Looks great, thanks for the find!

although wayyyyyyyyyyy more expensive
I'm leaning towrds the Dinovo Mini
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/syllabi/6422A.aspx
it has a dpad
which I read somewhere in the Blackstone accessories forum can be made to work with the HD
Gary

Hi.
I have both these keyboards. The diNovo Mini is used for my HTPC. Works perfectly for that purpose! Haven't tried it for use with WM6.1.
The Brando keyboard is exactly like the keyboard I use for my Touch HD although mine is HP iPAQ-branded. It works great for normal typing. Haven't gotten the 'special keys' to work though...
What I'm really missing is that since this keyboard is Int'l English the Norwegian letters Æ Ø and Å are sadly missing. On a PC it is easy to get the language-layout you want on the keyboard regardless.
Is there a way to achieve the same result with a BT keyboard on a Touch HD (or other Windows Mobile)?

Hi.
Any chance to get this keyboard with a QWERTZ layout? Or is it possible to change the Y/Z-Keys in WM? (Using it as QWERTZ but with a "wrong" caption)

Hi,
I have a Foldable BT Keyboard too, looks very similar, but afaik its the "Freedom Keyboard" labeled from Level1. I bought it in 2007 for another PDA, and now it works with the Touch HD without problems.
One can put 10 Fn-key combinations to the Number-keys (btw the software in the picture seems to be the same like the one i have on the PDA)
greetings

So, could you tell me please if it is possible, to change the key-layout in this software?
Thanks

I've used the Think outside bluetooth keyboard and more recently the I-Go bluetooth keyboard (exact same product , different name). I find it excellent with such a small footprint. I've actually used it as my main desktop keyboard for over a year and a half (I have a pretty Ultra mobile setup).
I wonder though, why the brando has the slot to hold the handset on the far left? I prefer the I-Go's central placement, means you can turn the phone in landscape mode and use it like that for email, msn etc...

I used an Apple BT Aluminium Keyboard with my old TyTN but I am not able to use it with my very new HD. The keyboard is paired with difficoulty but after pairing there is no way to print in Word or even in Mail or SMS. On both devices I had installed the Resco Keyboard (may it give problems ? but why not on TyTN ?). Before I buy the Freedom I would like to know if anybody could give me his suggestion.
Thanks.

Have you tried out the program "AE Keyboard Mapper"?
http://ae.inc.ru/aekmap.php

Thanks Oleander!
AE Keyboard Mapper does the trick as it supports my HP BT Keyboard.
Sadly Norwegian keyboard layout is not supported as a default layout so I have some work ahead of me. Have understood the basics and have remapped the 3 Norwegian letters ÆØÅ æøå to their respective keys on the HW keyboard.
Now this great keyboard will get even more useful!

Hi there
I have the HP ipaq branded version of this keyboard and can't use it with my Touch HD. I'm about to sell it on Ebay - do you have a driver for it? The drivers that came with the keyboard won't install!
Would be great if you could help!
Alternatively, I've seen various pages on the web about getting the Apple small form factor BT keyboard to work on Windows Mobile, but went into a shop today and although the KB paired up fine it wouldn't type. Anyone know anything about this?

Hi. I did not need the drivers for the HP iPAQ keyboard. I just paired the keyboard to my Touch HD and was up and running. Limited functionality though - 'Fn'-key combinations do not work for me with or without drivers. Guess they are iPAQ-specific.
As I mentioned before the AE Keyboard Mapper suggested by Oleander enabled me to get the Norwegian/Danish letters ÆØÅ (and really any layout you might want). You may probably emulate the Fn-key combinations as well if you wanted to.
My approach for installation was this:
-Pressing the BT-key on the keyboard for several seconds so LED lights up (discoverable)
-Search for new BT device on my Touch HD
-Add BT Keyboard from the list of discovered devices and provide numeric key on Touch HD
-Repeat the numeric key on the BT Keyboard, finishing with 'Enter'
-TADAAA, keyboard paired with Touch HD and working great!

I couldn't get the HP keyboard to hook up, but have found another solution - details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486595
Hope this helps someone somewhere!

Hi guys,
I'm very interested in the Brando KB, but I can nowhere see to buy it... Here: http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=03111&dept_id=058&cat_id=0301 its out of stock and somewhere else I didn't found it..... Could you help me? Also I would like to know if I can have the ä,ö,ü (german) on this KB....
Thanks very much!
Greets, cad^^

Don't know about availablility for the keyboard itself I'm afraid, but the aforementioned AE Keyboard Mapper should let you choose any layout and lock any ASCII-char to any HW-key.

I use the stowaway i-go keyboard (branded as dell in my case).
Altough the official website says it doens't support the HTC Touch HD I can confirm it works fine with WM5 drivers.

I also use the stowaway (igo) keyboard. It works great with the Touch HD.
If you use the built in Windows driver (HID) the keyboard works except for all the shortcuts marked in the keyboard. If you install the stowaway driver, then all of the shorcuts will work fine. The stowaway driver however, always cause an error everytime you open up the setting screen. Turn off error reporting in WM will make this dissappear, but not sure what exactly the error was reported.
Also, in Citrix/Remote Desktop, the space key of the keyboard does not seem to work. I'm not sure why. All other keys work fine, so really you cannot type a sentence because the space does not work. In Windows Mobile, no problem like this.

iGo Stowaway Keyboard
I also use this keyboard. I have two questions:
(i) I used the HID profile in advance settings. This created a small logo next to the bluetooth logo. Is this reversable? In other words how do I deactivate the HID profile and return to the default profile?
(ii) how do I get accented characters (often I type in Spanish or FRench?
Thanks

JMes and lie_ui ?
Do you use the black sierra model with the removeable stand or, do you use the older grey model that has the built in stand ?

I finished! Japanese input/display for Titan is complete by OEM package for dcd ROMs!

You can download the OEM to enable Japanese input and display for your Titan here:
http://www.fileshex.com/download.php?file=0eb6e678fe5ad9c9cfd62a37986b54f3
I use for 3.0.1 ROM, just extract OEM and SYS folder to your kitchen, allow it to overwrite
wince.nls and you are ready!
Retains ALL original fonts for interface like CE Star.
Includes new font, Meiryo - Japanese CLEARTYPE font.
Minimal RAM usage by reduce number .dll files installed by SIP.
Bugs -> this thread, and I will address.
Thanks to everyone who help me get started with PPC, and thanks most of all to dcd. Thanks to
Asukal who make original IME files for inspiration and wince.nls file.
Enjoy!
---------------
Update:
Here some screenshots by show you how to use. Also, I add DisableEN.cab from Asukal. It will let
you reduce your number of SIP to just the 4 that I have, which will lower the memory usage on your
phone since your phone won't have to load maybe 10 SIP.
This panel lets you choose between English or Japanese text input. If you want to use hardware
keyboard, just pop open SIP and choose which input you would like to use.
For English input select default (it's highlighted in 1st pic): 英数 EISUU, means ASCII Encoding
For Japanese input hiragana/kanji select top option: かな KANA
For Japanese input katakana select middle option: カナ KANA (You don't need to do this unless
you have a great many katakana words to input and you want to save time!)
The second text that's selected says: 半角 HANKAKU, means "half width" -- Japanese characters
use a combination of 2 english characters encoded together to get all the extended characters.
So, it makes a full width. If you turn HANKAKU off for English, your text will get HUGE, and only
those who have JP support can read it even though it is in English. So, make sure if you type
in English text, your Romaji SIP looks like Picture 1

Now, I only have 4 SIP. Keyboard (Default English), Kensaku (Japanese/English "block recognizer"),
Romaji (Japanese/English Keyboard for Roman letters and Japanese), and Phone Pad, which is HTC's
phone pad from long time ago. New phone pad xT9 won't work because of a conflict about SIP.
Fewer SIP is less memory consumption. You can lower your SIP number by cab file in this post,
DisableEN.cab.
_
Also, I have added EnableEN.cab to add SIP back in case you don't like not having other SIP
available. This way, it won't hurt to try! Make a soft reset if you install DisableEN.cab and do
not use uninstall for that cab. Install EnableEN.cab to get back your SIP, but make a soft
reset after installing that, too.

Update:
I add dictionary program to this post for Japanese. It's in English instead of Japanese by mui
patch file, and it's ready for dictionaries to be loaded on your memory card.
Dictionary program:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=80979&d=1208123286
Go to http://www.japaneselanguagetools.com/PPC.html to download dictionaries.
You will need:
Edict
Enamdict
New Kanjidic
Wordnet 2.0
You will probably want:
Explore his website by http://www.japaneselanguagetools.com/ and learn how to use the software.
Are these fonts for hiragana, katakana, and kanji?
Thanks
Yes, this will allow you input by Japanese language text. It have Meiryo and MS Gothic font for PPC and Meiryo is default because it have cleartype ability. This is OEM, so please cook it in a ROM
Thanks
Very nice program. Love how you type the romaji sound, and it translates it into hiragana/katakana symbol.
One thing that I noticed is that if you start typing in the Romaji keyboard and translate a few characters, and then switch to the regular keyboard, the input will keep translating the characters into symbols when I wanted regular American characters. Also, some of the other symbols get messed, especially the back slashes being replaced by the Yen symbol in other parts of the program, namely Touch Flo and selecting programs for gestures.
Thanks
Backslash does not exist when you install Japanese, so that's one problem that I can't fix right now, I think. The backslash in program paths won't affect the program. It will still run, just looks different.
Don't use regular keyboard with this, just change it between full width kana to half width English input on the Romaji input SIP. (Assuming you want to use hardware keyboard.)
Also, if you need trailing N sound like in SUMIMASEN, press the N key twice at the end to make it change to Hiragana N sound like this: SUMIMASENN
Same for in the middle of words like, "KONNICHIHA" instead of "KONICHIWA" to get correct word input
Very nice. I see. Still not very good with kanji and didn't realize that the kanji below kana was for the english letters. Very slick program. Really enjoying it.
I keep wanting to spell out each letter and really need to spell everything out like it sounds in romaji for hiragana. Ex. Juu (instead of ji yu u).
With katakana, I am using the dash for long vowel sounds. Just want to make sure that is right. I was trying to spell out koohii and was getting ko o hi i (ended up using ko-hi-).
I was trying the kanji out, and figured the icon in the lower right corner under the return button translated a highlighted word. But I know very little kanji, so this will come in useful for practice.
So I guess that if I send a text message in hiragana/katakana, the other person will just recieve gibberish if they don't have this?
Thanks for your wonderful work!
If you send SMS message to someone with Japanese text, they will receive 'jibberish' if they are on your network - like verizon to verizon, but if you are sprint and send message to verizon or like, at&t, message won't even go through. But, if both parties have cook a rom with this in it, and both parties have same carrier like Verizon to Verizon, you can send Japanese messages like that, no problem.
If you type a word in romaji, you will notice it stays underlined until you press enter. So, use hardware keyboard to type out a word like... MUZUKASHII - I-Adjective, means difficult, then press SPACE BAR, and it will convert to kanji. Press space again after convert and you will get special menu options. Type KIGOU and press space twice and you will get 135 new symbols include greek letters.
In katakana, you use dash for vowels like coffee, KO-HI-, but you enter consonant twice like double click, DABURUKURIKKU. Complicated but here is another... NYU-TEKUNOROJI- means New Technology lol.
Excellent work illuminarok! I've added yours to my kitchen and giving the choice between english or japanese. Just testing it now.
Is this portable to any kitchen, or just to DCD's?
Thanks
right now just dcd, but I can make it portable
I am amazed how well the kensaku works. Hadn't even tried it till I reread your initial post.
Also, by default, I remove the transcriber from my ROMs, and it looks like your Disable/Enable cab include it. I just modified my registry using the values you had there. Thanks for that. Now I only have Kensaku, Keyboard, and Romaji SIPs.
One thing I did notice is that when you bring up the selection screen and click on options for Romaji, then click the options button, it brings you to a screen all in Japanese characters and everything changes to Japanese. Same thing if you hit options on Kensaku, but this brings up a screen with an option button. Can't read these screens. Too much kanji.
But again, this is me just messing around with the functionality of the program. So far no bugs or anything.
So how big are we talking about if I turn off Hankaku? I have some friends I would like to send really large messages too
Hmm, odd. No success with getting the additional SIPs active on my kitchen of a cleaned of the Sprint WM 6 ROM. I haven't tried a WM 6.1. I'll play around again when I get more free time.

Yes, it works well. Even Japanese don't know all kanji, so I use it to 'draw' in kanji I don't know to my dictionary. Then I can get meaning instantly! If you are interested, I can maybe upload my 7 million word Windows Mobile English <-> Japanese bidirectional dictionary.
No problem at all
I will post image in initial post that describes what this is for later, I'm not home now^^;
Good!
It's just that if you do this, you will display English text, but others will receive 'jibberish' since they may look like English characters but they aren't! They're actually Japanese encoded English, and that doesn't work well for SMS! Email is fine though, as long as their PC can understand the encoding!

Well, sometimes it doesn't like to overwrite that file, so I do it manually. All you should have to do is bake a ROM using the OEM "as-is" and the wince.nls. Let me know if you keep having problems and I'll upload a whole kitchen later if so.

No, in the kitchen I had removed both removed the original ..\SYS\WinCENLS_WWE directory and then copied your modified over as well as remove that directory and add the modifed wince.nls and its associated *.dms (key changed to match your OEM) to the OEM (my kitchen's goal is to give the option to retain stock settings so the old *.nls was provided into its own OEM). Neither were successful in getting the new SIPs active on the WM 6 kitchen. On both occasions I confirmed that all of the modified files (and not the old wince.nls) were used in the build.
I was a bit rushed and need my phone active for the rest of today. Later I may try from scratch again in case a fluke error was made.

There is no great need for that with WM 6 kitchens already existing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377591
Your OEM and the modifcations could work, but as you said this was working on DCD 3.x.x kitchens, has anyone tried to get the Japanese SIPs working on a WM 6 build?

I'd be interested in the dictionary too... I miss my old Zaurus dictionary...
A translation of the keys would probably help others with this as well. Although, if you're using Japanese input/display, you might not need to.
Kensaku, the ? brings up a note in Japanese as well. Finally found the space. Just had to actually read. Kensaku will recognize english alphabet as well, you just have to be more precise.
Is there a way to have the program just choose what it thinks is a match to your writing, as opposed to having to manually select the character?
Thanks

Touch Pro on the left, Fuze on the right.
(thanks JZ SmartMort for the ref for the pic)
 Notes:
-SOFT RESET YOUR DEVICE WHEN DONE TO FINISH THE INSTALLATION!
-Not anything revolutionary, it just an easy and comfortable way to change the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CWSLayout to the right value, that's all (0 for Touch Pro, 1 for Fuze).
-These CABs are uninstallable (use Settings -> System -> Remove Programs)
-I recommend including it on your UC setup, this way you don't have to worry about installing it every time you flash to a ROM that's not made for your keyboard layout
-Install on your own responsibility

Hacking keyboard values...
So you're changing where the device looks for keyboard map is that correct?
What about changing the actual map it's self? Is there a way to change specific values of each of the keys? The Fuze map for instance doesn't have a control key, and it would be great if you could change one of the other keys, say the right shift key, to act as a control key. Far easier for keyboard short cuts, (ctrl + c & v )
Is there a way to accomplish this by changing a registry value else where? Or change a file map someplace that maps each specific key?
Thanks!

Touch Pro and Fuze have different keyboard layouts. The two CABs allow you to switch between the layouts.
Here is the source of the info: http://www.crunchgear.com/2008/11/12/review-htc-touch-pro-sprint-and-htc-fuze-att/

Noob Needing Help with Keyboard
I have an ATT Fuze that I just updated with [ROMeOS²][ENG][15FEB|READY] v1.81.1 FINAL (20764). My keyboard layout is now messed up and I found this thread without problems. However I cannot figure out how to install the two files contained in the download. I also tried to edit the registry but I do not have a CWSLay option to change. I had absolutely no problems flashing the HardSPL or the ROMeOS rom but this has me stumpped. I have literally spent hours trying to figure this out yesterday and today. I come with hat in hand, shamefully asking for help.
thanks
@[email protected]:
Haven't tried them yet but if they are like other CAB files, you should be able to copy the appropriate CAB to your device Storage or Storage Card. Once copied, you should be able to use File Explorer on your device to click (double-click) the CAB file ... which should trigger the install.
If the install doesn't trigger, it could indicate that your device is preventing unsigned CAB files from being installed.
HTH,
Thanks hilaireg,
I had tried that at the very first and when I double click on the _setup.xml file it goes straight into a text editor. It doesn't even try to install. I also downloaded a program CabviaActive Sync but that didn't work either. When I click on the file FUZEKE~1.00 it says it can't be opened because it is not associated with a program. Believe it or not I have installed other programs and things on my phone in the last 3 weeks or so that I have had the phone but as I said, I'm stumpped.

I think people do not realize how responsive and accurate is the touchpad and that placing any sticker on it does not make it registering at least two finger movements/touches on it any worse. Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045374
First imagine eliminating top 3 rows of the default keyboard with the touchpad for all the letters

including shift and backspace by PS triangle and square. Leaving only word suggestions and optionally some of the default bottom line of the on screen keyboard (as it dynamically changes punctuations to "@"/etc and enter key to "next"/"go"/etc depending on the content and allows other nice to have things but even some of that could be replaced by other PS keys and extra Menu button.
I think PS "X" and "Start" buttons easily remove the need for on screen Enter(Go/Next) but it could be optional to leave it on screen too, "Select" hardware button eliminates the need for on screen switch for numbers/symbols layout and will just pop up that keyboard on screen and vice versa. Therefore other grey buttons of the default on screen keyboard can go too.
If Circle button can be used instead of space bar (I understand that it acts as Back button but SE say that it is actually "Alt" modified one so PS "O" is detectable) we could have that freed up for word suggestion area if applicable. If we choose to leave the two punctuation keys currently to the right and left of the default keyboard's spacebar we would end up having them in the bottom two corners of the screen now but allow PS "Right" and "Left" shoulder buttons activate them too (i.e Right triggers “.”, Left triggers “,” or “@” in email mode, and the entire line between them on the screen would be for word suggestions or anything else we need... or leave empty as game pad and touch pad could replace on screen keyboard in landscape mode if we wanted without any of the soft keys on screen.
Vibration and zoomed in keys popup feedback on screen should stay the same as when using default on screen keyboard still.
I have not even thought about combos of the above with each other like Triangle(aka new Shift) together with Menu...
I understand that touch pad sample code and gingerbread keyboard source are freely available. Don’t know if detection of gamepad slide out state is a problem so that we can have keyboard switching to touchpad from onscreen automatically – hopefully it is part of the touchpad source or maybe “alt” key modifier. If someone makes it open source so that more people can contribute to and benefit from it. I will also be happy to donate some money for that.

Get Swype. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache and finger pain.
Just a heads up to whoever wants to do this. I haven't had the best experiences with the whole bounty thing. You have to contact each person manually (and sound like an asshole/debt collector) and have many people ignore you or deny paying altogether. If you're going to set up a bounty, let one trustworthy person hold the money or something.
and @zerojay, how long did it take you to get used to swype? I've used the tap-like keyboard for years, and I can't get used to the swype thing. I end up moving slower then tapping.
I got used to Swype instantly. When I sold my Galaxy S I was worried because in those times, Swype had to come bundled with the phone. Now that it's an open beta I can use it anywhere... it really does a world of good.
I got swype but it felt a little slow. So anyway I found smart keyboard pro and it is very good.
Swype took very little time to get used to. At first, I was worried about highlighting all the correct letters and all that and started really slow. Once I learned to stop thinking about where the path for letters should be traced and just DID it, I was nailing all sorts of long words with far greater speed. I can Swype almost as fast as I type at a full-sized keyboard now.
Something like the touchpads being used for it - while not a bad idea - just wouldn't work out in practice.

I tried Swype but could not get used to it. Having said it I am totally for other types of keyboards to be modded to use touch pad instead of the screen. Currently on screen keyboards occupy most of the screan in landscape - I want to free the screen space by moving keys to the touchpad and gamepad buttons.
I love swype too
Unfortunately it gets harder to use the drunker you get....

Hi Bin4ry,
I was hoping someone skilled just mods touchpad inclusion into the existing default keyboard to start with - same way they modded things in the following thread using available default android gingerbread keyboard open source from Google: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169114

That damn smiley key was driving me insane, so I got the Gingerbread keyboard source from AOSP, got it to compile, and got rid of the smiley face button. Other than that, it's identical to the stock Android gingerbread keyboard, so requires 2.3+. Eventually I may figure out how to make it able to be turned on and off, but that would rather defeat the point. Enjoy!
(Note: you have to enable it in the Keyboard settings before you can use it, just like any other keyboard.)

So not writing it from scratch but reusing source from AOSP and Sony Ericsson example.

Yes this would be the most intelligent. Since you have not to write all basics again, but i don't have enough freetime for such a project sorry!
Since SE gives you enough samplecode it shouldn't be this hard to get it in a basic working. OFC there will be much to tweak etc, but a Proof-of-Concept should be easy!
So go ahead and start coding
Download eclipse and the sample project of Android Keyboard, then take some Tape and glue it all together with SE sources -> Done

finding a better keyboard for the TrueSmart

Hi guys,
Now that I've put the Imperium Operative installed, the fleksy keyboard is gone. I've thought about downloading it again, but wonder: are there better keyboards out there? In my ideal keyboard I could just draw each letter on the entire screen, like on old Palm devices.

There is a version of graffiti for android, but like the old palm it requires your strokes in the input area. Full screen writing may have been added much later in my Palm days
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.access_company.graffiti&hl=en
Time with the similar MotoACTV introduced me to the Flit keyboard. It has some neat transparency options and provides great accuracy on small screen devices.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.locnet.flitkeyboard&hl=en
Currently I use the paid version of swype with the xposed module that replaces dragon dictate with google voice. I find the touchscreen's sensitivity leads to a lot of false inputs when pecking, but great word swiping accuracy.

Maybe Minuum
Payed app, on sale now. I dont believe links are allowed, so I skip linking.
I have no TS yet, but the keyboard works well for English on other smallscreen devices I have tried it on.
Daniel Ortiz recommended it for the TS too.

Flesky is not gone. "Backs up all changes into a "Removed" folder on internal storage"
I do agree with you about Graffiti though. Graffiti for Android is close but would be better if the input area was transparent as screen space is pretty critical with such a small screen.

I backed Minuum on Indiegogo and I use it as my main keyboard on the Truesmart.
It has a few issues with the settings (I can't figure out how to enable some of the new features...I think it may have a dpi issue that is keeping me from getting to the last step in their "enable minuum" screen, now that I think about it; I should try that xposed thing), but works very well in my opinion other than not having swiping input. The "precision entry" mode that it defaults to using for things like usernames, urls, and passwords takes up almost the entire screen; I find it better to switch back to the linear mode and use long presses to select the exact characters I want. But in that mode, it's the one thing I've seen that takes less space than Fleksy.
EDIT: Okay, I just checked out the Flit keyboard mentioned above. With its first keyboard set to the small qwerty and second set to small numbers (and no suggestion dictionary), it takes up less space than Minuum (by about the space Minuum uses for the suggestion area, shift, and backspace). That's enough to get me to try Flit for a while and see if I like it better. So for anyone looking for absolute least space consumed (ignoring the possibility of transparent keyboards that don't reserve screen space), Flit looks like a good option.
I actually have been using SwiftKey on mine, and it works reasonably well.
The predictions are a huge help.
JM2C
Great. Now it looks like I'm following you around.
I use swiftkey a well. I've been using swiftkey on my devices so long (Android BBQ 2012 I think) that prediction has gotten to the point were entire emails are written using only the first letter of every word.
About the only thing that might compete is Minimium but the smartwatch version has not been released yet.
I agree that minuum is shaping up be a good competitor. I have no use for Fleksy at all.

already contact minuum developers to check this defect and the answer that they have a special version for smart watches and they ask me to send them an e-mail which i have done but their email address has an error which is not delivered i sent them again via FB but no answer received due date
The "swype-ish" Google Keyboard from the play store has been working well for me -- it would be perfect for me if it could be made transparent...
I actually like the perfect keyboard in t9 mode mostly because it has bigger buttons for my fingers. Since I don't expect to be typing a novel just short messages and mostly receive notifications and perhaps using for my checkbook app, the t9 format of keys works for me.

Minuum is preparing a smartwatch version, described on their blog: http://minuum.com/blog/
You can get a version by emailing them: [email protected]
The smart watch version is a modified 1.2.5b. The only difference in functionality I saw was that you do not have to use Xposed per-app-settings to login and that space was not enabled by default.
Expanded keyboard also have letters that you can read, but so has the just released 2.0. I will probably use 2.0, it has the cursor bonus panel and more.
A quote from the person answering me: "We are hoping to get Minuum pre-loaded on future versions of the TrueSmart and all feedback is helpful."
Good that there are alternatives.
I used the Fleksy keyboard for a bit and it seemed okay. I liked some of the things I could do on there, but I really like Swype, the paid version, much more. Even when "pecking," I can still type pretty accurately. This is especially because of how it learns from your typing habits, and since I have it linked to my Gmail account and I use Swype on my phone too, it recognizes the three words/symbols I'm likely to use after a certain word. I also like to use Swype too, or Dragon Voice. And I actually prefer Dragon Voice over Google Voice because Dragon Voice lets you pause in the middle, think a bit, and continue on. As far as I know, Google Voice doesn't let you do that.
This app makes it really convenient when you have to factory reset a device or you're going into a new device. Once you register Swype with your Gmail again, you have access to all the words you saved. I love this because I hate typing out my email addresses over and over again, when I'm used to typing in just three letters and being able to find it in the predictions.
Tried the Minuum Keyboard on Truesmart
Just started trying the Minuum keyboard and I like it better than what I was using which was the perfect keyboard. It uses much less space in linear mode and responds pretty well with the gesture selection mode of use. Just started using it and adjusted the font size using the settings as well as the Big Font app for adjusting font size across apps. Works very well as far as I have played with it and don't have any problems with the setup or usage. Will play with it more and see if I have any other comments soon.

I'm back on Minuum myself instead of Flit now. With the settings as I currently have them (being able to get to the settings helps a lot!), in linear mode with the extra toolbar showing but the spacebar hidden, it ties Flit for the least screen space taken of everything I've tried, but it's still just as fast to type with so far (even when I need to press and drag for precision) and if I turn off the extra bar temporarily, naturally it gets even smaller.
I'm experimenting with Super Keyboard Free right now. It has a few features I like... The t9 entry works as I expect it to... press once for m, 2 times for n, etc. You can force to fullscreen entry in portrait orientation, and you can configure the height of the rows of keys.
Don't know if I'll like it for the long term. Some keyboards that start promising end up annoying me. It takes forever to enter anything, but since I only use the keyboard to log into accounts, the amount of time it takes to enter stuff is made up for by the fact that I can type my passwords on the first try.

Perfect Keyboard with T9 layout work well
2nd for Flit keyboard (with 1st set to letters, 2nd to numbers). Was the first thing I installed coming from the Motoactv.
I have been playing with Swiftkey (my hands down fav on regular devices) and the fleksy one.
Wish fleksy had better predictions. swiping with swiftkey works surprisingly well, but it takes up a lot of the screen
Flit Keyboard is very good choice, is very small (in 1 row mode), uses only 1/3 screen and has big buttons. Thank you for tip

[FREE TRIAL APP] DOSBox emulator

Hi guys, I'd like to introduce a DOSBox emulator port for Windows Phone 8.1 & up.
I developed this app more than half an year ago but final release "polishing" was on hold because of many reasons. However, I think that the app "as is" (btw, it's works and works fine!) published in the store is much better than no app at all so I decided to publish it
What is the "DOSBox" and how to use it, you may read on the official website; shortly: you can run good old DOS games (or other apps!), built for x86 CPU, on your Windows Phone.
Screenshots:
Classic Sierra's quests are working fine; Wolf 3D (for DOS) also playable. He-he, you can run Windows 3.1 on your phone too
I recommend to use Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to work with emulator. Camera button toggles "turbo-mode" of emulator (sometime is very useful), you can change this binding in settings. WP standard "back" key bound to the keyboard "Esc".
BTW, app has virtual keyboard and joystick; mouse is emulated via touch screen. Now mouse emulation has two modes, absolute and relative.
absolute mouse mode: moves mouse pointer on virtual screen and emulates left button click by phone screen tap. Very simple but still useful in some old DOS games and definitely in DOS programs working in the text mode.
relative mouse mode: to move mouse pointer, touch & hold phone screen and move your finger; mouse should move relative to your finger movements. To emulate left mouse click - tap the screen, double-click - double-tap. To emulate right mouse click, hold & release finger. To move mouse with left mouse button pressed - hold for a little and start moving your finger on the screen. So, this mode simulates (at least, is trying too) a standard notebook touch-pad behavior
How to work with the app:
install app
connect phone to PC
create folder dosbox (or whatever) on the phone or sd-card memory. On W10M you may create folder at the root; on WP8.1 create your folder inside any public folders (Pictures, Documents etc.)
launch the app and choose folder; after synchronization it will be your virtual drive "c:". Later, you need to synchronize this folder manually after adding or deleting apps & data.
If you don't want to use PC, I strongly recommend you to use "Total Commander" app! You can easily open and unpack archives with old DOS games and programs to your virtual "drive c:" folder.
Currently, "DOSBox" don't support Continuum ('cause it's a WP8.1 UWP, not W10M app), but you are still able to see old DOS stuff on the large screen (thanks @dxdy for the instruction!)
first connect to DD (Display Dock) or Miracast. now on TV show normal Continuum desktop.
now in Continuum app on phone or from Continuum desktop or phone select display settings. select "Connected display" if not. on bottom of display settings select "Advanced settings"
select "Mirror what's on my device" (but don't use back arrow for close!!! just select Mirror option and don't touch anything for now)
now on TV screen display change from Continuum to phone screen
if not change disconnect and reconnect USB cable
if changed press windows key to back to start screen
Now on TV screen show mirrored phone screen!
If you want switch back repeat all and select "Use different apps on each screen"
If you experiencing problems with mouse movements (mouse movements in the game are limited to some part of the screen, you can't move mouse to the lower right corner), please try this workaround found by @rcmolina: download Microsoft's mouse driver for DOS (mouse.exe) and run it before game (or add to autoexec section of dosbox.conf).
App become paid now ($1.99) but still has a free trial version, with some functionality limitation.

URL for Windows Phone 8.1: http://windowsphone.com/s?appid=ab937773-d667-43df-984e-1237fc28e860
Enjoy, and "have a nice DOS"
"Esc" Key
I miss the ESC Key in the on-screen control. There are a lot of DOS games that used that key to "escape" the game or to go to the configuration screen.
In any case, the application is great. I've been able to play some old dos games .
"Esc" key is already bound to the standard WP back key (back arrow), especially because of this key importance in the old DOS games
Can we mount and boot OS images?
NC Commander... few days ago i find it on old disk
any chance for better mouse support in game? is working but not very good... in Warcraft 2 in game mouse move (work) only in 25% area (top left area of screen)
@dxdy, it's a really hard to properly emulate mouse via touch screen. I did some tricks but maybe not properly (already saw Android's DosBox Turbo code but it won't work properly on WP). For now, I may recommend you to use BT mini-mouse or mini-touchpad - it will work good (already tried).
Thx but not ask for mouse via touch, ask for bt mouse
Hmm, you are really confused me, man Before your post I believed on 100% that the real mouse should work absolutely fine (actually, I've tested it on Win3.1, Win95, Win98 and some games and have no problems at all).
Looks like a Warcraft 2 have some different mouse handling... Could you please PM me a link to your your zipped files or image to test?
P.S. BTW, you don't need to send me a files: I've found, installed and tested WC2; can confirm, mouse isn't working properly... As for me it looks like badly supported SVGA mode. I've added issue to my list but now (sorry) have a couple more important issues to fix.
no problem is not important... can be on last place of bucket list to fix it
if anyone want try, ISO and RIP version are available on www.myabandonware.com
notice for rip version: rename long folder name to "war2", also if you use some other folders tree, change settings in war2.ini file
problem
lumia 640XL windows 10mobile mouse touchpad not work correctly (settlers2)...
@tynyczech, what is the touchpad model (or what do you mean by "mouse touchpad" - phone's screen?). Please be more specific - what does it mean "correctly"?
Sorry, I don't have time to test specific games (there are lot of games for DOS!), I'm very busy with programming.
"Good news, everyone!" (c) Professor Farnsworth
@dxdy, I've fixed your issue with dirty but (I hope so) quick and effective hack; new version already on the certification (version 1.3.0) He-he, probably you'll need no bt mouse anymore to play WC2
Also fixed bt keyboard bug (code was ruined somehow), now it works pretty fine except tab key, I should press twice
P.S. And thank you for donation! However it's not absolutely necessarily: I'm glad to help my good old xda friends and industry enthusiasts
no problem, beer (money) is not a donation
edit:
updated and new version work great! mouse working fine
@dxdy, could you please try to play without mouse (using just a touch screen)? As for me, it works fine but I don't know how to play WC (I was a doom, quake, qII, arena player only)

touch working in game but must play with mouse because in 1995. touch screen commands was SciFi, is much easier to contrl and give commands with mouse. only no sound in game (for example Warcraft 1 have sound)
btw, on old WM 2003/2005, Warcraft 2 was ported (Wargus) and worked fine with touch (pen)...
I downloaded Warcraft 2 demo here; after installing game and configuring sound card, I'm getting sound (or maybe music only?) in game, and emulated mouse is working fine at least on the game menu
P.S. BTW, I've committed another small update: now you can import/export your dosbox.conf file (and have many configs for experiments!), and see actual app version on the settings page.
Today is a really good day, I do have another great news!
I fixed very weird M$ bug on copying large (>1GB) files (StorageFile::CopyAsync always fails on copying large - 1GB or more - files). Google knows nothing about chunked file copying on C++/CX & PPL and I had a hard time (definitely don't like unresolved issues). But today I was lucky and found a great workaround
So, now you can copy and mount large hdd images with a lot of pre-installed good old games (I believe, size is limited by your phone memory or sd-card free space only ). But please use for copying and mounting large files "mount images" option from menu only! I didn't touch home folder synchronization code for now.
Also added some small but useful changes. So please try new version 1.4.0 and tell me how it goes
today i will try setup, not rip version..
