New to this... - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

Hi there... I bought my T-Mobile Touch Plus from UK a year ago, and have been trying to follow this forum ever since... but have had trouble understanding most of it, due to my limited understand of hardspls, roms, and all that stuff.
The phone has been very disappointing, as I had a much faster and reliable experience on my Magician.
Been to lazy to do anything about it until now...
My phone is still 100% stock standard from T-Mobile UK and its model is a NIKI200.
Can someone tell me what I need to do to make it a half decent phone?
I have also tried to get the official 6.1 OS update... but have been unable to due to my serial number not being right or something. Will it matter if I try upgrading it anyway with those files?
Thanks

1. download the spl files (flash-uspl-niki.zip & sspl-1.16-nike).
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. connect usb cable
4. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)
5. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
6. unplug and replug the usb cable
8. you can now flash the USPL by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki
9. after installing the uspl the phone will reboot
10. after that you can flash the new HTC rom update.
Download the HTC rom update from the following location:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MX5GHOXC

http://rapidshare.de/files/41219609..._Radio_NikeMR_1.65.29.22_signed_Ship.exe.html

THANKS!! I will give it a go!

Seems a lot better now thanks!
Does that take the network unlock away as well?
Can I now try flashing most of the NIKI100 or NIKI200 roms onto it?

Vario II crashed

Hi,
I did the popular mistake, tried to unlock with Universal Unlocker , thinking that this is the staff to unlock all the HTC phones.
Ok. What I have now:
NO GSM - we know that
Tried to install radio roms from here, nothing. I got the information about "Checking the information...." and it is hanging like this.
I made reser and HARD RESET aswell.
I tried to install a lot. Nothing helped.
I had radio ver. 1.05.... I remember that. I have my phone from T-Mobile from UK. I had everything nice, now I have four stripes - RED GREEN BLUE and WHITE and ther is written:
HERM300
IPL-1.01
HERM300
SPL-1.04
Can anybody help me ? I tried to download mtty.exe and put all the commands (not PASTE and it still not working.
Now is 6am in Lisbon. I was sitting all that night and I am finishing writting this post.
Help if you can, regards.
Ben
Have a look on this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280733
It did not help. Where I can get this Qtek rom ? Is that OK for my device ? I have VARIO II from T-Mobile.
I woul like to try instal this - DUMPED English ROM from TMobile Vario II from here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_DumpedRoms
but i dont now how. There are 3 .raw files, how to put them to my phone ?
That solution didnt help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280733
What else I can do ? I was trying with QTEK rom and a got white screen on the phone and 0% on the computer. It was hanging. I tried 5 times. Then I tried to install the Radio Rom from here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
I choosed all of them. Nothing. All of them are hanging on:
Chencking the information on your device... Please wait..
Then there is a screen to update. After long time. So when I press the button is still the same info. Checking the information on your device... Please wait..
And its hanging. When I reset to bootloader again the soft telling me:
This ROM Upgrade Utility does not design for your device.
Please get probper ROM Upgrade Utility and try again!
Where can I get the radio version 1.05 for T-Mobile Vario II ???????????
Is there possibility to download from somewhere ?
Or maybe I should try other solution ?
Read "problem 5" here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeProblems
Yes, I was tying point 5 few times. The problem is, I can connect through mtty.exe without any problems, but after soft reset, I am pressing POWER and OK button and going to bootloader mode again, and when I am trying to flash the extracted radio ROM (i tried all of them = 4) and there is a problem. nothing is working. I am waiting and waiting, and there is only info: Checking your device information or something like that. What can I do ? Sorry for my English guys.
Instead of flashing an extracted radio image try to flash a normal shipped rom (if possible matching your cid). Capture the process using usb monitor to see where exactly it fails and which error you get.
Where can I download

No rom matching your cid is available then, use the TyTN 1.18 rom.

I tried that ROM 2 times, once I plugged with holding camera button and second time without. I made monitor of QTEK rom aswell, because its the one which is changing phone screen from red green blue stripes to completly white. But nothing else is doin...
A attaching logs in zip file below. I have 3 files from each session, I dont know which are correct, 2 of them i saved and 1 is exported.
What do you think ?
I used USB-monitor from http://www.hhdsoftware.com/
very weird... usb seems not working but for what you say bootloader seems to be ok. Are you sure this was after patching the radio with universal unlocker? it seems totally a different problem :-$
I guess you'll have to wait until t-mob releases a ROM matching your CID and then flash it using the hermimg.nbh sd-card flashing method.
You can also try to connect to it via serial, I have no experience on that, but a search on these forums might tell you how...
keep us updated
How long I have to wait ?
Should I go to T-Mobile when I will be back to Scotland and tell them what I did or what ? Did I lose my warranty ? Do you know approximately how much they will charge me for flashing my phone ?
Do I really have no chances to repair it by myself ?

Until t-mobile releases a rom with your cid... it can be today or next year, I don't know.

I don't think you lost the warranty. They usually charge about 100 eur for flashing it back in the service centre. They do it by inserting a diagnostics sd card, but we don't have it for the Hermes

You can try flashing over serial port, and you can try sd-card flashing, but for sd-card flashing you need a rom matching your CID first.
Eureka!!!
Finally I made my device working again!
And I dont have simlock !
After trying everything.... ufffff.
THX !!!!!!
1) I downloaded ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v1.zip
2) Reset my phone in bootloader mode.
3) Plug USB cable.
4) Run HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v1.
5) After 20 min. my phone said ELO to meeeee He did not have simlock when was saying that.
YE YE YE
That was simple. If you have any Hermes radio problem, try that first - HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v1.
Will be more often here, forum seems to be really interesting.
YO!
Yipie
Glad it worked

Flashing advice required

Hi
I recently bought a tg01 in a private sale and it has been flashed with a cooked rom. Most of the time the phone works fine but does suffer from the occasional lockup that requires a switch off to get things running again. One problem that is annoying is I am unable to get the phone to connect to my laptop using either the activesync or mass storage options. When I connect my tg01 to the laptop with a usb cable + mini to micro usb adapter I get no connection at all ? I have tried this on both a windows xp and windows 7 and no connection is possible. I am wondering if flashing back to an original rom from the toshiba website would so;ve this problem for me until a stable cooked rom is available ?
I have downloaded the rom directly from Toshiba's website and it states it is a Orange uk update. Now my tg01 is unlocked and running a o2 sim at the moment, will flashing this image keep the phone unlocked ? I have been told that the phone will remain unlocked but the fact that this upgrade from the Toshiba website states it is a Orange upgrade it worrying me.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
About 90% of the TG01 in this forum (including mine) are Orange Unlocked Sim and no one reported having his phone simlocked after flashing
Try to hard reset your phone if you have activesync issues.
Turn it off, and then press Power+Camera+Vol Up at the same time and follow instructions, or goto settings --> system --> mater clean
Hope this helps
Thanks for your reply.
I guess the big question is what is the best rom currently for people in the uk ?

TMobile ROM to HTC ROM change - info Please!

Hi all
I've had a search through the re-developed ROM's and to be perfectly open, I don't understand much about them.
I recently had a plain HTC HD2 and very happy with it for what I use it for, I don't need any fancy add on's and bits etc, just my Co-pilot and keeping my contacts and notes upto date.
That handset was lost and the insurance didn't have any HD2 replacements in stock. The Desire they sent instead has been sold, and I've purchased a T Mobile version of another HD2.
Is it a simple case of downloading and installing the official HTC ROM for the handset and doing a ROM update?
Apologies if this is a simple query etc!
Cheers, Dennis!
no, no no nonono.
assuming you mean a tmobile us model (1024 rom, green send key) then no, if you flash a non tmous stock rom (any stock rom that isn't for the tmous) onto that phone it will die. brick. dead, because of the ..51.. radio they include.
You may get some cooked roms that are on a base of lower than 2.x, but have been tweaked for the 576ram , and they will work on your phone, but its a very risky game to play.
Far better to follow the two rules..,
only ever flash tmous stock roms,
and
cooked roms that SPECIFICALLY say tmous compatible in the title and post 1 of that roms thread..
Hiya
Samsamuel, thanks for the info there. I'll update with more information! I'm technical, but not with smartphones to the level some of you guys here!
I'm in the UK, and it's a UK TMobile handset that I bought. I've already had the handset 'unlocked' so that I can use my O2 SIM, which is working etc.
From the handset
OS Version - 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87)
Manila Version - 2.5.20121429.0
ROM version - 1.72.110.4 (86525) WWE
ROM date - 04/02/10
Radio Version - 2.07.51.22_2
Protocol version - 15.32.50.07U
So, would it be ok to update to the normal HTC ROM?
Cheers, Dennis!
Ah ok in that case there is no need to mention that it is a t mobile phone, just confuses the issue.
Yes the regular update will work fine once happy is applied.
Thanks once again SamSamuel,
However, what's meant by 'once happy is applied' ?
Is that one of these hacks or special ROM things?
When I do a search, so many results come back containing the word 'happy' I have no idea where or what to look for!
Is there a thread which explains how to apply 'happy'?
Apologies for the vagueness!!
Cheers, Dennis!
lol, thats the android spell correction and me not proof reading before i post. should be HSPL
Hiya
To me, anything that's typed up 'could' potentially be what I need to do! I wouldn't know the difference!!
So, I've had a search for HSPL - I see it mentioned, but alas, I have no clue what it is, where to get it from, what to do with it when I get it!
Is there any straightforward points on what and where to get this HSPL, how to use it ?
I know I can download the HTC official ROM from their website, so that part I think I know what to do as I upgraded my last HD2.
Cheers, Dennis!
ok, hspl. Get HSPL2_RUN.zip from HERE, (you can follow instructions that say hspl or hspl3, theyre all the same, except for what phones they support, , hspl2 is teh most usefull for regular hd2 owners)
phone into bootloader and connect usb, (when you read 'get an active sync connection', , forget that, it doesnt mean actual active sync, just a usb connection)
get hspl2, run it, in the dropdown is a list of spl and hspl versions. if it ends .0000 its stock, if it ends .hspl its,,,,,, hspl.
choose 2.08.hspl, follow the prompts. if it doesnt work, run the hspl prog again, if it still doesnt work (timeout/connection errors) change usb ports and try again. no need to touch teh phone, just leave it in bootloader all the time.
once bootloader says spl 2.08.hspl you are good to go.
BUT
if you are planning to flash the 3.14 rom, , , you can't do it this way.
3.14 wont work on any spl/hspl except 3.03.0000 and there is no way to get 3.03.0000 except goldcard.
Hiya
Samsamuel - seems you're the only one willing to help me here! so I really appreciate it !
I know i've got to do 'things' from what you've said there, but I have no idea on how to do it! - give me some financial IT related stuff I'm good! ask me to do bootloaders and potential goldcard and run files and connect - I'm lost! I don't want to try things in case I 'brick' the handset!
The ROM I want is listed on the HTC downloads section for the HD2. It's dated 25th January 2010
Details are
ROM Version:
Norway:1.66.409.1, Spain :1.66.412.1, Denmark:1.66.403.1, France :1.66.406.1,
Sweden:1.66.413.2, Italy:1.66.408.1, WWE:1.66.405.2, France Bouygues: 1.66.483.0
So, if I somehow manage to do this HSPL thing, will I not be able to install the HTC ROM? I have no idea where or what the '3.14' ROM is?
Apologies for sounding really vague - I've never got into all the modified ROM's and stuff for smartphones. I've only ever needed to switch on, use the phone, install my GPS software and keep my contacts and notes syncronised. I'm just used to the HD2 I had as it was a case of straightforward use. This T mobile version is 'different'!
Anyone else able to help alongside everything SamSamuel has kindly provided so far? please?!!
Cheers, Dennis!
warning
Its best for you if you do not try to update your phone. Either get used to it or just sell it. There are rom update tutorials on this site. Just search for rom update tutorial, if you must try. The official htc software is not for this phone, if you install it, your phone will no longer work, and you wont be able to fix it.
No, its ok so long as you have a regular hd2 locked to t mobile as discussed in earlier posts.
Just to double confirm, if your phone has green send key, then STOP DANGER
But I think we're dealing with white send key, so normal hd2, and the target Tom isn't 3.14
So,,,
assuming white end key.
Phone backed up and off
Press hold keep holding volume down
Tap and release power keep holding volume down
When striped coloured screen appears
Plug in USB
On PC run hspl2
In dropdown choose 2.08.hspl
When it completes and phone starts to reboot immediately hold volume down again to return to stripey screen (bootloader)
When says USB at the bottom and split at top says 2.08.hspl run the .exe you downloaded from HTC
If you get connection errors, timeouts, leave the phone and just swap USB ports. When running hspl.exe right click it and "run as administrator"
(That's the last time I'm gonna write those out in full, there must be 500 identical step by steps and half as many YouTube vids. )
If your send key is green DO NOT DO THIS

Please help me revive me 1 year dead phone!

Hi folks! Please help me! I killed tons of nerves because of this phone!
So here is my sad story. 1 Year ago i bought second hand HTC HD2. Seller told me that phone is locked to T-mobile(Not US one!! UK one!! Transaction was held in UK). After I got phone I rushed home to install Android and I was successful at this point. Then I bought a unlock code from ebay, so I Finally could make phone calls. Then I realized that the only way I can insert code is putting back WM 6.5. And here the worst part starts. I read hundreds of manuals but still was unsuccessful. I downloaded many official WM 6.5 ROM installers but they didn't flash my phone. They just got stuck at 0% and error pops up. I was trying it for a week and then I just raged and put phone to the shelf and was waiting til I get will power to start over again.
I hear that every phone needs its own ROM installer for particular region and operator but I couldn't find UK T-mobile ROM so used many others and it didn't help.
I also heard that by IMEI it is possible to find to what operator the phone is locked(just to check if seller didn't lie me) but again I didn't manage to do so.
Here is my IMEI 354120035834066
Please experts help me, little nooby, with this horrible situation.
thank you
Many people report that you can in fact put the code in under android after all,,,, perhaps its only earlier versions that couldn't. That being said you probably want to put a new one on since it (and magldr) will be old versions.
Anyway, all that hanging at 0% is because there is no hspl installed.
Plenty of places to get tmo stock rom,, go put
3.14 ruu Leo tmo uk
.....into Google. When I just did it the real htc site came up second.
Its not necessary, tho,,
Phone into bootloader,
connect USB
Use hspl4 to set 3.03.hspl
Return to bootloader
Flash any 3.14 rom USING USB,NOT SD CARD
Done.

[Q] HD2 back to stock issue

Despite my best (inexperienced) efforts to get my original windows phone back, I have failed.
A while back I stumbled through converting my phone to Android from Windows 6.5, this is the exact details on my phone currently...
Android Version 2.3.2
Baseband 15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14
Kernel Version [email protected]#26
Build Number Gingerbread HD2 v2.1
I would be ever so grateful if somebody could 1 tell me if it possible to go back to original phone, and 2, how I can go about doing that as i seem to be coming up against walls with what I try, as I said i'm not the best with software.
Many thanks to anyone with the time to advise me.

We'll sometimes it's a combination of bad luck, what you can do is to check the battery points in the phone, sometimes they are bend so they don't make a connection, then I suggegst to power your phone to the battery charger and hold down the volume button that should bring you into bootloader, you can also do this with a sd-card with the original rom on it, then it's not necesarry to charge your phone for 50%, you have to rename the RUU_signed.nbh file into leoimg.nbh and copy that file to your sd-card, then it will ask you directly to update the phone.
Succes

Well i did exactly that, Not only that, tied installing using the RUU which has been downloaded from HTC site...
using the RUU it give me the error ERROR [262] which is
ERROR [262, 276, 284, 302] : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs during the CE ROM code upgrade process.
Solution: If this happens, you can just soft-reset the device and run RUU again. The update process will then continue.
Note: At this stage, the Wince is destroyed; instead, it is in upgrade mode.
While installing from SD card
On the RED GREEN BLUE Screen is
PB8110 HK-BC
SPL-3.03.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x30
Upgrade ROM code error Please Try again
then when it goes to the white screen says Loading...
and it stays like that... anybody has any suggestion for me or did i just brick my phone while trying to get it back to Stock ROM
Try another rom, probably the rom is corrupt.
Succes,
Downloading 9 different ROMS at last found the right one which did flash properly. Thanks for the help.
You must remember when flash via SD you loose the HSPL as first stage of SD flash installs standard spl so loose the CID bypass you had with the HSPL.
Always best try & flash from PC as you have CID bypass & retaining the HSPL is safer & any generic HTC ROM can be used (TMOUS>usa t-mobile should use original WM rom - see htc wiki)
