctly your post? Are you hesitating to help others because your method is risky, or because you express some exasperation about people on this site? In this case, do not forget that all people here are exchanging ideas, questions etc on a totally free base without any obligation. In the limits of there knowledge. Encountering a problem after flashing a device is the only responsability of the user. We just try to help. But i prefer to believe that you found a method, still risky, that you need still to test
That said, it seems that there are an increasing number of hermes encountering a problem with the radio part. It seems that stopping a flash at 11% is a symptom of that. See some consolidation of those problems here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349461
I hope you will find a solution for your problem and moreover i hope that none of you bought a hermes second hand with an already radio part problem. If so try always to get your money back...
I AM trying to confirm my method BEFORE i share it, because it might work on mine, and I dont wanna screw anyones hermes up more

Why don't you answer my PMs????
Please tell me your sulotion and let me try that if you have any
I really screwed up.
I wanted to update my phone to the latest Energy version, and during the flashing process, absent-mindedly thinking about continuing the setup sitting at the couch (as opposed to the computer), I detached the phone.
Now, when I turn it on, it just says "Software update failed! Please try again.", but I cannot access the coloured bootloader.
If I try to update again (or even do task29) everything goes fine, till the progress bar appears, which is stuck at 0%.
I've tried running an original HTC firmware img from the card, but then I get the following error:
0028002
NOT ALLOW
Please help!
EDIT: After that, the bootloader appears, so I thought about trying a regular update then. When I do that, the update fails telling me the update file is corrupt.

Hi,
I suppose you can put your HD2 in bootloader mode (three colour screen). If yes do task29 once again but with radio rom eg. 2.10.50.28_2. After that try to install different rom eg. omega, clarity etc.
Did you read my post?
I said it doesn't work. If I try to run task29 or anything, it WAS stuck at 0% endlessly.
I could only get to the bootloader when I tried to update from the card, and that failed too.
Now I can't enter the bootloader nor run any updates (they go to 1%, then report the updater is corrupt).
did u do HSPL?

I already unlocked my phone before.
When I tried updating the original firmware from the card, that cleared the SPL, so now it seems to be the default. But when I tried to run HSPL now I get a wrong device code error.

unlocking is not the same thing as HSPL
updating stock ROM via sdcard will erase HSPL
go to bootloaded useing the volume key + power.
connect to USB and try and install the HSPL.
if it fails, try a different USB port\PC
if it still fails, can u post the text in tri color screen here
Sorry, when I meant "unlock" I meant the SPL thingy. I did not mean the carrier unlock, or whatever the technical term is.
Currently, I cannot access the bootloader at all.
Attempting to update with a freshly downloaded original HTC firmware gets the process stuck at 0%.
I managed to get to the bootloader...
It appears when I insert a card with LEOIMG, but it doesn't run the update from there, and appears to be STUCK at the bootloader (won't even show USB when the cable is connected).
Here's what it currently says:
HX-BC
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x30
Currently, the phone refuses to update the firmware using the LEOIMG from the card (won't even show the question), and any attempt to flash it normally results in the phone being stuck at 0%.
Trying to install HSPL says "incorrect device ID".
Reformat the sd card with fat 32 or exfat put leoimg on there and press & hold volume down while turning phone on. Hope you get it working again....

I just tried this; the phone shows the bootloader and something extra in the corner (I didn't notice what it was) and is now stuck on "Loading...".
EDIT: Trying exFAT didn't reach that point at all. It got stuck on the bootloader saying that the software update failed. FAT32 was the one that got stuck on Loading.
BTW, I hope I'm not just very impatient, but if after 5 minutes it's STILL 0%, then I'd say chances are, something is wrong.
EDIT 2: I fear that trying to update via the card or USB cable just won't work. As such, I pray there's a qualified support in my town, which can handle HTC phones and can brutally flash the software (as I reckon this is the only thing that can be done).

Hopefully it's not a hardware problem.
Find me on skype - pannet7. I can speak Polish.

Well, apparently HTC is rather unpopular in Poland... I found one place in my town (Poznań) where they were willing to give it a shot, but their HTC service technician is on vacation till Monday.
I can use the official warranty method, but that will take about a week, starting Monday as well.
If anyone has any more ideas, I'm all ears.

Same problem here, did you manage to get it working?
Hi,
I have a problem with my HTC HD2, thing is that the phone it's not booting correctly, all i got when i power on the device, it's an emty white screen... without the green HTC letters.
I got installed a cooked ROM, BsB Beast 6.1, with radio 2.12.50.02_2, and i was running Android from SD when all this **** started, two weeks ago. The phone battery ran out while i was on Android, a couple of hours later... i got home and plugged the phone for charging. When i pressed the power button, the phone boots with that blank screen.
I can get into the bootloader, and it's showing this info (whitout the underscores):
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
_____________0x05
_____________0x30
CotullaHSPL
I've tried many different things and none seems to do anything at all:
- First of all, i did a hard reset. The process ends OK but the phone stays doing the same
- Then, i tried to flash again the same ROM i was using. I was unable to do that by using CustomRUU and PC connection. The phone it's detected by the PC, and the bootloader screen shows that it's conneted by "USB". Then, i executed the CustomRUU app, following all the steps and, when the phone should start flashing the progress bar doesn't get past 0%, both the phone display and PC. After a few minutes, CustomRUU gives an error saying "timeout" connection. I've tried to do this from different USB ports and different PCs with the same result.
- After those fails, i tried to flash again the cooked rom from SDCARD. The process ends OK, saying "Update Complete". Then, i rebooted the phone but the blank screen remains the same way. That cooked ROM doesn't have radio.
- After that, i decided to flash a stock ROM. First, i tried to make a "Task 29" to the phone, but i got the same problem than with the cooked ROM. The progress bar doesn't get past 0%. With the stock ROM the problem was the same again. Then, i tried to flash the stock ROM from SDCARD. The process stops at X% saying 0018003 RADIO - FAIL. I've got this error each time i try to flash a ROM with radio or a radio itself.
- I was able to do a "task 29" by using MTTY, but nothing changes when i try to flash any ROM after that.
- i've tried to upgrade my HSPL, by using both HSPL2 and HSPL3. Both programs detects my version of HSPL, then the process starts and ends saying "Succesfully done" but nothing changes in my bootloader, it's still saying that i got 1.42.HSPL
Since i can get to the bootloader, i hope to have any chance to get this device back to life.
I've readed some posts here and within other forums, i've tried with many different cooked or stock ROMS but nothing works
I hope to find help here, thanks in advance and, sorry if my speaking it's not 100% correct
yet another "i was running android and...........now my phone won't boot".. thread. makes me glad i don't bother with android...tried it once and had to hard reset, never touched it since, heh.
for the sticking at 0%,and timeouts etc, try and always enter bootloader yourself, then wait for serial to become usb, and then run customruu. this way you can also visually confirm hspl is there(or not there, depending what you are doing) and it should cure certainly the timeouts.
if i were you, i'd concentrate on getting back to stock, and start over.(only skimmed your post, i'm mobile, so sorry if i say something you already did.)
get into bootloader, get rid of hspl if it s there,(run hspl2 and choose 1.66.0000) then back into bootloader(you should soon get used to holding vol down as each stage completes to reenter bootloader) then try flash your CORRECT stock rom via usb. if that fails try it using the sd card method.
Thanks for answering, samsamuel.
I haven't looked into the Android section for threads with the same problem i got, maybe i should have started that way
Each time I enter the bootloader, i'm doing as you've said (believe me... in these days i've become a "master" on pushing power button with vol. down )
I always wait for the bootloader to finish loading, then i plug the phone to my PC, wait again for "Serial" turns into "USB" and, then, start the flashing process.
I'll try to do what you said with HSPL2, to select 1.66.000. Each time i've tried with different HSPLs, i've selected 1.66.HSPL or 2.08.HSPL... so, i guess i should try with that.
I'll be updating this thread as soon as i got news.
/me edit
I must to say, that Android was running "fine" (some minor problems when trying to wake up the phone, but nothing critical apart from this disaster). By the record, i didn't have installed dual boot... the phone always boots into WinMo
Hi again,
I have tried to update my SPL to 1.66.000 without success, despite what HSPL2 says ("Succesfully done")
Any thought about this? I can't understand why those programs are saying "OK" but are doing nothing
thanks in advance
not seen it first hand but have read several threads where the update seems to work but nothing changes. not really sure as to cause or cure, sorry.
I wonder if is there a way to make HSPL2 / HSPL3 to leave traces or any log of what they are doing... in order to see why my phone is ignoring them
Little bump, looking for more help
Is this the right subforum to post this things?
Help needed.!!!
My phone suddenly started turning off today and did the vibrate then freeze on boot issue on me.. (overheating?? far too quickly)
so i thought ok .. i'll put a stock rom back on 3.14 uk (not actually able to download for my serial number from htc.com but i got it off the forum, original rom was 1.66 i think a few months back)
I did this and it still over heats..so i thought i'll remove hspl and put stock spl on to take it for repair/return sell to cex or something.
i got the 3.14 nbh and renamed in LEOIMG and everything was fine an seemed to be flashing ok..
it was at the red/green/blue screen for ages and the text did display spl.304 rather than hspl.. so i thought..cool..its done.. so i removed the battery and put it back in..
BAD MISTAKE!!
i get these errors issues now:
triangle with software update failed try again when i turn it on
0028022 "not allow" text when i go into bootloader
i cant load a rom because i dont seem to have hspl anymore
i get "upgrade rom coded error try again".. on the coloured screen in boatloader
i get critial error bad spl version when i try to use hspl2/3
when i try to flash with stock rom again i get to 2% then get the errors:
invalid vendor id error 294
then goes to software update failed triangle try again
am i basically f**ked???
Did i remove the battery mid flash during the spl bit?
PLEASE PLEASE HELP WISE PEOPLE!!

****.... tough luck mate....
As long as u got rid of hspl you should be able to get the phone fixed by htc or tmobilie or whatever plan ur on..
Good luck
bought it off ebay..so cant really take it to my provider..the phone is over (just) a year old so probably not in htc warranty? how do i check?
i will donate money to anyones paypal account if they can help fix this
Install the correct stock ROM (the one who match with your S/N) over SD.
how do i know which matches? and how do i do it via sd?

Put in your serial no of your phone (found underneath the battery) into the HTC support website and you will find the ROM that matches your phone. You will then need to download the ROM, extract it and take the .img file out of it and rename it as LEOIMG as before and flash via SD card.
shouldn't even need to use sd card. the correct rom should downgrade the spl over usb.
phone into bootloader, connect usb, run your update .exe, done.
you are guilty of getting over excited and lack of research. five minutes should have told you that you can't use hspl to install 3.14, and that flashing from sd first removes hspl, changes spl, then runs the compatibility tests again and shows exclamation mark if it fails.
I had the same problem i thought i bricked my htc which i was testing before buying i know stupid idea brick the phone before i buy it, basically i had installed hspl 2.08 from 1.42.00 and installed the froyo ROM build which was all good it was working but running really slowly, i couldnt get the ringtone to change which was probably due to the fact that the build did not come with any preinstalled which is fine as i downloaded a ring on mp3 and set it as that, and the radio was one of the latest which wasnt giving me a good reception so i decided, fine that's ok let me get my hands on some apps now so i downloaded a couple tweaks, multiboot and games and put them on my sd card; as well as a tweak to enhance the speed as it was going really slowly on the android, the second i put my sd card into the phone and tried running metamorph an app i was advised to use to apply a windows 7 mobile theme the phone went blank, the only way to get the phone into tri coloured screen mode was to plug it in via the FRONT usb port of my machine which would bring my phone back to life.........oh so i thought, so i was able to see the phone load up to htc white load screen and it would display my buil in red BUT after that it should show the "quietly something something message" and load right.....WRONG the phone just restarted and it would just do the same thing go to htc and restart so i managed to use the vol down+cancel call button to kick it into the tri coloured screen and managed to get the phone back into hspl 1.42.00 which completed but then i still couldnt get past the htc welcome screen!! ARGHH!!! So after spending a whole night applying different hspl's and trying to reflash teh rom via usb and failing i thought id give up and just pay for a bricked phone which i was paying £150 for btw (i know a bargain and brand new!!!) BUT as i came into work today i thought let me try a different pc as that may affect it, and after i downloaded an official ROM update for the phone 1.72 i i plugged my phone in and after literally 20 seconds the bloody thing turned on and started working as normal with no multiboot or rom installed i think i shall be CAREFULLY installing android on the phone one last time. . . . I hope this helped any users out there as i was panicking, and please remember that whatever you do is seriously AT YOUR OWN RISK, do not just jump the gun...sit down do some proper reading and watch some videos because after having to trouble shoot i must say im pretty good at applying roms hahahah i shall be very cautious from now on though. . .. sorry if the post was too long i am a noob my first post!!
yes.. i managed to fix it.. the same way kurt willems above mentioned... i installed the stock voda rom that matched my serial number.. kurt send me you paypal email and i'll bung a few quid in for your help..
gonna swap this phone for the galaxy s... good swap?

im a bit sick of the winmo set up... it's just abit too fiddly with soo many settings to mess with..plus the handset gets hot too quickly recently and turns off, vibrates when i turn it on and freezes... need to get rid before it gets worse.. cant be bothered with the hassle.... besides.. i like the android phones..so ill go back to them...
right im having some real issues now, i decided NOT to mod my phone again, because once my phone started up again i had to insert the simcard so i turned the phone completely off took out the batt and re-inserted the simcard and then it was bricked again (htc welcome screen, then restarts then back to htc welcome screen and repeat) after that i tried another go at installing the hspl again i just took a random version tbh and tried that as mine is factory unlocked uk htc, and then it failed i then took out the battery and notice that the spokes that connect to the metal part of the battery was a bit crooked so i carefully reseated the battery and hey presto its working again ( i can get into the phone home screen etc) so i quickly downloaded the origional spl from theunlockr"dot"co(m)/2010/04/22/how-to-get-the-htc-hd2-back-to-stock/ and installed it and then gave the phone a factory reset and now it seems to be back to how it would be if it was brand new but now im in a dilemma as i dont know which spl to use as well as what rom is best suited for teh spl and radio because i do not want to brick my phone again because if it does i will end up going back to the phone that has lasted me the longest nokia 6200 XD

Firstly you haven't bricked your phone. Bricking your phone means that it is reactive as a brick - it does not switch on.
To get the latest standard ROM, then go to the HTC website for your area, select the ROM you require and enter your phone's serial number. If you are entitled to use that ROM, then it will download. If not then you will get an error message. You may have to select your operator's version of the ROM.

Assuming, from your icons, that the HD2 is locked to O2; therefore you should be able to download the O2 1.72 ROM (no HSPL required) and it will not invalidate your warranty.
nope thats just what tariff i am using. . .Ive been looking around and now im qutie confused i thought the process for having android on the htc was literally
Download a hspl and install - reset
Download a radio and install - reset
Run CLCARD.EXE then HARET.EXE and presto were in android, now unless something has changed is this right because im about to.
Download hspl3 and install - reset
Download radio and install - reset
Download a ROM and install and - reset
now is this the neccessary steps or am i about to mess up my phone again =.=
It would be helpful to know which ROM, RADIO and SPL you already have.
As for running Android, all that is pre-required is that you have the minimum .50 RADIO (it should be specified in the Android ROM's page). Although flashing the newest RADIO (2.15.50.14) won't do any harm.
Although I am with T-Mobile UK, I have the HTC 1.66WWE ROM, 2.15.50.14 RADIO and 1.66HSPL (via HSPL2). I downloaded an Android version and installed it on the SD Card. It works fine. Since I only tried it a couple of times, I can say that it boots and generally works. But I prefer WimMo.

I think I may have bricked my OG HD2 (T8585) while trying to undo everything I had done to it, which was HSPL, MAGLDR and a NAND Android ROM.
It all started when I first tried to flash Kingdom's Sense 3.0 Gingerbread ROM. It told me to create a 340MB partition using HD2 Toolkit which I did. I then flashed the ROM as per the instructions, but it kept getting stuck on the boot logo so I decided to go back all the way to stock WinMo.
I downloaded a stock 1.66 ROM from HTC's website, tried to flash it via USB which failed because I obviously have no ActiveSync in Android. So I loaded the image onto my SD card and tried to flash by holding Vol Down and Power.
That was the first sign of trouble, about 1/10th during upgrade process it gave me some errors and rebooted to a black screen with a silver warning triangle.
Trying to go back into bootloader, I got the message about "upgrade ROM code error."
Since it had reverted back to SPL 1.42 I tried to reflash HSPL2 through USB, which worked fine, got the "We bricked it " message and everything. But then I tried to install MAGLDR and nothing, it fails even though it recognizes the USB connection.
So what can I do? On the one hand my device can accept and load HSPL2 and my computer is recogonizing the USB connection, but other than that nothing, it won't even turn on without being connected to external or USB power.
I also tried installing stock 1.43 ROM and that goes fine, it gives me an okay on everything but it gets stuck in the white HTC bootscreen in a loop.
I know I probably made a huge glaring mistaking to cause this, it's probably because I've bought a Transformer tablet and a Galaxy S2 in the last month so the steps regarding the HD2 were probably a bit of a blur. I guess the stock ROM probably included a radio that I wasn't supposed to flash, causing my device to be bricked.
But is there anyway I can get some type of OS working on this poor HD2 now?
She lives!!!
Okay, I'm not actually sure if the problem is solved but I'm back in WinMo 6.5 for the time being.
Since it had been off for a few hours I tried my luck again, plugged it into the wall and saw that it was stuck in the boot loop again. But I got distracted and left it, and when I came back it was on the orange WinMo setup screen.
Not sure what happened to make it go from not even getting power from the battery to working normally. But I see now my radio version is 2.05 which is massively old, I'm going to try and upgrade that first and see... hopefully it won't go back to being dead the moment I power down.

I had pretty much the same problem as you, but mine is the tmobile us version. I tried flashing back winmo from android via sdcard method but i got an upgrade error. I tried flashing with microSD card sizes 8gb, 16,gb, and then 2gb which was recommended, but still no luck. I managed to connect the hd2 through usb on the tricolor screen and flashed back to hspl2.08 and magldr and cwm were still on. But i would like to still get back to winmo stock as if it came from tmobile.
My question is if i download the latest update from tmobile which is T-Mobile HD2 MR Software (Version 3.14.531.1), what is the correct spl i should have installed on the hd2 so that htc and tmobile wont know that i messed with the spl? is it 3.03? I was going to connect via USB on the tri color screen again, run the EXE and manually install the SPL? I just need to know which SPL to install after i run the latest winmo update. Please advise on the SPL and the method i'm going to take on reverting back to winmo. Thanks.

So it sounds like you lucked out, huh? So your HD2 works at least? I believe if you succesfully flash an official ROM like from T-Mobile, it will replace everything including the SPL back to stock - this is what I was trying to do by flashing official 1.43, to go back to factory mode.
I seem to be worse off than you though. I posted last night how my HD2 was back up running WinMo, but as suspected the moment I rebooted it was back stuck in the boot loop.
Any ideas? I wish I could get the HD2 working again so I could set it aside and get to playing with my new Galaxy S2.
This is driving me crazy now...
I managed to flash HSPL 2.08, and then MAGLDR 1.3, and then CWM recovery on top.
But this still seems bricked to me, still needs external power to turn on and I can't actually flash a working ROM... flashing a ROM via USB gives connection error and flashing via SD card goes fine but gets stuck in a boot loop.
What can I do at this point short of tossing the phone? I've tried stock 1.48, stock 1.66, a bunch of radios from 2.05 to 2.15... everything.
I am doing some research but the only results I find are T-Mo HD2s being bricked by the wrong radio. I have an original HD2 and I never flashed a radio intended for another HD2 model, so how is my phone so bricked all of a sudden?
All the threads I've found say if you can get into the bootloader then there's some hope but I doubt it because I can't successfully flash anything with it. I don't even know how I managed to get back into WinMo briefly last night... think my HD2 is probably just toast.
Okay, I finally solved my problems for sure - bent charging leads in the battery compartment!
Anyone having boot issues, take out your battery and look at the metal leads and you will probably find them bent out of shape. They are incredibly flexible, so just make them straight again and it will work. I assume it cuts external power briefly right before booting into WinMo, which is why it was rebooting constantly.
So I suppose for me this was a huge case of confusion, I got all confused with bootloaders and MAGLDRs when the problem wasn't even software related.

The problem with my hd2 is the CPU is overheating thus causing it to freeze or lock up, and gets it annoying. After hours of searching on XDA, that's what seems to be the problem. I can't even talk on the phone for more than ten minutes or else locks up. So my idea was to get it back to winmo stock and see if it still locks up. If it does then i will probably try to send it back to HTC and see if they send another one maybe or fix it.
Ive had no luck luck flashing back to winmo from sdcard so i think i should try flashing back to winmo via usb on the tri color screen. Ive read on XDA that if you flash winmo via usb that it doesn't replace your SPL, and you have to run HSPL4 and flash it manually. I'm just not sure which SPL i should flash. I'm assuming 3.03 maybe?
What you could try is using an sdcard that is 2gb or less. Ive read that anything higher than 2gb will cause issues. I'm still a noobie at this rooting biz. Hope that helps.

Which model HD2 do you have?
Find and download the stock ROM from this thread, get 1.66 since it will work with HSPL2 which is the latest HSPL that will work with MAGLDR (for Android and WinPhone7).
You can flash that through SD card and it will go back to total stock, including stock SPL. I assume you know how to pull the .nbh file from the ROM you download, so just rename to LEOIMG.nbh and put it on your SD card.
Go into the tri-color screen and it should flash fine and give you factory reset. This is where it wasn't working for me, but not because I had flashed the wrong ROM or something but because I had messed up the charging leads in the back while popping the battery in and out to reboot as I was flashing.
Man I downloaded 1.66 last nite and tried to flash back to winmo from android and its toast. Not sure what went wrong. Oh well.
