trying to flash phone...progress bar not moving - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

I'm trying to flash my phone
using NATF's 4.3 ROM
I had 4.2 installed
the tri-color screen came up
it checked it
and said it was OK
it says "update in progress"
but the bar isn't moving
what do I do?

1. Disconnect phone
2. Put phone back into bootloader
3. Try again
Remember: be patient
If that fails, remove the SIM Card and Memory Card from the phone and ensure that nothing would cause the PC's USB to go haywire (eg plugged in via a USB hub, on a laptop running on battery, etc)
If that fails, try a different USB cable (preferably one that look like it is better quality (ie better shielding) - don't laugh, its worked for me)
If that fails, get the phone back into Bootloader, then try a different ROM (the one you are trying may be corrupt)
If that fails, then I'm out of ideas (though post back with your results)
Finally: DON'T PANIC

[Q] USB connection problem

Hi. I have a problem here. Is it possible to flash new rom directly through bootloader, my activesync is not working properly, and something is wrong with my usb connection - when I connect my device to PC via usb, in bootloading mode - it gets connected and disconnnected about 50 times in one minute, no .RUU is able to recognize it for long enough to complete the instalation. I've tried to reinstall the activesync, did hard reset of my phone, deleted relationships - but no luck. What worries me most is that usb connection problem. It's only with HD2, all other devices connect properly. Anyone knows the answer, what should I do in order to fix that? P.S I always remove sim and sd card, and disable my antivirus programs and firewalls during my flashes....
I bricked it, finally...
And now - I'm stuck...seemed I finally got connected via usb through bootloader for longer than two minutes, so I started fleshing my radio... and it got disconnected after a minute by itself again, in the midllle of the process...Now, there's an upgrade rom code error on green field of my bootloader, telling me to try again, only - I can't do recovery, cause my usb connection gets on/off 50 times a minute, whenever I try to do the recovery .... Any suggestions?

Possible solution, you should try different USB ports of your PC.
Always make sure your battery capacity above 50%.
If you don't have HSPL installed, you should only flash the CORRECT OFFICIAL STOCK ROM (go to htc website).
Other alternative, you can flash via micro sd card.
Download the CORRECT OFFICIAL STOCK ROM and extract it using either 7zip or winrar. Find the file named: RUU_signed.nbh
Rename it to: leoimg.nbh
Copy it to the root of micro sd card. Insert it to the phone.
Now, make sure you turn off the phone.
Then, press at the same time, the volume down and power on button, this will bring you to the boot loader.
Follow the onscreen instruction.
Good luck
Thanks for the reply...I have HSPL 2.08, it was fully charged, and was flashing radio 2.12. I was planing to flash a custom rom after words. I've tried about 8 usb ports on my computer, and always the same thing - endless connect/disconnect game, or not connected at all... If I get lucky - it will turn out to be only usb cable, but if I'm not and if it is usb port on my HD2 - I'm doomed, I might as well throw it to the garbage, cause replacement of the motherbord cost as much as new phone ... And, I'm afraid - that's the strongest possibility, I never had a problem charging a phone before this, but a member here explained me that usb port on HD2 has 4 pins, 2 for charging and 2 for data transfer. And that it seems - my data pins are ****ed.. ... So, anyway, I'm gonna try flashing this radio and new rom from sd card, but how am I gonna charge my phone now, in order to do that (I've been trying to establish connection to pc from my bootloader all night, so battery must be low by now) cause when it's turned on and put to charge warning comes up on that black screen: Software update failed, please try again - and the led for charging battery never turns on ?

Yeah it sounds like your USB port on your HD2 is bad. If your HD2 is still under warranty I flash the official stock ROM via SD card so you are back to complete stock and good for warranty repair. Also so you know if you bought your HD2 secound hand if it was still under warranty when you bought it the warranty is transferable.
Ok people, I've sorted it out ... Lucky me - no faulty usb port on HD2, no faulty cable, and, no faulty HD2 ... I've flashed a different radio from sd card, and also rom, and now - connectivity with my pc is - never better ... Even ActiveSync is working like it hasn't been in 6 months, hahahhhh ... Point is - it was my pc punishing me for playing with it's registry, few nights before ... I was really confused, cause HD7 had excellent connectivity with my pc, but HD2 really bad, so I really thought there was something wrong with my beloved HD2 ... Than, I remembered I've messed with my registry the other night, and deleting some non-existing pocket pc paths in it... So, I repaired my windows on pc, and now everything works like a charm .... What can I say - curiosity can have very high price, sometimes .... But - fortunately, I'm as lucky, as it gets ...

[Q] Return to stock Non-Odin

I have been perusing these forums for weeks, trying to discover a way to return to stock or at least get my root access recognized (no longer have su in system/bin). For quite some time I have been unable to get my laptop to recognize my fascinate/USB (after dozens of reinstalls drivers etc). It may be the computer, or phone, or both. At this point, I want to just get it back to stock, so I can send it back to Verizon since I am one of those people with the weird call issues. But I digress..
If I boot into recovery (via 3 finger salute) is there any file that I can use to start the process towards regaining my root access or going back to a stock ROM. My permissions are all screwy, and at this point I am terrified to do anything, since ODIN is out of the question.
Thanks before hand.

Do you have a custom recovery installed, or just the stock Samsung version? If ODIN is a no-go and you have the stock Samsung recovery in place, I'm not sure how much you can do here. Any chance of trying another computer to see if ODIN will work? In order to do what you want, ODIN, heimdall, or a non-OEM recovery is going to be required.
Does the phone at least go into Download mode if you pull the battery, hold VOL DOWN, and plug in the USB cable? If you can get that far, I think it's pretty likely that a different PC or perhaps even a different USB cable would be able to get you working with ODIN.
I have an eBay Fascinate I use for development with a broken USB port, and it's hella hard to get the thing working once it's been powered off. In that device's case, it *always* thinks a USB cable is connected, making a lot of things difficult to accomplish. To resurrect it with ODIN, I had to get it into Download mode using a wall plug adapter first (PC wouldn't work) with the battery IN, then move it over to the PC quickly and ODIN recognized it. It took more than one try to make this happen .. way more than one try ... but in the end I was victorious and it's been working great ever since. Moral: maybe try some other ways of getting it into Download mode and see if with luck the PC will recognize it long enough so you can flash it.
I suppose if push came to shove you could run the thing over
Have you downloaded your Samsung USB drivers as an Administrator on your computer? Also, there are some different methods for getting these drivers to work. One of which I had to use was going through PDANet. It just installs them differently and somehow they may work over the traditional installation.

Help!! Can not flash any ROMs

All sorts of issues here.
I am no longer able to install new ROMs on my Aria. In the past I have flashed many ROMs on the phone. Recently I flashed an ICS rom but I did not like the way it was working so I went back to Cyanogenmod 7.1 RC1. Now for whatever reason, I am unable to flash any other ROMs. I put the new rom on the SD card like I always had then boot to CWM, go to install from SD card and it says that there are no files there. Which is not true and its not the SD card because I can still see the files with a file manager. When I select the ROM from inside ROM Manager it goes through the process but stops shortly after starting the install. I have heard that using a different version of CWM may work but when I try to download one from ROM manager it says an error occurred when trying to download. Also when I hook the phone up to my PC it doesnt recognize that it is plugged in other than its charging. (yes it is the original USB cord and USB debugging is on).
A few details: This phone has never connected with my current/new PC. It did work at one time with my old one. While trying to fix this I did a complete wipe of the phone, the first time I hooked it up to my current PC I got the whole new hardware detected thing on my PC and USB debug was active on the phone, but I don't know if I accidently hit a wrong option on my PC but it went right away and has never connected again.
I also noticed that the phone is S-ON, I thought/assumed it was S-OFF before. Could it have some how turned back on? I cant get it back off now since I cant use ADB without USB Debug connected.
I no longer use this Aria for daily use (replaced with One X ) so I am open to some possible "extreme" ideas of trying to fix this.
Thanks for any help. This is driving me nuts.
I'd probably do the following:
1) Format SD card fresh using this program, which can fix some problems with the way SD cards are formatted. It can fix stuff that formatting with Windows or from the phone directly won't fix. Worth a try first since it's relatively easy and will rule out the possibility that the SD card just got got corrupted or something.
2) If that doesn't work, and if you have HBOOT 1.02 or older, run the 2.2.2 RUU on the phone to completely reset everything. Then use Revolutionary to S-OFF the device again, and install one of the CWM builds here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25490394&postcount=66 . Hopefully whatever the problem is will be corrected by doing all that.
If you have HBOOT 1.03, let me know and I'll tell you what else you need to do first. (This won't work without downgrading to 1.02.)

How can I run this if I can not establish a connection to my PC? (I have HBOOT version 0.57.0000)
I tried the SD card format and it did not work.
I also noticed an error when first booting into recovery that says something along the lines of I do not have enough internal memory. I have wiped the data on this phone a few times so I cant imagine anything being actually full.

Install this first: http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
Then try running the RUU again.

I have tried installing that before (tried again this time too) and it doesn't help. I still have no connection to the phone. I have Windows 7 if that helps anything.
I've found the most reliable way to get them to communicate is to put the phone into fastboot mode before connecting it to the computer, then running the RUU again. (If you don't know, to get to fastboot mode, select fastboot from the hboot menu.)

That didn't work either. I am thinking it has something to do with the PC. I installed that driver package you just put up there but is it possible that it didn't install correctly? How could I check that? When I installed it, it never gave any confirmation or anything. Just gave a load screen then went away.

You can try going to the uninstall programs list in control panel and uninstall anything related to HTC, rebooting, then installing the drivers I linked to again. Otherwise I'd just try on another computer if you can.
Edit: Also, before even trying that, you might just try different USB ports on the computer. If you are connecting to a USB 3.0 port (blue port), try a non-3.0 port (black port).

Well, sort of good news here. I had tried different USB ports before but thought I would give it another go, it still was not connecting. So in a bit of a fit of rage I took the micro usb cord at shoved it quite hard into the phone. Well the connection flickered. So it appears over the years the USB slot had gotten a nice amount of pocket lint or whatnot jammed tight in there to where it would connect enough to charge but not enough for a PC connection. I cleaned it all out the best I could and what do you know, it worked.
Foiled by pocket lint.... SMH.
I loaded the 2.2.2 RUU and will give the rest of the problems a go tomorrow and post an update. Thanks again for all the help.
Looks like everything is working like it used to.
Thanks again.

[Q] Has my SII's USB died?

Well, the day before it occurred to me that I'd like to install a custom ROM, therefore I went on to plug my phone into my PC and for my surprise, the phone didn't pop that MTP warning and the PC did not recognize it.
So I went around and changed USB ports, cables and PCs, same thing.
Decided to try Mass Storage mode, when I press the START button and put in the cable it goes back into the main start screen.
So I went on and tried that *#7284# trick people used since apparently 4.0.3 bugged some crap stuff in the phone, no success either.
Strangely enough I can connect the "pendrive dongle" and it will map pendrives.
Well, I don't have my phone rooted or with SU so that means CWM from app store won't be able to install the recovery module, and I can't install... you get the picture.
Nor ODIN nor HEIMDALL will recognize my phone in recovery mode, wich suggests that the data lanes on my phone went somewhat dead.
Finally, any cable I plug in the phone says it's charging my device, wich leads me to belive that the usb port is dead.
Anyone had this issue?
Anyone can confirm me I'll have to take it to Sammy's assistance?
Sure looks like the USB is dead/dying.
Sent from my digital submersible hovercraft.
So I got one more question, can I root and/or install CWM so I do not stay dependent of the USB to update it or I do need to plug in the USB to install CWM through ODIN?
Several problems
It can be several reasons
1.the usb is dead buy new
2. try factory resetting the device
3. install kies on pc it will install all the drivers that you need
4.your usb port(of the phone) is dead
I had the same problem pc was saying "USB cannot be recognized" I TRIED EVERYTHING from factory resetting, changing pc usb ports, changing usb, changing kernel, roms, trying on other pc, reinstalling kies and drivers but nothing. The problem was in the usb port on the phone where you connect the charger on the phone. That part is weak and so you have to change it. Take to customer service with your warranty and they will fix it without charging anything just tell them your problem and say that you read that most of the galaxy s2 users have this problem and that you didn't touch the hardware of the phone

Warranty has already expired.
Kies was installed on the PC, ODIN gives no info @ COM port.
I wanted to connect it just to root and install CWM so I can swap ROMs as much as I want.
Thing is, the customer service wants 1 week to assess the issue and probably 100USD to fix it.
So for some god-knows-why reason my phone decided to conect to MTP while charging, I quickly restarted it into revocery mode and flashed CF_Root w/ CWM5.5.
Successful!
Bloody USB thingy!
Now I can start messing around with the phone.
Anyone has a n00blet guide on ROMs?
I was thinking about moving to CM 10.1, one of those nightlies running 4.2.2.
This is the one I used >> CF-Root-SGS2_XW_OXX_LPE-v5.5-CWM5
Can anyone suggest actions?
For future you should change your USB-Port. Here we get one for about 15 € (about 20 $) in ebay. It's very simple to change and then you have a full working phone again. Just watch the Videos on Youtube and everyone can do this. Hope I could help!

[Q] Need to return phone, can't re-lock/unroot

My phone has been having a variety of problems lately and need to exchange it for a new phone.
1) It doesn't always detect that it's been plugged into the computer. It charges, but I don't have the ability to switch between Charge only/MTP/Tethering/etc... Tried connecting to multiple computers.
2) It can't mount the memory card. It sees it's there, but then gives me the "SD Card safe to remove" notification. So it immediately unmounts it when I turn the phone on or put the SD card in. Tried several MicroSD cards.
3) When I try to LGNPST back to the complete stock, my computer doesn't recognize it/install the drivers. So... Can't get back to stock. I've followed the instructions at http://pastebin.com/hwQE66Wi - Can't get past number 8. LGNPST won't go into emergency mode. Once again, tried multiple computers.
I've used Freegee's app to restore from backups(Lock bootloader) but I can't tell if it worked. It said success after restoring but I'm still able to flash new ROMs? I didn't think that was possible with a locked bootloader(Correct me if I'm wrong)
Is there another way to lock the bootloader and unlock?
I'm on the new stock JB ROM that SnowLeopard uploaded the other day. Any help at all would be great!
