If you have a CDMA phone you have an ESN number instead of an IMEI.

what kind of carrier? i think its the MEID DEC number on the back is your ESN
do you need the unlock code? you can get it pretty quick with putty and no other software.
My esn number is clearly marked under phone info. So this is instead of an imei then?
yes... IMEI is for GSM only... ESN is for CDMA
Im in America and I have Sprint I am using a HTC Touch Pro CDMA phone if anyne can help me with knowing which number is my ESN # and how to unlock my phone that would be wonderful

Hi there I currently own a Sprint HTC Touch Pro CDMA phone that i purchase as it first came out in the States of 2008. I need help on how to unlock my phone. I have read around the forum and hear ppl saying that i would need my IMEI number but i have no idea where to find it on my phone, I have tried the *#06# number but doesn't work can anyone help me out with this. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help me with this problem i have been having.
I have located two sets of numbers under my battery labeled as MEID HEX/MEID DEC. would either of these set of numbers be considered my IMEI number.

If you go settings>system>device info>identity it shows imei.
IMEI
I'm afraid I went to Settings > System > Device Info, and the Identity tab only shows Model and Platform (RAPH800 and PocketPC, respectively).
Where can I get my IMEI number?

The above thread states you have an "ESN" number instead of an IMEI number. Search is a powerful tool.

Use Search Luke Use the Search
I know the phone can be unlocked so you can change phone number etc...
I am looking for a similar app which the Force tells me is close by.....
such as the title
i need to unlock my het hero. it needs to get the IMEI number with my htc hero or with my old phone? if using the new HTC hero, but it's locked now, does it still work for getting the IMEI number? many thanks
imei is like the serial number of your phone. without knowing what you want to do with your imei this question is pointless.
What you are looking for is the code:
*#06#
On _many_ phones, if you 'dial' that number it will tell you the IMEI code of the device. But remember, this is not on all phones, and most modern smartphones stay away from this rule-of-thumb, but show the IMEI number somewhere in an 'about this phone' box or only printed on the phone or something.
Good luck.
HTC hero and magic IMEI numbers clearly printed on the box, but IMEI numbers are only useful to the device it is allocated to, I think.

*#06# works on the Hero and the HD.
dear all, i need the IMEI to remote unlock my htc hero. but i text the *#06#
on my old phone and used that IMEI to try to unlock my htc hero. finally it failed. so am confusing that which phone i should use to get the IMEI number. thank you very much. xxxx
i've sorted it out. dont need to insert the sim card instead of pressing the *#06# directly. then got the IMEI. hope this solution also helps others who have the same problem. cheers
There are four ways to check the IMEI number of an HTC Hero:
1. On the box the Hero came in.
2. In the battery compartment. You have to have good vision for this...
3. The afore mentioned code *#06# which you simply dial in the phone app.
4. Settings > About phone > Status > Scroll down until you see IMEI.
No, you can not unlock a phone from another phone.
I have unlocked the phone using the multicolor bootloder.
installed a vz rom, the esn has been repaired to a current vz phone, the meid has been wiped to all 0's, the spc code is 000000 like needed.
also set epst settings like found on a post on ppcgeeks
public dmu key?
the .prl is now 51099 - *228 .... option 2...... "Im sorry but we are unable to program your phone at this time"
HELP!
edit: currently bettin its because im lacking a data plan.
ok i have to first state the this is illegal which is stupid but if you were to get it to work you would have to clone the imei from a currently working verizon phone to your sprint touch pro... you'd then have to call customer service from the verizonized touch pro and tell them that you need a new a-key... once the phone is verizonized don't ever use any of the *228 options... pm me if you have any questions

uhmmm... imei only applies to GSM phones. CDMA phones have either ESN or MEID (pESN). As far as the legality of the issue, it is done this way to prevent fraud.
You are correct about the A-Key though. However, if the OP is going to go through the hassle of calling VZW, he might as well just ask for the NAM parameters directly (MIN, MSID, and HomeSID)

I have a droid razr im trying to fully flash to metropcs, i have already done the flash on the phone itself, but im having trouble getting the razr into metropcs inventory.
the reason im having trouble is because its a 4g LTE verizon so it has a imei:990000xxxxxxxxx and not a meid:a00000xxxxxxxx
does anyone know how to either convert this imei into an meid or what i can do to get this phone working on metro??
i know its doable because ive seen a youtube video of them fully flashed and functional on cricket.....

Honestly, this is not the section for this, you can verify it better in Q/A and in General.
mods please move this to the Q&A sub forum
I usually see stuff like this in Howard Forums. I live in Atlanta and several people advertise this service on Craigslist. Thank me if I've helped you.

it's also illegal....
I'm pretty sure it's not illegal to flash a phone to another carrier as long as you don't touch the ESN.

How often have you seen people NOT mess with the ESN? Especially when it's to metroPCS?
Technically it is illegal because in order to flash to Metro PCS you have to spoof the ESN to one that Metro PCS recognizes... but technically giving head is also illegal where I live.

Or, you could use MetroPCS's official MetroFlash tool to flash other CDMA phones to MetroPCS. You won't believe how many EVO 4G's and 3D's are on MPCS.
so how can i get my phone into metros system i dont have the metroflash tool but i work across the hall from a metro....and they cant get it into the system using the houdinisoft

i tried that it gives me a 990000 number and a 256 number neither are usable in metro pcs system
Use RadioComm or QPST to see the actual MEID.
QPST and other QC software need a virtual serial port for the COM port assignment but RadioComm does not. QPST displays the MEID at the top right of the service programming window.
RadioComm has buttons that will display MEID, IMEI and pESN in the top center of the main GUI.
The phone displays the IMEI minus 1 digit as the MEID instead of the true MEID, which is NV Item 1943 (dec) or 0797 (hex).
I also am interested
I would love to flash my Razr Maxx to MetroPCS. If anyone can point me/us in the right direction, that would be very appreciated. I tried the Craigslist route, but no one offers the service in my area (Central Florida).
Also, I just read this article concerning MetroPCS and their flashing service:
www dot phonenews dot com/metropcs-ends-metroflash-cdma-flashing-service-20154/
Apparently they are cancelling their in-house flashing of phones due to a lawsuit by Virgin Mobile.
Also, if some could "thank" me, that would be great. I have some posts that I think would be helpful, if I could create new topics.
Thanks,
GabrielSlade
Did you get it solved?
Chief were you able to resolve this. I have a razr as well and would love to put it on MetroPCS

you mean the imei minus 1 digit is not the TRUE meid and only Radiocomm reads the true MEID?
Yeah, I need to flash the Razr to Metro too.
I too would like to put my RAZR on MetroPCS, BUT apparently "Motorola Droid Razr can not be full flashed. Only talk and text and web only through wi-fi".
From what i've read previously, for other devices, once your device goes Metro, it wont go back.
If you are still stuck, i would try and contact this guy either HERE or HERE and see if he would give you a little advice....
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE : either edit your original post or start a new thread if and when you get her working, along with what steps were taken to get there and as much needed info as possible : PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

I know this is more than a few months old but I am wondering once I obtain the MEID from QPST, do I just give this to the metro employee?

I'm trying to get unlock codes for a pair of HTC Titans, and to start the process you need to obtain the IMEI code. Unfortunately, I don't have AT&T simcards, only T-mobile simcards. Dialer won't let me dial *#06# to get the IMEI code because of this, saying I can only make emergency calls.
Is the IMEI found in the About screen or from under the battery not valid for unlocking the phones? Any recommendations regarding how to get past this roadblock?
There is only one IMEI number per phone. It could be printed on your box, show up in about screen and under the battery, all the same number.
In airplane mode *#06# brings up the IMEI just fine

On the box, area where your S/N is on the phone (where the battery is placed), and by dialing *#06# ....
I thought there would only be one IMEI number, and that it should be the same. It just seemed strange that every instruction for buying unlock codes asked for *#06#.

That one is the most trustworthy number if you don't know the full history of the phone. For mine, it was brand new in box and sealed so I was comfortable using the IMEI off the box.

Normally changing IMEI is a criminal violation in most of the countries. And normally IMEI is contained in the inaccessible first 256 kb of flash data (part of the phones) or even in separate chip.

Not usually or on its own, but an unscrupulous seller can change the IMEI, or give you a phone with a different IMEI and a box with a different IMEI.
