Alarm problems - S740, S743 General

1) I have used Alarm Master (by Connective Tools) in my previous phone (which was the Orange SPV E650 - sorry I dont know its HTC model name/numer) and I absolutely loved it over the standard alarm that would stop ringing after a few seconds, pretty useless in waking me up.
I have tried to install the latest version of Alarm Master on my Rose but in the phone everytime I try and install it, i get an error saying "Installation of Connective Tools AlarmMaster.CAB was unsuccessful". I then unlocked it from the network and tried again to no avail. Can someone please help as to why it will not install?
Does someone have a better alternative to the standard alarm?
2) I used to use a "looping alarm" (that was in a cab file) that would then get around the problem of the alarm that would stop ringing after a few seconds (when I didnt have Alarm master) so i thought I would try that, and even that does not work, any ideas why or how it can be modified so that it will work in case I cannot get a better alarm from the phone? (I have attached the "Looping Alarm.cab" file)

I simply took the standard "Alarm-Beeps" and put it repeatedly in 1 file (with increasing volume and pauses in between). Now I have an alarm of 1 minute with a sufficiently loud, clear, annoying and enduring sound.
Maybe this works for you too as "alarmclock":
View attachment Alarm-Beeps-1min-inc.zip

I suppose that is a lot better than what is currently present so will use that until I can sort out the Alarm Master problem.
Thanks for your help

HELP!!! PROBLEMS with WM6 Crossbow Underground Edition????

Here's some of the problems that I am having....
1. When using phone, I occasionally cant hang up - whether I use the screen button or the pushbutton - the only thing that lets me end the call is a soft reset. Imagine!!!
2. Yesterday, for no reason, the ringtone for an incoming call played 2x faster than it should have (ie. the speed of the song was doubled)
3. Just after I notice the ringtone song issue, I tried to use voice dial, and the prompts for voice dial were also playing twice as fast, a soft reset seemed to have fixed the problem... lets see if it happens again.
4. After installing WM6 Crossbow Underground, I was having problems not getting ANY calls, so I upgraded the Radio Rom to 2.61.11 and it seemed to work, BUT then I started noticing that I was getting SOME CALLS AND NOT AL CALLS, so I switched back to 2.25.11 Radio Rom
5. Under Regional Settings > Time ...I tried to switch to 24HR mode and using it for a while, I went back in to revert back to the 12HR mode but it wouldn't let me switch back to 12 hour mode.
6. When I touch the screen to Turn ON Flight Mode (shut off the radio), and then touch the screen to Turn OFF the Flight Mode, the dialogue STILL says Turn ON Flight Mode, even though its already ON (it should change to say, Turn OFF Flight Mode).
7. I was just on the phone with someone when a text msg arrived, and it booted me off the call I was on (it hung up).
8. When on a call, I touched the Mute botton on the screen to MUTE the call, but when I tried to UNmute the call it wouldn't let me.
9. Did anyone notice that the SIMPLE LOCK (4 digits) now requires you to click on the unlock button after entering the code? WM5 didn't require this, if you entered the right 4 digits, you were in, without having to press anything else.
10. When I am on a call, and another call comes in (call waiting), I cannot answer or ignore the other call... it doesn't respond to me whether using the touchscreen or the buttons.
And there's MORE that I will post another time.
Any suggestions or solutions, to these problems?
Actually I would recomend you upgrade to Most Beautiful version
I used Underground version, and Office Mobile doesn't work too
Everything is ok here with MB (search with this and you'll find it in piratebay under applications) version
Where is the "Most beautiful edtion"?

[Q] I have several issues with this device - do you have any ideas?

Hi there,
I'm one of the lucky persons who already got their HTC Mozart 7
While I'm really enjoying this device and the features it offers, I wonder how some of the bugs or problems could slip past a decent QA...
I'm currently experiencing these problems (and some more, which are not as frustrating):
I've added my recent experiences in dark red so that you can get my results so far without reading through the thread
The device has to be restarted every 24 hours or so because it just ceases to function. I know it's time for a restart when opening any application (regardless of marketplace, music player, ...) just shows a loading screen and then returns to the main menu.
After getting my replacement Mozart - and not using the alarm application at all - this problem is gone. I can now use it for 4 days straight without the need to reboot or the sound ceasing to function.
The alarm clock is not able to use any 3rd party files. While this alone is no problem, it also misses a decent sound for waking you up. Everybody who possessed a HTC Windows Mobile device might know about those real horror wake up sounds that made you stand up and shut the device up within seconds. Now the new sounds are nice to listen to but those don't really wake you up as effectively... The real fun begins when you lie there for several minutes in some kind of delirium, fighting with yourself whether to stand up or not. The alarm clock simply closes after some (much too few!!) minutes and ASKS you whether you want to sound the alarm again...
My real problem with the alarm clock however is the volume. Normal alarm clocks (I used Windows Mobile in conjunction with GAlarm and I have used Android with several clocks) set the volume to a preconfigured level when sounding the alarm. The Windows Phone alarm clock doesn't... Which makes it effectively mute if you happened to set your phone to mute during the day and having forgotten about it in the evening.
The next problem is that my Bluetooth A2DP Headset (which worked flawlessly on Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5) somehow can't use its buttons. Each button press is simply ignored for whatever reason, forcing me to take out the phone each time I want to accept a call...
I also noticed that the music skips if the battery is running low. If you use a high quality source file (e.g. MP3 at 320 kb/s) which normally plays fine, it starts to skip / scramble every few seconds if the battery is running low. Running low means that the phone is about to display the warning to charge it or has already displayed it.
For some odd reason, I can't search my songs. If you browse your albums / artists / songs then these are sorted alphabetically and you should be able to jump directly to a letter when pressing on the square (just like in the contact view). Well, although my contact view works, pressing any letter here displays the whole alphabet (like in the contacts) but all letters are grey, meaning that there is no song / artist / album starting with this letter. Do I need to state that there in fact are items there that start with a letter?
This problem is purely related to the German language. I set my Mozart to English - just for the purpose of trying - and this feature is there and works perfectly... So just going to Settings and setting the language to English solved this problem. Which somehow makes you wonder how Q&A could miss that.
Do you know any solutions to these problems?

I had the same issue, except that it happened in 3 to 4minutes of use, the phone became unusable... It rebooted itself automatically a li'll bit after that.
Orange gave me a new one, it's now 2week without restarting it and everythings run fine. There must be some kind of memory leaks somewhere...

This is my guess too.
For that reason I have not yet tried to get a replacement (aside from losing all my data currently stored on the phone) - because a new phone will probably have the same memory leak, if it is one at all.
I'm currently waiting for an update which I hope will be released soon (with several newer versions already floating around). However, I do not know whether this will fix the problem...
So does anyone have any hints which application may be causing it?
Or does anyone have ideas regarding the other problems?

Hi all
I have only ever had one "crash" with my HTC 7 Mozart. When it did crash, the phone became totally unstable and I had to reinstall some of my applications.
I believe that the issue may be with the fact that HTC are using microSD memory cards inserted into internal sockets, rather than transflash memory chips soldered onto boards.
WP7 seems to fail dramatically if there are any I/O errors and if an internal MicroSD card is not seated correctly into its socket, this could happen quite often.
I think that is the reason why some users are getting this problem.
So, I've had my phone for a couple of weeks and only the one crash/restart. If you are experiencing any more than that then I think your device is faulty and that you should get a replacement.
Cheers

I really think that it's an hardware problem since I got my replacement.
Ok, but seeing that there currently is no application to backup my SMSes, I'm not willing to get a replacement...
Is there any way (yet) to flash the ROM or reflash it with the same version?
I'm still thinking that it might be a software problem because the phone is working almost perfectly beside the problems mentioned above and several really small issues. If it would be a hardware failure, I think the problems would occur more often - like every few minutes. But they only occur after about 24 hours (of which about 4 to 6 hours are heavy usage)...
Do you experience the other problems (besides the reboot) too?
Well, I never tried the alarm clock, I know it won't be loud enough to be usefull, I don't use any bluetooth handset, my battery is never low.
And I must thank you for browsing the song, I didn't even know that we could do that... It's working fine on my Mozart.
Mines all fine
I've had my Mozart now for quite a few weeks and not had any crashes at all.
My Bluetooth headset (Sony Ericcson DS205) works perfectly something it did not do with my HD2 & win os 6.5.x. I can accept calls, change volume, pause, change songs all with it flawlessly.
My alarm is waking me up fine.

same here mine has been working flawlessly since 1st of november i think i have only switched it off 3 times
never crashed was switched of because i was in church or and my Jabra bluetooth works fine all buttons too
i also need to reboot it all 1 to 2 days.
and the letters in zune are grayed out, too.
but all togheter i'm very satisfied
Well, I gave my device to the shop for repairs.
It should have been back today, but for some odd reason it wasn't...
So I'm still running around with an old Sony Ericsson and am hoping that my Mozart returns soon
I'll keep you posted whether the bug is gone.
(I was satisfied with the phone too, but I'm relying on it as an alarm clock and therefore need it to be 100% stable. The second problem, which made me return it for repairs was that I had three freezes within one day. I don't know how this could happen but it decided to repeat the procedure that it went through on a daily basis within a few hours...)
Hi there,
I got my phone back on Friday (after it should have been back on Wednesday and then on Thurdsday...) - well, better late than never.
But I've been one of the lucky persons to get a device with a stuck pixel (a green dot on black screens)...
However, regarding my initial problems:
- the freeze bug is almost gone (I had to reset it today after using the phone since Friday without a single freeze). This time I guess there is a memory leak - the device was getting slower in the morning and then suddenly denied to open the Zune application (just jumping back to the main menu). However, I can live with a reboot every week or so (if it stays at that).
- the Zune jump-to-letter feature (like press a and get the list of all letters, to jump to a track, album, ...) still does not work.
- I have not heard any sound skipping yet - so this might be solved.
- I decided to use my old mobile phone as an alarm clock (HTC Diamond - I've bought GAlarm for it and would hate to have spent the money for nothing). The freezing bug related to the alarm clock is something I don't want to risk - especially since I rely on my alarm clock to get up in the morning for work... (which might have also caused the 24 hour reboot)
To conclude this:
I could have done without replacing my phone (and losing all my SMSs -.-). Windows Phone 7 seems to have some issues at this moment, especially regarding the alarm clock, which I really hope will be fixed in the near future.
//Small edit:
After setting the device language to English (I'm German and have therefore used German as the device language), the jump-to-letter feature magically started to work in Zune.
I've updated the first post to reflect my results / findings .

Help! Can't stop sound playing.

I flashed the latest iteration of Eclipse, being sure to do a wipe data first. After reinstalling my apps, I rebooted, and the damned phone started playing this ringtone that I don't even use, and it won't stop!! I don't know what app or service is causing it, I've gone in and killed all the likely apps including DSP manager, and it still plays. Even after several reboots. It's driving me nuts! Help!
If this happened to me id simply load something like tasker, (id use the widget from golauncher) and kill everything, then watch what starts up and starts the ringtone
from my X2 roaming the north
Okay, I found the perp. It was Volume Locker, an app I use because I tend to hit the volume buttons a lot without noticing. In this case whenever it started up at boot it would start playing that notification tone -- god knows how it picked that one, because it was so awful I'd never pick it myself -- and simply NOT stop. I killed the process and uninstalled the app, and now the phone is blessedly quiet once again. I still need something to lock in the volume, though ...
try to use advance task manager if the program hangs
works good for me

Lost my phone :(

I've lost my phone and I believe it's in my home somewhere. Looked every place I could think of, but it seems to have just vanished. The phone is on silent, but has an alarm for 7:15 AM, that didn't go off this morning. I've tried installing apps via google's site but only Plan B from Lookout starts on it's own without any activation. That didn't help because all it does is give my gps location.
My question to you guys is, does anyone know of an app that I can install and run to change the volume or something of my phone via the PC? I just need the phone to ring
Sorry if this is the wrong section btw..

[Q] Quick Set of Questions

I've done some searching around, but I'm still a little lost with Windows Phone.
I've unlocked my bootloader, and installed a non-stock ROM. No issues there.
1. I installed Snotify, but it seems like it doesn't mute media sounds, for some reason. Am I confused here, or is there a way to disable media sounds completely? I realize it's not really a notification, so maybe the dev figured it shouldn't be part of the app, but the last thing I need is to accidentally click on something, launch a game, and have my phone blaring some silly song in class. Any suggestions on a quick way to know for sure that the media volume is at 0, even if the "master volume" is at 30/30 (yet muted via Snotify)?
2. Is there any possibility to make the hard buttons light up as a notification? Just a basic blinking every 5-10 seconds, or something like that, would be fine. If not, is there at least a way to make important notifications (phone + text) repeat until acknowledged? Either through vibration, or audibly, whichever is active at the time.
3. Is there any way to do voice calls, or voice searches in Nokia Drive, so that it's easy to make a call or nav while on the road?
Thanks!
