How to disable Bluetooth's Phone Book Access Profile? - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

Hi folks, my car's flunky bluetooth kit flakes out when downloading the my touch pro's contacts. If I empty out the contacts list on the phone, the car's bluetooth kit works fine.
So, one way to prevent the contacts to download to the car is to disable PBAP profile. Is there a reg key or tool to do that?
ATT's Fuze version of activesync won't let me sync by category (the option is disabled), so I can't just reduce the number of contacts downloaded.
I've searched the wiki and googled it, no joy.
Cheers, and Thanks!

If i'm not mistaken, it was Bluetooth SIM Access Profile (BTSAP) which u can disable it in many ways.
Maybe u can prevent the boot call by deleting this key.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init]
"Launch99"="SAPSettings.exe"

I tried this and no joy. This only turns off the SIM Access Profile (SAP) which btw can also be turned off with the Bluetooth manager on the phone.
Anybody have luck with reg keys/tools?

disable communication functions

Hello, i'm new in this forum. I have the following problem: I have to install a MDA II on a PC in our company, but for security reasons i have to disable all communication functions like blue tooth and internet before doing this.
Is this possible? How can I do this?
greetings,
xda-developer
If it's for security reasons then don't connect to the PC.
Other wise how secure will it be. If you hack the registry for bluetooth and take out the sim for phone (to inhibit internet access) then that person can put in a SDIO with WIFI or Bluetooth an yet has communication oppertunities again. Or he can put in another SIM so the phone is up again.
Most of above is also valid if you would give that person a plain PocketPC.
Regards,
Mark
if you disable phone and bluetooth then why get a xda2 at all ?
@markutah
thank you for your answer. I have to connect the MDA for synchronizing email and contacts with Outlook. Although Internet and Bluetooth have to be deactivated, the phone-function must still be available.
I thought of deinstalling or hiding the Internet Explorer in the registry (the user isn't skilled enaugh to modify the registry to turn on again). Unfortunately, I have no idea for doing this. And I have no idea how I could disable bluetooth.
@Rudegar
A user (the chief of our company) have bought a MDA II from T-Mobile (and he really don't care about our security policies). I'm not allowed to change or ignore these policies, but on the other hand I have to connect the MDA to the PC. :?
I think Internet is easy: In the connection profiles on the Proxy settings tab uncheck "this network connects to the internet".
This must be done for both work and internet profile.
But for bluetooth? I can't help you. Maybe a little bit stupid but instruct him not to turn bluetooth on would I say.
Mark
how will se be syncing with outlook ?
if by usb then no problem
about bluetooth then there are some posts in the forums if you search where people give the registry values you have to change to disable bluetooth and remove the icons (of cause by reversing those changest he could turn it back on unless you remove it by hammer and screwdriver )
about grps then you can just delete the settings in
settings connections -> connections and remove the extry's regarding grps
of cause if he want he could just type them back in
but another way is to get the phone company to block grps
on most cellphone company's it's not enabled as default and you have to ask them to turn it on, so i asume you could ask them to turn it off
the buttomline is that you can make anything 100% secure
Thank you all very much. The MDA is connected to our network now.

2- Sometimes in the response is bad and the interface appears after a long time.
Sorry have no solution. Had sometimes the same problem.

to 1.)
when i go to settings - bt settings it shows me the widcomm bt settings, but not the ms settings (i have both, widcomm and ms bt) i also deleted the widcomm bt from the startup folder, so theres only one bt driver loaded,...
edit: oh no, my fault, its not the widcomm settings, its the ms ****, with bt beam authentication, active sync setup and serial port setup , i know there was another bt settings where i could enable and disable it, but where is it?
the one with activesync bluetooth and..........
is in system->system
the one with turning on and off and bonding devices is in
system->connections
there is only one bt icon in connections, and thats the one for widcomm's

Switch profile when put in USB Headset

Hi,
it is possible to make a profile and WM switch automatically an this profile when i put in the usb headset?
Thank you for your hepl!
you need a 3rd party software for that. SPB phone suite can do if for sure. sbsh phoneweaver and phonealarm- maybe, havent tried
No phonealarm or phone suite can't it. I have just tested.
I looked at phoneweaver 1.0 and it only has triggers based on calendar entries (agenda), time, external power & active sync connection. No headset connection I'm afraid.
Any other suggestions?
Cheers, Oggy.
Nobody ideas?
Thanks!

Internet Calling tab not showing

Hello All,
Latest Stock OEM ROM from U S Cellular/HTC site,
FYI: I do not have a data plan on this phone.
Been trying to get seamless sip/voip working on my new to me US Cellular HTC Touch Pro CDMA. I can get this phone to work via asterisk box by installing Raphael_voip, and Setup_voip cabs. The audio does come though the earpiece as expected but when checking voiecmails for example the connection drops at the same point each time, with never getting to listen to voicemails. I can however connect to an ip 'hardphone' and audio is perfect both ways. Something is not quite right with nat/sip traversal I am sure. I tried fring and aegphone as well and it appears they use the same sip stack, that is native to WM6.1.
I'm sure this has been hashed a zillion times but does anyone have an 'out of the box' working ROM with good sip/voip integrated.?
I can never get the 'Internet Calling" tab to show up in the phone sub catagory on this phone. I have went into the Today options, disabled TouchFlow and enabled Internet Calling, and the check mark sticks, but simply never get the Internet Calling" tab as an option?
I see in the Windows directory there is an Voip_call_16.dll file. I have never seen a reference to this anywhere,in the WinMo6.1 forums? Also nativly this phone does not ROM in with the required 4 voip files;
dnsapi.dll
rtcdll.dll
ipdialplan.xml
voipphonecanvas.dll
Wonder if anyone knows what the registry key is that sets this? I m geussing without this showing up natively,it simply will not work as expected.
Adding. When this phone registers to my Asterisk server it is in fact showing as a peer, but shows unreachable. Strange is that I can get audio both ways between this phone and a soft or hard phone,,,but I am sure something is not negotiating as it should. Example.Retreiving voicemails always fails at the exact same point. I'm not sure if it is in fact the sip stack,or something dodgey in the actual network stack of WinMo6.1?
Ideas?
Thanks,
Barry
I've felt that pain
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618486
The registry key that enables Internet Calling is listed there. There also is an issue with the way MS authentication, so that may be your voicemail issue. If you check your logs on your Asterisk server are you getting auth failed errors?

[Q] Remove default GPRS network

Hi All
I have an ex T-Mobile HTC HD2 running windows 6.5 and connected to O2.
Mostly everything works fine except . . . . .
When I try to download an MMS message the phone tries to use the T-Mobile network and as this is not set up, it doesn;t work.
It tries to use t-Mobile even when connected to wifi
I have tried getting onto the network manager but all the T-Mobile settings are greyed out. and there is no option to delete the entry (edit, press and hold gives no options).
Network manager is set to use O2 (Connect to internet and Private network)
So, please, how do I get rig of T-Mobile and default to O2.
I presume it some registry hack?
TFAI
Try downloading & install this connection settings tool by HTC >
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=565785&d=1302516709
Once installed it will have a shortcut link in Settings, Connections, Connection Setup
Run it & choose country 'UK' & network provider 'O2' *be sure choose postpay or prepay*
It should load all setting including MMS.
If have issues post back for more help.
Another good option would be debranding your HD2 with either standard generic HTC ROM or Custom ROM such as Energy, links can be found in HD2 Wiki > http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD2#ROM_Development
Thanks for that.
Sadly not a huge success. cab downloaded and installed.
Run, reset, set up connection, reset etc
Eventually Settings, Connections, Connection Setup select O2 postpay and another restart just in case
Then
Wireless Controls, Data Connection, but it wont conect. (Slider wont go green)
Wifi Conection greyed out.
Total mess.
Back to Conection Setup and check but its set to UK, O2 postpay
I have Data Controller installed but that allows all O2 (MMS postpay and mobile web)
At least I could access the www before
How do I get out of this mess
TFAI
I would try removing data controller as that has some known issues of messing up the connection settings in registry.
I use GB-SOFT GPRS UMTS tweak which auto disconnects gprs when not used (set time to zero).
So in review >
remove Data controller & soft reset
Go into Settings>Connections>Connections>select 'manage existing connections' & delete any settings remaining
re-run Connection Setup & see if works !
I've never had trouble on provider roms such as T-Mobile so assume will be messy registry problem.
If no joy, post again & I will try dig up a guide & settings for O2 for manually trying input GPRS & MMS.
Good fix would be Custom WM6.5.5 such as one in my signature.
hhhmmm struggling. I can find no sensible way of uninstalling the Data controller. There is no entry on the list of programs to uninstall and I cant identify a directory.
There is a shortcut that points to \Windows\DataController.exe but is removing the program enough?
Good news is that I can Wireless stuff now works (My fault, I had forgotten they dont work when usb is connected to PC) So the only problem is MMS. Mor efiddling around, reran the HTC thing. Deleted an old connection and reboote a couple of times and eventually it worked.
And they call this a science!!
Thanks for you help
^ So is MMS now working !
If not I will post a manual MMS settings guide I have for WM6.5 somewhere.
Just removing the datacontroller.exe wouldn't be enough really, what really wanted is registry for it removed.
From your comments sounds like was mainly dirty connection settings in registry.
Data & MMS connections can be bit of a pain in WM6.5 but once learned manually or if the htc connections settings tool works perfectly they are better than android or iphone for flexibility & control.
