I admit I am quite the newb here; this is my first post. While my Alltel Touch Pro is my 5th Pocket PC, it is my first PPC/phone and, like the nervous chump that I am , I'm still using the stock ROM. I don't feel I've learned enough yet to be comfortable installing a cooked ROM but I'm getting there.
I searched the forum here and did not find this, so perhaps it is new. I also searched the wiki and did not find it. If it is old information, or common knowledge, I offer my apologies and a moderator is welcome to lock and/or delete this thread.
When I attempted a hard reset, I misunderstood what the "enter" key was, not realizing it is the center, round button on the phone face. The phone has a full keyboard so when I read "enter" key, I thought it referred to the enter key on the slide-out keyboard.
I don't know how to do a screen-capture so I took a photo instead. When I slid out the keyboard, pressed and held the keyboard "enter" key, the volume down button, and the power button, I did not get the hard reset I expected; I got the following screen stating "Security Unlocked."

Is this stating that the security is unlocked as in I could now flash a cooked ROM w/out installing an unlocker or is this something completely different?
I wasn't sure whether to post this or not as I didn't want to embarrass myself in classic newb fashion. I finally decided to do it anyway, even if it did make me look foolish, in the hope that it might be something new and help the rest of you all (who actually do know what you're doing ) do it better.

Could be considered a newb question depending on how you look at it I guess. I have seen threads with the answer but couldnt find them now.
Basically what that means is..... Nothing. It has nothing to do with being unlocked in the since of custom ROM's. I believe this may be a left over prompt from the GSM bios possibly? Dealing with SIM cards? I dont know. I can tell you that it doesnt mean what it says in regards to Custom ROM's.
Oh but dont feel foolish.... I have seen this asked lots of times. If you were really unlocked your SPL would look like my Sig block.
You won't find much here for your CDMA Touch Pro if you look over at ppcgeeks there is more info. In regards to your unlock question no your device is not unlocked if it was you would see 0.37.CMONEX on your tri colered screen. Here is the link for the unlocker http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42503 and here is the link for the upgrade section http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=68 there are some good roms out there but make to read up on what your doing first.
Its pretty simple one you get past your first flashing, but nerve recking untill you do it. I love XDA for all the development that goes on here but ppcgeeks has more roms for us CDMA users.
Good luck and hope this helps you out, we were all noobs once rember that and ask if you do not know, ill take feeling like a fool over screwing up my phone.
Thanks guys! I appreciate the feedback and the kindness. Too bad it's not an actual unlocker built in to the phone. That would have been convenient.

I saw some moron demanding that ppl work on getting Android to work on Raphael..... what a dumbass..... and I clicked a few links deep from the Wiki mentioned and found this thread:

It was very easy installation, and I am now running Android, have some fun testing for the developers now....
Recommend U all try it!
would you mind posting some screenshots? and if i want to flash it back to WinMo, will there be any problem?

You don't flash your device with it. You essential launch it from file explorer and phone boots into it. A soft reset brings you back to WM.

thx for the quick reply, guess i'll giv it a shot...
You can also press and hold the end call button, and you can choose 'Power Off' but I still end up having to soft-reset, many things are not working, but i'm sure that will all get worked out at some point, wish i could do more for the project than just installing it lol
Mirror Needed.
Can you upload the files needed.
I tried downloading from the site that you posted but I am unable to do so.
Thanks,
This one worked for me, I hit a broken link also
http://connect-utb.com/index.php?op...6:android-for-htc-touch-pro-raph100&Itemid=68
Can mirror if it still doesn't work
Here is a more precise link to install instructions, and a download link:
http://connect-utb.com/index.php?op...id=68&id=16:android-for-htc-touch-pro-raph100
Seems there are multiple builds for Raph100 and Raph800, dont know the difference, here is the global link with download links:
The one at the top is the newest for Raph100, and the one I installed

Can you point us all to a current build that's this easy to install?
very nice work. looking forward to future developments!
The RAPH100 is the GSM version, the RAPH800 is the CDMA version.
The link in my signature guides you to the thread where this is being developed. It's been a bit silent lately though.

This isn't ready for prime time yet. There is a lot of hardware support missing as I write this (e.g. no suspending or powering off, no Bluetooth, WiFi, or anything but plain GSM [GPRS, 3G, etc], no accelerometer, no sound [and no sound I/O in calls, so you can't hear or be heard], no cameras, et cetera).
The lion's share of the problems aren't with Android, they're with providing Linux device drivers for all of the machine's hardware. Android itself seems to work just fine with what devices the Linux kernel gives it!
But in the hopes that this may spark some more creative interest from kernel hackers (*) (as opposed to such comments as 'but why wasn't it ready twenty years ago?'), here are some rough (and fuzzy) screenshots from my Touch Pro:

}
The last two are from the Dev Tool's console application, showing the contents of /proc/cpuinfo (partial) and /proc/interrupts.
(*) I'd love to get involved myself, but my kernel hacking experience is in bigger, heavier devices with fewer radios. (but I'm looking around the kernel sources regardless).

Thanks. I'm not much of an IRC user, though this is A Good Cause. I've checked out the kernel source and had a look through some interesting bits. Went through the memory maps etc on the wiki and realised just what brave souls you guys are (some of this stuff is truly obtuse — but I know the rewards when you finally manage to get some bizarre device working). Having a look at the basics of ARM Assembly now (never had much reason to use it before). I generally have very little free time, but I obsess easily, and I'd really like to have something other than Windows on my Raphael.
(plus, logging into my phone via ssh amuses me — haven't been this amused since the Zaurus)
Hi!
android now have the times tested (Raph100), is a beautiful thing. Will not single network connection. Neither wireless nor USB 3G yet.

Guys, i really need help... Well my phone got a problem... first day using it, and im almost sure i will have an HARD time to exchange, since the seller is a pain, and i bought from internet
there is a small area, above the samsung logo and under the square buttons (contact, message, etc) that dont get touchs. about the "phone" "message" letters, you can see it here :

Well, i searched on the net, and on this forum and got no sucess. i know it seens to be an hardware problem, but at least im asking him, if it could be any kind of software issue, kernell, etc, i really dont know how the amoled display works.
The fact is that i spent all my money, that i took a lot of time to earn, on this phone, that was my dream, and know, on my first day, is becoming my nightmare. any sugestions of what i should try? if worth trying to install custom stuff?
Any help would be apreciated... it seens to be a small area, but just some things thant dont work :
on horizontal : u cant type "dot"
on vertical: cant scroll back the status bar when its down, cant click on "now playing" in music player
All this can be avoided turning the phone, but man, i paid a lot in it...
well, now trying swype, it seens it cant reach the far botton end, where the "dot" is. the screen doesnt seen to be dislocated anyway.. any ideas? please=/
no one had a similar issue, that cant tell me anything except changing phone would fix? im downloading JFD to see i can get something?
maybe kernell, something?
It sounds like the digitizer isn't working properly.
im searching for a screen aligment utility, it could fix my entire problem in a second... if i could move the screen about 2 milimeters up, it would "fix" the entire problem
If you used your credit card to buy it call your bank now and say the seller conducted fraud. Try your hardest to get the payment not to go thru.
I am assuming you bought it used?

i bought in a ebay-like shopping, there isnt mutch i can do, the seller was very honest until now, so i think i will ending get money, or other phone (unfortunaly not an galaxy s, since this was the only he had, and was the phone i wanted all the time)
so what i wish right now, that would avoid me a LOT of headache, was some way to bipass this.
since i dont use swype, using samsung keypad solves another problem. the bar problem isnt mutch anoying, since you can click return to make it go up, well, if the worst happen, and i dont get the money back, i think i will manage to live with it
seens im screwed
There is a chance you could get it exchanged through Samsung. I've heard of people still being able to do that even though they bought it offline. That or, someone correct me if I'm wrong, if you have the good phone insurance through T-Mo, they should be able to replace it. These are just things I've read, so I could be wrong

So, I've been working on getting the new version of CWM that has onscreen controls, a battery meter, and more to work on the TouchPad. So far, I've gotten it to boot, flash, and all that jazz, but the touchscreen still seems to be a WIP. Also, adb seems to be broken atm. Besides that, it seems to be working alright. I kind of want to gauge interest before I go out and fix the bugs/release a build.
Anyways, here are some pictures of the new CWM (and inadvertently me at 5 AM.. no judgements haha).

Notice the on-screen buttons (that don't work, yet...)
Finally, here's the battery meter
If I decide to keep going with this (hell, someone else should, too! I'm sure they could do it better, too heh), I'll start merging in some changes like USB notification and more. So..... any opinions?
larger text to fill the space ? make use of the space
i am afraid that i will make a mess of the setting by touching the screen, anyway thanks~
There's definitely interest. On the Touchpad my recovery of choice is TWRP, but since that's been discontinued and in its current state a little buggy I still use CWM. This would have the best of both worlds.
I'm going to go in the opposite direction of the other suggestion thus far and say shrink the buttons a bit, if possible.
Agreed I am certainly interested, much nicer then having to use the volume buttons....
Well, to finish this, I would have to tear apart TWRP's source hoping they have touch input in their code (the GUI code isn't public). Also, I would probably have to spend a few days bug fixing and actually fixing code instead of just commenting out stuff our device doesn't have (/datadata). It seems like it'd be a bit much, but once again, if more than 4 people say they'd want it, I'd do it haha. I'm just a CS college kid in midterms week so time is decently valuable, I guess heh.
EDIT: I felt bad because I feel like I sounded like I devalued the 4 responders; I don't and hope I didn't come off that way!
I wouldnt mind have a taste of cwm touch.
Is this the version of cwm that TWRP team helped with? (after they dropped their recovery project and started helping cwm's development).
I read they were planning to start help cwm with touch but i didnt see the implementation yet.
What do you think about using 4EXT Recovery instead?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402820
I'm definitely down for this.
CwM certainly does what it was design to do. I've been using it since I got hold of MyTouch3g and Donut. It hasn't changed. That said, it's time for a transformation. I think I read on another forum that there will be some changes to CwM soon. I don't know if you are part of that crew. Anyway, please move forward with this project.
Well I have midterns until next Monday, so I'll be busy, but if you want, I can release an alpha after testing it to see if basic functionality isn't broken? That means it'll have backup/restore, partition wipe, USB mounting, battery status, and zip installation. Anything else needed for an alpha?
Also, our touch screen drivers appear to be userland-based. To the average person, that means they're not in the kernel so I'll have to look into implementing that driver into CWM's source. Once that works, we should be golden. Also, I really want to add features like screen shut off if not touched for a minute or so. That should help with battery usage in CWM, I believe.
Thanks for the support and if you have anything to add/an idea/feature request/help, I'd love to hear it all!

+1 4ext is teh shizza
I think the aesthetics and additional functionality can follow. Getting touch to work with whatever is currently in CwM is more important.
I liked TeamWin's recovery, but since it's currently not being developed... oh well...
I have a fairly stable A0.5 and i don't plan on making any changes other than a kernel update or two. I have some time to test and give feed back.
Just a quick note (I'm currently in class and can't talk too much), but 4ext is closed source. Also, does anyone know if TWRP has been abandoned? As in, they'd probably be alright with open sourcing their GUI? Maybe? Bueller?

Did you use Foxhound for i900 by mistake?
Seriously...
Open app drawer then go to settings and remove the "dots" which are to show running apps.
Also that is TW 4.5 if you search for it you will see the features/bugs etc for it.

You seem annoyed by my question. I apologize for owning my Android for all of 3 weeks and not being an expert on a rom that I just installed last night and not knowing every bug for TW 4.5. I'm sure every Android user that has used TW, including yourself, has made sure to read the bug lists fully before they interact each specific version, and I apologize for not doing that.
My complete lack of knowledge on all things Android is utterly embarrassing as I'm quite sure you had everything down pat after 3 weeks. It makes me feel bad that you had to waste all of 2 minutes of your time to type that suggestion, that actually ended up working. I'm very sorry sir, but thank you for the solution. I will try to improve my Android excellence over the coming years so you will never have to "Seriously..." answer a question on these boards again.

actually. it is an expectation that you read The entire OP before flashing anything or asking questions about it. Because most of the time your answer is already in the OP. and to start a new thread about something that is already answered elsewhere or right in front of your face is kind of ridiculous and creates clutter. If you don't want to read a little before flashing something you shouldn't flash anything at all. This is just some advice so that you can have a good experience around here on XDA.
Cool things to do.

I did read everything on the page of the rom that I flashed and saw absolutely nothing on the subject of red dots appearing over app icons. I also used TW with my stock rom for a couple of days and the dots never appeared either. I also did a forum search for "red dots" and "red dots over icons" as well as numerous google searches and nothing came up.
Honestly if answers to everything on this forum are supposed to be so simple to find (they aren't) and right in your face (they aren't)...then what is the point of this Q&A forum when the veteran members are just going to act annoyed and you're going to get told to "read the threads" (something I already did).
I can't even post in the rom thread since I'm a new member so this was my only option. I guess I will just apologize again for being an Android noob and apparently an XDA forum noob as well.
You can't post in Dev because you need at least 10 posts to do so, something a little reading would have told you and can be easily fixed by posting in the Off Topic forum to get your post count up. Everyone in here is a volunteer and this is not the Help Desk. No one owes you anything, so before you continue sounding like an entitled punk I suggest you count yourself lucky to have gotten the right answer and just move on.

Yet again, I apologize if my issue has already been covered in another thread, but here goes anyway.....
Is there any way to disable to bottom notification-tray or turn it into a separate icon/installed app? The reason I ask, is because it's a constant nuisance the number of times I've inadvertently clicked and opened it whilst in the middle of doing something else, like playing a game or whatever. This can be most annoying if I end up unmounting one of my external SD cards in error or whatever and have to reboot my tablet. I'm sure I'm not the only one this has been an issue for, but I would guess that if there is a solution to this issue, it may be an app that would require ROOT access, but I may be wrong (that happens from time to time <g>).
Any advice or directions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Can't see any dot there......so maybe it isn't on ICS, worse luck. You know I'd upgrade to Jellybean if only I could get my head together enough to figure out making nvflash backups, and unfortunately, I haven't done that yet. Half the problem is I'm a lazy sod, and having to re-root my Prime after upgrading to Jellybean is another PITA......u know the old saying, if it aint broke......
Any other app you can think of that would work on ICS?
On another note, flump, me old mucker, what are you views on GO Launcher EX? Me, I find it to be less of a memory/resource hog than the stock ICS launcher and is much faster to load, 'not responding' MUCH less.

It has to be enabled in Asus customized settings first.

Nvflash is a 5 minute job. After doing that you do not need to go about installing jellybean and then root etc. You just install Hairybean 2.31 which will bring you up to Android 4.2.2 with root included.
To be honest mate these replies take me far longer than you just doing it so if you want me to talk you thru nvflash and installing the latest Hairybean I would rather do that for you over Gtalk than keep answering. lol
Let me know.

Ok buddy, appreciated, all that you said. I guess I'm just a little nervous about this whole nvflash thing in case I screw it up (I'm not the only one, trust me)
To be perfectly honest and frank, I was thinking of waiting until the official release of JB 4.3 (in October, as far as I know) before updating. What do you think?
I just tried installing GTalk, but it was detected as a virus and wouldn't install......WTF?!?!?!?
A special thanks for the pictorial guidance.....I'll check it out a bit later.
YES! It worked! Cheers bro.

There will not be anymore updates from Asus for the Prime. Jellybean 4.1.1 was the last one.
Hairybean 2.31 (4.2.2) is based off the TF300 rom which they are still updating and has nearly identical hardware to us.
I was not talking about an app for gtalk. You just go to google mail on your PC and then add a person to the chat part in the bottom left.
